LD45 — Start with nothing

World Collector by Joe Williamson 2019-10-27T09:42:32Z

Really amazing job! I'm also one of those people who tried to jump using space at times (perhaps because of playing other jam games that used that) but it wasn't a big thing. Everything else I loved. I also liked the change in audio when zooming out that Keith mentioned and think it added to the polished feel of the game. And the whole idea of world building was really nice and worked well, and being able to play in both zoom modes was a nice touch, making things again feel even more polished. All in all, a very solid and absolutely incredible effort.

I was one of the people for whom everything worked like a charm on macOS. I played this on Mojave using full screen (just in case that helps narrow down the problem).

L.D. Noire by karlipoppins 2019-10-26T11:57:25Z

Funniest of all the LD45 games I've played so far! The idea, style and that humor brought back many memories of the adventure games I played as a kid. Also loved the music as it really fit the mood.

incandescence by drtizzle 2019-10-26T11:30:39Z

I simply love the mood! The graphics and music play really well together and make this an enjoyable experience. At times I wished I could move faster but I think that could've also ruined the mood a bit. I'm not sure how well this hit the theme but I also didn't really care while playing. :-)

Claimbeer by neowhoru 2019-10-22T17:24:07Z

Nice game with some fancy retro vibes both graphically and in the sound department! I also liked collecting different items to get past certain spots, giving it a little adventure game like spice. I especially liked the FOV with candle light as at some points you just had to jump into darkness to see what the light would reveal. :-) With my skills I would've dearly needed more lives, though. :-D

Lurking in the shadows by Shad 2019-10-22T17:34:22Z

I love the graphics and the sounds and the atmosphere in general! Also the idea is just brilliant in all its simplicity. As others have already said the start seems a bit slow - especially when starting from scratch the 10th time because of lacking skills - but then again, a faster tempo might ruin the atmosphere a bit. I sometimes had trouble aiming the revive skill/spell which caused my horde dying and a restart which was slightly frustating. But all in all, a beautiful and nice game!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Sakura Shrine by arzi 2022-04-07T06:14:46Z

Looks and sounds very, very good! I also liked the game mechanic although I got a bit frustrated at first as I didn't seem to find any "normal" petals to light up the lanters etc. :-D But I got through the whole game on the second attempt so it definitely wasn't too hard after all.

As the description says, perhaps a rather loose interpretation of the theme, but I could see the connection there, and it's a very minor thing with a game this polished. Great work!

Rockmageddon by hunttis 2022-04-05T06:08:24Z

Thank you for the kind comments, everyone! And yes, the rate at which the meteors/asteroids arrive spikes up pretty soon and makes things perhaps a bit too difficult too fast. We had a problem of having the game too easy for quite a while and made a change to the difficulty quite late in development, and I think it should be adjusted a notch back in the old direction.

Crab Battle by cottontshirtz 2022-04-14T07:26:17Z

Simple, yet well done, and especially fitting to the theme (it's hard to stay alive for long)! I love the ending animation, and the simple sounds are funny.

Don't Melt by maxr00 2022-04-04T12:24:34Z

This was fun! At first I perhaps struggled a bit with the jump and dash controls but got the hang of those soon, especially using wall jumps to my benefit. The sun makes for quite an original enemy, as it hangs around rather close but gives way rather nicely, so there's this feeling of threat always present but it's not too much. The soundtrack also adds to that, although it gets repetitive quite fast.

The simple graphics work, and there were absolutely no issues with the controls or anything else. Solid work.

Ghost In The Washing Machine by foxxy 2022-04-09T09:09:33Z

I really liked the humour! And the implementation was pretty solid all around. I noticed how I'm used to strafing instead of rotating with the A & D keys but got around that pretty soon... All in all, pretty amazing stuff in 72 hours!

[HTML5/WebGL] Be the Inevitable by leorid 2022-04-06T12:23:22Z

This was fun, it's been quite some time since I've played a top-down shooter. :-)

For me, the controls were a bit problematic at times but I believe it was mostly due to my mouse cursor going out of the play area somewhat often which prevented me from shooting. Also, the health bar and chosen weapon indicator are quite big and can sometimes hide an enemy in the left upper corner.

But these are small things. :-) I think the music was pretty intense which fit the game nicely. And the recoil effect was a nice touch!

You are Quitting by BrettSchiff 2022-04-06T09:53:59Z

Simple, yet very funny! And yes, kind of addictive...

It's nice to see these kind of games where it seems much – if not most – of the development time went into the dialogue. (Not mocking the implementation here but complimenting the dialogue. :-D)

The Arcane Artist by Savolae 2022-04-06T10:16:08Z

A very nice idea and solid implementation! The mechanic is so interesting that it would be really cool to have time and consider one's actions a bit but naturally running around in sheer panic trying to come up with any possible spell fits the theme better. :-D

Bomb Threat by Lychee 2022-04-19T14:50:59Z

Agree on what some others have wrote, I mostly stumbled with aligning the lines with the stop button... A really fun idea and good implementation, and I think if you have the time and energy afterwards to add some puzzles it may improve the replayability and add good variation. Nice work.

A Simple Game of Clock Themed Pinball by LazyAlarm 2022-04-14T15:10:37Z

I couldn't get the game to run in the browser, unfortunately. Chrome (on macOS) started loading it but hanged for a while before giving a "webGL context lost" error, Safari started the game but the clock and everything inside it was black. (So didn't rate either, naturally.)

Chess? by dreamscale 2022-04-07T08:25:22Z

Very clever and polished game! It was a bit confusing at first but reading the instructions helped. :-D

It became very clear there are several factors to consider in one's strategy, e.g. balancing between losing one's pieces vs. the material losses when letting enemy pieces survive, optimizing the moving patterns to avoid friendly collisions, trying to gain additional power to pieces vs. making quick sacrifices to weaken enemy pieces etc.

All in all, solid implementation and very interesting and challenging strategy angle.

Foundations by 0x746564 2022-04-15T11:36:51Z

Perhaps not the most innovative take on the theme or the most original idea, but for me there's a lot of replayability value exactly because card games like these are classics and really addictive. There were couple of times when the selected card lost "focus" all of a sudden (which may have been caused by my clumsy fingers on a laptop touchpad, mind you) but nothing big, and the game logic etc. worked flawlessly. All in all, nice game!

Final countdown by Lamamour 2022-04-19T14:39:21Z

This was fun to play! I liked pretty much everything about this, especially the nice graphics. The title screen was already looking great, loved it!

Life - Delaying Death by Itzemii 2022-04-09T07:12:40Z

Nice and actually rather profound take on the theme. Also, the art is really pretty! I wasn't sure about some of the symbols at first but quickly learned them and they mostly made sense right away.

The idea is simple, of course, and to be honest I don't think it offers _that_ much replayability (for me). But I did enjoy the time I played it, and everything worked without glitches. :-)

RIITA by wobs 2022-04-15T11:22:44Z

This is amazing! I don't really like Guitar Hero etc. that much but this was pretty fun to play, and I really enjoyed the 3D graphics and the music, and especially the illustrations! Stellar job!

Happy Piggy Farm by TomatoOmelet 2022-04-04T08:56:25Z

This was nice! :) At least for me the idea is original and even though the goal is very simple, it takes a bit of effort to make it through each day. So a nice arcade-y game.

I got to the end on my first try, though, so either I got lucky it isn't that challenging. But it was still nice. I don't honestly think there's much replay value after that, though...

I also think it was a nice take on the theme, although the inevitability didn't come through that well until the very end.

All in all, I really liked the basic idea of balancing between the two extremes.

Sinking Ship by Ines Brezavscek 2022-04-09T08:50:33Z

Pretty simple game mechanic, but fits the theme perfectly. And looks very nice! Great work!

Glide by FloatingVertex 2022-04-09T06:50:12Z

A very nice take on the theme! I tested this on a laptop which is really not optimal to control to plane... But still, I got to glide for some time and felt it was rather relaxing, even with the inevitable demise waiting ahead.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

GHST-PRTCL by LoHii 2022-10-05T09:20:02Z

Pretty nice. It was really challenging for me, though, most probably because I'm not used to the control scheme. Once I started to do a bit better I got a flush of red ghosts assigned to me and there were only 2 on the screen, so that kind of pulled the rug from under me. :-D

I especially liked the soundscape with the effect in the beginning and the fitting music.

Btw, I tried playing the game once in full-screen mode on an ultra-wide monitor and that hid the combo line from the bottom, making things even more challenging to say the least...

Oracle of Colliding Realms by hunttis 2022-10-15T09:11:34Z

Thank you everyone for the kind comments!

@tinysalad and @bison-warlock, we totally agree with including the gems in the level "preview" also. And we tried to implement it, too, but couldn't get it working properly before we ran out of time. :-/ Thank you for the feedback!

The Temple of KnowlEGG by Carraka 2022-10-13T13:46:31Z

This is a nice entry! I really liked the graphics and the music, and the idea of queueing the powers gave it a sense of strategy also once I got to a level where I had more powers.

The controls seemed a bit unforgiving, though, which made the jumps a bit hard - especially with the speed power-up - and although there were 3 lives, it felt like dying on e.g. the third level on the spikes in the beginning already meant you were missing the timing and wouldn't reach the platforms in time later. In the submission build there were some glitches with the movement, i.e. I got stuck on some platforms, but I believe those were fixed for the bugfix build.

Anyway, this was a game that I enjoyed playing. A great effort!

Stella Brown and the Curse of the Grocery Witch by Iamsodarncool 2022-10-15T08:20:18Z

A nice game with stunning art and very fitting music! A nice intro and voice acting and all, that's a lot of stuff in 72 hours...

I'm kind of glad the monsters weren't that dangerous and couldn't kill you, although there wasn't really that much of a challenge there in any other form either. Timing the jumps was a bit hard on the 2-3 places where you it was important but with the game being so easy otherwise that didn't get annoying. And switching the music for the worlds helped once one learned the songs.

A really solid entry!

Out Of Order by TinyLittleStudio 2022-10-12T15:40:16Z

I really like the cute graphics — also continued on this page and in Itch. The tutorial is nice, although perhaps a bit redundant when you have to use the controls already to advance to the parts where it introduces them. :-)

As others have stated, the jumps can be rather challenging and need to be almost pixel-perfect, so at least in the beginning the gaps could perhaps be slightly smaller etc. Also, you could perhaps add a shortcut key for waiting a hundred years, but that's a really small thing.

Nice entry overall!

Cure Casimir by Bender Biber 2022-10-10T07:29:53Z

Looks really nice and cute! The controls feel a bit "off", making timing my jumps hard. But I played the HTML5 version, so it might be related to that. A nice entry overall, good job!

Super Auto Crusaders by Savolae 2022-10-05T09:05:45Z

I really liked this! The whole auto chess idea is nice, and the implementation is really solid. An impressive feat to make a game this polished in such a short time!

At first I found myself mostly on the losing end of the battles but then found a setup that worked for me (an army of multishot archers that Thomas also mentioned above) and after that I crushed my enemies, saw them driven before me, and heard the lamentations of.. well, never mind. Based on this I wonder how well the balancing between different unit types and upgrades works, but IMHO I would be surprised if you nailed that also in such a short time.

Simple Geometry by HKSpadez 2022-10-15T08:56:44Z

This looks really interesting and I would've loved to try this! I just don't happen to have a Windows machine, so couldn't — which of course isn't your fault in any way so this is not a blame. :-D So, unfortunately I can't really rate it but I did watch _icxon_'s playtest video and this looks amazing!

Btw, you could perhaps add the platform to the description to make it clearer?

Train Trader by FadrikAlexander 2022-10-12T15:12:00Z

There's definitely a lot of stuff in the game! In the beginning it felt like perhaps too much stuff, i.e. a short tutorial could've been nice — but I understand that adding that in also would've been a big additional thing for the jam.

I think the graphics, sounds and simple controls all make a nice, complete piece of work where all parts fit in nicely. Good job!

Fall Girl by civmaniac 2022-10-23T15:05:41Z

I unfortunately couldn't rate this until the deadline... But I now tried this, and boy, is this well done! The graphics are really pretty and the controls feel very solid. And the events are also all very good and just challenging enough. The only thing I could criticize in the slightest – and what others have already pointed out – is the rather loose connection to the theme. But that's a very small minus.

All in all, this feels really polished. Really stellar work!

Kairos Station Evac by parkuhrmd 2022-10-05T13:07:34Z

I absolutely love the concept here! It took me a minute to grasp the logic but after that I just had to complete the game in one session. (And I only noticed how you can see which terminal affects which doors etc. on level 7 by hovering on top of those... :-D)

The graphics and sounds are a bit crude but they fit the game well and make up a nice whole together. The controls worked, and it was nice using the terminals etc. was quite forgiving when it comes to positioning the character and didn't require you to stand in one particular pixel to use the machines.

I also witnessed the not-always-exact paths of the characters on replays but only occasionally and it didn't harm the experience much. The difficulty increased in just the right amount per level, making the last two or so levels challenging already. It's quite a feat you managed to make eight nicely-working levels in such a short time! A really good job overall!

Ayyy Leon's 10 Second Turmoil by Corrupt Spaghetti 2022-10-23T15:54:13Z

I unfortunately missed the rating deadline but tried this now, still. Funny entry! I think running a minigame every 10 seconds was a nice take on the theme. They're quite repetitive, though, as is the main game. Also, it's rather easy (even with a touchpad). But this worked nicely and had no technical issues whatsoever. Thanks!

Accelerato by stewthepoo 2022-10-10T07:20:06Z

Interesting take on the theme! The changing control scheme makes it quite challenging but luckily it's not too hectic (at least in the beginning) for one to grasp the new buttons again.

The graphics are impressive, especially considering the tight schedule of the jam! The mouse character looks really nice.

I had some trouble with the controls, though. I seemed to get stuck on objects sometimes or otherwise having small glitches with the character's movement. (I played the browser version.) With some polishing there playing could be more enjoyable still.

The Great Escape by amarokczukay 2022-10-23T15:24:18Z

I unfortunately missed the rating deadline – but tried this now, still. Funny and original idea, and clever take on the theme! I tried this with a touchpad and it was very challenging to say the least. :-D I think I'll have to try again with a mouse...

For Greater Good by BayLock 2022-10-12T15:51:28Z

Amazing graphics and animations! I also like the original and rather funny idea/theme. It does get a bit repetitive quite soon but I know creating lots of different kinds of levels is a real challenge in a jam.

Really solid work!

Dimension Rush by LunariiSXZ 2022-10-12T15:25:24Z

This was really enjoyable! (Note: I believe I played the post-jam version as I tried the Netlify one.)

The graphics and music are very simplistic but they work nicely, and the controls are smooth. Well, depending on the dimension one is in, of course... The music did start to annoy a bit near the end but I think that was only because it took me so long to finish. :-D

Nice work!

Just Right by VimMagic 2022-10-04T13:23:32Z

This was nice! The graphics and basic mechanic are simple but the score logic makes this very interesting. The randomness of it all also makes it pretty cruel, but IMHO in a funny way. :-D

Nice work! And congrats on your first LD game jam entry!

Loop Arena by LorandusBianchi 2022-10-15T09:09:18Z

Nice game with well-working controls and very fitting soundscape! At first I had a bit of trouble finding the checkpoint pillars but then things started rolling nicely. And I really liked the recorded "ghost" of the previous run once you reach a pillar!

Nice entry, good job!

LD54 — Limited Space

Fish 'n' Ships by hunttis 2023-10-08T10:27:17Z

@axlplosion, it's weird if you couldn't move there. You should be able to advance to those fish squares without a problem. But I can't tell if there's some issue there when the grid fills up with stuff — I don't think we got that far when testing the game ourselves. :-D

@dave-septian, actually your boats _should_ sink when attacking a pirate ship the second time (with that same ship). If a pirate rams to a ship, it's immediately gone, but taking initiative there pays off a bit.

Limited Ssssspace by Quoclon 2023-10-11T15:38:46Z

Simple but nice idea! Also worked well, and while I felt like it was perhaps a bit slow-moving at first, that changed when the space started to fill up with enemies.

I also liked having a choice between the two types of missiles which gave it a small strategic element. My only gripe is that I believe one can only make the choice with a mouse, while the snake is controlled on the keyboard — I actually crashed into the wall the first time I made the choice as I was just heading to a wall and then didn't get my hands on the arrow keys quickly enough after making a choice with a mouse. Of course I learned my lesson and kept my other hand on the keys from then on, but I think the selection could easily be done using the keys also.

Anyway, nice entry!

High Leaf Celestial by dxk2294 2023-10-08T09:26:53Z

I really, really liked this one. When I started the game I felt like I'd probably not play it for long as it looked like something that would take a lot of time getting into, but it really sucked me in so much that I just had to finish it. :-)

Feedback-wise I think Ferellia pretty much emptied the bank already — and I just wish I'd read their feedback while playing the game, as I didn't realize RMB worked for camera control also, so I completely missed that. :-D Now I feel kinda stupid, but I must say the game must be special since I finished it even though I thought I couldn't move the camera around (which was really painful)...

I agree with the others in that the balance between the characters could be fine-tuned. Then again, I love to discover and then use cowardly tactics in single-player games, and clearing the level with the sharpshooter as a lone long-distance sniper while the others just carried stuff back to home base felt satisfying. :-D

I also spent a lot of my inventory carrying junk back as I wasn't sure if those would help somehow. It may actually be a nice strategic angle that they don't, as then one should consider their path more carefully to prevent inventories from filling up with useless stuff. Another option would be that it would be used for e.g. creating ammo for the archer or something... Anyway, I understand the time constraints and how such polishing would take more time.

The graphics, sounds effects and music were all great and fit the whole nicely. I had the music playing all the time and it didn't get on my nerves at all even though I played for a long time, so that's saying something already.

All in all, stellar job and a really strong entry! Thank you!

Space Trucks by digital bacon 2023-10-08T11:07:26Z

This was fun! I have to agree with the others that the difficulty curve is a bit off and in the beginning it feels like there's no change at all, but I did play long enough for it to kick in and failed miserably in getting my warehouse empty. :-D

I think everything fits very nicely together; the pixel art, the sounds and the music. Really great atmosphere and feel!

Great job!

(From the credits screen I understood that the music and the sound FX were not original work, so I didn't give a score for the audio here, but if I misunderstood, I'll happily add a rating for that as well. :-) )

KosmoPod by Hakro 2023-10-15T17:42:35Z

I tried this out now also and played through several levels before reading the comments here. I thought the invisible walls were intentional, and felt like it wasn't very user-friendly but definitely made the game more challenging... It's great that they weren't an intentional thing. :-D

I liked the graphics and the gameplay in general, although I think (at least in the web version) I got double moves with one button press etc. So perhaps some small things still needing a bit ironing out, but I don't know if that's also a web build problem. Anyway, a nice and clever take on the theme!

If I Fits, I Sits! by cheesepencil 2023-10-15T17:11:28Z

A brilliant idea, and a perfect fit (pun intended) to the theme! It's amazing how complete a game you've created from such a simple idea! Great work!

Hardpoint by kankje 2023-10-08T07:22:05Z

A really solid entry! I think it fits the theme well, with the small arenas and Tetris-like inventory. :-) And it works well and feels like a proper game, having both action and some strategy (with the loadout tinkering).

At first the movement didn't feel very natural but that might of course be about my controlling skills also... And it started feeling better with some speed upgrades in the inventory. I still felt the movement could perhaps be polished a bit as I often felt pretty helpless under fire, with the dash perhaps not always working as I hoped. (I noticed there's a cooldown there and that's definitely ok.) Unless of course the intensity was intentional. :-)

The music was good but I think something a bit more aggressive could have worked even better.

All in all, a really good game, and pretty amazing work in just a couple of days!

Fish in hat by satacat 2023-10-08T07:45:49Z

I think this was a very innovative take on the theme and fit it well! The atmosphere was really fitting, e.g. the music worked really nicely with it all. Good job! :-)

Misplaced Tie by knexator 2023-10-15T17:19:48Z

Nice little game! For me it was mostly trial and error clicking around, and thus I didn't feel much accomplishment when I finished. But it was still nice to finish it!

I especially liked the graphics. As others have said, the clear aesthetics worked nicely, and I think a really colorful palette would have made it really restless and harder to see the objects etc. So a good choice with the style!

My grandma's stories by Aquillot 2023-10-08T10:20:41Z

I pretty much agree with the things already said here. I also liked the original take, even though the connection to the theme didn't feel that strong. And yes, it was sometimes a bit hard to understand what to do but through trial and error I managed to finish it. The levels weren't long so starting over wasn't much of a bummer if I didn't grasp the idea immediately.

The atmosphere worked well, with the beautiful music and sometimes emotionally strong scenes.

Find us if you can by catasha27 2023-10-08T07:35:56Z

That's a nice first entry! I really like the originality and I think you came up with a nice idea and implementation for a theme you weren't that enthusiastic about. :-)

SPICE LIMITED by LePeridot 2023-10-15T18:01:00Z

Beautiful graphics and nice (and clever) sounds! As others have said, it feels to destroy the island, so I just felt like leaving immediately — which means not playing the game much. :-/ I of course tried that approach, and wasn't surprised that you had prepared for that in the achievements. :-)

I still played it a bit further, cutting down forests and mountains, and the gameplay felt really smooth. Technically a really solid entry! Good job!

LD55 — Summoning

Alien Summoner by harusame 2024-04-28T15:51:48Z

This was a nice experience with some serious retro vibes! Everything worked well and the graphics, audio and gameplay fit together nicely. It was also challenging, with the laser cooldown time and the kaijus not offering much of a resistance against the choppers. So it felt evident I would lose, and I definitely didn't help my cause by flying deeper and deeper into the city, with suddenly being surrounded by what felt like a hundred choppers.

A nice entry. Great job!

Phoenix Delay by aeveis 2024-04-20T14:05:00Z

I liked the graphics and music a lot, and the general feel of the game. I also had some trouble figuring out what I should and should not hit, but I _believe_ I got the hang of it quite soon.

I was afraid this would be a flappy bird clone but I was pleasantly surprised by what it really was. In general, nice job!

Loitsumaali by vinzBad 2024-04-16T10:49:15Z

I first tried this on a desktop browser and it wasn't much fun. But on a phone it was a totally different story. It was fun, and I think just about the right length for finishing the game (in normal mode). Good job!

The Klent by sirJupitron 2024-04-17T14:58:36Z

This was pretty fun! I had some trouble with the controls at times, but not having to start over when I died was a nice and welcome surprise.

Dismounting the dino threw me to the side a bit which caused some unwanted effects, e.g. dropping off the ledge and to the screen below, but those weren't that bad. Then at some point I think I got stuck inside a wall or just the edge of the screen probably because of this and couldn't continue.

Anyway, I liked the retro style, and I think all parts of the game contribute to the vibe in a nice way. Good job!

Graveyard Shift: Skeleton Dad Simulator by mrVentures 2024-04-17T10:14:22Z

I loved the idea and the humor! The graphics are also really cool.

I had some trouble navigating in the house (vertical movement, as mentioned above), and there were some minor bugs – an adventurer not showing up, some texts over each other after failing the game – but nothing too big.

Nice effort!

Summongrel by James_7777 2024-04-18T12:12:34Z

I really liked this! I _did_ get annoyed with the controls/difficulty and stopped before finishing level 7, but I guess that's more about my nerves than the game.

Awesome work with the graphics and everything working so smoothly! I also liked the puzzles, and you had made plenty in such a short time. Really good entry!

Siela by Gnum_ 2024-04-28T15:39:43Z

I totally agree with the other reviewers, this game definitely has a solid atmosphere! The graphics fit it nicely also. The mechanics could be polished a bit (e.g. the soul marker jumped around a bit and the controls felt a bit off at times), and there's not much challenge. But all in all, a nice entry and good job in such a short time!

Butler Beckoned by Brandon McDonald 2024-04-28T16:21:00Z

Really interesting and cool entry! I loved the implementation, except for the issues other have listed above. After I had interrogated everyone else a couple of times, and again "froze" the game by talking again to Mr. Dactyl, I didn't feel like starting over properly so I just skipped to accusing everyone — and of course it didn't work without going through the interrogations... (Which I think is a good choice obviously but a bit annoying after a crash.)

Anyway, all in all, a great entry! Amazing job!

Summoning the bigger one by AlxJE 2024-04-17T11:35:03Z

I spent a good while just playing around, so it was definitely quite captivating. I didn't quite get what I was supposed to do (except for merging the boxes) in the beginning, and only realized there's more to it after checking the YouTube video out.

The controls etc. could probably be tweaked a bit still but I liked the idea, and you've made a lot in such a short time frame. Nice job!

Demon Lord Revenge by Fataljg 2024-04-24T11:41:04Z

This was quite fun! It got a bit challenging quite fast, but I was playing on the keyboard, and I wouldn't expect to play a jam game for hours anyway, so I think that's not a problem. It was somehow rather addictive even though I sucked at it. Nice job!

Get Away Your Pitchforks from My Oak! by Hammerer 2024-04-28T16:40:56Z

Really nice entry! The graphics were almost too pretty to believe it's a jam game! As others have wrote, some minor tuning of the mechanics might be nice; now I felt like I could stand in front of the tree and just spam the summon commands as fast as I could — but this definitely got harder later in the game, as I ran out of mana and had to think about where to summon my defenders more closely.

Anyway, great effort!

Escape from zoo by AFU 2024-04-28T16:48:18Z

Echoing what the others have said, i.e. I loved the background art and the music, but unfortunately had the same issues with the player disappearing and the looping screens. :-( I may have missed something or done something funny myself, of course. Anyway, the mood alone is so great I want to try again!

Super Pal Summoner! by Meepster 2024-04-17T14:42:36Z

A really nice and captivating game! At first it felt like I could just go on and on, but eventually I realized how the different target patterns make it harder to plan ahead etc.

It feels polished in every way, with really nice graphics and top-notch playability — even if it's simpler to reach that with a board/puzzle game like this than with a platformer or something like that, it's still great if the game feels fun. Great job!

A Following Wind by digitaliliad 2024-04-16T09:31:11Z

I loved the idea and the Caribbean vibes! Reminded me a bit about Pirates! which was probably my favourite game some decades ago...

At first I imagined it would be easier but the winds carrying out through the world after you'd summoned them made it more challenging, in a good way. And I think the number of ships increased in just the right pace, making it difficult after a while to steer the pilgrims away from the rocks and each other.

A solid entry!

Some Munnings by SoBad 2024-04-20T14:17:28Z

I absolutely loved this! I love good – and not-so-good – puns, and even though you might not get great points for theme, I hope the points you get for humor more than make up for that.

So, nice twist on the theme, and really solid delivery!

Thank you everyone for the kind comments and all feedback! Regarding the scope, it's indeed quite limited but we had less than two days to finish the whole thing (we only do this for the weekend) and we've had issues with a too ambitious scope earlier, so I'm quite happy we dropped some extra ideas we came up with while developing the game, and instead concentrated on polishing the essentials. But this could definitely be continued with some extra features and/or levels!

Sorry for not playing this early enough to score it (got the deadline wrong). :-/

Anyway, I quite liked this one. The graphics are really nice and work well, as do the simple controls. I also liked it that there wasn't a time limit but one just tries to improve their record time, so I could just try things out on my own pace.

End screen would've been nice, and sounds and/or music nice extra also, but I totally understand the time pressure. And this was a great achievement working solo. Nice entry!

Idle Badger by lectvs 2025-10-12T14:20:14Z

This was definitely the funniest game I've played so far this time! And it was so much more than it first seemed... at first I thought I'd be just clicking that one button for the whole time. :-D The sounds didn't work for me on the first try but started working when I tried the game again. A really funny entry!

ShroomBound by Tomssuli 2025-10-12T13:56:09Z

Oh, this has great atmosphere! Like the others have said, first time picking something up caught me off guard... :-D The logic was a bit unclear, i.e. why I kept dying even though I managed to avoid the creatures. But perhaps I got it now from the other comments. Anyway, I especially enjoyed the music that was a big part of the atmosphere, and having a story behind the game definitely adds to its charm. Good job!

Familiar of Cards by Mynespyro 2025-10-25T10:58:56Z

Sorry for not playing this early enough to score it (got the deadline wrong). :-/

Interesting take on the theme! I liked playing it for several times, and it brought back memories from some old RPG games of my youth. Reading the other comments I realize I didn't really get the game logic that well, so I kept running out of cards before completing many tasks. So I could have used some instructions.

All in all, a nice entry!

For the Herd! by Mascoll 2025-10-12T14:07:51Z

Not only did we have the same idea, we were also a team of six. :-D I really liked the graphics, especially the menu art and the smooth animation of the gameplay, topped by those shadows. I also enjoyed the music and (somewhat funny) sounds a lot. The sheep escaping the circle was slightly annoying but I wasn't doing that good of a job anyway so can't really blame that. :-D The sheep radar on the screen edges was a nice touch! Great entry!

Bugs to catch by birofio 2025-10-12T13:43:51Z

Nice first entry! Perhaps not the most ambitious game I've seen this time but I think it's really great you went with a clear, limited scope and made it work! Sometimes people try to take on more than they can chew in such a short time and then the result is hurried and it shows. This was balanced in that sense, and had gameplay, graphics, music and sounds in place!
