I love how much effort you made in the character creation screen :D This is very close to a real life simulator xD Made me think of Paper Please in some way. Very great job, keep going !
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD53 → Postal Dash!

Very cute game!
I got confused at the start as i didn't know that i can get behind the counter - probably a good idea to either start the player there, or show some objects directly behind the counter - i thought the yellow background was a wall. Next thing that happened I sent a package but couldn't return the receipt, so i got on the road and i filled in the bowl which wasn't even needed on the first day
I got confused at multiple other steps - it's not very clear how exactly to do the stamps, or where to get inbound packages from so explaining the exact steps of how to interact with the game is very useful, not just the high-level description of the job. I'd say as a general rule, err on the side of giving too many instructions rather than too few - this is after all a post office simulator not a post office job - I'm trying to have fun here not just feel like a disappointment :P
Once i got past the confusion with the mechanics I really enjoyed it, seems like a very fun idea, and you do introduce the mechanics over time in a very nice way - just needs a bit more of explaining and i'd think it would be very fun!
The character creation is so cute, and I cannot belive you accomplished that. The movement is slightly jarring, but the overall mechanics are great!!
This is a very interesting delivery game. I spent a long time looking for the pet on the first day, only to find out that I could take care of it on the second day haha. I really like the part where I can customize my character, it allows me to create my own character. Sometimes, the character's layer would be covered by items, or there would be glitches where the character could pass through objects. There were also times when the character couldn't interact with the items, which required restarting the game. However, overall, this is a very good game and I am looking forward to seeing more updates and improvements!
i like your art style the pixel character is nice too
Nice game but pls if you are working on this game!! add a tutorial man!!!!
Overall, good game with nice sfx, audio and gameplay!
I would love for a tutorial or some kind of how-to, as I wasn't able to understand by myself lol :) Seems great, but I didn't played so felt unfair to rate :)
Character creation is great! Beyond that, it was very difficult for me to tell what to do. I was able to pick up a broom, but not sure where to take it.
Interesting game with good progression. I was very pleased with the character constructor, good pixel art and nice music. Often there are bugs, but it's still fun to play.
Nice! The game just kept getting more and more content.
Cool little game! My only question is how did you manage to get character customization in the game on time?!?!?!
@quinnster Actually, the character creation took like 40% of my time!! We wanted to have randomised NPCS, so we had two choices: either we created a pool of like 10 different NPCS or we created random NPCS with like randomised clothings and random colors. We went for the second option (which was probably a mistake, I mean, I could’ve invested my time in something else), and once I had the system to create the random NPCS, applying it to the main character and creating a character creation menu was simple enough. I’m glad you liked that!!
Hahahahaha oh my god, our games both even have character customization! Out of all the games I've played, yours and mine are the only ones I've seen that support it, and... we both also have similar ideas on the core game loop. Even with the notebook that can be hidden and shown again. Wow.
That being said, your game is basically what I was hoping my game would end up as, and has features that I would have liked to have had (a scale to actually measure the packages, etc).
Bravo to you and the team for accomplishing this for the game jam! I had a lot of fun playing around in it.
Thanks @daveybb , we have also seen your game and it kind of seems that our minds crossed paths during the brainstorming hahaha. I think what we have learnt making this projec is what matters, so don't worry and good job for your game also, it's a nice game.
This is very well made!! I'm impressed to see a game with a functioning character creation process in a Jam!
There's a couple criticisms I've got, but feel free to ignore me, you did only have three days after all <3 - I had a very hard time understanding the objective. The 'blue area' was not highlighted, and I had to look at the comments to figure out where I was meant to go. Despite the text, it's very hard to tell what machine or station has been unlocked. - Also, there's a bug where I can withdraw someone's package they're asking for, but then if I drop it in the blue area, it'll send the package elsewhere and all I'm left with is a receipt I can't give to anyone cause I've sent their package away... And so now they're stuck waiting forever TuT oops.. - It's very hard to tell when a day ends, so when I have a limited amount of things to fill my time with, I feel like I'm waiting forever... (Also did the dog thing die?? I forgot about it and then realised the place was filthy and it wasn't moving QnQ)
Anyway, a big game for a jam!
That was fun. It works very well as a game. There are plenty of elements to juggle. As others have said it's a little confusing at points. The graphics were great.
Good stuff :8ball:
As others have said, it's not clear what you need to do, ends up being a bit of trial and error, first package I sent, the receipt didn't seem to be accepted by the customer, which made it a bit confusing, but I restarted and was okay!
Impressive to get character customisation in the game!
Putting character customization in a jam game is impressive, and the core game loop is pretty fun. After the 2nd or 3rd day it seemed like every package I sent out was considered a mistake, even though the weight and stamp seemed fine and it didn't set off the bomb scanner. I'm not sure if it was a bug or if I'm missing something.
Great job, solid pixel art style, fun to play!
