LD42 — Running out of space

Running out of space by Predominant 2018-08-13T12:57:30Z

The game has a really nice consistent graphical style. It could easily be mistaken for a game you'd find on a platform like Steam. Really great job on that!

The concept is cool but unless you checked the instructions you may miss some of the features, such as the inspection table. I just started the game immediately and was pleasently surprised to find a bomb exploding my nice box heap. Someone really has it out for this place!

I have a few suggestions for improvements: - Make the game about 50 or so percent faster. It may just be my craptop, but the game seems to run in semi-slow motion. I wish the game was just a bit faster in general. - Allow the player to walk around the center of the camera without being tracked 1 to 1. It feels a bit constraining.

Good game!

Snakescape by krasse 2018-08-14T20:05:03Z

The second level took me an emberassing amount of time to complete. Wish there were more levels. The hole-traversal mechanic is great and would allow for a large number of additional puzzles.

Too Many Gems by Quetzakol 2018-08-13T18:19:11Z

There's a message in this story. Don't be a fool, bring a tool.

I really enjoyed the style of this game. The enemies are imaginative (an ice cube?), and the entire game is surreal.

Upwards by Nitin Kumar 2018-08-13T17:29:02Z

Simple and somewhat hypnotic. Reminds me Atari games.

Shrinking Panes by Pennycook 2018-08-16T05:16:06Z

LoL, the cube spawned outside the containment one time. Squish!

Nice story told in a few lines of dialogue. Kinda like Deadpool's origins but more squared.

Gravity Hook by GlacierEclipse 2018-08-15T21:25:51Z

Difficult but satisfying. Getting in a series of smooth curves and swinging right into the goal feels good. Instant restart on death is appreciated.

Mindblocked by diptoman 2018-08-14T14:21:25Z

This game has some great mechanics. Each one of the special tiles seems well thought out and adds something new to the game. Nothing seems tacked on so to say. The game is pretty addictive and fun.

AQUATIC SUBGAL by neontropics 2018-08-13T22:38:04Z

The red growths are devious. The game isn't too difficult if you just go slowly and take your time... or you can just boost in a straight line firing your guns hoping for the best!

Flesh Packer by nervous-composers 2018-08-14T18:42:21Z

Cop seeing the scene: "... carry on"

Dirty and morbid, nice.

Astro Spider by ristoretto 2018-08-15T18:19:18Z

Great fun! Fast-paced, hectic and precise gameplay. The way you swing back and forth after stopping adds an extra element of skill.

My one complaint is that the mouse isn't constrainted within the game, so I keep pressing outside the window. Other than that, really fun game!

Pianobots by fonserbc 2018-08-13T20:21:42Z

Nice! It can be a bit hard to know which part of the song you're trying to play (if you're familiar with them), but the piano bots are still a cool mechanic.

Gunning Out Of Space by ytaha 2018-08-14T13:53:30Z

Ooh, that's a clever idea! And the gameplay is really fast and to the point too. Nice music, nice explosion/screen-shake effect, and the graphics does what it needs to do.

Engulfed by OmnipotentIndie 2018-08-13T11:57:26Z

Good game. Simple and to the point. This game is a great example why adding a screen-shake effect really adds to the impact.

For future games, I would suggest allowing the player to use an alternative key to the space bar for firing. Rapid-fire spacebar is pretty loud :)

Out of Graves by Diego Goncalves 2018-08-13T20:40:53Z

The game feels pretty polished for something done in a few days. The theme is deliciously morbid, and the graphics are nice and consistent. The gameplay is a little bit slow for my tastes, but that's just a nitpick.

I didn't realize at first that you had to bury the bodies, so I just kept throwing them down the graves. Didn't really work out.

Manspreader by Rob White 2018-08-13T14:33:16Z

This game is REALLY good! It taps into the same type of addictive gameplay as One Finger Death Punch. The way you spawn people is quite clever, forcing the player to synchronize its tapping, or multitask with one side getting a constant barrage of enemy combatants and the other side gets only a few.

The graphics are simple and effective. The way the trees move, the screen flashes and the highscores pop up when you take down those evil parkgoers makes the game feel alive.

And yes, the theme. I think we can all identify with the protagonist in this game. If anything his spread is a bit below average tbh but who am I to judge?

Great job! Addictive game!

Evolucity - Build as high as you can! by Mazzletov 2018-08-15T14:03:11Z

Cool concept! The 3d models look fantastic due to the small details. The gameplay is rather difficult and once things go south there is not much you can do to save it, but that's part of the charm.

The placement position is somewhat unreliable and I can't quite figure out what exactly is used to determine which tile is hovered. Some type subtle wireframe grid of the hover locations might have made it clearer.

Lost in deep space by mgsx 2018-08-14T13:10:57Z

I really like the music. The artstyle is pretty good too, but the high-res background clashes a bit against the cartoony foreground. The gameplay is challenging but not impossible.

Overall a nice little game.

Pizza Defender by Sloyd 2018-08-13T17:59:54Z

The artstyle is great and consistent and the animations look really good. The idea of the game works well. Though it feels a bit slow, like the game could just be sped up to x1.5.

DAMN! A Really Tiny, Insecure Ship by Matt Jones 2018-08-14T19:24:41Z

You are tearing me apart Lasers! And I came so far!

Cool roguelite game with rocking music.

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-14T22:06:24Z

6599 points.

Game feels very polished for being pre-alpha. The buildings, menus and enemies all look great.

It's a bit too easy for a stretch before the enemy hordes get really large.

Dusk Spirits by Tinamil 2018-08-13T13:41:23Z

Esc was probably not a good key to close the dialogue with, since it's used in firefox to take back control over the cursor and disable fullscreen. I had to maximize the screen, then press esc and it worked.

This game reminds me of the old classic Die by the sword in the way you swing your weapon. Less like an action game and more like a fighting simulator. That's a plus in my book.

The music is really quite good too.

A New Kingdom by 2lol555 2018-08-13T15:10:34Z

I feel the message of this game is: "Don't help people".

Joking aside, it's a fun game! It's actually quite a challenge to safe 25 persons. The graphics are good, the camera feels smooth and the music is quite pleasing.

Falling Ecosystem by sprvrn 2018-08-14T16:03:48Z

Love it! I'm a huge fan of minimalistic pixel-art (games like Environmental Station Alpha), and this game is simply gorgeous! On top of that the gameplay is compelling as well, forcing you to make some difficult choices whether to mine or just gather resources. And again, the attention to detail (screen-shake anyone?) brings it all home. Good job!

If you made some type of larger sim city styled game in this theme I'd play it.

OVERLOADED by rainysolar 2018-08-13T14:15:30Z

Sneaky buggers, trying to avoid paying for tickets \*shakes fist\*

There's a nice attention to detail on the people in the game. Their animations and different clothing styles. I like it!

Crash·Data by Jkabuto 2018-08-13T18:48:01Z

A cool shooter with fitting music.

I like the idea of having to use the delete file boxes to clear some breathing room.

Sodaboi by Tony Redmer 2018-08-14T18:24:04Z

Sodaboi's greatest enemy is multitasking. Hilarious game! And the gameplay is quite unique.

Mars Defender by Mil 2018-08-15T17:37:05Z

Hooray for Mars! Git out Earthlings!

Nice use of both the NASA photos and... whatever those sound effects were from. Hilarious!

Loneliness by Saering 2018-08-14T21:23:53Z

Whelp! Well you got me right in the stomach. It's quite impressive that you managed to make such an atmospheric horror game in just a few days. Very good job indeed!

I had some random extreme slow downs when looking in certain direcitons. Forward rendering + many light sources perhaps?

Smelly Corp. by Klerembot 2018-08-14T18:10:29Z

Nice concept. The one thing this game really needed was tile highlighting under the mouse cursor to indicate actions. It was a bit hard to know whether you were going to build something or pick up toxic waste.

Running out of Space by Gaoyuan Chen 2018-08-14T15:08:59Z

Neat original concept! I liked the mutations:

"aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa space".

Colony by thechubbypanda 2018-08-14T15:34:48Z

Ah, the atmosphere of this game is quite relaxing... but the game itself is rather difficult.

Plant's Conquest by Sam Estep 2018-08-14T17:37:50Z

Lovely little short story. Even though there is just a few screens, they have some great looking art.

Trial by Fire by CorgiRam 2018-08-13T14:49:05Z

And I thought I was clever for surrounding myself with fire like some type of Ninja. Do'h.

It's a nice concept for a game. It adds a tactical element rather than just having the player attack everything in sight.

The graphics are quite nice, especially the fires.

Getting Some Space by Qazikol 2018-08-13T19:06:38Z

I feel ya. Living in the city makes you feel like an ant.

Souls Panic by DarkGuiGui 2018-08-14T13:42:29Z

Very challenging game. The graphics are nice and the theme fits well. You really have to be quick to stand a chance.

Oh no! This is monsters! by Alexey Akulovich 2018-08-13T13:51:28Z

A small game about killing demons. What more could you want except Grenade launcher! Grenade launcher! Yeah!

The artstyle is good. It's a bit odd that the player is outlined but the demons aren't, but that's just a nitpick.

I like the shrinking and growing controls in the menu, bringing it to the attention of the player. I'm stealing that!

Leaving Room by LastLeaf 2018-08-13T19:14:07Z

Surprisingly deep story on top of fun gameplay. Nice!

Space Defender 2000 by Sambi 2018-08-15T14:53:16Z

I love the dithering effect you used. Looks good.

The gameplay is quite difficult, but I don't mind that. It would be nice if the game automatically restarted though after you die so you didn't have to keep pressing restart.

The aiming is unorthodox when played with a mouse. It's not that hard to aim, but it becomes part of the challenge. I imagine if you used a twin stick gamepad it would be much easier.

grindatron.tv by Donitz 2018-08-12T23:37:55Z

I fixed a couple of game breaking bugs. One which allowed the player to hold on to a wall indefinitely, and one which activated next level twice skipping levels.

grindatron.tv by Donitz 2018-08-13T14:17:39Z

@swini Thank you! I completely botched the walk animation but I hoped nobody would notice :D

grindatron.tv by Donitz 2018-08-13T14:36:15Z

@fire-phantom7 Agreed, this game really could use a soundtrack. I don't personally have any skills at all in making music, but in retrospect I could at least have generated some type of ambient noise.

grindatron.tv by Donitz 2018-08-14T08:16:03Z

@dps2004 yeah, maybe it could work as a multiplayer web game. Dealing with latency would be a bit challenging but not impossible to solve.

@gaoyuan-chen Knew I should have added some kind of visual indicator above the player.

grindatron.tv by Donitz 2018-08-14T18:17:02Z

@sam-estep Thank you! I did try to make the AI act in a somewhat unpredictable fashion. For example, whenever you hear a character "talk" it means they're following another character. They also sometimes just stand in place waiting for their doom, or try to find somewhere safe to stand.

grindatron.tv by Donitz 2018-08-15T10:49:43Z

@szatku The AI does a lot of mistakes yes. The game uses manually drawn patterns which are overlaid on top of the level to find potential paths. If I had more time I'd have checked through each pattern individually and see if the AI is capable of performing it.

Here's an example: Jump from "0" through the air "." to the target "1" on the platform "#", while ignoring anything in "?". The mirrored version of the same pattern is also tested.

``` PathPatterns._createPattern([ '1...?', '#....', '?....', '??..0', '????#'], true /* jump */);```
Rocket Girls by tcmxx 2018-08-13T18:36:19Z
This game seemed pretty unassuming at first, until I realised each of the Rocket girls had a special ability (didn't read the description before playing the game). That blew my mind! I still haven't been able to get through the last zone, but I'll keep trying. This is a really neat concept.
Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-14T14:11:48Z
I love the way the levels are created. It looks great! The humour is spot on, and the graphics have a nice limbo/twisted shadow planet vibe.
PS: Not a cheater
Slay The Slimes by rk3Omega 2018-08-13T13:30:09Z
The artstyle is very nice. Love the black outlines and the slimes are adorable. The background loop is nice for being only a few seconds long.
Thank you for allowing the player to use the mouse button to attack. Good foresight!
One complaint I have is that the camera is too high, so you can't always see if a pit has spikes in it or not.
I noticed that you won't die from spikes while in grace time, so ofc I got hit on purpose by a slime and ran trough the spikes and jumped off the world :D
Trash Mage by Mustiman 2018-08-15T08:50:12Z
Neat little game. The boss design was funny and they had some cool attacks.
You can defeat the bosses pretty quickly be really spamming the attack button. Instead it might have been better to maximize DPS after 2 or so clicks per second to make it easier to aim.
Closing In by Cobear25 2018-08-13T14:59:17Z
3740 meters.
It's a cool game. The music and colorscheme makes the experience seem kind of alien, but in a good way.
My one complaint is that it's a bit hard to tell the distance between the ship and walls.
After the Future by Bichodust 2018-08-14T14:55:02Z
Awesome game. I really like the theme, and the robot+lab looks super cool.
The gameplay was ALMOST self-explanatory. The one aspect which confused me at first was that you had to use the mouse to activate the powerups. It might have worked better if they were numbered and activated by 1-3.
Feed cats by Noini 2018-08-14T13:22:19Z
Reminds me of Tamagotchi. Fun to open up on the side while you do something else, and watching the progress now and then.
Fluffy Tile World by sylvie 2018-08-13T15:51:12Z
Nice game! I love how open it is, and that the tiles keep following you no matter where you go. Makes the world feel connected. Some of the puzzles are real brainteasers too. I got to the skull zone puzzle and no matter from which direction I attacked it I didn't find a solution. Still, the best puzzles makes you work for them.
Cute graphics, good puzzles!
LD43 — Sacrifices must be made
Sacrilicious by garethiw 2018-12-05T23:16:34Z
I think the volcano may be a metalhead. Great artwork! The indicator sticks out a little bit but it's no biggie.
How to ruin your life in 48 hours by Yaroslav Kravtsov 2018-12-04T18:40:36Z
it's ok, i guess
Seriously though. This game is great! The mechanics are very deep (it even has cooking!) and the apartment looks great and has so many interactive things. It also teaches you a life lesson in never answering the phone because screw that noise.
Worsheep by hbirler 2018-12-04T21:12:23Z
A true work of art!
GameDev Sacrifices by GerodruS 2018-12-04T18:49:09Z
Lol nice. Was a bit confused at first but after paying closer attention it became pretty clear what the mechanic was. Awesome graphics too!
Surprisingly challenging. I was ONE ship away from winning.
Good game!
The pagan is cute.
Cosmo Buddy by easy82 2018-12-08T10:48:00Z
Wonderful graphics that wouldn't be out of place on a $20 Steam game. The soundtrack is great too.
The platform physics feel solid too. Didn't glitch out at any corner.
Tenoch's Turmoil by evbo 2018-12-04T12:01:53Z
Nice graphics! The physics are solid and the gameplay is quick phased. My one complaint is that I hate using the spacebar for jumping (so loud).
Super Robot Carl by Dosenhering 2018-12-06T12:29:04Z
I must be doing something wrong in the WebGL version. I see the other side in the first gap, but there isn't enough thrust to get over, only about half-way.
Journey To The Promise Land by royur 2018-12-04T11:51:34Z
It's a cool concept, like an arcade Oregon Trail. The guys are a bit small and difficult to click on, and the graphics are fairly basic, but the gameplay loop is great.
EXCHANGE by hatchet 2018-12-04T21:00:30Z
Great mechanic! I love the way sacrificing different body parts changes the way the game plays, like losing your hearing by removing your ears.
The intro was hilarious and had me actually laugh out loud. Great user interface too. Reminds me of old PC games from the 90s in which the UI took up like half the screen.
A very enjoyable game indeed!
Pirates Overboard by mgsx 2018-12-04T17:33:33Z
Cool game! The game has a unique style and none of the graphics clash. The soundtrack fits very well. The gameplay loop is fun, and being allowed to repair the boat after each level makes it feel like "your own" boat. Good job!
Offerlings by eldogg 2018-12-04T19:18:10Z
Funny game, and the offerlings are pretty cute/silly. I wish there was more levels.
Volcano Island by Arvejeitor 2018-12-05T21:49:00Z
Picky eater! Simple game but it looks really good.
Space Hopper by Tom Robson 2018-12-04T19:45:11Z
Very polished and nice game. The only thing that is missing is some kind of drag indicator the first time you play the game.
Catrifices by MrPiedPiper 2018-12-05T20:54:21Z
You saved 5 cats at the cost of 0 others. Was it worth it?
Yes! I love cats!
Good job! The graphics are really quite good, especially for a first game.
Trolley Problem Chronicles by GreenCircle 2018-12-04T20:04:50Z
People are never happy, the game! I like the humorous twist on the trolley dilemma.
Sven by Donitz 2018-12-04T12:55:09Z
Thank you all!
@thevinter @mrgrimace
The faster you attack the boss the more it retaliates, so it's a bit easier to attack it bit by bit before nuking it.
@metalfox-dioxymore
It was possible to attack other humans at first, but I removed it because I didn't want Sven to seem like a monster.
Sven by Donitz 2018-12-04T13:50:23Z
@alexisdupuis Done! Cryptic hint added.
Sven by Donitz 2018-12-04T21:56:15Z
Thank you!
@yoni @johara-dutton Yeah I should have made the X attack button clearer. During development there was a couple of times when I reflexively tried to click the X. That should have been a sign!
Sven by Donitz 2018-12-06T17:29:41Z
@banjoduarte Thank you! I originally started working in ms paint, but I then found a program called "piskel" which I used to get frame-by-frame animation + onion skin. Still looking for even better alternatives which also support multiple animations per file.
HSMC Arena by MrGrimace 2018-12-04T11:56:25Z
Nice little game. I don't know if it was intended, but on my laptop the enemies kinda look like they're claymotion and it adds a nice cheesy touch to the game.
By the way, you can disable the scrollbars on the play window on itch.io.
Captain's Dilemma by Lizouille 2018-12-04T12:20:01Z
Yeah that fits the theme perfectly. A bit annoying that I kept flying off the screen though.
Disassembly Line by Borja 2018-12-05T21:30:04Z
Looks really great! Very polished and the gameplay is solid.
There seems to be a significant slowdown when encountering the enemy robots with the purple lights. A wild guess is that you're using forward rendering with too many light sources.
260KG by Rodrigo Grego 2018-12-05T21:04:53Z
Very funny! Lost the first time thanks to Dave, that no good...
Machine Godz by Beardmage 2018-12-06T12:47:08Z
Cool! Love the graphics and soundtrack. Gameplay is good and pretty fast-paced.
The sacrifice mechanic was a bit unclear at first. I thought you were gaining bonuses and that enemies sacrificing themselves to blow you up was the mechanic. Bit of a surprise when I kept getting weaker. Maybe a visual indicator of some energy flying from you into the statue would have made it clearer, but that's just a nitpick.
I'm going all Tom Cruise on these people with the spotter ability. It may have been a bit too cheap.
I really enjoy the concept. It kinda reminds me of a more casual Paper's please.
Criminal Street by GastricSparrow 2019-04-30T14:05:25Z
@gastricsparrow I think I went to something like level 25. I was fairly sure that I could have continued forever at that point.
So bloody close, rage game!
Nice job!
Whipout by Armadillq 2019-04-30T14:03:59Z
Good difficult game. I could see myself speedrunning this.
One thing about the platform physics. It's a good idea to allow the player to jump in the air a short duration after running off a platform. It's more forgiving and the player doesn't really notice it unless it's missing.
Coin Defender by Nikos 2019-04-30T13:58:11Z
Cool concept (even though I don't really know the value of these coins).
I wish the game had eased you into it a bit more, by having you create some of the smaller coins first.
@ldjsq @cheesepencil I find spamming X is the easiest way to win the spawning pool level.
TRIWAR by Donitz 2019-05-02T06:51:16Z
@ristoretto @fahim-faysal You can take multiple hits if you have more than 20 life orbs available, but I'm not surprised that it doesn't happen too often. The demolisher unit is created from 4 lives and can take 4 hits, but can still be spammed down by the rapidly attacking drone units.
I agree that the grenadier/demolisher unit seems to lack purpose. It's still usable but it's not really essential to the game at all. Some kind of shield unit would have been a better idea. Maybe you could have spawned a stationary force field like in Apex Legends.
Color lerping based on reload delay is a great idea. Wish I would have thought of that.
TRIWAR by Donitz 2019-05-03T07:49:31Z
@daratrix Thanks for your very detailed analysis of the game. Agreed, once you hit a certain number of units the rest of the level becomes a cakewalk. The mines act somewhat as a countermeasure to that but not really enough.
@rgarbati Thank you!
Blood Bastion by Inferture 2019-04-30T13:27:10Z
Cool boss, but I wish you didn't have to watch the intro more than once.
Sigillis by JUSTCAMH 2019-04-30T10:55:11Z
A stylistic and very fun game! The pattern recognition worked really well and the main mechanic is solid as heck.
The user interface is also really nicely designed, with the sloping lines in the middle. Though the viewport seem to have been cut off horizontally on my laptop screen.
Cowry - A game about change by johanhelsing 2019-05-01T11:57:39Z
Nice well timed music!
Managed to fly off the level the first time by mistake at the end.
Collecting Really Nice Cats! by cheesepencil 2019-04-29T23:58:32Z
Did you seriously hire professional VAs for this game? Cheating!
Horde Defence by Lemon 2019-04-30T20:12:12Z
I'm a sucker for simplistic strategy games. With a bit more work it could be one of those dangerously addictive mobile games.
Endless Consumption by Jacob Valore 2019-05-01T11:27:53Z
Great concept and layout. Love the way the entire game is a single screen.
So-called life by Kamila 2019-05-01T10:36:14Z
Lol, funny concept. I like the presentation too.
utsvulten by ditto 2019-05-01T14:53:15Z
*puts down sandwich*
Okay... that's some Eraserhead tripping.
1up by dflinders 2019-05-01T10:08:40Z
Really nice artstyle. Reminds me of Little Big Planet. Gameplay was mostly fine, but the fall damage was frustrating as hell.
Virus the game by Vertuga32 2019-05-01T10:54:28Z
Very nice idea. The difficulty seems perfectly balanced.
Boomin' Zoomin' Lil' Lamb by Hegemege 2020-04-22T17:56:42Z
I'm a sucker for dithering effects. Very cool.
DieDry by AAA 2020-04-21T11:42:32Z
Wonderful ragdoll physics.
Leafy Hero by Guilb 2020-04-22T17:42:28Z
Very relaxing, to be a flower.
Take Us Home by Lee Beever 2020-04-23T21:10:49Z
Very pretty graphics and bloom effects. The music is relaxing.
Life Plug by JuanJ7 2020-04-21T11:11:17Z
Really love the concept, and the art is fantastic.
I didn't immidietely understand that you lose health by moving. Maybe some kind downsliding frequency sound effect would have made that clearer.
Life of the Party by OrdiNeu 2020-04-24T17:31:36Z
Loved the way the dance mini-game. Nicely executed party simulator.
Spawnhood by JammedGame 2020-04-21T13:45:24Z
Really polished. The sense of humour is on point.
One Step Darker by thijs9907 2020-04-22T18:00:55Z
I really enjoy the graphics and your usage of lighting and shadows. I only wish the animations were faster. Cool game none the less.
Feederz by Donitz 2020-04-22T09:47:17Z
Thank you all for good feedback!
@strange-nebula I Should probably have provided a bit more information about the goal of the game. It's relatively short so I hoped people would reach the first evolution before they assumed that they were missing something.
@slimmerburger Yeah, I was afraid of that. It's what happens when you use a lot of lights and complex shaders in a large scene. If I had more time I would have optimized it better.
Feederz by Donitz 2020-04-22T14:59:21Z
Here is a trick which will make the game run faster. When in fullscreen, use CLTR + the mouse wheel to zoom in. That will reduce the resolution (and make the game more retro, lol).
Strazy Dazy by B. Golda 2020-04-21T10:54:21Z
My Stepmania muscle memory keeps throwing me off, since the up and down arrows are switched. Otherwise it's a very relaxing game with some trippy graphics. Good job!
Mr Ficus by KreGames 2020-04-22T18:11:34Z
Lessons learned: Ficuses are fickle
Nice game. I only wish there was visual feedback of watering.
Keep this heart alive by Apandso 2020-04-23T21:02:48Z
The graphical style is nice and consistent and the gameplay is smooth. Great job!
Ambulance Drifter by Strange Nebula 2020-04-21T10:44:15Z
I like the GTA physics. Like a micro-GTA.
Plox by GammaFlight 2020-04-21T12:18:36Z
Too short! It was a sweet game.
Keep it Alive : Gate Crusher by Robert Meder 2020-04-21T13:10:14Z
Simple and effective. The scraping stone effect works really well.
Viruses by Gonzalo 2020-04-21T12:05:16Z
The gameplay is fun but really hard.
LD50 — Delay the inevitable
Bussin by bitdecay 2022-04-05T20:43:02Z
It was a fun game while it worked. It seems like the physics kinda break at times and freezes the game.
The Scraps of Victory by Donitz 2022-04-06T19:58:17Z
Thank you all a lot for the feedback!
@autogibbon Yeah there should have been a slight margin for error, like that you could drop a certain percent of the sandwich or that only the top piece of bread must be kept intact.
@renge @nardandas The sandwich is kept in place using a combination of friction and correctional forces (based on distance from center and height). It took a lot of tweaking to get it to feel somewhat good. If the friction was too high, the sandwich couldn't correct itself. If it was too low the entire thing slipped around like a pile of soap.
LD54 — Limited Space
Zombies In The Hall by recursor 2023-10-02T19:14:10Z
Hah. Nice game but great music!
Total Party Swipe by Sheepolution 2023-10-04T09:12:18Z
It's a very cool idea which could work well on touchscreens. I love the shuffling mechanic. One change I believe could work well is that each character only has one attack which is used automatically, as to not slow down the gameplay.
LIGHTDANCER by xk_the_name 2023-10-03T21:52:33Z
The game has a solid gameplay loop. I died at the end but so did the boss, so I'll consider it a bittersweet ending.
Mr.AdBar by eddynardo 2023-10-04T21:58:53Z
Very cool idea! It's up there with the favicon SHMUP in interesting stuff you can do with browsers.
Verliies by Ace17 2023-10-02T19:57:24Z
Good platformer with a lot of nice dynamic levels.
One suggestion I have is to add a bit of grace time for jumps so that you can jump a small amount of time after you run off a platform.
Don't Skip the Ship! by Bloham 2023-10-02T18:53:22Z
Cool idea! A few bugs but otherwise nice. The highlight doesn't refresh until you move, and as the other commenter pointed out the contrast of the highlight was quite low.
Vessel Pressure by AlexClay 2023-10-02T21:47:18Z
I'm either doing construction or war crimes, but it's fun none-the-less.
Tiny Factory by AncientEntity 2023-10-04T13:27:47Z
Extremely stressful. Like others have pointed out, it's like a mini-factorio.
Hmm. A factorio rogue-like is not at all a bad idea.
Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-04T12:04:55Z
Surprisingly addictive.
Limited Headspace by OadT 2023-10-02T20:44:05Z
Clever game, and it's very thematic too. These kinds of logic games, like Baba is You, are a great deal of fun to figure out.
Ah yes, this is why I go to KFC.
Tiny Tour by Bugord 2023-10-04T12:17:16Z
Simple self-explanatory mechanics and pretty graphics. These mini-games are great.
Burglary Bonanza! by kasperhangard 2023-10-02T19:51:01Z
Fun game! I love the attention to detail, like the noises the different things make while you're dragging them around, and the way the windows break. Very nice.
SHELL FACTOR by Dmitry Kaidash 2023-10-04T21:55:22Z
Just like in the Nature documentaries.
Flicker of Lumina by Nash 2023-10-02T20:29:33Z
I won! Lord of the flies!
A surprisingly innovative game. I could see how something like this could be expanded into a longer game with the whole darkness and passive protection mechanic.
Just why? by Donitz 2023-10-01T22:49:53Z
@sevansevan Thank you for the feedback! Yeah I love it when worlds are interconnected. You change something in one place of the world and it affects the others, or you return to some old location via some other route like in many Metroidvania games.
Just why? by Donitz 2023-10-01T23:09:03Z
@sevansevan Yepp, but not without using both checkpoints. I had originally planned to only allow for one checkpoint, but that seemed a bit cruel.
Just why? by Donitz 2023-10-02T21:53:14Z
@quasilyte Thank you! Yeah the explosion sound was a bit loud. I balanced it to with the loudness of the other sound effects, but the only sound you hear often is the cannon which is also really quiet so it may trick you into believing the volume is too quiet.
@jellycopter I'm happy you liked the game. Hehe, I challenge you to find a way to cheat the game. I remember the old tricks from the flash games. Those will not work here.
Just why? by Donitz 2023-10-02T22:17:14Z
@marcus-otterstrom Great job!
Yeah the performance is a bit confusing. Under normal circumstances reading a single pixel shouldn't be that costly (or more like 1 pixel for the entire distance traveled), but at least in Chrome I noticed some severe dips in performance until I set willReadFrequently to true. Though it sounds like it may still be a bit of an issue in some browsers.
Just why? by Donitz 2023-10-02T23:34:48Z
@marcus-otterstrom Thank you for the info. I wrote a small bugfix for Firefox for the pixel data reading. It should work smoothly now.
Just why? by Donitz 2023-10-03T20:43:23Z
@ani Thank you! The Oxygen indicator is only relevant in the underwater section and will kill you if you stay too long.
Just why? by Donitz 2023-10-05T11:44:36Z
@zundou Thank you! Yeah drawing stuff in old graph notebooks was a blast, like Duke 3D levels.
Dogtor Jones and the Holy Bone by Neon Glass 2023-10-03T20:55:25Z
Cool idea and nice graphics, although I wish the downtime between levels was a bit shorter. I got to level 25 before losing my first life.
Floodwater by John Gabriel 2023-10-03T21:28:47Z
Another great puzzle game in which you go "THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE... oh"
Spaceport by freeworld 2023-10-02T21:12:06Z
Relaxing game. I wish the level kept getting more complex as you got further, like you had to plan these long complicated paths for a lot of ships coming from different directions.
Though I Walk by AdamCYounis 2023-10-03T21:42:29Z
Another great take on the genre of perspective-based games. This was quite a cool concept and I wish it had been longer. Pixelart was lovely, especially the protagonist.
Space racer by Sacramentix 2023-10-02T21:05:43Z
Love the concept! It's extra fun when you use the middle button drag mode for that smooth sailing.
Whiskers in the Dark by Diego Teran 2023-10-04T13:46:22Z
Charming and technically impressive! Makes me wonder what the deeper story is of the game.
Wrecking Jail by Guilloteam 2023-10-03T20:45:37Z
Super polished and great looking game! Good job!
CERT by tjm 2023-10-02T18:40:58Z
Very cool concept! It reminds me a bit about the Witness in the way you learn new rules as you go along.
Pixel Piles by Gabriel Chan 2023-10-04T12:56:14Z
Way harder than regular tetris, but it's a really cool game.
Under Infiltrate by josep93 2023-10-02T22:02:49Z
Intriguing! I like the claustrophobic surreal atmosphere. The gameplay is short but sweet.
The only thing I would change is that you recharge immediately on appearing, since there is no mechanical reason you'd ever not just wait.
Prickle by Kultuk 2023-10-04T13:13:19Z
Really nice art style and good puzzles. The rotation mechanic feels a bit unfair at times as it blocks rotations you think you should be able to make, but that's just something you can get used to.
CosmoTrasher by Prologi 2023-10-04T13:08:01Z
Fun little mining game **"In Space".** The grappling hook mechanic works well and there is a clear progression. Wish there was some kind of punishment for flying out into space though, like you losing all your coins.
Packed to the Gills by npckc 2023-10-03T21:22:36Z
Surprisingly fun and very thematic.
Tiny Rocket by jacobwinters 2023-10-02T21:36:17Z
Very difficult game with a cute spaceship. The way the orbit updates as you fly is also really cool.
As an improvement I would suggest the ability to thrust at a much slower speed by holding some button, so you could carefully adjust the orbit.
Escape The Walls by purplexy 2023-10-04T09:07:18Z
And so he killed two innocent pigeons.
Very stressful indeed.
Boxed In by raassh23 2023-10-02T18:16:48Z
The bubble physics feel so real.
Nice Park! by Barbabulle 2023-10-03T21:35:57Z
Like Micromachines or GTA 1. You had a lot of little detail and fluff in the environment which made the world feel alive. The car handling was also good.
Space Ltd by The XJ Project 2023-10-03T21:16:30Z
Fun game. I'd expect them to pack more Dogecoin though.
Clearing space by Sevansevan 2023-10-02T18:23:11Z
Quite a brain teaser! I do like it when the solution was something you didn't expect at first, like the mechanic where you could push flowers between pots.
