This game is incredibly hard and it's amazing, reminds me of getting over it. It'd be really cool if you continued to develop this and eventually release it as a full game.

nick-barrash 2021-04-27 01:19

Hmm it's not rendering for me like in the gif, for whatever reason I see basically nothing of the character, it's just the walls/lava.

spluppo 2021-04-27 01:20

It's a fun idea! Love the aesthetic

cam-moore 2021-04-27 01:20

This was fun. But apparently I'm not a patient person... Great job. I like the atmospheric music.

diabolical-sloth 2021-04-27 01:20

love the music, reminds me of metroid prime

gameplay concept is very satisfying although it can feel a little frustrating since it seems like the optimal strategy might be to just move your mouse as slowly as possible.

very nice game though, cool art direction as well

frompdx 2021-04-27 01:20

Definitely challenging, but a really unique take on 2D physics/platformer. Nice job!

jedemac 2021-04-27 01:21

Very original. Like the turtle and the hare, going slower is actually the fastest way to reach the end.

I enjoyed it.

abvadabra 2021-04-27 01:23

Quite a good example of simple but interesting core mechanic! What's more, map design makes a good job at keeping you focused and careful with your movement. Pretty good entry.

helloitsjiwon 2021-04-27 01:23

I love the music, it really creates a great cave ambiance. It was really hard for me, but I enjoyed playing it!

enderbit 2021-04-27 01:24

This was a cool take for sure! I like the idea its going for. its frustrating but in a good way. great job!

enderbit 2021-04-27 01:24

This was fun and quite a challenge. The movement is very satisfying and made me want to keep playing, well done!

yetrecalllaw 2021-04-27 01:24

That was fun and atmospheric! Moving the hands was really sensitive though, had to turn the dpi on my mouse way down to avoid jack-knifing the lantern into the roof. Maybe this is a rare case where mouse smoothing would be preferred? Once I got used to it and tuned my mouse, I enjoyed the rock-climbing feel. The music was chill too.

Just amazing to have such a cool game in a jam

peculiarcarrot 2021-04-27 01:32

Cool game! I really like the mechanic of the physics-based movement and not letting the lantern touch anything, but it kind of felt more awkward than fun to get anywhere and have the wait on the lantern to stop bouncing like crazy before doing any movements. Maybe I'm not understanding something though. The audio and the graphics were nice! I'm always an advocate for the clean shapes look, especially in game jams ;) I dig the aesthetic!

evil-as-shit 2021-04-27 01:33

Love this. Very fun and addicting physics game! Must have tried about 10 or more times. Great atmosphere and music. Wish I was better at it tho! Couldnt even make it down the first hole x_x

cheese-team 2021-04-27 02:07

Very difficult, great game. Graphics and music were nice.

wobs 2021-04-27 13:22

This is such a cool but incredibly difficult game :D its so satisfying when you get the hang of it and start to move smoothly forward!

Love the simple art style also, it fits the game very well!

abu-sabiq-mahdi 2021-04-27 13:26

I loved the fluidity of the game. But it was really hard to move , so I had to move slowly. Just a suggestion, different types of material for the ropes can be used in different levels. In that way a progression can be made. Good job anyway.

alexhicks 2021-04-27 13:42

Very nice work on the overall game!

Pros: - Art style is consistent and fits very well with colours chosen for important parts of the game which are quick and easy to pick out - Audio: Very Minecraft cave style vibes, very fitting for this volcano cave game - Gameplay: Fun and challenging to master!

Cons: - Perhaps some what to ramp up the swing at the start (not much at the start until after x amount of distance), found the very first tries to get going and understand what was going on.

Has a good imersion, good job!!

bluecalx 2021-04-27 14:31

Nice entry ! Didn't manage to reignite the sun but had some fun tryin to :) I was a bit frustrated by the pace of the game though. The gameplay made me want to swing around the level full speed god's will like a pro MountYourFriends playa ! But the volcano god said no and kicked my ass until I complied to a slower pace. Maybe the sacred lamp's weight is a bit too light ? Music was nice and didn't got old throughout my tries so good job. Anyway, thanks for the fun and have a nice day !

kokonaught 2021-04-27 14:39

Great concept, the music also fits the game very well! The game looks clean and nice. As others have said, it's super hard, mostly I think because the physics don't feel very natural, the lantern comes bouncing back at full speed for no apparent reason pretty often. It could be tweaked into an excellent game though, really liked it even if I didn't break past ~~9~~ 14 meters :D On a side note, the visual feedback when the lantern hits a wall could be stronger, I didn't understand what happened the first few times.

yossarian 2021-04-27 18:20

Nice one! Had to try it after seeing your comment on our game... us rope-games have to stick together. I really like the mechanic in this one, it reminds me of the sticky hand toys I used to have growing up. I am horrible at the game though, I keep smacking that poor lamp into a wall. But overall this is really impressive. It makes me want to try playing around with Unity..

alina-baybulatova 2021-04-28 16:17

Woow great mechanics) I really have fun to play this game!!! Thank you) Really good graphic and soudtrack! Great concept! Bravo!!

m11 2021-04-28 16:21

Really fun movement style!

microchasm 2021-04-28 18:39

Very cool game. It's nice when the player inputs are simple but the output on the screen is complex and interesting. It's also worth noting that the controls are easy and intuitive. It took me a bit to understand that letting the lamp just hit the walls was causing me to fall-- a particle effect on contact would have helped. A nice particle effect of fire of light coming out of the lamp would have been nice to look at as well. The funniest thing that happened was that one time when I fell, I fell through the floors and hit the ending collider and beat the game completely by accident. I also like the idea for the story, you have to imagine what world this is where these are the rules.

merlinnsound 2021-04-30 21:02

This game is really hard. I tried it a lot of times, but didn't make it to the hole. Had to stop, because my wrist started to hurt. The graphics are clean and the colors fit. The music is well-made and interesting, but I would have done a more relaxing track for a game that wants you to move slowly (at least that was my approach). The game concept is very innovative. I didn't play anything like this before. Good work!

bereg 2021-05-02 14:49

The concept is unique and fresh. But the difficulty level is so high right from the start, that it scares noobs like me. I only managed to get to 16 out of 100, and it includes a lot of tries and frustration. Maybe you can add lives or a health meter? Other than that, the game is brilliant and innovative.
