LD55 — Summoning

Echos of Players Past by Jezzamon 2024-04-16T15:48:41Z

WOW! Really entertaining. Really funny. Perhaps a little frustrating - but it's all part of the fun! It can be maddening to see another player tap dancing on and off of a button and you're not sure if you're gonna have enough time to skip over the spikes or not. Shoutout to Thomas who was my ride or die for the first few levels

Ritual of Ribbit by manabreak 2024-04-16T15:35:37Z

Fun game, I only wish the stones were pushable, as I kept losing due to summoning a stone just barely on top of the one I was standing on while traversing the poison

Clone Stacking by CrociDB 2024-04-15T19:30:10Z

Good experience, but a little easy. It reminded me of programming a little bit, with your clones being something like a call stack. I would be interested in seeing some puzzles that depended more on using your interim clones at the right time. Regardless, it is highly polished; sound, graphics, music are all good, and no bugs I could find

Mana Delve by Alex Mulkerrin 2024-04-16T15:25:56Z

Is there a guide on what causes resources to drain? I understand that purple seems to be drained from all towers - but one time I had two yellows and a red tower and I couldn't get any new red gems. Do yellow towers drain red?

Summoners Chess by Widerhold 2024-04-16T18:23:16Z

I can see this being developed into a larger game. Putting static environment elements like water or permanent stones would be an obvious first step. An interesting twist would be to make it if certain elements rubbed up together in a particular way, they would be consumed and summon a new entity, sort of like in the board game Tash-Kalar

The Klent by sirJupitron 2024-04-15T19:15:52Z

An immortal dragon that dies at the slightest brushup?

Clean graphics. A little hard but I found the checkpoints were always put just where they needed to be

Honorius by BitLuderRb7804Fr 2024-04-16T16:03:02Z

Well executed little game. I love the historical flavor to it. Simple, and effective

SokoBane - Descend by PapriGames 2024-04-15T14:10:06Z

I actually had to come back to this one because level 6 seemed to be a difficulty spike at first, but ultimately ended up not being too bad. Once you start combining the two summoned entities, it gets tricky. Fun, and the graphics are good. I wish there was another level or two with the beams on that second to last level. Also, good theme use!

Summing Circle by Rawb 2024-04-16T15:13:46Z

Quite difficult. I wonder if adding more constraints would be interesting - like an equation that has to be valid across the circle, with a big "+" in the center of it? Particularly for the expert mode, it's so large that it felt like a lot of guessing and checking. Still, entertaining

Koballd Crawler by Recher 2024-04-15T13:51:02Z

Fun game and surprisingly challenging, but eventually I was able to get a more intuitive understanding of how the balls were going to move. I got stuck on level 3

Excuse Me... Are You Summoning Crokel? by Yossarian 2024-04-15T15:52:10Z

Really fun and polished experience. My only frustration is that it is a little too punishing. When you get to the later levels, if you fail, the speed increase means there is barely enough time to do the clicking required to connect everything together, due to how many connections are needed to finish the level, let alone actually work to solve it. It can have a disastrous snowballing effect where I eventually got to -4x time and was not able to physically click quickly enough to even potentially beat it

But, the gameplay is fun, and the sound design is top.

The Dog Whistler by BridgeOnAStick 2024-04-15T13:58:26Z

This is one of my favorite interpretations of the theme yet. Is there a specific goal? This game is a little mysterious. As I understand it, each dog has a specific code that will call them? My goal was to eventually summon all of the dogs; I only wish they were colored slightly differently so I could know which ones I had already called

I like the art and overall atmosphere too. Great!

HEXX by andrewkennedy 2024-04-15T17:33:17Z

Very nicely polished little game. The AI was quite good; I always seem to lose by only a hex or two

@goodwincek What is the DOS game you are referring to? I've never played this sort of game before

Druid's revenge by TescoOne 2024-04-15T13:10:46Z

Fun. On one hand I'm frustrated by the lack of control over your creatures, but it also makes it interesting and true to the theme. I like the PS1 game Digimon World where you have only vague control over your partner. Perhaps adding a "mode" for the creatures would increase the depth and also make it less frustrating? If each creature could have a simple "avoid" and "attack" toggle, you could try and get some enemies to run around while your bear cuts them off, etc?

I lost at the one where you get the shark.

Salmoning by woona 2024-04-15T19:54:53Z

I really enjoyed the sound and graphics, and the difficulty was just right. Well put together

Dark Altar by Adrien Tremblay 2024-04-15T03:38:31Z

This seemed fun! Unfortunately it crashed on my browser after a few levels due to high memory usage.

Poisonous Pact by Stefan Funke 2024-04-15T23:04:42Z

This was an interesting game. A little short (unless I am missing something? There is only the poison to make, right?). Feels like an interactive wallpaper - extremely pleasing to look at and listen to! To add some drama to the game, a fail state for going too slow I don't think would be unfair, for example if the ingredients disappeared when the wizard asked for them, leaving you unable potentially to escape. Since the game doesn't take long it would feel too bad

IWANT by CO5MONAUT 2024-04-15T15:26:48Z

Intriguing. Reminds me of Henry Hatsworth and other similar dual screen DS games (but especially Hatsworth). Good looking too. Also reminds me of any multitude of old beguiling PS1 games that keep me playing to try and understand it better.

Favorite action: "i want feed skeleton using rock with force". Amusing game!

The Ballet by Sevansevan 2024-04-15T03:56:06Z

Nice looking and playing game. I will need to come back to it, as I found it hard to develop a strategy for how to shape my actors, even after a handful of levels

Commander by Kai Tabuchi 2024-04-15T03:43:04Z

Just a little easy. I wish there was a limit on the number of spike balls you could summon. By sitting in a corner and clicking a lot, it was trivial, especially because the spikes seemed to have homing

Infernal Refreshments by MissingPixel 2024-04-15T19:43:50Z

Wow - this is probably the most difficult game I have yet played in this compo. Fun; I am going to come back to it. Embarrassingly I got stuck only on level 3 or 4. It feels exactly like a sega genesis game!

Endless Engagement by OobOob 2024-04-15T17:51:21Z

Despite the simple graphics, I thought the atmosphere was good. Decently fun, but I was also unable to find a winning strategy. I tried it a few times and despite controlling 3/5 of the resource deposits the enemy always stomped me
