I like the dragon flying mechanics, it feels really tight! The combat's fun too, but enemies are a little punishing if the dragon dies and you can't escape in time. Really fun game, good luck!

Really like the simple graphics. Simple mechanics and the level design is really good. Could see this as a complete game with a storyline
Overall Great job. Loved the art style and sound design. The level design was a bit confusing.
Reminds me of retro games I used to play as a kid!
This game was very fun. I like how you can mash the buttons to fly really hard or shoot really good. It feels fun to do. My only complaint is that I wish the big green guys had some kind of indication for when they would stop and start moving the other direction. I hate missing my ride!!!
This a a great advetnure, it made me go 'ARGH' a few times XD. Flying was pretty fun, quite retro. I'm glad it saved your progress after picking up the staff!
Great job!
I love the oldschool 8-bit graphics! Looks like an Atari 2600 game or such. I got stuck in the ceailing though.
Giant has knees and for some reason thats incredible.
@lexgear bone structure will be explained in part 2, are very important to story. Nice eye
@bitluderrb7804fr ceiling can be traps too, deep inside this game is a soulslike, like life.
@swerky Thank you! your words warm my soul.
@impalpable the "ARGH" part was the exact letter I wanted players to say so this is what victory sounds to me. Thank you for playing!
Fun gameplay, great that you dida add save mechanic without it it would be impossible for me ;P
@christo-staszewski green guys will make special faces before turning around, maybe he can also throw you away. Thank you for playing!
@meepster hi to your inner kid then! thank you for playing!
@acsid will have part 2!
I finished it, got to the episode 1 diamond. Man what a cool game. I really love those 2600 style sprites, they are just gorgeous and not something I usually expect to see these days. And the modern metroidvania almost puzzle like progression system to traverse the levels keeps it interesting. The only problem I had was trying to time that one jump onto the 2nd giants hand, but after a few tries I nailed it.
I really appreciate the forgiving checkpoint system, especially in a jam game, it made getting through the entire game a great experience.
@warren-fisher time is the 4th dimension of this game, dragons will make life easier. Thank you for playing!
@yohadams there is a $99 DLC on the way where you can save every milisecond. Thank you for playing!
@magnusfurcifer so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you!
I love the big guy who helps us.
@theyflower several religions sometimes call him god, are you talking about him?
@sirjupitron No, I mean the big guy in this game ;p
@theyflower dude, I've been praying since you commented, be more specific please. Thank you for playing!
really cool game! had a lot of fun playing :) the art is really good too
@gemcc thanks a lot for playing!
To be honest I was a little bit affraid by the cover, but it's just an awesome good old game :thumbsup: well done ! The mechanics are working well, the graphics are nice in their style, everything is clear with a good choice of color, I enjoyed playing it :wink:
@leozero good you trusted me beyond your fears. Thanks for playing!
Best game ever, this is really super fun to play. Loves the style too, really gooood job.
@scoobydoo thanks!
Cool oldschool graphics and sound effects. Dino looks so happy to be there.
I enjoyed how the features worked together. After the lava room i got stuck in the door with the green button. Was positively happy to see there was checkpoints when I died :D
great job! - Sami
@alex-mulkerrin Thank you! Extra info: Dino was a dog that I loved very much.
@zamizmi Thank you for playing Sami! We currently have 247 QA playtesters checking the game for every bug for the second episode to be ready, with more secrets, new dragon summons, new staff powers, it will be made in Unreal Engine 7, to be released 2029.
I gotta say, I immediately grasped the concept of flying from the animation alone. The wings flapping was so well done. The blocky art reminded me an old DOS game called Dangerous Dave. Great work!
@binroot will look into the game, thanks a lot for playing.
Reminds me of an old C64 game called "H.E.R.O.", which I loved as a kid! Completed the game, and enjoyed every bit of it. :)
Amazing game, i really like this retro art style and the mechanics, i got stuck at some point where there was a doot that wouldn´t open but i really enjoy playing
@manabreak looking into the recommendation, thank you for completing the game! Here is a reward *gives icecream*
@josang1567 Thank you for playing, there are some bugs left, hopefully will be solved for Episode 2 or you can always replay the game. Thanks again
I absolutely love simple graphic games, this is really well made and a unique take on the theme, many people are doing things with wizards while you are summoning a companion to help you, was really fun to play! Good job!
Lots of features implemented really well. Great job.
This is so well designed! Really enjoyed the Atari aesthetics and it was tightly polished. Everything really contributed to the overall enjoyability of the game. My one minor quibble is that "summoning" isn't super central to the game, but if you want to argue that you're summoning the dino and summoning the staff, I'll allow it. :sweat_smile: Just a really fantastic game to have made in such a short frame and I enjoyed it a lot!
Great game! The flying mechanic feels real good, and the platforming is tight. The retro art style and the music really brings it all together. Good job!
@congeesetador thanks!
@pe7e tried my best! glad you liked it!

Episode 1 complete! What a solid entry. The Atari 2600-style graphics and flickscreen levels typical of that era give it a very distinctive art style. But the standout feature is the level design of the first episode; the puzzles and level layout are so well thought out, making it fun from start to finish. Perhaps the music could be a bit less repetitive, but that's a minor point. I just want to congratulate you on creating such an excellent game by yourself in just 48 hours, well done!
@mrwarranty glad you liked it! Theme is fuel for ideas, not always click in the right way and sometimes, forced implementation slows design! Thanks!
@ghettobastler thank you! :)
@milq your kind words mean so much, so glad you had a good time playing. Extra info: not to brag but started sunday 1am, that's why I want to do an Episode 2 with more cool stuff like new Dragons, Staff, friends and enemies but we'll see. Thanks a lot!
It's like flappy bird on the Atari
Jokes aside, nice job - it was fun but very hard! I did get a bit confused when I found text that said press J to shoot but it wouldn't work (I hadn't found the staff yet)
@danga Flappy Bird, Montezuma, Metroid, Castlevania, Mario, the thing we do is a collection of experiences. Didn't thought about going forward without the Staff! Thanks for sharing!
An immortal dragon that dies at the slightest brushup? :thinking:
Clean graphics. A little hard but I found the checkpoints were always put just where they needed to be
@alanbrook if he dies he dies.
Loved it! The the gameplay was solid, and although there were just a few enemies, they offered a good variety of challenge. I loved the moment when I realized that the flying enemies would also work as platforms.
I really don't have too many complaints. The biggest one is that the Atari-era graphics were working so well, that the crisp high-res text did a big disservice to the visual consistency. The horizontally-stretched checkerboard pattern also took me out of the moment a bit.
There was a bug where getting hit by the first enemy in the game would leave him stuck to you, but wouldn't kill you until you jumped to leave and re-enter the hitbox.

@andrewkennedy YOU WON A TROPHY! NEW BUG DISCOVERED!- There's your reward. Thanks a lot for playing and for you detailed review, will kick the bug out of the planet.
Very oldschool cool graphics. When I first found dino I was afraid it was going to turn into a flappy bird fiesta. Glad it didn't turn out that way. The music is a bit too repetitive for my taste, but with the time limit there's rarely time to make something that sounds good. Well done on making an enjoyable game!
Very cool game! I really liked how the mechanics interacted with each other, for example riding the dino would make it to where you were too high to shoot the shorter enemies. A lot of very clever stuff in this game. The checkerboard world did hurt my eyes after a bit and any time I had to back-track to get another dino got me a little frustrated, but overall I really enjoyed this entry, good work!
OMG I can ride a dino I love it !!
@cogcomp so glad you can see past the small things to enjoy the game. So nice you played. Thanks
@maggardjosh needs a lot of polish! So cool you noticed the height of the enemies and shots. Sorry about your eyes lol. Thank you for playing!
Really enjoyed the game! When I got to the end I wanted another level so it really felt good! I absolutely loved the flappy bird mechanics for the dino. I was a bit skeptical about it when I first got on but once I got the hang of it, it worked really well with how the levels were designed and just felt fun. It was nice that you got to use it a lot but also had time off it which made you appreciate it more.
@gaverion thank you for giving the game a chance, so happy that you finished it. Episode 2 coming some time in the future, let's keep in touch. Thank you for playing.
This was a really groovy game! I loved the two music tracks, and the world was bizarre and ethereal (in a good way).
At the split path on the third screen, I went left first, and was a bit confused by "shoot staff with j" since it J didn't do anything (and I didn't know about the staff). It would probably help to signal the player to go right there, or hide that message until the staff is picked up.
There was at least one time where the black transition between screens caused me to fall into spikes. Not sure what engine you're using, but maybe the game can be paused during the transition screen?
Otherwise it was fun flying around levels with the dragon, and I enjoyed how the game introduced new mechanics over the course of the game.
Bonus pic, you can get trapped in the ceiling if you're up there when the dragon disappears :)

@sudocoffee "at his time Sudocoffe will be known in all the galaxy as Master Videogame Bughunter." I've used Construct 3 for this and since the time was limited hence the bugs. Nice you've enjoyed it besides bugs, thanks a lot.
Awesome game! Definitely got some arcade vibes from it. At first I thought it was a bit unforgiving, but once I got used to the mechanics a bit, the level of challenge was welcoming!
@aivaxela thank you for playing!
Loved it! Reminds me of some of the plug-and-play games I had as a kid. Hopping on a dino and flying around is surprisingly very fun! My only criticism is that I went left at the start, missed the staff, and got confused when the game told me to shoot it - I thought my controls were broken for a moment. :wink: Solid compo entry, great job!
@lectvs will soon fix going to the left with no staff. Ticking that nostalgia itch is something awesome. Thanks a lot for playing
I really like the authentic retro style of the games art and also the fly mechanic and story. However I felt it was not communicated that people ahve to get the staff before they can shoot. I went left immediately and was confused. Also my dino kept randomly dying?? And i felt it was annoying when it died, I would have to walk back to a summoner and respawn it.
@adrien-tremblay tried my best, I think it’s a miracle that Dino flew tbh. Thank you for playing!
Gave me really old school MS-DOS game vibes from back in the day. It was fun exploring the little world you built here. I liked the detail of how the music changes whenever you die, which was refreshing to respawn and try again when I was on a difficult platforming section.
There was a really interesting pattern of exchanging your staff and mounting/dismounting to get past each obstacles which added a nice light puzzle element to it. The only factor I didn't enjoy was the dino summon disappearing after a short time. Dismounting = "Okay, I've gotta go on foot for bit... this will be slower and more calculated with my jumps." Ran out of time and disappeared = "Dangit... now I gotta walk back to re-summon just to get back to this screen again... this is gonna take foreverrrr!"
But it did create a sense of urgency to keep going forward and beat the game! I had a great time playing. I really enjoyed the character designs, especially the tall green guy. Loved this game! Good job

@goodwincek thank you for kind words and detailed review, I’ll do what I can to learn and improve.
I loved this game! Very funy and addictive. The dino reminds me of Yoshi and sometimes I feel like i'm leaving it behind to the bad guys hahaha
But guys, please show me how to pass the lava phase! :'( I need a lot to continue playing this game.

@tata use J key or Left click to Shoot the red X on the wall above the door while flying (you have to get the Staff first)
I loved the game, I like the look of it, it feels like playing an old atari game, such a trong entry
I love this type of stylized graphics
Very cute aesthetic and sound design. Some issues. I went left instead of right early on and didn't understand why J didn't shoot anything, thought it was broken. In some areas (like the first x), you can get awkwardly stuck on the walls. Sometimes it seems like the dino dies for no reason.
This is a really good compo entry! I liked the tight controls, it took me a little bit to get used to it but then it was really fun! Loved Dino! Great entry!
good game! dragon flying mechanics where nice but it was quite annoying whenever it disapeared because the walking felt quite slow
Polished, consise and charming well done! Instantly reminded me of adventure on atari with the art design. Great combo of light puzzling and platforming. It’s a full package and only part 1, great job :D
nice puzzle game,Love this bird and shooting machine so much,the second big green man room with spikes is hard to jump
Your game's level of completion is just so high and it feels so mature—it's utterly mind-blowing. I’ve checked it over and over to make sure it's not a jam project but a compo entry because, honestly, you hardly ever see games at this level from a jam. You're incredibly talented, and I'm really eager to learn a whole lot from you.
do like the atari style, cool game!
A very neatly designed game, I was surprised at how long and also well thought out it is! As a fan of retro games and VVVVVV, I was immediately in love with aesthetics and the second track is a bop! The only big gripe I have with the game is the big green dude that moves you around, I love how derpy he is, but he moves way too slow from one point to another ;_;
I had a lot of fun playing it. It's crazy how latformers always work for me. The balance between the different elements of gameplay is really nice and the big monster is weird.
Very oldskool and unique game. Liked it!
Nice old school platformer, controls felt decent and it had a strong visual theme. Great job!
@castitatis thank you for playing!
@pusheeneiro and i love you for playing!
@trogdor-20x6 several people did that and is going to be fixed, thank a lot for sharing.
@tucan and Dino loves you. Thanks so much for playing
@blackcat508 it's always faster when you're flying a dragon. Thank you for playing
@vortexb Atari sure was the inspiration, thank you for playing!
@olddog but you managed to get past the second green man? thanks a lot for playing!
@drgcandle there are several persons living inside me, that's the secret. Glad you mention that, this place is to learn from each other, that a cool observation. Thank you for your kind words, means a lot.
@spookyrobloxman999 thank you cool ldjam friend.
@sodoj green guy will move faster, I promise. VVVVV sure was an inspiration. Thanks for playing!
@julienlussiez weird in a good way? thank you for playing!
@joost glad you liked it. Thanks
@wilsk thank you!
So nice game. I was really courious what is at the end.
Awesome game overall! only critique I have is that the text was too high res when everything else was so brilliantly retro, but that's a minor thing, fucking awesome! :D
The enemy look like amongus XD. I think the game should force player to get the staff first, I was pretty confused because I went to the left room first. also I think sometime the bird just randomly died. Nice aesthetic, color scheme and retro vibe btw!
Cool! with the good ol' retro vibe :) That's a very nice compo !
It's simple but really fun, there is a variety of things to do and they blend together pretty well. I found myself absorbed in the game pretty quickly. I fell out of the flow when I reached the part where you only have to jump, but I kept failing
Very unique graphics and vibes. Reminded me a lot of the original Adventure! I'd love to see more in this style with more puzzle elements. I also think that the right of the pit area would be a good place to hide an easter egg if you backtrack with the flying guy ;)
@dywanix have you reach the end? will sure continue. Thank you for playing
@peralllax thought it would be better to be clearly readible but I get your point. Thank you!
@porchor will adress that, thank you!
@cristian-gurra so nice you enjoyed it! will think about improving platforming. Thanks
@merb1000 there's room for secrets and more stuff, will make a second episode for sure. Atari games was the art reference, nice eye. Thank you!
A fun little game with a good progression of difficulty and neat platforming. I was a bit confused the first couple times Dino disappeared, so some kind of timer would have been helpful. Thanks for the game!
I loved the retro style tbh, also I found the difficulty really balanced, and that's usually something really hard to do. Well done!
Nice game,that tall guy is funny~
This was pretty fun! I had some trouble with the controls at times, but not having to start over when I died was a nice and welcome surprise.
Dismounting the dino threw me to the side a bit which caused some unwanted effects, e.g. dropping off the ledge and to the screen below, but those weren't that bad. Then at some point I think I got stuck inside a wall or just the edge of the screen probably because of this and couldn't continue.
Anyway, I liked the retro style, and I think all parts of the game contribute to the vibe in a nice way. Good job!
Awesome game! The graphics, gameplay, sound and style really complemented each other bringing me back to where games where simpler. Nicely done!
Pretty cool! Honestly it gives me some "rage game" vibes in a good way (it reminds me of I Wanna Be the Guy)
It is very fun !! Congarts for making it in 48h ! i love the wizard and monsters sprites !^^

I didn't figure out the last room but I had a great time. The flying mechanic is niice reminds me of flappy bird! lol
This was fun! The level design really stood out. There was a nice progression to the challenges, and fun variations on the different combination of obstacles. I found the difficulty to be just right. Oh, and the giants were awesome!
Great vibe, loved the combination of the colors, pixels and smooth hoovering text, great aesthetic. Flying feels fun!
what a very weird little platform game, completely my kind of game... the atmosphere is fascinating and we are surprised throughout the adventure. The minimalist graphics add to the overall look. I only want to play the sequel. Well done. and also the difficulty is well balanced, the checkpoints are really well placed along the stage.
@recursiveanomaly will definitely add a timer for that. Thanks for playing
@themaxi7 thank you so much!
@cloistered thank you! and he's not guy it is a "#%&"#$%
@mikropiru dismounting the dino to the side was meant to be used for puzzling but time got me. Thank you for playing!
@daandruff thank you for playing!
@dinoraz please don't rage, it's to enjoy. Thanks
@roroto-sic and the wizard loves you! Thank you
@borabee flappy lives inside all of us. Thank you
@vidarn the giants thank you for playing!
@paul-maaswinkel thank you for your words!
@piero-pbes-studio the sequel is coming! Glad you enjoyed it!
Good game! I beat it. Felt just like playing atari. Things get a bit glitchy if you try to break things (like taking the dragon to earlier areas he shouldn't be at). But that's to be expected. Good gamefeel, good difficulty, good all around. Sometimes the music would change after dying, not sure why. Both music tracks were good though. The sound overall was good too. Art was good for what it was going for. Overall quite liked it.
