Fun game, nice UI

Wow, great mechanics and really well explored! Good job. This is really content rich. Solid presentation and tutorialization too.

I felt like the controls were a bit too finnicky for something demanding such precise timing. Tough to drop boxes on the correct tile.

I stopped playing soon after the destination device was introduced. If the controls were a bit tighter and the levels were a bit shorter (often they drag on after I've "solved" them already), this would hold my attention a bit better. Nonetheless, a really solid entry. Again, love the mechanics. Would love to see you explore them more.

Overall a nice submission! The art is very clean, music is mellow and compliments the art well. The mechanics are intuitive and the instructions are short and effective. I will say that it was a bit challenging to select the tile I wanted to interact with, which feels bad on timed games. However, it works well enough, so well done!

fuse-in-a-bowl 2023-05-02 16:41

Very nice! The sounds for the different operations and delivery were very satisfying, and they were balanced well with the music. The audio, the graphics and the controls gelled well together and produced a pleasant toy-like feeling - sounds like that's exactly what you were going for with the "family friendly" theme from your description.

The character got stuck a bit while on conveyors and moving past objects like scanners. If I'm using Unity physics for my player characters I find it's best to turn off friction on the player and implement my own in game-code.

I enjoyed your game - Really impressive work!

Beautiful and cozy game! I like the selection animations and graphic style.

sass 2023-05-02 16:46

The first few levels being teaching levels was a nice touch! I felt like the levels after that were a bit slow but then the difficulty progressed nicely once I hit the first real level that tried to automatically deliver opened boxes! The sound design is nice and the cutesy style is lovely :) Clever game mechanic! I feel like the scanning/taping of packages could be a little bit faster but otherwise really nice job for a 72 hour game!

@mkraw @pdotjpg @ollie-d @fuse-in-a-bow @torte478 @sass Thanks everyone! Appreciate the feedback. For a possible postjam version, improving the controls is a priority. :)

A very beautiful and cozy game! I love the art style!

floke 2023-05-02 16:58

Very nice game. I like the gradual introduction of new things, but the difficulty doesn't seem very high.

I found it hard to guess where a package will be after dropping it, the indicator was not bright and the "aim" felt weird. Often it got placed on a tile to the left or right. Some of the tutorials also broke after I did something wrong, having overlapping text.

corporation 2023-05-02 16:59

A great idea and amazing, clean implementation. Started slowly and I didn't understood at first, but then catched a rythm and played much longer than expected. Small issue I had was the controls being not precise enough, I was missing a lot. But overall game fest very polished and smooth. Some ideas for future development are that you can add some meta game and maybe allow player to build their own layout for faster and more effective work.

I really enjoyed playing it! I feared that there will be a huge level at the end where it gets extremely stressfull with all the different types but it was not. It had a perfect difficulty through the whole game. I just had a little trouble, especiall at the start, with picking up or rather placing the boxes at the place I want to

zungryware 2023-05-03 01:44

I see you watched the same episode of The Simpsons I did.

This was really fun! I came in expecting a puzzle game, but instead got a micromanagement game about monitoring moving boxes. It was fun figuring out my workflow for the level and then executing it. "Okay, I need to watch for incoming boxes when the first hazard checker is in use to improve efficiency, watch for non-hazard boxes coming out so they don't go to the hazard tube by mistake, and move boxes that come out of the color checker into the respective tube. Now let's do this!" I think you could have turned up the difficulty more at the end because I three-starred every level on my first try. Maybe just make everything faster.

Pickup and place controls were pretty wonky. I'm not sure what it was, but the boxes often wouldn't go where I thought they would go, and sometimes the input wouldn't work at all unless I moved around a little. In fact, the only time I placed a box into the wrong pipe, it was because the game placed the box in a space I wasn't expecting it to. Just make the box always land on the space you're standing on and make the whole space glow brightly when carrying something.

But that issue aside, it was a fun and frantic game that had me hooked the whole way through. Great job!

Really cool puzzle game ! It was a bit hard to aim sometimes but I loved the atmosphere, good job

This game is well executed! I love the tutorials and all the different mechanics you managed to add. The graphics are super cute and the music is pretty. Good job, this is a very nice game! :)

droiddare 2023-05-04 15:24

Fun game with a lot more than initially meets the eye, I got a big "Overcooked" inspired feel from it which was great for me. Well done!

baknik 2023-05-04 17:42

Nice controls. The strategy was apparent but execution took accuracy.

joaosilva22 2023-05-04 17:57

A really great game held back by the awkward controls, which I see that you have since addressed. I played all the way through despite that though, so that speaks to how fun the game is. Great job!

thomas-bringer 2023-05-04 18:08

@remus @droiddare @baknik @joaosilva22 Thank you so much for the feedback!

@droiddare Overcooked is a favorite game of mine, and the original pitch for Mail Day Mayday was literally 'Singleplayer Delivery-themed Overcooked" haha

crow-seeds 2023-05-04 19:42

Really stressful trying to aim the packages trying to get three stars, a bit frustrating at times but fun :)

Crazy how you managed to translate the stress from a multiplayer Overcooked level into a single player game lmao

spaceylake 2023-05-04 19:49

Nice graphics, pleasant audio and new mechanics was introduced in a nice manner. Felt simple in the beginning but my hands were full in the end with all the new mechanics. Nice play experience! Good gamejam game!

japes 2023-05-04 19:56

Slick presentation, and a great tutorial (which is often an afterthought in compo entries). other extra frills like the stars, and the amount of content make this a complete game imo.

Question: why make all the pipes green? More easily distinguishable colours would've been better.

I was worried it would be very simplistic, but then around the first level with multiple machines I knew it was something more! some of the levels were very fun and were satisfying to nail perfectly.

The whole thing felt super satifying, actually. I could do this for a living...

Unlike some other commenters I found the pick up/drop ok, it seldom went where i didn't want it. the pace was chilled enough that the occasional mis-drop could be corrected. Keen to try the rework, though.

well done, this is a solid entry!

pincushion 2023-05-04 20:33

Great game. I enjoyed the variety of unique mechanics. I was on my toes sorting the packages. It was sometimes tricky to place where I wanted to, but most of the time the controls felt really good. The tutorial looked nice and was very helpful. Cute music and look in general.

cavedens 2023-05-04 22:09

Very cool, chill game. I enjoyed the piling up of different things to manage. Very interesting concept!

veralos 2023-05-05 04:29

Really great game! The core concept is fun, and it gets expanded upon in lots of interesting ways. I like how the conveyor belts can both help or hinder you depending on where you want the packages to go. I also appreciate the way each mechanic is introduced with a clear tutorial.

As others have said dropping packages where you want can be a bit tricky. One change I can suggest is making it so that if there's an obstacle where you're trying to drop the package, it gets dropped at your feet instead of cancelling the drop entirely. For reference, I played the browser version on the itch page. Not sure if that's post-jam or not

Regardless, the presentation is very polished, especially for a jam game. The visual style is very charming and clean. The sounds effects and music fit the game well. It's impressive that you managed to include a ranking system and a nice ending image. One thing I missed is a level select screen - I wanted to go back to levels I did bad on and get 3 stars!

hakro 2023-05-11 19:23

A delightful little game. Graphics look very nice and to the point, gameplay is lots of fun, and the idea is very clever. After a couple of levels, I felt like I was getting smarter and better at it ! It's sometimes a bit hard to aim for the right spot, may be the player movement would have been better if it were grid based; But other than that, this is a great game ! Nicely done, and GG :)

ellaris 2023-05-14 10:41

+ nice puzzle, with a good difficulty curve, I liked the conveyor belts sometimes helping and sometimes getting in the way + it wasn't obvious to me in the beginning that you had to drop the packages in front of the tubes and not throw them into them. + dropping the the packages in adjacent squares was a bit clunky, it was hard to drop stuff in front of a tube because the tube was blocking the drop off, and sometimes the package didn't go to the square that I thought and wanted it to go and got sucked by the a different tube (it didn't help that the tubes were usually adjacent) + when walking with a package diagonally against the conveyor belt current the character barely moved, and it seemed like he got stuck on objects
