LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Pre Call by zimennik 2020-10-06T01:01:06Z

Gotta be honest- I had no idea how to be a phone operator. It was fun to figure it out! Really nice touch with the text-to-speech dialogue. You can tell a lot of care went into the phonebook / script for this game... some of the jobs in the phonebook are weird. Anyway- nice job!

Eternal Punishment by Yuukurisu 2020-10-05T23:51:35Z

Music is cool, the the portrait art for Lucifer is awesome. I hit a bug where on my second life/loop, it was just a blue screen.

Return to Loop's Bend by kristinamay 2020-10-06T01:46:50Z

Looks like this is missing some dlls.

Beat Bash by Overlook Studios 2020-10-06T00:39:52Z

This is an incredibly polished game. Took me a little bit to get the hang of it, but once I did.. well, I still died. I was a bit confused about how to buy things, I kept trying to drag them to my character or my hand. I should have read the tutorial more closely. Overall, an awesome entry. It's insane you put this together in a weekend.

Boris the Bear Hunter by ForgeronStudio 2020-10-07T18:49:35Z

Nice job on the hand-drawn art! Also- your description is extremely well written (does that count as part of the game??). I found the gameplay itself a bit difficult- the post-death tip about doing tight circles certainly helped. But I can't seem to beat Fyodor! I'm not sure what is hitting me. I saw another comment say that the hook takes damage for you, so that must be it. I will try again now- back to the woods!

That Dream Again by Bokonon 2020-10-07T18:32:55Z

@forgeronstudio Thank you for the high praise! You're right about the origins of my username- I love that book (clearly). Appreciate you taking the time to play our game and to master the grapple hook- it seems in our playtesting we got a little too good/comfortable with our own game and inadvertently put in a tricky mechanic. Glad you got the hang of it.

Bob Bear Loop by Igor Silva 19 2020-10-06T00:00:23Z

Wow, nice job! Loved the bear model. I thought the tank controls were a bit of an odd choice, but I guess it works. Really liked puzzle solving with my own dead bodies.

Egg Game by zdandoh 2020-10-05T22:48:44Z

Very cute game! I especially like the art and the odd little noises that the characters make. The third level didn't seem to introduce new mechanics- I was hoping there'd be a big ramp / jump we'd have to egg down at some point to clear a big gap. It's a very neat idea executed well. Nice job!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Volcanaclimber by niksg 2021-04-27T18:20:47Z

Nice one! Had to try it after seeing your comment on our game... us rope-games have to stick together. I really like the mechanic in this one, it reminds me of the sticky hand toys I used to have growing up. I am horrible at the game though, I keep smacking that poor lamp into a wall. But overall this is really impressive. It makes me want to try playing around with Unity..

LD53 — Delivery

Postal against The End of the World by Neowedge 2023-05-02T17:41:45Z

Nice entry, definitely on-theme. I found it difficult to properly aim the pulse grenades- if you continue working on the game, maybe you could add some kind of indicator about the arc of the grenade? And there should be an explosion on impact even when you don't hit a cyberzombie. Overall though, a solid experience. Well done!

AIRBOUND: Lillins Tail by boaheck-artgent 2023-05-02T05:45:58Z

Really love the low poly model of the player character! Flying on the broom feels pretty good too. Nice job!

The Courier of Cobblecove by SleepyStudios 2023-05-02T15:48:13Z

Really great character art and backgrounds. I got stuck trying to get past the bear- I delivered the letter, necklace, flower, brought the cow home and got potions from the wizard. But after that wasn't sure what to do.

Gameplay wise- a game like this needs pathfinding on the player character. It isn't a nice experience to click somewhere on the screen and have the PC get stuck on a collision. But you have the bones here for a great point-and-click! Thanks for submitting.

International Relief Corps by CharlesE 2023-05-02T05:51:25Z

The graphics are nice- I ended up finding a settlement and giving some food and water along the way. I wasn't sure what to do from there- I would say if you keep working on this game, you'll want to put some points of interest along the routes that players and likely to go- I ended up walking through a lot of open desert. I wanted to see what Sanity did but I didn't figure it out.

Sadmazon by Olivier Millochau 2023-05-02T15:05:48Z

Nice submission! I got up to around 20, I got into a flow state. The music and sound effects work well, and I like the tetris piece shapes. Maybe I didn't play far enough- but would the shape of the package eventually come into play? Like with stacking boxes, or interlinking them. I think that would be cool. The art is nice, I like that everything has a face.

And a huge thank you for having an ESC menu to close out the game, I've seen a few Unity games where ESC does nothing and I have to close the game via task manager.

A Letter To My Friend D by Foursay 2023-05-02T05:35:35Z

Say hi to Trish for me! This was a nice experience- thanks for the submission.

Really cool effect when the bottle went under the water.

RogueLike Delivers by Ausstein 2023-05-02T15:13:37Z

Wow, it is crazy you put this together over a weekend. I hit a bug where the screen stayed darkened in the first quest- but nice job submitting a 3d game!

Rogue 'n Royal by Bauke Regnerus 2023-05-02T18:01:52Z

Wow, masterfully done. Love the different minigames for various encounters, and the game looks exceptional with a lot of polish. I tried to dodge the king at the end and failed, but had a lot of fun getting there. Awesome job.

Drone Drop by Kazatan 2023-05-05T14:35:28Z

A fun little game, nice to kind of zone out and complete. I had to go get a package from outside while playing (the irony!) so my score was around 05:30. I never quite nailed the momentum based delivery- probably because it was difficult to tell how high up I was.

Parcelmecium by Bokonon 2023-05-02T14:04:29Z

@ekaktusz @hammerfrenzy Thanks for playing! We've had a couple of people mention that a health indicator would be useful- we actually do have one, it is the little spots on your main guy! They are depleted as you take damage / refilled in the bubble. In the future, we'll definitely make that more clear, because admittedly these things are like 3 pixels wide.

Postal Dash! by TebionDL 2023-05-05T14:23:26Z

Character creation is great! Beyond that, it was very difficult for me to tell what to do. I was able to pick up a broom, but not sure where to take it.

Burned Reputation by TheGameOverGuy 2023-05-02T15:59:04Z

Nice game! Always love a card game submission. I was able to beat it- it looks like you have an issue with your Thanks for Playing screen where it is offset to the side and cut off- playing on the web build.

I thought the game was fun- I think it could be improved by having more of a functional difference between hunting and tending to the village. I'm using wood to repair bridges as well as hunt trees- maybe some cards are for hunting, some are for village stuff? Either way, thanks for putting this together- well done!

Cow Heist: Space Delivery Mission by mrScom 2023-05-02T15:16:10Z

I was playing the web build and had a very hard time with it- I might just be bad. But I either drop the cow, or hit a comet pretty consistently. But the art is really really nice!

Monkey Delivery by GameDocs 2023-05-05T14:38:30Z

Pretty fun, almost reminds me of a Game and Watch game. I couldn't quite tell if it was doing this- you could start making the delivery times shorter and shorter.

Gold Extraction by obittner 2023-05-02T15:51:40Z

Hello- thanks for submitting- but I had a hard time figuring out what to do. I went looking for gold all over the map and couldn't find it. Maybe I'm missing something!

Delivery Journey by AgenteTitan 2023-05-02T16:05:17Z

Hello- after the third room or so (with an enemy with black eyes) I was able to walk off the right side of the screen and wasn't sure how to proceed. But the moving / aiming feels good, and the character sprites are good. I think it needs a bit more polish.

Turbo Baby by AdamLenglen 2023-05-02T15:24:58Z

Absolutely sublime animation. I was watching this on a stream and had to try it. The music, art and vibe is amazingly impressive. But- the game is hard. I can't see what is coming up and it feels a bit too punishing. Maybe if it were zoomed out a bit- not sure if that could be done while preserving the pixel art. I will play more to see if I get better. The art is just so so good here it would be a shame to have people bounce off the game because of difficulty.

LD55 — Summoning

Sumo-ning by wolderado 2024-04-15T18:46:22Z

Really polished visuals, well done!

Witches Fishes by OlavDeng2 2024-04-15T21:08:19Z

Really great graphics in the game itself- it would go a long way if you made the UI look as good as the gameplay, right now it looks like it might be a placeholder font.

Accio! by alanbrook 2024-04-15T18:42:56Z

Love this- a really nice simple concept executed well. I really dig the music too! My only suggestion for improvement would be to add some kind of victory screen between levels- right now it just jumps to the next level immediately. It would also probably aid in the experience to see the eyes move to your position, even if it happens very quickly after your step. It would make it more clear which eye is moving and from where.

Excuse Me... Are You Summoning Crokel? by Yossarian 2024-04-15T16:26:01Z

>I love these kinds of puzzles, great job!!! Would love a quick fail button if I know im gonna fail I dont wanna wait for the timer to go down.

That's a good idea! Luckily, we're still in the submission period, so I just went ahead and added a quick fail button to the game. Thanks for playing!

>When you get to the later levels, if you fail, the speed increase means there is barely enough time to do the clicking required to connect everything together

I hear that- I don't want to have people have a bad time. In addition to the above change, I've made it so the timer speedup happens in increments of 0.25x rather than 0.5x. Hopefully that stems some of the snowballing effect while still providing a challenge / punishment. I appreciate the feedback a lot!

Excuse Me... Are You Summoning Crokel? by Yossarian 2024-04-15T18:36:57Z

@ahsoo @alanbrook - Seems like there some common feedback here. I'm glad I published this early! I just went ahead and removed the "faster timer" punishment for failing a rune for this jam, hopefully that saves people some frustration during the rating period. Thanks for taking the time to play the game!

Poizon Pets by LeiGGaRFeeD 2024-04-15T17:36:14Z

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm summoning characters but sometimes it is a black square. The art looks nice!

LD57 — Depths

Submarine-Souls by psychomonster 2025-04-07T17:34:55Z

I beat it! My time was 3:02:655.

chrome_JMAlyyDGox.png

This was a nice, simple, fun game. I really was slamming into walls, it was always better than touching a jellyfish. I was a bit confused by the green animal- I thought at first it would heal me, but it didn't, but it also didn't do as much damage as the red one. Great submission, it must have been fun to make that maze. I wish the movement would be a little tighter, I understand it is thrust-based but I felt like something was slightly off even with that in mind.

I think you could really juice it up with having a wake behind your sub, some bubbles etc. I would have liked having a health pickup (I too fell for the treasure chest) but I get why you didn't. It would be good to replay to see how far you could push it without needing an oxygen pocket. Great work!

I appreciate your hidden message as well.

Crust Busters by ectucker1 2025-04-07T17:46:40Z

The way the UI flips out of the main screen is awesome. I also love how juiced up the speed boost is, feels very satisfying to get a lot of speed. I came in 4th- those yellow guys were too quick for me! But I had a lot of fun. The graphics, sound, and CRT shader make the whole thing feel very polished. Awesome work.

LD57 - Slappy's Reef by Scott R Howell 2025-04-07T13:17:40Z

I had some slowdown in my browser (Chrome) especially when I first dove, but it sorted itself out and was pretty smooth later on. Really great work with the graphics, it looks really nice. I like your out-of-bounds invisible wall indicator as well, it looks professional. The gameplay and buoyancy mechanics felt really solid once I knew what I was doing. I ended up getting 680 as my score, but will give it another go!

Depths Driller by TasakaSama 2025-04-07T17:59:23Z

I may be dumb- I couldn't figure out how to get resources. I tried clicking to fire and pressing E over spots that scanned, but nothing was happening. Do I need to do something to unlock the drill?

Mr. Money's Phenomenally Soggy Water Removal Romp by Rhoka 2025-04-09T16:34:24Z

I played this on a stream last night, loved it as you saw. Looking through the comments here I totally didn't piece together that I was wasting my time with the bleach upgrades in the late game. At that point I just needed the pump! It was too satisfying to see my money go up.

Movement upgrades rock, very satisfying loop, great job. Can't wait for the third in the Mr. Money trilogy.

Apnea by JulienLussiez 2025-04-07T17:03:31Z

Awesome job. The 1 bit art style and soundtrack really give it a great vibe. I tried my hardest holding my real breath but could only get as far as the 40m goal. But this is an excellent exercise in minimalist game design. I love it.

If I could give any suggestions, it would be cool to have some assets in the water as you get lower, maybe like a whale going by or something. As it stands, it could be good to have a portrait orientation on the aspect ratio. This would be great as a mobile game / simple mindfulness app. Really great work.

Dwingles by Pomo 2025-04-08T04:25:34Z

I have my dwingle retrieval strategy down. Proudly 6th on the leaderboard at the time of writing. Great job! Feels like a Warioware game in the best way. Art, music, and (the many instances of) voice acting are all on point. A jam game doesn't need anything else.

Help! I'm Trapped on The Torment Trapeze. by Yossarian 2025-04-07T19:22:36Z

@adam-gallina Thanks for playing! I realized how useful purging multiple souls at once would be just shortly after the submission window ended and had some downtime to test more, hah. I've got it implemented now but alas, will have to wait for a post-jam version.

DorfSlinger by gdman 2025-04-07T14:00:29Z

Looks like the LD embedded version isn't working- I'm seeing

>Failed to read the 'serviceWorker' property from 'Navigator': Service worker is disabled because the context is sandboxed and lacks the 'allow-same-origin' flag.

However, I was able to play it on itch. I think you could make things a bit more springy/juicy with the firing mechanic, right now it feels very rigid. The art is nice, but having menus on-theme would go a long way. Overall, nice work getting this done in 48 hours!

Crabs in a Bucket by busisen 2025-04-07T04:54:27Z

Great work! The graphics are excellent and coherent. It looks very professional. And the concept is fun- I thought I could be slick by spamming jump but that is appropriately punished. Having the upgrade shop makes it a nice loop- I kept doing "one more game" because of how quickly you're back in the action. Awesome job!

Deep Drop by bad_fetus 2025-04-07T20:17:45Z

I suck at this game. I like what you've done here, though. But I am not built for it.

Jerry the Spear by Inferno123 2025-04-07T04:39:49Z

Definitely on theme- I like the idea of having an upgrade shop in a game like this. I wasn't very good at it though. I think having a more consistent font / UI theming would go a long way to making it look more professional- right now it is a little aesthetically mixed up. But overall nice job!

Unmasked by BUDSTER16 2025-04-07T04:35:03Z

Just a heads up- the embedded LD version is not playing in my Chrome browser.

I was able to play on itch- interesting little twist there with Brennan! I read all of the buildings but I wasn't sure where to go from there.

Down climber (Pico-8) by Prunus Padis 2025-04-07T04:30:29Z

Nice to see a Pico-8 game. This was a simple one but I like the mechanics. I must say the music got very repetitive after a while though- I would definitely mix it up some more on a post-jam version.

Tiny Tinker by ShadyShade 2025-04-07T18:53:13Z

This was a fun game. I got to the end I think (it just cut to black) and the way upgrades unlocked kept me coming back until I completed it. The simple graphics worked really well for it and the music was great. Well done!

The Trench by atsh 2025-04-07T20:37:01Z

This got me good hah. I was on edge the whole way down due to thalassophobia so I legitimately jumped. Well done! The facts along the way were interesting as well.

Like others, I was very impressed with that radar effect. Had me wondering how it was done- then I remembered this is compo, I can just check! Awesome work.
