Wow this game is really fun! Great idea :)
Nicely done! We had the same idea in mind, yet ended up creating pretty different games. I like the music and the intro sequence - good job telling the player what's going on. Also good overall difficulty curve, you can feel how it get's more intense after each planet.
Audio is kinda annoying, its really high pitched
@alexander-tan sorry about that, some other people like the music, maybe a matter of taste ... i hope you enjoy the game though (without the music :-) )
I really like the music. The artstyle is pretty good too, but the high-res background clashes a bit against the cartoony foreground. The gameplay is challenging but not impossible.
Overall a nice little game.
One of my favorites I've played so far! It's just a super solid game: the goal is easy to understand, the difficulty ramps up perfectly, the aesthetic is cohesive and easy to read. Very nice.
Some random things that were really cool: the intro/outro scenes, the death animation, the movement scheme (felt weird at first, but had a nice predictability to it after I got used to it)
My one nitpick is that it's kinda hard to be aware of how much air/gas you have because they're just numbers off to the left side, while your attention is always at the right side of the screen. Some graphical representation like bars, closer to the player's focus, would be an improvement I think.
Still, this was really fun, and I had to play it till I beat it!
@nick-rafalski thanks a lot for the feedback ! indeed, i was thinking about transparent bars to show up near the player but i didn't have time to implement it, sorry.
@donitz I agree, background doesn't fit well but i had to made a tradeoff with what i had to do in time.
Fun idea! I like the graphics, especially the space background. Good job!
I loved the story telling bits and all the animations! The gameplay feels alright, but the collision box of the items seems too small. It feels like it is easy to hit some flying rock (the most satisfying thing to do in this game ) but hard to hit the items. Overall a very solid game!
Great job on this compo entry. I actually enjoyed the audio. I also agree the hit box seemed a little tight, at least for picking up the key items. A little upset that once I respawned right into a spike and was killed without having a chance to jump.
awesome game, lvl3 felt impossible, cut scene was spectacular, Goodjob
Game was fun, but a bit easy (or maybe i was a bit lucky :D). Also if you get "killed" and you reappear on the screen, protection time is not enough. I literally got placed on top of a rock which wasted me right away. So this part is a bit unfair.
Liked this one. Suprised you did cutscenes for compo, they look great! A few of the games I've actually completed :v Would be even better if 'grid' spacing was a bit more wide, as I was frequently confused if I am going to be crushed by asteroid or not, it isn't the most obvious part there.
I like the cutscenes; both the intro and outro, and the between-level ones; they're a really nice touch. Gameplay-wise, I like the controls, they feel interesting. I think sometimes the key items (nut, wretch, screw) fly a bit too fast to see them come; you don't really need to know what's behind you, so you could have the main character be to the left rather than spot in the middle so that you get more reaction time for the key items.
Still, it's quite a lot of content for such a small time, especially the animations, which give the game a nice little narrative. Great job!
Functional, finished game that works well. I only wish the hitboxes were a bit tighter, and that the items came around in a curve rather than a straight line! Could also make the jetpack controls a bit more like "Copter", which would make sense given the gravity theme is right there.
good game.
Neat game, it took me a moment to realize you could move around on a grid, but once I did controlling the astronaut got way easier. Nice work!
This is a really fun game! I love the little intro sequence and the simplicity yet addictive nature of the game. I did find it to be hard to collect things as it appears the collision boxes for the "good things" are significantly smaller than the "bad things" that kill you. The animations are so fun and I noticed that the "life" counter does not get reduced when I died which I took advantage of and sort of enjoyed more to allow me to make more risky moves in order to finish quicker. Perhaps that's a good mode to have! A timer based so that dying is no big deal but if you want the best score/unlock the next blah blah blah then you need to finish it in this amount of time. Good job!
Nice game and innovative idea! Liked the running on the planet part and the obstacles avoidance both on the planet and in space. The movement was very smooth. Didn't feel the effect of the gas and air much maybe you can make these resources more scarce and so more valuable. The pattern was too repetitive, to solve that you can make more parts and so the list doesn't have to be only the three parts. Regardless, that is a solid entry. Good job :)
Nice work on the cutscenes. Maaaan, volcano is _hard_ though! :volcano: Think the collision bounds could be a bit more forgiving but otherwise it's a really neat game.
