I love the music and the sense of speed! But I was a bit confused for a while about what to hit and what to avoid, and when to use dash. But I really like the feel of the game.
Sadly it crashes a lot. But I love the artstyle, and it is actually quite fun to play.
The squads seem to just disappear really quickly, and I seem to have no chance to survive.
I love the oldschool 8-bit graphics! Looks like an Atari 2600 game or such. I got stuck in the ceailing though.
I didn't get how to catch the fish. The fish seem to hook, then I press the key on the screen, the fish lands at my feet, then rolls back to sea... I like the idea and the graphics thoough.
@namespacev Yes, I've seen some people trying the game, that all seemed to expect that. I might change it. But I don't know if that is considered a small bugfix allowed after deadline.
@fredrik-andersson Yes, it should be hard enough to at least challenge everybody a little, but some will still finish the game is first try. Most people seem to get at least quite far in their first attempt.
@alex-mulkerrin If you like the art, there is an extra treat, if you finish all 7 levels. ;-)
@piero-pbes-studio Thanks! I’m really glad to hear people enjoying it. It was important to me, to make something that could feel done, I didn’t want just another unfinished project.

This is my first Ludum Dare experience, and I'm blown back by the positivity of this community! Thanks so much for all the kind words! May you all have a great day! And goood luck with your games! <3
@aeveis Good to hear that at least someone saw the ending! <3 i really wanted to make some kind of boss battle, but I was lacking good ideas for it. Your comment makes me want to work on that, and maybe release a new version. Look out for updates on the Pico-8 BBS. ;-)
@custodi If you open the Pico-8 link on a mobile, it works quite well. :)
That was fun! It kept me on my toes foor 24 waves. I like how balanced the game feels! Good work!
This is fun. :) I smiled.
Not loading for me either. :(
Wow, that scoreboard is a cleaver idea!! And the game is fun, I like the very different enemy types.
The image makes me want to try your game... :)
Yay, I won!
Cute game, but I really feel like the game needs a tutorial, or at least have the keys under the dance moves in the book. I found it really hard to remember...
The level generator had some problems, on level 4 I started in a rooom with no doors. :P
It really needs some visual feedback when losing health, or you will have no sense of danger, you will just die without knowing why. I'm totally in love with the graphical style however!
Yay, it took a while, but I did it! :) Card game part was fun...but not sure I understood how the dating part even worked.
Yay, that was fun. And the model is cute and scary at the same time, I love it!
Wow! What a great little puzzle game! Love the cats! <3
I got Max Fury twice. :P
I just get an error...
Cute! I love the graphics and the theme. But it would be more satisfying, if you could see the enemy taking damage, you have no real feedback that tells you that the more expencive "towers" are moore powerful. Maybe an animation or a number telling the damage or both. :)
Fun little simple game, but yes, also took me 2 tries to figure out...but that was just part of the fun. I really love the artstyle.
I love this! :)
Cute! :)
At level 50 I had about 1 fps, but I had fun anyway. :)
This is quite fun, survived for 2:15 in the first try, will try again. :)
Finally I got around to this game. And I'm glad that I did. This was amazing! I had some performance issues when building the bridges, but it wasn't too bad. And I was a bit confused, when I got new critters that disappeared again at soon as they landed. I only made it half way through level 2, but I had a lot of fun. I had to figure out the controls, I didn't really understand the help screen, but I figured it out. Fantastic modelling and fun gameplay!
The artwork is perfect. I felt a bit confused about what was going on. I guess it is hard to have strategy in rock paper scissors, but I was unsure when I did good, so it didn't feel so rewarding. But I like the idea of the game, and the graphics and mood is fantasic.
What a fun little game, with soo much polish! And using my favorite fantasy console! Strong entry! Great work.
Score: 884 Fun, but got a little tedious in the end. Pico-8 is great fun, please try my game too.
The reverse mouse made it really hard to play. I liked it otherwise.
I liked it, and I loved the graphics and sound. But I was confused about what things actually did.
I had a lot of fun!! My weapon got so OP in the end, that my PC couldn't keep up. Great game, and I love the environment.
Score: 252
Nice to see another Pico-8 game! :) It was a fun little game to try. Maybe the intro screen could have displayed the carrots and told that the grey ones make you sick. But then again, maybe discovering it is more fun. Great little entry!
I loved this, The art is perfectly spooky, and sets a mood. And I like the simple but interesting game mechanic. I wish that the hand would grab, where the creature was, and not just always in the middle. And I saw a few times, where I clearly released the button too late (outside the sweet spot), but I still got it.
Oh, I just realized the difference in animation between eating and squshing them. I think it wasn't complete clear to me, that I did something wrong, as I focused on that the creature disappeared and thought that as a positive feedback from the game.
I liked how the cats interact and have a mind of their own. A little annoying (but realistic) when they got in your way. Use some cuter cat sounds and make them play less often, and the sound would go from hilariously annoying to cute and fun. Managed to get 11 cats saved.

Just set up a simple state machine, and wrote a one line helper function to center text. Still just an empty project waiting for a theme and a brainstorm.
@historymaker118 That makes me happy to hear. I grew up with Commodore 64, so I was used to hard games growing up...that might still influence me. ;) Good luck with your practice, I hope you make it through the game, please let me know if you do. :)
@steffo You are right. I didn’t have time to balance the game, to make the game more skill based and less luck based. That could be improved a lot.
@wisstopher Thanks! Yes, maybe it should have had a grass patch before the sidewalk to start on.
Personal record: 461.6s
@koolruz Wow, thanks for the constructive feedback! :) I'm glad that you notticed the traffic simulation. I have wanted to do something like that for a while. It was quite simple to create, but seems to work quite well. I could tweek it to make people act like less jerks -- but then that might be less realistic. :P
I must admit that I didn't think about placing the power meter just above the frog. But after feedback, this is where I would put it now.
Personally I find the screen shake to be good. But you are sooo right about the quick respawn. If there was a delay, so that you could better see what had happened, it would be much better. I might try to change that after the jam. Also there is a bug that makes it sometimes play the water splashing sound, even when you hit the goals...I couldn't find the problem yet---that just adds to the confusion.
I'm glad you like the pixel art, it is not what I'm best at, but I was happy about the things you mention. Sadly I didn't find a better way to draw the frog, it is quite ugly...and it is the main character. Hehe
I wanted the player to not be safe in the beginning, so that you might be forced to jump on to the road. And as you have unlimited lives, dying at the start, is not really a problem. And it made for a more bloody game. ;)
Thanks for the feedback!
@johnnysix That is actually a really good idea, to use the arrow keys like that! I don’t know, why I didn’t think of that! :-) I might make people more likely to actually use jumping sideways. And make changing direction take less time. I might actually try to implement it like that later.
I like it! Nice graphical style. And always fun to bulid within constraints.
Short, but very fun. The controls worked well. I wish there was a leaderboard. ;)
Nice! I love it! Strong jam game! I love the different look and behaviour of the little creatures.
I love the PICO-8 fantasy console! My games looks like a rushed mess now. :P ...and it sort if is, so that's okay. I tried to make my students do games in PICO-8 for this jam as well, but very few finished something, and even fewer handed it in. But they will continue their work after the jam anyway. :)
I'm not very good at these kinds of games. But this one has such nice controls, that I feel like I could get to master it. I played it for just a little while, but still felt my skills improve. I know people who love these kinds of games, and I have a deep respect for them. I feel like this is a really strong game because of the controls and level design. I also really like the character design. Good job!
I feel like this needs a watering mechanic. And maybe a way to progress towards calming the chicken with food (I don't know if that is already there, and if it is it just needs to be indicated to the player somehow. I liked the game, it is cute, and farming games are fun. Also, turning the theme upside down is fun.
I pressed z on the workshop, and I got a black screen. Anything else I tried didn't do anything. I need an explaination on how to play this... But it looks interesting.
A nice simple game, that works really well. It feels a bit to easy to be really fun, and the spider just makes you go in circles. I really like the simple art style though. :)
I wish that I could jump, run and punch. Breaking stuff is fun. And the art style is nice. I wish it was longer too, more stuff to break please.
Art and voice were great, creating an amazing mood.
Really fun, the difficulty is really good. I like the art style. I do however think that the hitboxes on the enemies are a bit big. I seemied to die from running into them, without actually touching them.
Nice little puzzle game with some fun level design, the maze one was maybe a bit on the easy side for when it was in the game. I liked the simple graphics. And it is a clever way to exploit, that pathfinding is hard. :)
It was unsatisfying when you die without being hit. Especially in a game where being close is the objective. With a more precise collision detection, I think this could be a fun little game. :)
I like it, it took a while to get the hang of the maze. I wish there were more different minigames. And I don't know if there is a goal, do I have to tie down a certain number of ropes to progress, or just see how many I can manage?
So I found two balls, rolled one into the hole somehow, the other one wouldn´t. And the toads look more scary than they are? Did I miss something? Could become a great game. I wished that you would have to go backwards to roll the ball, that would have made sense and could have been a thing to master. Nice idea for the game though!
What am I doing wrong? I can't get the stamps to do anything. I can get the passport, I can move it around, I can move the stamps... I guess I have to right click to use the stamp...but nothing. What am I doing wrong?
Oh, I found out!
@broheartttv I was picking it up and moving it with left mouse button, then I would let go of it, and right click--expecting it to stamp. I think right click should work no matter if the stamps is being held with left click or not. :) But what you suggest might work too.
I also had another small issue. The rules have to be taken litteral, than a human expects. All the falsely rejected potatoes I had were due to a rule -- reject if expires in less than 6 months. It took me a while to figure out, that this means to let already expired potatoes through. I mean, it makes sense, but it seams wrong.
