LD52 — Harvest

Crisis in Banana Republic by one-seed-fruit 2023-01-18T23:35:56Z

Nice game, but quite frustrating for me, too. The first levels were already so hard, I was about to give up but solved one by accident so I kept going. It took ages until I solved level 7, then I got 8 and 9 after only a few tries, maybe I was lucky there. Then on level 10 I finally gave up.

Aside from the level of frustration, a nice game! Well done!

Red Owl LD 52 by Rocktavious 2023-01-16T19:36:17Z

Looks and sounds good, but the movement seems to be a bit off for me - it always looked like I was one tile behind of where I actually was since the camera is quite far back. Well done!

CCCPop & juice (Урожай Поп и сок) by LoicLeGrosFrere 2023-01-23T17:20:50Z

Damn, that vehicle is near impossible to control well, but it serves as a nice challenge. The music is a bit weird but somehow fits perfectly. Well done!

Stonks: The Video Game by Flokami 2023-01-16T19:28:19Z

I got the same pineapple question 3 times in the first 7 days, it gets repetetive really fast - maybe you could show each promt only once or reference the first choice in some way. Also the X button rarely worked for me. Other than that, quite a funny game!

YAHG - Yet Another Harvesting Game by Jvdwijk 2023-01-25T14:22:13Z

I like the direction, but it needs a lot of polishing, especially the combat. It is very unclear how much range the melee attacks have, a visual or audio clue would be great! The tutorial is really well done, telling you exactly what to do, the voice also fits perfectly. It is quite weird being unable to move at the beginning, I thought my keyboard didn't work...

Protect the Garden by Buni 2023-01-16T22:30:19Z

Thank you all for your kind feedback!

I agree that the game is very hard in its current state, especially at the beginning. 5$ starting money is a bit too harsh, it is really difficult to survive the first few waves without any HP loss.

We sadly didn't have time to include descriptions for each plant, but I think it is interesting to place a new plant and wait to see what it will do. Or at least it would be interesting, if it is clearly visible what's happening, which the last two types definitely fail to do. For anyone still wondering: - the broccoli boosts adjacent plants, either increasing fire rate or damage - the watermelon rolls in a line through the map, dealing massive damage but it vanishes afterwards

Thank you again for your comments!

Backyard Fruitball by twchapman 2023-01-25T14:42:56Z

Damn, my brain melted during this. Got a score of 3, though 2 were luck.

I really like the idea!

LD53 — Delivery

Strange Zoo by khaotom 2023-05-03T07:17:15Z

I liked it a lot, especially the audio - that alien gibberish when you deliver incorrect food is a nice feedback. It got boring quite fast though.

LD53: House Delivery! by burnedkirby 2023-05-01T21:33:54Z

Does it get faster with time? It doesn't seem so, so you could just run indefinitely? I tried to get as fast as possoble after a while because I got bored, it is quite repetetive. More houses (where you have to press different buttons) or other stuff could make it a bit fancier.

The "tutorial" text also gets annoying after some time, it made me feel like a child whose parents have to tell them a billion times not to eat yellow snow.

Fangs and Fury by Rodrigo Denúbila 2023-05-09T07:09:01Z

I like the idea, but you feel so slooow. Once I figured out what rightclick does I kept just rolling around since it is faster. The animations for attacking and dodging feel very good and the indicators work well too!

I've seen quite a few Unity games here playing at the wrong resolution, but yours fits perfectly without any scrollbars at the side. How did you achieve this? I had problems with that too, so I'd appreciate a hint.

Watching by Jajo 2023-05-01T23:23:17Z

The game gets repetetive really quick. You can just sit anywhere on the screen, not moving while spamming space, and still kill all monsters. Some varying in enemy movement patterns, obstacles to restrict player movement and a weapon cooldown are easy ways to prevent this. The boss surprised me, then I actually had to move.

While I personally did not have any problems running the game, it seems most people only have Java 8 installed while you compiled it with Java 11 (which has class file version 55). If you can, I recommend uploading a Java 8 version of your game to allow more people to try it. Making a game in Java already heavily limits how many people cam play it - I've been there too...

Little boat delivery adventures! by freamdev 2023-05-02T12:33:37Z

The boat felt a bit slow, but it fits the calm setting. It sometimes was hard to see where I was going since the camera does not rotate.

I recommend setting the sprite interpolation to "nearest", currently you probably have it on "bilinear". This makes the pixel art sharp instead of looking blurry.

The game took like 15 seconds to load into, both here and on your website, I see that in your video it happens without any delay - no idea why this is happening, might be a problem on my end. I also had no music.

A Town in Labor by EvoGenGames 2023-05-01T23:08:06Z

I also played it in Google Sheets, thanks for that tip. I tried using OpenOffice Calc first - that does not work, the map stays blank.

This was probably the most challenging and definitely the most unique game I played so far. I only managed to beat the first level, the second already had my brain melt... Very cool idea!

Urgent Delivery by Tom Cumpsty 2023-05-01T21:19:04Z

I did not understand a lot, the camera sometimes just got stuck I think. It is a cool idea though! I laughed at the random pregnant women dropping in!

The Pigeon Post Principle by cassowary 2023-05-01T21:38:14Z

I'm way too impatient for puzzle games, so I can't really say too much about the gameplay. The art and sound is just perfect though, everything fits together and feels so smooth. If I'd see this game on itch or similar, I would never guess it is a jam entry made in only two days. Well done.

Mail Day Mayday! by Thomas_Bringer 2023-05-02T16:58:34Z

Very nice game. I like the gradual introduction of new things, but the difficulty doesn't seem very high.

I found it hard to guess where a package will be after dropping it, the indicator was not bright and the "aim" felt weird. Often it got placed on a tile to the left or right. Some of the tutorials also broke after I did something wrong, having overlapping text.

Pizza Puzzle by Paroxysmal 2023-05-01T21:30:42Z

Nice game, I think you found a very satisfying jump, it feels perfect. The puzzles are quite challenging (at least for me), I struggled to solve even the most basic levels.

I really like the art. Well done!

Crystallium by MikoziQ 2023-05-01T21:25:13Z

I love the graphics. Those melting tiles are awesome.

However, I think you let the gameplay suffer too much in favor of the graphics. The turning felt clunky, and the collision felt really off sometimes too. I'd suggest focusing on a satisfying gameplay first, then add fancy graphics afterwards if you have some time left. I made the exact same mistake, too (with less awesome graphics).

Moonrabbit Collection by DaFluffyPotato 2023-05-08T12:36:10Z

The graphics are awesome. The pixel art, the wind animations, the falling leaves, the fireflies. It all combines into a great mood. Really beautiful. The vignette is really well done, too. I see in the comments that everyone interprets it a bit different, for me it creates some kind of loneliness feeling, like being lost in this magic forest. If the palette of the game was darker, it would probably also greatly introduce a feeling of fear.

The soundtrack is also great, adding to a calm setting. I really like it.

However, the gameplay feels bland. People tell you to search for their lost stuff for them, you do so, and - that was it. You don't really see any interesting stuff or unlock anything, or feel like there is a purpose in bringing the stuff back to them. I understand the heavy time constraints, but I think you focused too much on visuals and audio and thus the gameplay had to suffer. It is by no means bad - just boring.

With a bigger world and some upgrades, tasks, enemies or whatever one might find interesting, I can see this game becoming an actually successful title. If you ever want to make a non-jam version out of it, I'd buy it!

B.H.M.D.S. by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-05-01T13:19:16Z

Nice game! The latter levels were quite challenging. It took 20 minutes to solve the last one.

Delivery Champ by Brandon Campbell 2023-05-01T21:16:43Z

Nice game. I managed to never press a single wrong button! Didn't really achieve a high score though...

I ended up swapping between the two botton beds, ignoring the two on top completely. Maybe some "urge" mechanic could be added, so you have to take care of everyone in time.

Drifty Delivery Service by Adan1032 2023-05-01T22:37:19Z

The OpenAL error still appears for me. Are you sure you completely removed it? I would love to try your game, it looks fun.

Drifty Delivery Service by Adan1032 2023-05-03T07:24:07Z

I'm happy to finally being able to play your game! :D

It is quite challenging to deliver the packages. The controls are exactly what the name implies... drifty. I like it! It goes by way too fast though.

Solar Express by Jellybean 2023-05-18T18:49:34Z

Very creative! I like the concept, very interesting. I suggest you could add a time limit to some deliveries, so you have to take a suboptimal route at times. I think it would be cool to add some moons too!

It would also be nice to show the planet names at all times when zoomed out, I took some time to find makemake (never heard of that one before) and their small shapes can be difficult to distinguish from the stars.

Ultimate Package by Triangle Point 2023-05-01T21:03:52Z

I had a lot of problems with the camera, it kept teleporting around, snapping to different rooms all the time. I don't see anyone else in the comments talking about that, so maybe it was a problem on my end.

Apart from that, it is a great and very... creative game. Very interesting submission :D

Ultimate Package by Triangle Point 2023-05-01T21:46:40Z

@triangle-point I just tried it again, it only happens in full-screen mode. I default to playing all Unity entries on fullscreen instead of windowed, since somehow all of them are cut off around the sides and often some UI elements are outside of the window.

When playing normally, I only experience some jitter where I had the teleporting before. So it seems to have problems with the upscaled resolution.

Grocery store by dUmMy432 2023-05-02T09:18:09Z

This is quite challenging. Even after a few tries, I couldn't get a better rating than 3. I like how you incorporated two different objectives in it. The level starts are both very sudden, I think it would be better to have a "3-2-1-Go" countdown so you have time to prepare.

Ricardo's Busy Day by Floke 2023-05-01T11:50:08Z

The controls are quite difficult to get into, I agree. I recommend pressing the buttons in advance, as the game will remember what direction you press and will turn at the next possible junction. So if you press LEFT, the player will choose the left path (if there is one) at the first opportunity.

Ricardo's Busy Day by Floke 2023-05-02T12:59:44Z

@triangle-point Incredible that you actually liked the song - it was the first time I ever "composed" anything, and I just clicked buttons until it somewhat resembled the melody I had in my head. I showed the game to a friend who is a music teacher and the first thing he did was mute the game...

@kent-lizardo @brandon-campbell @cantthinkofaname Yes, the controls are quite fuzzy and unintuitive. It definitely is something to fix as soon as possible if I want to continue on this game.

@trakina @tom-cumpsty The UI was supposed to be more distant from the top roads. I had to move it down after finding out I used the wrong resolution when creating the game, and they rendered too far outside. I probably should've used a different bubble color for the UI too but I didn't think about that.

@partysquadmember @adrieldf I'm happy you liked the game!

@squidgod I thought of that too, but the time frame of the jam was definitely too short to implement more than one map. Even this map is quite bland, I wish I had time to add any buildings or scenery.

@candlesan Gald you like it! The input buffering is inspired by Pac-Man (the whole map is aimed to be some kind of "Pac-Man with curved paths").

@kgurniak91 Bonus time for successful deliveries is actually a really good idea, should've thought of that. Well, you can't think of everything...

@thaprofesional Audio cues were planned, but I did not have time to add any good sfx except for a classical "beep", which I don't really like as you can hear it in every second LD game. Not that they are bad, but they simply don't feel unique and do not fit the game either.

Thank you all for playing the game and for the constructive feedback!

Inaka Flowers by SquidGod 2023-05-01T23:50:16Z

Very relaxing! I smiled more and more while playing it, I really like the thought of collecting flowers and gifting them to other people.

I think this does not need much more to be a full game. Add a fitting summer soundtrack, a constantly varying background scenery and maybe some small dialogue from the neighbours, and I could play it for hours. Simply because the peaceful mood makes me so happy.

Really well done!

Box Rush by Phyrocast 2023-05-01T22:47:38Z

Like other people said before me, the camera is way too sensitive. The tutorial says "follow the blue light", however in my opinion the blue light is too subtle and uneasy to find. I was looking for a saturated, clear and "obvious" blue light but the actual light is more lightblue/cyan. It took me a bit to figure it out. The trigger area of the buttons seems to be to small, I had to walk into a very specific spot to activate it. Does character rotation matter? I tried to get him face the button, but struggled to do so. Last, what do I have to do once I put the boxes to the shipping area? I got stuck there.

On the positive side, I really like the boxy character and the walk and idle animation. It really adds to the mood.

Delivery Witch by kgurniak91 2023-05-01T21:28:35Z

I struggled to deliver more than a single box. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get back to the high point and always died in the spikes. I guess I am not a very good delivery witch...

Quite a nice game for a one-day rush, well done!

Deadly Delivery Dash by PotatoCouch 2023-05-01T20:43:27Z

The shoot mechanic is very cool, but it took some time to understand. The game is quite difficult, I had a lot of problems dodging everything - and then suddenly a red guy spawns on top of me...

LD54 — Limited Space

Donut Park Here! by Rongo Matane 2023-10-03T13:12:41Z

This game is awesome, well done! I really like it, it is perfectly fun and chaotic.

I experienced a bug where I couldn't enter vehicles anymore and after restarting the level, no cars spawned at all. But after a restart everything worked fine again!

Tiny Factory by AncientEntity 2023-10-04T09:36:13Z

Reminds me of my factorio failures. I like it!

Once you placed a few things, it is hard to find out where the new entry / exit points are. I ultimately lost because I couldnt find the newly generator and it backed up. Some "Exclamation mark" indicators where things go wrong would be helpful!

Aside from that, visible belt movement would do wonders to the graphics! It does look very nice and helps you quickly telling where belts go.

Great entry!

Tables 95 by Steven Garberg 2023-10-03T08:45:22Z

This game summarizes pretty well what I want to do with Unity after this game jam :D

Great idea, but it gets boring quite fast. The deleting mechanic is unintuitive for me, I first tried to drag&drop into the recycle bin, then attempted to rightclick the icons... I also deleted my homework by accident.

Sworn to Carry by Evanaellio 2023-10-09T10:42:54Z

Very very fun and addicting. There are quite a few "Tetris-like" entries in the jam, but this one stands out with the unique shapes and interesting mechanic of combining the items. It was a bit difficult to find out how it works in the beggining though.

I had a score of 52916 when I lost due to a bug: I placed the final item into a row, automatically picking up a helmet in the process. I could not place the helmet anywhere, even in a completely free 3x3 space, nor could I choose what the row should be combined into. It essencially soft-locked me out of doing anything. Quite sad to lose such a long run to this bug (happened in the web build).

=====

EDIT: I had to play it a second time (yes, it's addicting) and this time, I won! However, I noticed the final score being exactly 25000, but I know that the score was at least already at 37000+ before. It seems like the score is always set to 25k when combining a row of gold items.

Escape The Walls by purplexy 2023-10-04T09:19:33Z

There is a lot of trial and error involved in this game until one finds out what to do in a level. It was very hard to navigate the maze because it is so hard to tell where a gap is in these walls. I'd suggest making them shorter so you can see the floor, it would help a lot. The dashing also felt a bit weird since you had to walk while activating it, otherwise the character would dash on a spot. This made the level where you jump over the logs very hard, I often walked into the acid my accident. The very tall player hitbox made it difficult to navigate the arrow sections, and once I got hit by an arrow the knockback bounced me into another arrow, then into another arrow, killing me quite fast. The last level was a bit unintuitive, maybe you could add some NPC characters that move during the green light, but freeze once it shows red, to tell the player they should do the same. For these "pulling" thingies, it would help to show some particles to instantly grasp their effect and their range.

I do like the pixel art a lot, and you managed to put out very different levels there, it never felt repetetive! I also like the simple, yet effective idea of the walls closing in. Well done!

Station Epsilon by Kyuba 2023-10-03T09:03:14Z

Nice entry! The objective is a bit unclear, it would've helped a lot if the objects actually looked like a screwdriver etc. instead of the colored squares. Also, the "door key" squares share the same colors, which makes it even more confusing. It was also unclear to me whether touching the aliens deals damage. Sometimes the screen was shaking, sometimes not.

Once I found out what to do, it was nice trying to memorize the layout from run to run to get the items faster! Took me around 10 tries to finally beat the game!

Space Ltd. by HangoverGames 2023-10-02T21:52:53Z

This is way too much fun for what it is about. Really well done, simple yet addicting! Love the art and music too!

Ma|n|dness at shopping by andrei.gusan 2023-10-03T12:43:26Z

What a great sense of humor! I definitely experienced this way too often.

The indicators are a bit vague, I thought I should run over them. Took me some time until I noticed they point to the items below them.

I think the game could be more interesting with more unusual "pocket grids", something that is not a classic NxM grid but is triangular or so. Paired with weird item shapes, it would be more interesting to balance the inventory.

Also, where did the guy put his phone? It's not in the pockets nor in his hands, did he drop it onto the floor? :)

LD55 — Summoning

Summoving by BathPirate 2024-04-21T11:56:24Z

Very clever idea! I love the simple but effective art style. The rewind effect when you stranded somewhere is also top notch. What I'm missing is some calm background music, that would fit perfectly!

It does not have enough levels, I completed t too fast and now I want more... :(

Alien Summoner by harusame 2024-04-18T15:19:58Z

Very nice entry! This was very fun. I managed to wipe out the city on my first try, was really cool to see the army of aliens I summoned walk through the city (even if I had to watch them at 2 FPS at times). Nice graphics, fitting sfx and soundtrack, just a really well done submission in general!

My HP bar seemed bugged throughout being transparent, but that didn't stop me from destroying everything.

Summons Racer by paulhocker 2024-04-18T14:46:39Z

Nice and simple game with a really fitting soundtrack! I like the idea of adding police cars, however they kept just hovering near my car doing nothing even after a crash, and sometimes their sprites would bug near the player car. Feels a bit underwhelming, I thought they'd try to stop me or push me off a la GTA / NFS.

The car sprites feel off in a perspective way, they are viewed from the side while the world has a more from-the-top view angle. This also makes it harder to judge if you'll collide with someone or not. If you add some depth to the cars I think it will feel and look much better! :)

Lastly, some distance-o-meter would be nice, right now you have no idea how close you are to the goal.

Was a fun game! :)

Summon-a-Spot by kuggenhoffen 2024-04-17T14:22:47Z

The driving is fun, feels just enough clunky for such a game. The camera was quite restructing sometimes since it doesn't turn with the car.

The graphics side is quite basic however. The black color right behind the level gives the game a very weird isolated atmosphere, and it looks like you've kept all materials at Godots standard settings. Also, some Antialiasing would help a lot with the visual artifacts of the ground bricks.

The menu looks quite bare too.

Cultists on ICE by Pusheeneiro 2024-04-16T14:08:15Z

Quite a fun idea! Really difficult and frustrating... I had a bug multiple times where a cultist (or sometimes multiple) couldn't die anymore, but could also not spawn any blood lines. One time I couldn't finish the level because of this and had to restart the game

Cultists on ICE by Pusheeneiro 2024-04-16T14:21:31Z

Ah, I didnt mean frustrating because of the bug - bad wording there :D The levels were frustrating enough, especially these bouncy blue things. They made me _very_ angry...

An Other Survivor... by Pierre CILLUFFO 2024-04-22T21:44:44Z

As many others already said - great graphics, and audio really fits too!

Gameplay is a bit boring. Feels easy at first, then the difficulty skyrockets. That was a bit sad. Also correct me if I'm wrong here, but the only thing I can do is move and occasionally press space if it's available, right? Not sure if I missed something here, but it felt like I couldn't do much to change anything in a meaningful way.

Attack of the Doom Shrooms by Kyle Spence 2024-04-16T14:47:43Z

I like the graphics and music a lot! The gameplay seems a bit dull however, while the idea is nice I had the most success spamming all keys as fast as possible and unleashing a huge group at once.

Revenge of Lord Chicken by Sergio_gp11 2024-04-21T09:52:35Z

Fun concept, however pretty boring since it is quite easy and the eggs move very slowly. As an idea to make it more interesting, have the eggs not all go to one circle, but spread to all cicles at the same time. You'd have to run back and forth to defend the eggs. Also, I think more enemies and more weapons are always better.

Summoner's Chess by Matt Ravenhall 2024-04-22T22:11:27Z

Nice idea! At first it felt weird, being in a such extreme disadvantage, even with the very generous AI... then I realised i could buy pieces by clicking on the points. The whole time I made it more difficult than it is by thinking "the piece summoning part seems to come later".

With that figured out, it wasn't really difficult anymore. Most of the time 1-2 cheap pieces were enough, and cheesing the AI until it made something dumb / gave up. However with a better AI some of the challenges would be never ending, as for example with the rooks the AI could outrun your pieces forever or make it very expensive for you to force the last rook into being taken, resulting in frustrating gameplay.

So while I think this idea has potential, it still needs refining!

Elemental Frontiers by Floke 2024-04-17T08:33:00Z

@megh-menghani I able to download all three builds, seems like noone else had a problem either. Could you try it again? :)

@poutine-studio I can't test the mac version myself sadly, stuck to the default Godot export settings but on the export page, it already warned Macs will block it... They have their own page on running such games if you would like to try: https://docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/tutorials/export/running_on_macos.html#doc-running-on-macos

Elemental Frontiers by Floke 2024-04-18T21:56:41Z

@satolas That is sad to hear. I googled around a bit and found out that Godot has issues with some AMD graphic cards when using Vulkan... I don't think there is much I can do about it :/

Elementalist's Tower by Furatto 2024-04-21T11:43:43Z

Very nice idea and also fun levels! Although I feel like there is not much depth with this, every spell serves one purpose and they hardly can be combined, except for earth-platform into wind-jump. But for the limited time of a jam, you've put out some nice levels with a perfect increase of difficulty!

One thing that annoyed me that you sometimes stand on a ledge and the camera is quite high, so you can't see what you would drop into. It actually made me quit on the level with lots of spikes on the ground, after a scroll lured me to death.

Crossworld by XRy 2024-04-25T18:35:13Z

Nice game idea. My english vocabulary did not get me very far, I just typed in things google would spit out as synonymes. Didn't get me much points however.

There seems to be a graphics issue where the screen suddenly starts flashing. Moving the window fixes it for a few seconds but it consistently comes back which is really annoying. Also the window is kinda too big for my screen, the bottom line of the error message is rendered outside but I can't set it to fullscreen either, so some errors I had to guess.

Something I noticed is that you are assuming a QWERTY layout for your input. I have a QWERTZ keyboard so I mistyped Y/Z several times

TNT Summoning Master!!!!! by Bx007 2024-04-17T14:38:57Z

Really fun and addicting. Fitting graphics and sound. Well done! Quite frustrating at times when you hit the spikes just before the goal...

The Alchemy Show by LightOfGloRy 2024-04-20T11:19:01Z

As others mentioned, it is very unclear how the game works, quite frustrating. The concept is interesting but it gets repetitive quickly.

The graphics and sound is fine, but the gameplay side feels unpolished, you constantly get stuck and the coins are often landing in inaccessible areas. Sometimes the ingredients I bought spawned outside in inaccessible area, too.

Overall a good idea and good looking, but you need to focus more on making it fun to play!

ColorMon by FloweryAndy 2024-04-20T11:33:25Z

This has defininitely interesting graphics :D Quite fun, sadly it crashed when I entered the cave. I haven't really understood where the color comes in

Also the world is very tiny but that's probably due to the time limit :)

Summons Sprint by tstapely07 2024-04-17T14:31:20Z

Fun game! The graphics are a bit too blocky for my taste. The time limits are quite generous, I managed beat every level on the first try.

Well done!

Dance Dance Summoner by Deoxx 2024-04-26T12:54:54Z

The graphics are absolutely awesome, I love it! The audio is fitting too, well done!

I can't say much about the gameplay because I don't like button combo games. There were way too many monsters for me causing me to panic and just spam random buttons.

I definitely want to see more games use an art style like this, again, it is great.

Courier for Conjure by dotiocat 2024-04-24T21:56:14Z

I like that it has a tutorial built in! I found it very hard at the beginning, that candle room requires very precise platforming. The other rooms then were quite easy in contrast, as they had much less hazards and required far less precise platforming. The time of five minutes is, in my opinion, quite long. I felt bored after one minute, since it is just repeat at that point, and when the grave level opened at ~3 minutes remaining it was only a short joy until it got back to repeating the rooms over and over. The ghost that appears after delivering a sould is more annoying than an actual danger, in my opinion, since it moves so slow but sometimes surprises you at room transitions, where you can't see it.

I do like the idea of having multiple rooms, and the camera pan is quite nice. I like that you can mix colors, I sadly didn't see it used often (got to 9 packages delivered + 10th not completed). For a bit of a change, you could have different colors spawn in different rooms; right now, if you need green it feels no different to needing yellow, you just interact with blue on the way. Also, I realize this is likely due to the jam time limit, but more hazards would be cool, the moving platforms in the chalk room is a nice feature!

Lastly I want to say, I like the simple yet effective graphics and the cute character, and while the soundtrack is short, it adds a lot to the game! :)
