LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Oracle of Colliding Realms by hunttis 2022-10-10T12:14:33Z

The controls feel a bit heavy and slow. I would also have liked to interact with the incoming layer before they fully replace the current layer to add a bit more complexity to the platforming. Otherwise, it's a cool concept and has a cute artstyle.

10 Second Farm by Quoclon 2022-10-13T09:40:05Z

Interesting concept and well executed. If I had to criticise I would say the user interface is a bit difficult to read / see. I would also recommend ending the timer if you selected all animals to not have idle time as you quickly learn to select them way faster than the ten seconds in the beginning. Other than that it is a solid jam submission. Good work!

Out Of Order by TinyLittleStudio 2022-10-10T11:06:19Z

Thank you all so far for your valuable feedback! To address a few issues; It is possible to "burn time" without the need to move by holding down the space bar. The double jump is not an intended feature and only possible due to the bug that the player can jump off the (partly invisible) dialogue boxes. Otherwise, I appreciate the feedback and will try to improve the level design of my submissions in the future!

Winding Woods by tetrapteryx 2022-10-11T10:48:38Z

I can only emphasise on what others have already said. The movement of the critter is too random to really know what to do next. It also took a bit time to figure out the cards (which you usually not had due to the critter dying so quickly). I also would have liked some more feedback on the placement of the cards. Sometimes it felt like nothing happened. Otherwise the visuals are beautiful and it is an interesting concept. Good work!

@tetrapteryx You said it yourself. You have to "plan out a safe movement sequence quickly enough". You need to add in the time for the user to register that something has changed and the time for the motion to react. You as the developer probably tested it so many times and understand the concept well enough to do that motion quick enough. Personally I would probably add a short waiting period before the movement or indicate a short path instead of only the next move. There is simply not enough time to understand all rules instantly and repeating failures add up to a feeling of inconsistency when you do not understand why you failed. Conveying knowledge simply with the given circumstances is difficult. You already do a good job. It just feels a bit random due to the short time span you have to aquire all the required knowledge/ rules. Hope that helps!

110% by SciDev 2022-10-11T10:44:23Z

The concept is fairly simple and well executed. Not much to add onto that besides a bit variety maybe. Despite the rather basic visuals it feels very smooth and polished. If I had to criticise I would have only made some changes to the visuals with a "handdrawn/sketch" look. Other than that it is a well executed jam submission! Good work!

The Internship by MrBamboo 2022-10-10T14:06:31Z

Once you know what to do it becomes a bit repetitive, especially for five minutes. Sometimes the "boss" just ran into a corner and stood there. That made it too easy to find him. A bit more interaction with the environment could have been interesting (as others have mentioned). The movement feels a bit too slow for my taste. Otherwise the game looks fantastic for a jam submission and plays well without any major issues. Good work!

10 seconds Delirium by Furano 2022-10-10T12:23:59Z

I went in blind (without reading instructions, because that's what programmers do) and did not expect it to turn into a "shoot em up" kind of game. One thing that was a bit annoying, after each "yin-and-yang" the cursor lost focus of the screen (but i just saw you are already aware of that). As others have also already mentioned it might get a bit repetitive, but that is just nitpicking. Other than that there is really nothing to complain for a jam submission. I especially liked the art style. Good work!

Potion Commotion by hulien22 2022-10-11T14:22:03Z

Honestly this is a very good submission. The visuals look really good and I personally love the handdrawn aesthetics. The concept itself is fairly simple yet very well executed. If I had to criticise I would say the notes rotating makes it a bit difficult to read them. Also when trying to put something into a bottle the ingredient moves the bottle. But that is just nitpicking. Well done!

Treasure Tactics by Martta 2022-10-11T10:58:09Z

It is a good concept and well executed. Only the explanations of the "how to play" are a bit confusing. The visuals are also a bit hard on the eyes with the plain tiles compared to the detailed ships. Otherwise, it is a good jam submission. Well done!

Mystic Blades by Vulpez 2022-10-10T12:30:16Z

It's a simple concept. The movement controls (not the attack controls) felt a bit slow. Also without reading the "how to play" it takes a bit too much time to figure out which "element" defeats which "enemy" and enemies tend do build up fairly quick. Other than that it's a neat concept an a fairly well executed one on top. It's fairly clean for a jam submission. Good work!

Short Fuse by Orionhart 2022-10-13T09:54:13Z

There is really not much to say that others did not already mention. The game looks beautiful but the gameplay feels a bit off. The game does not explain itself very well and everything just seems a bit confusing. But it does have a lot of potential. Good job!

Sneaky's adventure by Vladimir ins 2022-10-13T09:34:16Z

Honestly it is an interesting concept but i am kind of missing a goal/ reason to continue. The movement also feels extremely heavy/ slow. Other than that it is a neat jam submission. Good job!

Square in 10 seconds or less by Caresle 2022-10-13T09:48:26Z

As others have mentioned; the controls scheme is a bit unusual. The controls are also fairly slow. The visuals are nothing special but I would have liked a bit more visual representation of what is dangerous and what is not. Other than that it is a solid little platformer. Good job!

10 Seconds to Death by Buni 2022-10-11T14:12:29Z

It's a basic concept but well executed for the short time period. It is lacking a bit of feedback when being hit or when hitting enemies. The visuals are fine for a jam submission and I like the many different types of enemies. I especially like the look of the magician. A well executed concept. Good job!

Not Late, Or Early by ShaunShepherd 2022-10-13T09:44:14Z

As others have already mentioned the game does not explain itself too well. It took me a short while to understand what to actually do and then I encountered the bug with the conveyor belt not giving me a new box. But some mistakes are to be expected in a jam submission. The idea is neat and i like the visuals a lot. It is a solid project. Good work!
