It remembers me Factorio, had good time playing it, really liked it

mao 2023-10-02 14:50

Cool! I didn't realize at first that I had to put belts on top of the sources to get the items, but I got it pretty quickly.

greynovembergames 2023-10-03 00:05

Once I figured out what i was doing, it was pretty fun! nice!

scottmakesgames 2023-10-03 03:29

I love factory games so much. The music is nice, the space is indeed limited! It opened with a divide-by-zero error, but that didn't seem to affect gameplay. It just makes me feel more immersed into the role of a factory manager ๐Ÿ˜

Overall I really enjoyed this one, good work ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

anciententity 2023-10-03 03:34

@scottmakesgames I appreciate it haha. Just wanting to verify you were able to click through that? I think it's due to the way I do a delta time calculation :|

scottmakesgames 2023-10-03 03:36

@anciententity Yes! As far as I can tell, it had no negative impact on the game at all

rmheuer 2023-10-03 04:26

This game is probably the most fun one I've played so far, I'm a big fan of factory games like this! It took me a bit to figure out you had to put conveyors on the generators though. It's a fun puzzle to keep everything relatively compact :)

strato 2023-10-03 04:34

This is a lot of fun. I love factory games and having to build a factory that isn't a spaghetti mess while on a timer is a tough challenge.

euix 2023-10-03 04:35

Routing things in factory games is one of the best parts about those games, and that's all there is in this game. Nice micro puzzle game. Would have liked to see a little more polish (corner belts) and perhaps some mechanic involving spending the money (points) accumulated, for some extra management aspect.

amirrajan 2023-10-03 04:43

Enjoyed the concept a lot! The time pressure was rough and it would be cool to have a pause mechanic to think about how to plot things out (or maybe some kind of turn-based setup).

tw01c 2023-10-03 05:21

Very funny game! I love it, I almost filled all the grids.

mrtroy 2023-10-03 05:27

Thank you for releasing a tutorial video. Now I have no one to blame except myself. :sob: My goodness I keep putting things in the wrong location, and if I had read the instructions I would've known how to remove things. This game is a good time.

wook 2023-10-03 05:31

what a fun game! I wasn't able to get past 11 because holy once 1 thing goes wrong you just lose it haha. It's a really fun concept and only takes once or twice to get a hang of

I would suggest you tell the player that they have to put a conveyer ON the green square to get items to pop out because that stumped me for a bit, but overall great game!

doommustard 2023-10-03 05:38

this is the smoothie you get when you put factorio and mini metro in a blender and it's kinda cursed but in a good way.

0xrainbow 2023-10-03 05:44

kinda reminded me of shapez io but with pixel art

nuin 2023-10-03 05:58

Nice little game :)

crylica 2023-10-03 10:12

I got a bit confused at the start since I didn't know you had to put a conveyor underneath the generator tile to start the flow. It's really good! Some pointers on the art style - try using an online colour palette and it'll make the game a lot more readable! The colours are quite saturated and its a bit hard to read visually.

don-fouts 2023-10-03 12:34

This is a great entry! I love the style and the controls feel responsive/snappy. Also an amazing take on the theme, overall this was really cool to play. Nice work!

kaimon 2023-10-03 12:51

Great entry ! The factory game is fun to play and i wanted to optimised everything path I did.

bstabuu 2023-10-03 13:18

Pretty fun and challenging. I think underground conveyors should have a direction arrow just like the regular conveyors and newly spawned sources and outputs should be highlighted as they could be hard to see when there's a lot of stuff in the factory.

phillip-scott 2023-10-03 13:52

pretty fun, agree with the direction arrows on the undergrounds I get getting confused. Game overall is fun good mix of frantic and trying to optimize your belts.

shidygames 2023-10-03 15:40

I was very confused at the beginning about how to make a conveyor line. Looked at the screenshots to understand that you had to place the first of the line on top of the green icon. Otherwise, pretty cool stuff!

nick-baggett 2023-10-03 16:58

Great entry! I too was confused at first but once I got it I enjoyed it a lot! Really great take on the theme.

nillard 2023-10-03 17:23

Limited space, limited time too! Great job on the gifs showing you how to play, very helpful.

xeniarta 2023-10-04 01:45

It's fun to play once you figure out how everything interacts) At first it was hard for me to figure out how to make the conveyers do what I need them to do, but it's good that this page has gif with gameplay that basically shoves how to do everything. The art is nice and fits to gameplay perfectly, music helps to create the mood. It turned out I'm not a good player at factory games, so I wasn't progressing good, and surprisingly the money that always going down and not up really got me nervous  But it was a fun experience)

yapalot 2023-10-04 02:11

Great idea for the theme! I really like the old style NES/SNES style music. Nice job guys!

broondoon 2023-10-04 02:37

There's a bit of a confusing first run or two, but once you get the hang of it the game feel pretty good to play!

Once you're deep in, it's hard to tell where the new in/out ports appear. Maybe a little animation or effect to draw your eye to them would help.

logan-core 2023-10-04 04:16

I started having flashbacks to my hundreds of logged hours in Factorio while playing this. I made it to level 12! Very fun game! Good work!

firefox_i3zzSmaRos.png

tomknocker44 2023-10-04 05:16

As a fan of Factorio, this game was pretty fun. I found it a little confusing at the start, but after a few tries I figured it out. I would love to see this idea fleshed out with more parts.

avi 2023-10-04 06:15

really fun game! This was quite the timesink for me :)

I did have some trouble getting started however -- found it tricky/confusing to understand how to get the items to move onto the conveyor belt at from the green tiles.

Side note: Woah! how did you manage to deploy the game on webgl?! I've struggled with deployments on pygame -- the best i've done is release pygames on pypi hahaha

lincolnsalles 2023-10-04 06:15

Interesting, but I think I'm a bit slow when it comes to factory games. Even watching the video I missed something. After turning on the first few I get lost. This is beyond my limited capabilities accustomed to platform games and the like. But it's on topic. The music is a little tiring, but it's in the factory theme. It seems challenging, I'm not good at this type of game...

anciententity 2023-10-04 06:20

@avi The library is called pygbag, I found it for this jam. It's honestly amazing, requires a little bit of fiddling but almost none to get it to work.

henno 2023-10-04 09:18

I love this game ! Very nice to play ! Great Job !

floke 2023-10-04 09:36

Reminds me of my factorio failures. I like it!

Once you placed a few things, it is hard to find out where the new entry / exit points are. I ultimately lost because I couldnt find the newly generator and it backed up. Some "Exclamation mark" indicators where things go wrong would be helpful!

Aside from that, visible belt movement would do wonders to the graphics! It does look very nice and helps you quickly telling where belts go.

Great entry!

xuefeng 2023-10-04 10:21

i love factory games and i'm very happy to see a factory game in LD! I love pixel arts too! but some icons are too similar with the background XD

lupercalia 2023-10-04 12:29

despite the shortcomings mentioned already: no moving belts, how to "unbackup" generators in your first tries and the problem of finding the new generators in later stages of the game: VERY well done! It's awesome that you implemented a factorio-style gameplay. Its limitations fit the theme and i like those little items you implemented. :)

donitz 2023-10-04 13:27

Extremely stressful. Like others have pointed out, it's like a mini-factorio.

Hmm. A factorio rogue-like is not at all a bad idea.

smitner 2023-10-04 13:48

Can't beat a factory game! I liked it and it was quite challenging.

However it took me some time in the start to figure out I need to place the conveyor belt __on__ the producer.

rend 2023-10-04 18:20

Took me a while to figure how the conveyor belts were working, and I think the red arrow might be the culprit here, being the same color at the object destination. But when I got everything figured out, it was really fun and pretty challenging, yet addictive. Nice job!

little-doctor-games 2023-10-04 19:19

Cool little Zachtronics inspired game! Took a bit of time to figure out how the game worked but once I did I was able to have some fun with it. Overall I feel that the conveyance in the game could have been a bit better, and the difficulty curve is pretty steep, but very impressive to have implemented the systems in the game in such a short amount of time. Nice work, thanks for bringing it to the stream!

xcarl 2023-10-05 02:39

Fun game! It fits the theme perfectly. Good job!

rena 2023-10-05 05:54

This game is really addicting!! It took a while to understand how to connect the rails so that the product flowed, but once you get the hang of it, it's intuitive and super satisfying. I was definitely bopping to the music. I did notice that sometimes the generators spawned at the edge of the map and generated in the direction of the border where you couldn't build any rails. Maybe if the player could change the direction of the generator it would avoid this? Also, I had generators spawning in the direction of a previously set up rail as well, which sent the product to the wrong receiver. It would be really helpful if there was some sort of method to delete rails you set down to prevent this bug. Overall, I really liked it! I'll come back to play it again :)

anciententity 2023-10-05 14:33

@Rena You can delete objects with right click! Thanks for playing it!

rena 2023-10-05 16:19

@anciententity ohh you're so right. I missed that!

frib 2023-10-05 17:54

Fun little game! I'd love it if it was more clear which two nodes just spawned, as it gets a bit hard to notice later on, as you only have a few seconds to find them before getting a game over. Also I'd love to be able to just build over existing belts rather than having to delete them first.

Good stuff, though!

smiley405 2023-10-05 21:53

i'll have to admit its a bit tricky after time goes on. the magic tool is the right mouse click to remove the blocks which i only found out really late  enjoyed playing it. loved the game concept.

dsk 2023-10-06 03:33

Really cool game! It gives me a sense of production line planning, and I absolutely love the concept of the game. Itโ€™s so addictive to play, canโ€™t get enough of it!

chybby 2023-10-06 06:14

Watching the items zoom along the conveyors was satisfying. Difficulty seemed wildly variable. My first try I got really unlucky with spawns and only lasted a couple minutes. My next try I got pretty lucky with spawns until one very unlucky one which screwed me over.

destroyertech 2023-10-06 10:31

Great concept and well-executed. I agree with some previous posters that it seems a little luck-based with the spawns; also got a bit confused at the start as to what was causing some specific game over conditions (like items overtimed); but these are really minor nitpicks, overall very fun; also really nice to see a Python game with a web build.

hagamosvideojuegos 2023-10-06 23:03

My first time was really bad but... after feeling like I can't stop playing I have to admit, I love it!

Well done! Take a candy! :candy:

olddog 2023-10-07 10:14

level 9 is my limit, love this game so much, enjoy the belts system, while the level design is so random,it have no room at all after few items appears

3mpty 2023-10-07 10:15

Cool music and great concept, I think it would be cool if eventually sources/receivers turned off over time, so you are encouraged to redesign the factory to deal with changing conditions.

There are definitely some issues, it can be way too easy to lose at times even when you're doing well, and some spawns can just straight up murder your run, some small tweaks to make it a bit less evil would be nice in that regard, but overall it's fun and I really like placing belts.

The UX on placing stuff was a little annoying, it would be nice if I could click and drag belts and they would orient correctly, and I think underground belt entrances should automatically swap you to exits when you place one to make it a bit easier.

Finally the game state can be a bit muddy, better highlighting of which producers and items arent being handled would really help identify problems faster rather than hunting for the straight square.

Overall very cool and fun little minigame, loved it.

danyclockworker 2023-10-07 20:46

Cool little game, convenient controls, and a great 8-bit sound!

2thegamechanger 2023-10-08 16:05

I thought about a factory optimization game too, i had idle factory in mind. I found it really clever that you combined that with Snake-like space limiting. And i also love factorio so this one is a home run : D Well done!

dxk2294 2023-10-08 20:25

Oh man, this was a fun one. And the great music really helped to keep me playing  I was thrown off a couple times by having to place a conveyor belt _on_ the item source itself, but I understand why that's needed. I also would have liked a click + drag with convenience underground belt placement. But I still had a blast, great job!

ogelgames 2023-10-09 04:04

Awesome little game, the music fit the gameplay very well! It got quite challenging as the factory filled up, but it was very fun to play!

neowedge 2023-10-09 08:42

Funny and addictive game, nice entry!

ruslana 2023-10-09 20:05

It's a great mix of game mechanics that keeps involved for some time !

ategon 2023-10-10 05:40

Hey, Iโ€™m the host of the Ludum Dare score chasers tournament for this jam

Wanted to ask for score chasers if you were fine with me playing some gameplay of your game in the background in the waiting period. In the waiting period while a music track is playing itll cycle through gameplay from a bunch of different games in the background

anciententity 2023-10-10 15:37

@ategon. Sure! Where can I see it?

skel3ton 2023-10-16 18:25

interesting concept. Personally, I would appreciate it if there was no timer and I would just build until the man... in the next levels I would just rebuild, but the tension would disappear :D

nice game, thanks for it

aurailus 2023-10-18 19:11

This is a super fun little game! I had a great time playing, I got to about level 16 before dying because I couldn't tell where the output I was for the new piece. It would be nice if the game highlighted unsatisfied generators / consumers so that you don't lose track of them when the game starts getting more hectic. It would be really fun to play this as like a five-minute high-score game on mobile!
