came for cats and artstyle, stayed a while for the tamagotchi feeling. liked it overall, would be even more awesome with more tasks than just cleaning poop
Pretty nice game, simple idea and nice execution. Your artstyle made me want to try this game and graphics/sounds remained the highlight for me while playing aswell.
I like your idea alot. The Voxelgraphic looks pretty clean and consistent around the whole scenery. Player- and cameramovement are pretty nice aswell, would've liked a way to choose different colors other than buttonmashing rightclick though.
i was watching one of your streams the first night i guess, when you had the monster model opened in blender. glad i found your game here, it's pretty enjoyable, even though i fail to make any success :)
love the graphics in combination with the sound, feels somewhat like hieroglyphs with egyptian music. but i felt like the controls (zqsd) are a bit unintuitive (at least for me)
really liked the game. i now feel understood in my daily struggles. getting circled and screamed at by the fangirls made me smile irl
The voice acting had me laughing so much, that i actually played through the whole game. Great humor and realisation!
Your game is so damn cute. Love the graphics, love the sound. Incredibly challenging, but still doesnt feel frustrating due to the scenery.
@Martynas Thanks, @Aker will be proud to hear, since its her first time doing animations and gamedev!
@Sashbros Yeah we noticed the gameplay right now is a lot of trial and error, but didn't notice since we were playtasting regularly during developement :D Thanks!
@themadprogramer Actually it was supposed to be an even slower puzzle game, where you have to use a lot of precision while using certain skill, but we couldn't implement it in time. Our Timemanagement was a bit off, mainly because I'm not used to coding alone and wasted a lot of time Bugfixing instead of implementing! Thanks!
@Stirling Yeah, we had a couple problems with that, because it was my first time working in 2D in Unity. I used too many edge colliders to fix clunky floor parts, which resulted in jumping and instantly resetting the "Player is in air" state instantly because of the round shape of the edge collider. Thank you!
@chaczyk Thanks :D Yeah we're aware of that specific bug, for the first half of the jam I was the only playtester and its crazy to me how many bugs I missed, just because I played the walkthroughs pretty much the same every run. Lesson learned! :D
You did a great job on your humorous settings with your graphics, plot twist and audio. I think it wouldve been cool if the controllable unit would look a little more different to the shielding units. When trying to focus where to throw I always lost track of where I am.
I just played your game and it was pretty fun, even though i didn't manage to win in about ten tries :) My best achievement was where i got all chickens and had only two girls left. The music was pretty intense and made me a bit nervous about winning, lol. The biggest eyecatcher was imo the multi-layered background, which i haven't seen realized like that before. It contributed to a great atmosphere as it made the world feel "deeper" even though its just a 2D Platformer. I got stuck twice near the girl very left on the map and wished to have a reset button, I F5'd the page instead. Also it would be cool if the Gamecontrols and Gametimer would freeze until "ok" on the Text message in the beginning. Some of the obstacles (the thin grey with red peak) seemed like the are just visuals and not real gameobjects. All in all I really enjoyed your game, good job!!
Great game! It took me 290.35 seconds to win. I think most of the time was wasted in the second level, because i didn't get the game concept at first, lol. Hope you'll update it some day with more levels.
I think you managed to build a game fitting to the event theme. I like the approach about sacrificing oneself instead of others. I would've liked if the countdown timer didnt start before the first text, so i can read it first. I think it would've been interesting to see the aliens come from differnet directions and maybe each type of alien having its own attack. GJ on your first entry :)
We had a pretty similar idea of sacrificing yourself. I think a bit of sounds or music would improve the joy while playing it, even though if its free-to-use sounds, that are widely used by others aswell. Excited to see your submission and improvements for the next ludum dare!
Definitely one of the best LD44 entries I've tried so far. Really innovative, feels really well rounded/ complete!
Well rounded and good entry! For a while I felt like upgrading is always worth it, but then I overdid it and simply lost.
I like your animation, good job. I found it a bit hard to keep track of chasing enemies, would've liked if I could look back somehow (maybe with mouse movement). At least I managed to win the stage by walking on grass on my third try :D
I really like your design choice. UI and Menu are definitely top notch for LD entries. Also I really like the 2D/3D mixture. Sometimes it felt like I had to run into the objects for too long to make them move, maybe the player hitbox is not perfectly aligned with the sprite or something, I don't know. The CTRL-mechanic is really interesting and well done, maybe my favorite part of the game.
Hey, I really like your game. The hitboxes feel really good and responsive. It felt always fair losing or winning. Got some counterstrike knife duel flashbacks. Maybe the blood part of the game could be added to the actual game so that you can/have to "pick up" the blood of your enemies or something.
Your game looks and sounds really well rounded and professional. Controls felt great aswell, but the gameplay was way too difficult for me. I can manage winning the first two planets, but everything is way too fast and too hard to see for me, but I probably just suck :)
@j0ye Since it is an upwards platformer and needs a punishing downfall, I thought it is the best to use a Rigidbody2D, so I controlled the rest of the movement with it aswell. I didn't put enough time into it, other than limiting maximum speed and height, though. Thank you for playing and giving me feedback!
sebastien-bourgeois Thank you! You are definitely right, I didn’t focus enough on making the controls enjoyable. Next time I’ll focus more on playtesting inbetween to notice whacky controls faster. :)
anna-karpova, donitz, hypp I kinda enjoy giving the players a hard time by making the game difficult. However I couldn’t do it exactly as I wanted, since Level design is pretty time consuming as a Compo Beginner. Thanks alot for your feedback!
I had 2 level that were solved instantly and was stuck at an unsolvable level, which was kind of frustrating. Otherwise your game is really neat, I really like the jumping animation!
Your level design actually impressed me, even though I didn't manage to win the stage, guess that's on me. I really like the Lego-style of the main blocks and background. Movement was quite difficult for me, as some non-english keyboards don't have 'z' on the bottom left of the keyboard. E.g. the german keyboard has y and z switched, so I had to stretch my fingers quite a bit, since it was a main mechanic on Z.
I really like your design choice, feels nostalgic and authentic. Since you wrote about some other tools you used, may I ask what program you used for making the sprites?
Neat concept and game, although I would prefer if the map was infinite or repeating and not limited on every side!
I like your game, especially your artstyle. Your game is kinda a sidescroller pacman. I don't know if this is already the fixed physics version, but jumping feels completely fine to me. I also like random generated level, but I felt there were kind of a lot situation where it lead to unsolvable obstacles.
