Vast Trivia Of The Void by JorgeGameDev 2021-04-29T07:11:23Z
Got addicted to this game and played it for around 45 minutes. Those sound effects combined with the great artstyle really spiked my dopamine levels!

Got addicted to this game and played it for around 45 minutes. Those sound effects combined with the great artstyle really spiked my dopamine levels!
Really like the art for this one, especially the intro cutscene and the creature at the end of the game! The colors and the shadow like objects in the background really add to the "going into a creepy forest" aesthetic. My only complaint would be the level design as some of the jumps are really tight and some of the jumps are blind. Like the concept of collecting fireflies to get deeper into the forest, thought that was a creative way for progressing through the game. Good game!
Holy cow. I really love the strange aesthetic going on. It has the same sort of vibe as Undertale/Earthbound but there's a whole another component that feels really original and genuine. I really like the music and how it helps convey the mysterious yet determined atmosphere. The gameplay was really fun and the fights felt fair with the indicators. My only complaint was that the walking speed was a bit too slow. Overall, a really great entry, definitely one of my favorites of this jam!
I love this game.
On the surface, it seems pretty simple; try to get your roots to connect to water and dirt to get the highest score. However, after playing my first game I got addicted. It's such a creative and unique idea that works so well with the theme. The graphics and the audio (banger music btw) work wonders for making this simple game so engaging and addicting. Well done!
Really like the feel of the game going on! The gameboy-like color scheme works really well with the ambiance and it feels like you're exploring an abandoned world. The exploration aspect of the game was well done (Though I keep stumbling across gates that are closed and found it a bit annoying to backtrack to see which switch I hadn't activated). Pretty fun game!
something like this happened to my buddy eric
the music is unbelievable, not gonna ask how those sound effects at the end got recorded
my only gripe is that its pretty unrealistic that going to 7/11 clenches your poo all the way. also why doesnt the guy use the bathroom at the 7/11.
2 ply/2 ply
Freaking love everything about this game :). The soundtrack goes really well with speed jumping over lava. The super-jump mechanic is just so fun and trying to figure out the best route through a level is just really satisfying. Really like the level design as well, it feels really thought out with a lot of shortcuts and strategies to get through every rock and crevice. I guess the only complaint is that maybe add where you can jump then super-jump like everyone was suggesting. Even then, the controls feel really nice to handle and fluid to play (It's like 3D Celeste!). The minor details such as the anime speed-lines add so much and make it so fun to dash! The minimalist 3-D graphics are excellent for this type of gameplay and don't feel too distracting yet have enough detail that when you zoom by the environment it feels so satisfying (Reminds me of Clustertruck!). Overall, one of my favorites from the jam and I hope you continue to do something with this game!
jump_speedrun.png
The music adds a whole another layer to the desolate nature of this game. The simplistic graphics combined with the lack of features on the ice add to the feeling of "holy shit we're all dead" feel of the game. Well executed atmosphere!
Really loved this one! The jokes landed every time and this was such a unique spin on the "Deeper and Deeper" theme! I especially love the piano music, kudos to Ross! My only complaint was that the game was too short, maybe add more variation in the pop-up minigames? Overall, a stellar experience!
Really like the idea of learning about a mysterious character through objects, makes for a really creative take on the theme of "Deeper and Deeper"! I got the ending where my character... died? Kidnapped? It was really weird but I got the good ending eventually. All the small details from Pepa the Fish to the wet hat add so much character to this game! It manages to be really cute yet still have really unsettling tones, which is something that is hard to accomplish. The pencil graphics add a nice touch to the game as well and really fit with the mood the game was going for. Well done!
It's like Beat Saber and those Minecraft dropper games had a hectic and fast paced baby. Though I never got to the end (Maybe it was because I kept wanting to get a good time and held ctrl most of the time), it's pretty fun! It's pretty hard though, maybe make a mode where you can touch walls but not land on stuff. But I love the aesthetic! Solid game!
Truly the Josh Swain of video games. I really like the mood the game sets up (Artstyle really helps in that department!), though the gameplay was confusing at times. Overall pretty good stuff
Omg I love this, especially the fish art! So adorable!
Absolute banger. The lighting in conjunction with the footstep sounds and the creepy ambiance work together to create such a great atmosphere. Great job!
Oh my god, that ending animation. The content of the game is pretty interesting but I feel like the texting speed was a bit slow. However, the game was pretty enjoyable and educational. The ending just blindsided me in the best way possible. Great game!
Super enjoyable game! Reminds me of Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime and has the same hectic feel to it! My only gripe is that later on, you don't have enough reaction time to move to the left and right steering modules. Maybe move the submarine towards the top of the screen to leave more room at the bottom?
I love this! The game has a lot of personality (I especially like when the computer makes typos lol). The visuals are perfect and the minigames add a lot to the game (Though the AI was too good at pong, making that one last a while). My only complaint was that the game was too short because I really liked the humor and silliness of it all and wanted it to last longer!
Stellar work! Loved the whole mystical theme, crazy how people can make art like this in three days.
Well, that's one way to get deeper and deeper, Larry. Dunno why the children are harassing a large man instead of eating the food at the buffet, but it makes for a solid game.
I really like the premise of playing over and over again to figure out how to do stuff. Really digging the Baba Is You aesthetic! However, my brain is too smooth to get passed the black eyeball starfish looking fella. Pretty fun for the time I spent on the game.
Really like the graphics! The combat felt a little clunky though but I really liked the calming aesthetic of it all! There was a glitch where my player turned invisible and I couldn't progress, but other than those problems this game is pretty good.
Super trippy (In a good way!). Love the aesthetic. Unfortunately the game was super laggy for me, but I liked what I was seeing!
Really unique aesthetic, it's really abstract and confusing. The audio sounds like I was having a stroke (In a good way). Sometimes though, I got stuck in the elevator looking thing and couldn't get out. Maybe put the controls in the description? Definitely one of the most unique games in terms of mood in this jam.
Simple, but lovely. Had fun for a couple minutes. My only complaint is that you can't control your character when the random conditions show up.
@pedrohph Sorry to hear that! Was the game lagging by any chance? Do you know what the level looked like when you kept falling to your death? Trying to fix this problem ASAP.
@jk5000 Can I get some info on what platform your running the game on? Trying to fix this bug but I canβt seem to replicate it.
@jk5000 Hmmm, can you try playing on the browser version to see if it still causes the bug?
@jk5000 @pedrohph I think I figured the bug out! Do your computers happen to be running in a language other than English? I had accidentally encoded the file that stores all the room information in English instead of the universal encoding. Should be fixed in the next version! Let me know if this isnβt the case.
@jk5000 @pedrohph New version is up, should be fixed! Sorry about that!

Really cute artstyle!!!!! It's just lacking content and I ran into some bugs other people have gotten such as "Test" and "0". Hope you guys develop this more, as it has a great foundation. But right now, it's just unfinished.
crazy that all those ai image generators are just a bunch of little people using this software inside a metal cage
absolutely bonkers, i love it
@Anonymous When you look at the phone, you hear the bomb operator better. Where you look changes which sounds you hear better, hope this helps!
@tobiasd Bombs come every 10 seconds and the timer lets you know with audio, so you have to keep track! It's intentional to keep you on your toes!
@nash Glad you liked it despite the hecticness! The game is a combination of two of our ideas from the brainstorming stage (speed dating and bomb defusal). We thought the juxtaposition of the ideas was hilarious and figured there was gonna be a bunch of dating and bomb games for this jam, but no one would be dumb enough to combine the two. Audio engineering was really hard to get quite right in 3 days as the right volume balancing depended on the person, whether or not they used headphones, and other factors. We tried to make it clear that you hear the date better when you look at the date and you hear the bomb operator better when you look at the bomb, and it brought up many tricky questions like how different should the volumes be and should the bomb operator be louder/quieter?
@durkagames Based on our playtesting and current feedback, we weren't sure whether to have the bomb operator audio be quiet when looking at the date (makes hearing the date more clearer, though people were complaining they couldn't hear the bomb instructions despite being able to hear the operator clearer when you look at the bomb), or make it so you could hear both clearly when looking at the date (making it a mess, but you could hear the bomb instructions when you look at the date). We've gotten feedback asking us to both lower or raise the volume of the operator, so it's a bit tricky.
@anoif @justaroom Thanks for the compliments!
This game is pretty dope! The atmosphere with the slow chasing intrusive thought, the background voices, and the changing maze create this really tense mood throughout the game. The grandma is also really cute! The hearts were a little hard to find with the camera angles and sometimes the maze would change, making you in a dead-end with the intrusive thought surrounding you (Though one could argue that it's like real life haha). The auto pathfinding of the character was also pretty fun, watchin the grandma run around is pretty neat!
Simple, stylish, fun! Really addicting, the sliding was a bit awkward and inconsistent at first though. But that doesn't detract from how clean and polished it feels!
So cute!!!!! Love the Baba Is You doodle effect you got there (as well as the little references to other stuff like the sussy). Pretty fun, wish there was a way to keep score (but that might be because I'm competitive hehe). Really like this one, has a lotta charm to it!
why the big potatoes trying to eat the little potatoes :(
Really sick game! Reminds me of Papers Please. The absurdity of the crimes was also really funny oml. Pretty fun when you get the hang of it
im just gonna accept that you always die
For how barebones the concept and graphics were, this game was pretty fun! Wall jumping will always be the best platformer mechanic and the game feels pretty fluid, though a bit tricky since the 10 second interval is barely enough time to reach the next checkpoint.
Though the visuals aren't the greatest, it's detailed enough that the player knows what the graphics represent. The darkness mechanic is cool and creates some really tense moments. Though the player moves pretty slowly, the game did keep my attention. Pretty solid effort!
I love the silly concept and the dialogue! The constant hiding and trying really hard not to fumble the arrow keys made a really thrilling experience. The amount of polish is also commendable. Overall, really solid!
This is so stupid and cute at the same time. Insanely addictive too omg
What a crazy concept that works insanely well, holy hell.
Very nice minimalistic sokobon game! Graphics were quite cute and I liked the puzzles!
Cute graphics! The game was engaging enough to make me play though the entire thing, though I think I got softlocked by leaving the top of the map before the timer ran out.
I'm fairly certain I figured it out, it's just the graphics make it so hard to distinguish the [REDACTED] in the [REDACTED], so I was just clicking randomly. Or maybe this game is just too big brained for me!
Pretty cool concept though!
Edit: Just got into the [REDACTED], this is pretty cool!!
Edit 2: Whoopsies :)
Thanks for the reviews!!! @constantine-pallas @aruspice
@thejan14 Yea for some reason the game throws a fit when not running on Chrome for the Ludum Dare site, glad you were able to play using other means!
@amarokczukay @omphh Papers Please was a big inspiration to the game, glad you guys noticed!!
@aurel300 Try not highlighting anything after opening the folder :^)
Silly game :)
This is really slick and cool looking, what the hell????? Nice job!!
Mfw I try to harvest my crops
πππππππππ
Iβm really beaning to the extreme in this one!!
Pretty cute :)
This game has "Getting Over It" syndrome, where it has a control scheme so hard to get used to, that it almost seems impossible playing it. It's only when you've played for a while that it becomes easy. Feels like game developers often think their games are easier as a result of playtesting so much that they get really used to the controls lol
Anyways, this game is really fun! Like it was really difficult, but the amount of checkpoints and hand holding made it a lot more accessible. Art is pretty good, I really like the detail of the past babies just lying on the ground lmao. Though I wish there was a lot less empty paths you can take, as sometimes you were just flying up and there's nothing there. Like Getting Over It, you get used to the controls after a while and beating the game was really satisfying!! Well done!!
Took a while to get accustomed to the controls, but this was pretty addicting. The art was really nice and I really liked the lack of music. Really added to the atmosphere, with the truck sound just whirling in the background. Reminds me of games you would see on the app store. Nothing much to improve on other than adding more content in general, but it's good for an arcadey endless game.
Calming game, though sometimes I do get impatient getting to the islands. Water is nice to look at too, really neat game you made in 2 days
This is so freaking cool, loved snooping and panning, around seeing all the details of the city. The game is rekindling my love for those Where's Waldo books lmao. Really liked that you could also open doors and windows, that was such a surprising twist! The music goes great with the spy theme too. Just wished that panning didn't zoom you out tho. Overall, one of the more unique entries this jam! Art style was cool too, especially with the Paper Mario-esque 2D people living in 3D aesthetic!
Have no idea how you guys drew all this with such amazing quality in 3 days, this is so impressive!! Love the artstyle so much oml
For as simple the game was, I had a lot of fun! The cat art was really cute and the music was a great fit! Just watching the cat kick the yarn balls was enough to keep me entertained. I just wish you used the hangglider more often, though it does give you a neat speedboost to get more yarn balls in during the time limit. Some pits or obstacles to jump over would be epic. A really great start to a game, just wish there was more! Really cute overall :3
Also, jellyfish?
Really stressful trying to aim the packages trying to get three stars, a bit frustrating at times but fun :)
Crazy how you managed to translate the stress from a multiplayer Overcooked level into a single player game lmao
While rough around the edges both in visuals and in sound, the game does have a really interesting mechanic! Combining a box pushing puzzle game with a deck builder is something I haven't really seen before and it really opens for a lot of strategies. Cool game!
Stork flapping sound effect goes so hard, pretty fun but pretty hard as well. My years playing Flappy Golf have come in handy...
The difference in the simple level pixel art and the character cartoon art gives me nostalgia for those old browser games you would find on Newgrounds or Armorgames, though it is a bit jarring. Music adds a lot of sillyness and fun too, making the game pretty charming.
This game is really fun! Saw it on stream and it looked interesting. The controls felt smooth and dodging bullets is always fun, though I'm really good at these types of games. Spritework is really good, no complaints there! Only complaint is that the hitboxes of the landmines are a bit too big. Overall, short and sweet!
This is giving me QWOP PTSD, extraordinarily silly and fun game oml
Love the "I can't believe you've done this" reference lmao
Really cool spin on the sokoban puzzle genre of games. The puzzles were pretty creative and I like the dialogue hints from the turtle, it was really cute! Had fun trying to solve the levels. The main problems were the graphics (specifically the walls) could use some more polish. The music also made me go insane, kudos to you for putting a mute button. Despite this, I really liked the concept and gameplay! Liked how you used the concept to its fullest potential with the turtle pushing you and you using it as a stopping point.
What can I say, I love shooting silly critters
Reminds me a lot of Papers Please! Loved playing it and seeing all the fun dialogues (especially when you fail). Sprite work is also very good, well done!
Graphics are quite nice and controls feel really smooth, especially how the platforms disappear behind you and how the crystals glow. It does get repetitive, but I guess that comes with being an endless runner. Despite that, it was weirdly addicting! I can see this being on the app store
Video games are art and this game proves it
We out here driving the bus on Fantino Island βΌοΈ βΌοΈ
@yorsh Yea we ran out of time, so we didn't get to make an ending or bullet projectiles :(
@wolfier @saltysa @veralos @kyboon We ran out of time for the ending lmao, glad y'all liked what you played though!
At first I was playing the game, thinking "where does the delivery theme fit", and then I got to the delivery section. Oh my god, this is such a clever use of theme! Going back through the level and delivering items to the chests is such a subversion. The graphics were great and the tunes were really catchy. Only complaints are that I wish there was a faster way back to the caravan other than just killing yourself and the aspect ratio of the game made it hard to read what's going on up ahead, so you just get ambushed by an enemy because you couldn't see far enough ahead. Despite this, it was really fun, one of my favorite compo games so far!
π¦π¦π¦
I'mma be honest and say I literally had no idea what to do lmao, really silly and fun game though! The running animation especially is amazing! Loved the stuff I was able to figure out too, the music really compliments the vibe too
I honestly felt that the controls were quite nice. It was hard to get used to, but once you start zooming and delivering, it was fun. The sound effects were quite nice, and it made it feel much more intense. I wish there was more to do than just delivering though as it does get boring. But overall, pretty decent game!
DUDE THIS REMINDS ME OF OLD FLASH GAMES, SO MUCH NOSTALGIA I LOVE THE ART
It was pretty fun though it does get sort of repetitive, portions of the levels were reused in other ones, or at least it felt like it (The egg fella even calls the developer a "lazy ass" :( ). The groundpound wasn't really used in the levels, which is a shame.
The art is freaking sick though. I love the art style and how things wiggle when you pass by them. Small things like that. The character movement was also really well done and very smooth! Well done!
This is actually insane
All the zombies spawned in one part of the map, so it was just empty until I reached them. The art is really nice though and I like the music. The pun title is excellent. Shooting at zombies was fun tho
Art is really cute, I especially love the little broom flying version of the character when you deliver the potions!
Only complaint is that it does get repetitive and felt like doing chores, but the cozy atmosphere and cute graphics made up for it. It's just so wholesome omg!
Strangely relaxing. I really like this spin on the classic sliding block puzzle as it actually makes you think instead of blindly shifting blocks. I'm not much of a puzzle guy myself, but it was fun to try to optimize for the right solutions (despite me being really bad at these types of games lol). Art is pretty cool as well, with the music it creates a really soothing atmosphere. I guess the problems I had with the game are about sliding block puzzles in general (takes to long to get a tile where you need), but this game improves on those aspects. Well done!
This is so charming and silly omg!!! Love it, those boxes are weirdly cute
Fun little puzzle game you got there! This idea can easily be expanded upon, hope you do!
Love the artstyle so god damn much. The music compliments it so well too, holy shit.
Really fun, only complaint is the slow climbing, but it didn't really hinder the experience. The stealth gameplay felt so cool too, like with the art and sound working together to create this 60's spy aesthetic making one of the most unique games of this jam. Though there doesn't seem to be an incentive to not use the rope letter all the time since those also kill people and you can make it through the game only using it. Really well done!
Simple and cute game, had a decent amount of fun in the brief time I played!
That's a really creative interpretation of the theme, was really fun and kept me on my toes! The audio is really cool tool, the atmospheric burning sounds in the background with minimal music really complements the game.
That was a lot of fun! I liked how minimalist the game was and how, despite the limited and simple content the jam version had, it forced you to manage your space with all the little adjacency rules. Incredibly addictive and has a lot of potential, well done!
Chat is this real
This is a really creative mechanic and is probably the game that uses the theme in the coolest way (at least so far). A bit too big brained for me, near the end I was just brute forcing possible solutions and it worked lmao. A bit finicky to undo your last step though (maybe a hotkey like how R is used to restart)
Reminds me of a Google Doodle game in the best possible way! Had a lot of fun with this one, especially love the sound effects (using your own voice adds a lot of charm lmao)
What are you on lmao
(Replayed it and I just noticed that sneaky first line....)
This is incredibly cute oml
@anson-rutherford We ran out of time before we could implement it :(
Fortunately for you, that feature is in the post-jam version on Newgrounds!
@sephowepho Thanks for the input! We made a submission viewer in the post-jam version (we narrowly ran out of time to implement it in the submission lmao) if you wanna see other people's silly contributions. Glad you enjoyed what we got though!
That conductapus deserves a promotion. Really snappy and fun!!!! Love it!!!!
Insanely addictive, the simple art style works really well. It was a bit slow at first, but once you got the ball rolling it got pretty fun!
Really cool use of the theme! I liked how unlike most tower defense games, you can move the towers which introduced some fun maneuvering (also cool that the old windows theme went hand in hand with that mechanic seeing as you can move windows like in an actual computer). The minimal sounds worked in the game's favor, I liked hearing the blips and boops when things got hit. Complaints were that the game felt shallow due to the lack of variety in the towers and enemies, which makes sense given the time constraints, and the game was a bit too easy, though it was fun stacking a bunch of towers and hearing a barrage of sound effects from the shooting. Overall, good job!
Incredible concept, this was genius
The struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Doug happy.
While I'm not the biggest fan of "getting over it" games (Too frustrating for me haha), this was pretty fun and goofy!
Incredibly fun! I played this on Newgrounds and I had to rate this. Loved the artstyle and how fun messing with the physics was. Fast movements always fun in games, and I can see how the insane speed and momentum you generate from the summons can lead to some really fun speedrunning strategies haha. Having different methods of completing levels was also really cool. Pretty fun for a physics puzzle platformer, had a great time overall.
This was really addicting, love how silly and goofy the overall aesthetic is! Live multiplayer is incredible as well, and there's so much freaking content here omg. It's like when a team overscopes, but this time they actually fulfill all their promises and ideas.
Special props to the name of the game, that's an incredible pun lol
Entirely and completely relatable
This is insane in the best way possible, rizz++ to all of you guys, I honestly really love the artstyle
I really like the art, it's really cute!
Simply incredible and amazing how you got all of this within the three days. I love everything about this holy shit
Seeing goofy looking worm dudes battle it out was insanely addicting, y'all almost made me miss work
Special props to the Warioware styled minigames, the worm timer actually made me laugh out loud
Freestyle to restart is a really clever idea, just something minor that I wanted to bring up.
It was pretty fun for a couple of minutes and I really liked the atmosphere you made. Wish the note combinations were a bit more melodic and music sounding though! The art is astounding as well!
Had a lot of fun for the few minutes I played! I liked all the audio details such as the music effect when you die and the various screams haha (the rock is incredible). I also liked how the spells interacted with the environment, that was a cool touch as well.
Took me a while to realize you spawn spells with the mouse button, didn't say in the controls :(
Loved the pun though, that's really clever lol
So cute!!!
This genuinely might be favorite game this jam, you sick in the head psycho. This might be the most I've laughed at any jam game lmaooo
I honestly really like the juvenile drawn art style. The mechanics were explored nicely, though I wish there were more mechanics (maybe like other insects, also I find it pretty funny that the fleas can't fly lmao). Also wish the music wasn't a 3 second loop, but overall I had a nice time with the game!
Addicting little infinite runner! Not much in the innovation department, but I do love me some little fellas. The graphics were quite cute and I liked the little screams they make when they hit a cactus lmao
getting over it but awesome
Cool art, haven't really seen this before in a jam, nice job :)
Pretty bold of you to make a rage game for a game jam LOL but I had still had fun :)
Played this on Newgrounds and holy shit this is an incredible idea. Like literally genius and clever
@disvent @sbackman Try looking for keys to help them escape!
@gamescodedogs Hmmm... I guess you have to look deeper
(You're looking right at it!)
Really cool concept going down the highway to hell hehe
If I had a nickel for everytime I've been a Getting Over It-like, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird it's happened twice already. Good game lmao
swing_ending.png
Made it to the end, was a fun time waster haha
