LD35 — Shapeshift

Shape Shifters by SelfTitled 2016-04-18T17:40:00

I spend a good time loading that truck high over capacity, and then everything fell off. 8/10

Metamorph by RockhopperGames 2016-04-18T11:27:00

The controls felt very floaty to me, which made this hard to play.

Mirror's Polygon by batmanasb 2016-04-18T11:36:00

I was really bad at this, so I couldn't progress really far.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Benefice by JustinMullin 2018-12-05T18:17:14Z

It is a really solid start, but the rules should definitely explained more, especially with regard to combat (pirates blowing stuff up). I also feel like the balance should been worked on more. On the other hand, I really think that the polish (graphics & sound) is superb. Overall, I think you should have shifted some effort from polishing to playtesting. Otherwise: good game.

WAYT by wsKilljoy 2018-12-06T14:33:48Z

The first level was already very difficult, the margins in which you have to jump are extremely thin. I think that it is also not helped by the fact that it appears you are running on ice.

Castle Siege by Mordi 2018-12-05T18:55:07Z

At the moment you do not have a valid download. You have given the source code, but no .exe is supplied. As it is, I have downloaded your files but am incapable of playing it. Once you supply the exe, I could play and rate your game.

The Shrining by Hunter Towe 2018-12-06T14:14:18Z

I think you had to do too much walking and searching for what you have to do. Otherwise neat concept.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Hasteus by exilegl 2020-10-21T12:35:22Z

Not sure how you can lose, so it becomes a bit monotonous once you know what to do. Good sound design though.

Station 8 by quadtree 2020-10-05T10:07:00Z

This is a nice game. I also played on easy and died like 8 times. The one bad point was that the reticule only works well over a longer distance. For schorter distances, it's off by quite a bit, mostly causing my to shoot against walls when I tried to stay behind cover.

Escape! by burnedkirby 2020-10-21T12:48:26Z

Neat game. The minigame was a bit weird, and rather tricky, but I did manage to do it. As others have said: the music is very nice.

Minion Madness by qfeys 2020-10-05T09:32:08Z

@maxwell3000 Thank you for the hint. When I try that, the game does start, however it still hangs when trying to switch to the game scene. (That window in the beginning is a different scene.) If anyone knows how to fix this, I'd be greatfull.

@james-joubert Thank you for the feedback. Could be fun is already a win in my book! - I'd had hoped that the window at the beginning of the game would have been enough, but apparently not. - Tuning the river height was pretty tricky. Reasons being that the level had to be a continuous, cyclic function, and testing it takes a couple of minutes of playtime each time. I also wanted it to rise quickely, but the player should probably get more tools to deal with it. Maybe a warning a couple seconds in advance? - I only noticed that the minions were not bouncing of each other somewere sunday afernoon. When I tried to implement Unity's native collision engine, I got all sorts of problems, so I ended up implementing something myselve. I guess that is a lessen for the next time: don't do that. - I had on my planning to animate the minions, but I lost a lot of time the last time with animating, so I had that planned as the very last thing, which meant that it fell of the planning. - The loop was the rising and falling of the river you are stuck under! Should I put some bad pun in the title screen to emphasis this?

Orbits by Week of the agents 2020-10-05T09:43:43Z

What you had was nicely polished, although I wasent sure what the point was in what I was doing. Once I knew what I was doing, there wasen't really anything left to do.

Last Song by SandroT 2020-10-05T09:55:09Z

There is a problem with you windows exicutable. When I try to run it I get the following error:

ALERT!

Error: Couldn't load project data at path ".". Is the .pck file missing? If you've renamed the executable, the associated .pck file should also be renamed to match the executable's name (without the extension).

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Mars Cave Explorer by OddballDave 2021-05-16T20:43:52Z

This was an amazingly hard game to play, until I died a couple of times and inverted the controls and got the hang of it. Than it was still hard, and a surprisingly lot of fun.

The only thing I can remark on the gameplay is that there could have been a bit more reward for the little victories (getting your ship back in one piece the first time).

The graphicst were simple, but really neat, which I liked a lot.

The music was good, gave off the right mood, and was not too short of a loop. The sound design was as well cool.

Deep Focus by StaNov 2021-05-16T19:53:21Z

For a game 'withouth' graphics, it was really fun and engaging.

One point of improvement is that when you have a high focus, you can't see anything else of the game. That was initially a cool effect, but at some point, you can't see what's comming at you. Maybe make the effect vaguely transparent?

The ingame tutorial diissapeared before I had completely read it, so I had to restart the game to read the rest.

The music was a nice touch.

DigSweeper by radmccool 2021-05-16T21:58:55Z

This felt kinda interesting at first, but after not very much time, it already started becomming repetative. In certain cases, you also had to be carefull about dropping down a level in order to not bump against a mine one tile over.

I can understand not finding the time (or skill) to make background music, but I would not have used wind sounds instead. I thought that windsound was rather hostile, in the sense that it discourages from palying.

The graphics are honestly kinda shit.

All in all I would concider this a neat concept, but I would reserve much more timie for polish when you make your next game.

Go Deeper by Jeffez 2021-05-16T18:47:56Z

The movement system is original and good, if a bit clunky. The climbing mechanic is fun, but I would like it if you moved a bit faster.

The level design is a bit weird, as it was hard to find all the 'keys' in the maze, or know where you are or where you have to go. It felt a bit like a procederaly generated cave system gone wrong.

The idea of additional layers of music for different levels is a nice one, if the musiic was better.

Shelter in the Deep by qfeys 2021-04-26T12:29:37Z

@axeltherabbit Thanks for the hint. Itch.io was surprisingly easy to use. There is a link now.

@alexjdg That was something for which I had written code to prevent. Unfortunatly, I wasn't calling that code :D. I'll see to push a fix.

Shelter in the Deep by qfeys 2021-04-26T15:11:13Z

@elllelel I pushed the fix I promised in my previous comment and now the ground textures sould infinitly regenerate as you go down.

@axeltherabbit Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunaltly, both your suggestions are nog going to work because of how I set upt the project. My ui is very much fixed to a single esolution, and my game data is reliant on singletons that exist outside of the main scene. This was my very first Godot project, and while I learned a lot, this might contain the ugliest code I've ever written ;). I'm glad you like it though.

Shelter in the Deep by qfeys 2021-05-16T20:26:51Z

@stanov The reason the the corruption stated to catch up on you is because greater depth makes the drills slower. In the original design plan, there would have been an option to send more power to a singular drill, but that got scrapped because of time constraints ;)

Welcome to the Factory by epb9000 2021-05-16T18:26:59Z

Interesting idea, and well exicuted. However, it quickly becomes boring if you have to play through it a second time, for example when you die.

There are also several dangers that are offscreen, so you have to die - or go slow - to spot them.

Sound design is good, if a bit loud, but the music felt very quickly repetative, and maybe a bit irritating.

Anteater by Fernando Tonon de Rossi 2021-05-16T21:31:46Z

This feels like a prototipe of which you were not sure what direction you want to go to or what the gameloop is supposed to be.

I can click to eat ants (although sometimes the click seems to do nothing), but there is no chalange, incentive or payoff for this game. When you make your next game, these 3 things might be a good guide when figuring out the concept of your game.

All Mine by Abdul Zakkar 2021-05-16T19:33:56Z

Good puzzles, but it was difficult to figure out how to start playing. The controls - placing of the miners and collectors, were not the most intuitive. The existing tutorials did not particularly help.

Otherwise: beautifull graphics and great music.

The Stick of Many Thingsā„¢ by Ty Victorson 2021-05-16T18:17:37Z

Easy to start playing. Nice graphics and lighting. From the second level onwards it started to get a bit boring. After I fell into the water twice I didn't bother to continue playing.

Down There Somewhere! by ETdoFresh 2021-05-16T18:35:05Z

Started out looking neet, but quickly I noticed there is really nothing to do in this game, except moving. There is no skiill, chalange or incentive involved. As such, it is rather boring.

Art was okay for a starting project. Sound was also a nice start. However, there should have been more for a good score.

RK XK by NiKaDra 2021-05-17T19:41:08Z

A really neat platformer. I think the concept is quite original, and I liked it. THe difference between the drill and the shovel was maybe a bit gimmicky, but I guess it made for a bit of a challenge where there otherwise wouldn't be one. I is unfortunate that the bombs were the worst way to excavate.

The graphics were pretty good. I thought that the sound design was superb for the compo.

Dig 'Till You Drown! by Yeomsley 2021-05-17T20:35:34Z

The controls felt very 'floaty', and I thought that climbing with the pickaxe was hard to very hard. It was also not challenging, but frustrating. I think it could have done with stronger gravity, which would have make the game pacing a lot quicker.

The graphics were basic, but okay.

The sound design was decent. the music was just shy of being annoying. A bit longer loop could have helped.

Congratulations, Debt! by Thinh 2021-05-16T19:41:44Z

I didn't really get the point of the game. I was collecgin stuff, and than I had to collect more stuff. There was no chalange, incentive or payoff to this game.

Art was basic. Music was okay.

grem by zzox 2021-05-16T20:56:09Z

Neat game. The light mechanic was well thought through and executed. I especially liked how you can light the torches on the walls, or have to light your own torch.

The enemies hidden by the dark is a good mechanic, but sometimes they came a little bit out of nowhere, causing you to die without there being anything that you can do about it. On the other hand, restarting a level is easy, so I could memorise the patterns instead :)

Graphics were as close to perfect as you can get with that art style, so congrats for that.

Sound design was nice, but the music loop was a bit to short.

Other than that, I wish there were a bit more levels ;)

Duskwood by Voidsay 2021-05-16T19:01:48Z

At first, I had to search a bit before I found the way I had to go, but after that, it was straightforward to play.

The mood was good. It was carried for a large part my the mist layer and wind sounds, but to great effect.

I never felt the need to use the axe, since I could simply sprint past the scary trees. That felt a bit like a wasted mechanic.

Other than that, there was not very much action, making it almost feel a bit like a walking simulator, but the game ended before it got boring.

Depths Mining Co. by Jotlane 2021-05-17T20:56:14Z

Interesting concept. I think it is a bit slow paced.

A big issue I have though is that when you go to the surface to sell, you loose the tunnel you've already made.

The graphics were a bit crap, but it was cool how the diver had different mining animations depending on their orientation.

The sound design was okay, but the music loop was just a bit too short.

Deep Dive to the wormhole by Retro Banana Man NL 2021-05-16T19:19:39Z

I remember playing Motherload, so this did not seem particularly innovative ;).

Well made though. The graphics are good. Only unfortunalty that the text on the buildings was scribbled like that. It dropped the apparent quality by quite a bit.

Sound was not to bad, as long as I played it rather softly.

The game felt somewhat slow at times, but overall, it was an enjoyable game.

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Mini Beasts by cassowary 2024-10-07T00:45:27Z

Nice game. I didn't explore it full right now, as it's too late in the evening to focus on these puzzels, but it felt really well done and polished. I especially liked the music and sound design.

Tiny Creature Attack by Dean James 2024-10-07T00:36:12Z

It looks like there is something wrong with your itch.io link. It looks like your profile doesn't have anything published yet. Is your game maybe still set to 'draft'?
