That's a bit of an acid trip. Interesting idea/take, especially jumping into a doom-esque shooter. Also, i think i found a bug because i was able to clip through the walls outside of the area where the heads appeared at.

nullval 2022-10-03 20:28

really trippy and fun, also loved the giant floating head, it really caught my eye!

furano 2022-10-03 20:29

@eerongal Thanks ! Yep I saw it too on my very last testing playtrough... Well I'll try to fix it tomorrow, I'm done for the day...

arfilish 2022-10-03 20:34

Oh hell, i really like this one! That's really fun to play and it feels exciting!

magus77 2022-10-03 20:55

daaang that is so counter-intuative. love the sounds and controls and how smooth it feels. but... a NUKE? whyyyyy :-) loved this one, and rated it . Graphics are awesome

furano 2022-10-03 21:02

@magus77 a what ? Nuke ☢️??! We never thought that the patient going batshit crazy could be interpreted as such... 😶

But I can definitly see where you come from with our team artist @aune having a really weird green fetichism when making characters.... 😅

Thanks for the feedbacks!

magus77 2022-10-03 21:50

i could've sworn i saw a nuke on the walls in my dreams, but maybe that's just my mind playing tricks :p

sirdorius 2022-10-03 22:39

Neat idea and very trippy! The mouse was way too sensitive in the shooter sections

furano 2022-10-04 05:41

@sirdorius thanks! You can set the sensitivity in the option menu. Was it still too sensitive at the lowest setting?

aune 2022-10-04 09:04

Hey :coffee: Thank you for your feedback @nullval @magus77 @eerongal @arfilish @sirdorius ! I tried to fix the collider and the window mesh this morning (I screwed up my last commit). I hope it will be better.

I'll just add one more note **for the nerdy stuff:** - **Meshes** are made with [Blender](https://www.blender.org/) - **FX** animations are also made with Blender using grease pencil - **Music** and most sounds are made with the organelle synth running [ORAC2](https://patchstorage.com/orac-2-0-for-organelle/)

omphh 2022-10-04 14:38

Really fun to play and good use of the theme! Shooting part had quite a high mouse sensitivity but still fun to play!! Good job :)

save-sloth-studios 2022-10-04 14:49

Such a weird mix of...everything! Really unique game, I've never seen anything like it! It has some really special, great looking visuals!

enad96 2022-10-04 14:51

Well that got me by surprise, thought it was gonna be a quirky puzzle game haha. Art is fantastic too

furano 2022-10-04 14:57

Thanks for playing everyone!

@enad96 yeah that was kind of the goal in all of our descriptions of the game... 😇

velvetlobster 2022-10-04 15:12

I saw this during the jam time and it was already one of my favorites in style. Animations are satisfying to look.

velvetlobster 2022-10-04 15:15

I died trying to take a screenshot of the FPS session lolol. the sounds are also really good. Its fun and kinda surprising when we get to kill our inner green demons in the FPS. I played in a macbook, it was a bit hard to control the camera with the touchpad but I had a good time anyway. this is an amazing entry folks

velvetlobster 2022-10-04 15:16

btw was that his brain he is holding?

Captura de Tela 2022-10-04 às 12.16.26.png

eeperdeheap 2022-10-04 15:42

Suprisingly hard to put the yin and yang together. Getting into the mind and 3d shooting was funny.

sirdorius 2022-10-04 17:49

@furano I tried the lowest sensitivity. It's better but I would not call it comfortable

furano 2022-10-04 18:31

@sirdorius thanks for trying ! I'll change the setting scale and reduce the default sensibility then.

furano 2022-10-04 18:35

@velvetlobster thanks for the nice words !

Not really : he is holding his gun. But it's not your tread-of-the-mill gun, it's a brain-gun ! Don't ask, I have no idea why the heck it is like that ! You'll have to ask the artist @aune. You can see it better in the picture below: brain-gun.png

velvetlobster 2022-10-04 18:47

wow mindblown here loved the gun but did not realize that was the gun in there

mvasko2 2022-10-04 19:54

Nice game with great graphics.

Mixing the two game-modes in this way was a pretty clever idea - one minigame to replenish health, the other one to lose it; very yin-yang!

However, I must admit that the gameplay got a bit boring for me after a while, I think it needs something more to spice it up, I just don't know what.

Great job overall, this was a very nice and polished experience.

erlioniel 2022-10-04 20:01

Hey there! It's an interesting one and was funny to play. However it wasn't clear is there any chance to really win? I went through 5-6 cycles and still nothing :sob:

furano 2022-10-04 20:04

@erlioniel no sorry you can't win, just increase your score... We didn't have time to develop an ending :/

erlioniel 2022-10-04 20:11

@furano it's fine :D Time is really a limit in jams, we also skipped a lot of parts and ideas we were about to develop initially

dodidouda 2022-10-04 20:26

Omg the first time I got into the shooting phase really scared me haha. Managed to score 670 despite sucking at the game 😂. Fun and super weird, but in a good way! Congrats!

for-science 2022-10-05 07:15

Weird and silly concept. I like it!

I did encounter several bugs though: I tried playing with gamepad (XB360) and found that the vertical controls for the yin yang sections are inverted. During the shooing sections, the right stick only turned my head at an imperceptible speed. I finally switched to keyboard controls, and eventually clipped through the walls into the eternal void...

Those bugs should all be quick fixes though. Overall, I had fun.

furano 2022-10-05 07:51

@for-science Well, we might have skipped proper gamepad testing... :no_mouth:

Will be fixed this evening, thanks for reporting them ! And thnaks for playing our game !

aune 2022-10-05 09:18

@omphh @enad96 @dodidouda @for-science @eeperdeheap @erlioniel @mvasko2 @save-sloth-studios @velvetlobster

Hey thanks a lot for your feedback :yellow_heart:, sorry for the wall collider...

@velvetlobster yeah the encephalo-gun... Drawing this gun part from this perspective was a bit painful and as @furano doesn't give me limits about weird ideas... Put a brain sounded a good alternative for this. :grimacing:

eugenik 2022-10-05 10:58

The yin and yang in the logo and the word "Delirium" caught my attention.

Interesting graphics, reminds me of some old games like the Psychonauts. Very cool.

And I VERY MUCH enjoyed shooting a bunch of Freuds in the face, as I am a long time Jungian, as you can tell by my pic, very deeply invested in Jungian psychology :D Cool game overall. 5/5

btw the sofa should be facing away in Freudian therapy. The client should not see the psychologist.

puyo 2022-10-05 11:02

Wow, switching between two completely different games in one was a good way to implement the theme. My favourite game here so far. Love the trippy billboard+3D graphics in the shooter section. The yin yang connection game broke my brain when they started on the wrong side.

eugenik 2022-10-05 11:04

p.s. had this meme in mind right after starting the game :D

285227269_5206281529492571_9065426550452557345_n.png

finntastico 2022-10-05 12:36

Haha oh my lord. The first time I needed to shoot some Freuds I was so confused, caught me by suprise  Doesn't happen often in LDjam that you basically get 2 games in one. For a meditation it felt really hectic lol. Good job!

bigwhiteshogun 2022-10-05 14:04

You know what those guys reminded me of? Melons. Sadly on all three playthroughs sooner or later I got somehow out of bounds even though I tried my hardes to not get close to the walls. When the game later becomes more intense it so so much fun I kept forgetting that. Over then that one bug I really enjoyed playing it, good sounds and feedback (something I deeply miss in my game) reminded me of how important those are to the entire experience. Great game :)

furano 2022-10-05 19:07

@eugenik indeed, my bad ! I switched the couch in in the 3D scene... It'll be harder for the 2D art however.... Glad you enjoyed shoting *Sigmund* as much as we do ahah

@puyo thanks a lot :heart_eyes:

@bigwhiteshogun or juicy :watermelon: ? Anyway that **bug is finaly fixed** 🎉 ! No more out-of-bound adventures for y'all ! Thanks for reporting it

vidarn 2022-10-05 19:17

Haha, this was... weird..?!

But well made and really fun! Great job on making a unique and memorable experience. I loved the art, especially the animation of the floating heads. The way they looked 3d and 2d at the same time was very cool to me. Also, I kind of want that synth now!

furano 2022-10-05 19:23

@vidarn That Synth is a true monster ! @Aune is definitly in love with it... Even I was able to make something ok*ish* just by pressing a few buttons, truly impressive.

It is quite expensive tho :/

arktas 2022-10-05 20:07

IS the game going harder with time? I don't figure out and was alway full of brain life :). Well done and keep coding !

javasaurus 2022-10-05 20:26

This is a really nice casual game! It goes on forever but it honestly never got really boring. The focus is clearly on the atmosphere and the graphics do reflect this. Very nice entry, was a pleasure to play ! Well done !

furano 2022-10-05 20:30

@arktas It is, but the dificulty gets capped after a while. So if you are not too bad at that type of game it's easy to just stay alive forever. Adding differents levels and a ending would have been awesome but clearly didn't fit within the jam timeframe...

digitaldude555 2022-10-05 20:39

Wow the art is so nice, really like it. Like the animations too and the sound of the gun. Really fun to play, like the minigame and the shooting parts. I do feel like the game could use an ending though.

neisha 2022-10-06 12:36

Intristing concept! Somehow on my second try I managed to break the game, because neither did the enemies move nor was I able to defeat them :D But anyway very unique take on the theme. I like it! Good work!

sterco-raro 2022-10-06 13:41

Wonderful game! I've played it for at least 20 minutes non-stop  cool theme handling and very well executed idea. Loved the graphics in both scenes and the fact that you're constantly switching between a calm, relaxing minigame and a doom-like shooter

krakadushka 2022-10-06 14:59

Wooooooow, it is so cooool! Graphics, techical implementation, audio and puzzle - this is awesome! I really love it) I think, it would be really cool if you will add more narrative and non-endless mode) I'll be waiting for it) Nice work!

faust-mi 2022-10-06 17:19

Trippy and fun game!

diego-escalante 2022-10-06 23:26

Fun idea on the theme! I like the opposing gameplay and how one side affects the other. The 3D environment is really cool. I like that style. A super minor issue I had is that one time the yang (the dark one?) appeared all the way to the left (or maybe I pushed it there??) which meant that I couldn't place ying in the right spot to connect them.

I'd love to see this expanded on with more variety. I found the loop to be kind of easy over time and I had to let myself die to see the end of the game. Great work on this game!

Screenshot 2022-10-06 172110.png

furano 2022-10-07 07:31

Thank you for the feedbacks everyone!

@digitaldude555 @krakadushka @diego-escalante yes definitly! We were not able to because "game jam", but would have live to add a narrative progression + some levels. Someone also suggested making the calm portion evolve depending on what you did in the shooter session, which I find awesome too!

@neisha that's a really weird bug... We never saw it yet and you're the first one to report it. I'll look into it! Thanks for letting me know!

krakadushka 2022-10-07 09:33

@furano good news, good luck! :)

nardandas 2022-10-07 17:01

Was there a win state? I felt the things the therapist were saying were a bit lost on me as I focused to make the yin and yang symbols meet. I really liked the control scheme on those things. The room where you fought the heads was a bit cramped for a shooter room. I feel like it'd be a little nicer gameplay-wise with a bit more space.

etrealjunior 2022-10-07 17:45

Congrats on the game, I love this kind of underground art style, I'm really bad at these FPS games lol, it was really cool and fun, good references and it's very challenging, a big hug.

ksimaster 2022-10-07 20:52

Interesting game! I like that in each of your projects you try to do the impossible! Expand the perception of this world! Great!

simplepotential 2022-10-07 22:26

Okay my score really sucked but I really liked this idea. I wasn't expecting it to jump into the FPS mode but since it was short I didn't mind it. Nice job

otterfaelure 2022-10-08 12:20

I eventually stopped and got 6980. Noice.

That was fun.

I didn't realize how much pent-up frustration university gave me over Freud and so the therapy session of shooting "Freud" in the face was bizarrely relaxing.

The only critique I really have is it could have been nice to have an ending, or serialized appointments. Ohhhh a series of bad therapists could be destroyed. MUAHAHAHA... I mean *coughs*.

Thanks for the game. :D

sipfindel 2022-10-08 12:33

More LudumDare boomershooters!! I loved it. It felt like a real therapy. Shooting your inner Freud to his face. But other that that: fun gameplay, the puzzle was good the shooting felt great. Good game

furano 2022-10-08 13:40

@nardandas @otterfaelure I definitly agree with you, having some sort of story on multiple level, or even better having a narrative in 2D being influenced by the shooting in 3D would have been awesome. But we ran out of time sadly. Thanks for your feedbacks!

@ksimaster thanks a lot!! I'm really happy to see that you enjoyed our game. Stay tuned for the next ludum then ;) I'll check your game which look really fun whenever I get back on near computer

@otterfaelure @sipfindel I know right?? I never knew it would be so satisfying before doing that game ahah  Thanks for your feedbacks

jackaljk 2022-10-08 14:23

Gorgeous and fun! The yin and yang part was super tricky and I loved the transition and contrast with the following FPS part. It gets a bit ripetitive but remains fun, it's crazy you were able to put together basically two different games, both very polished. Great job!

kitkii 2022-10-08 19:01

10sec.png

So I really thought the idea was cool and enjoyed both aspects of the doom type game and the puzzle match yinyang part. The only thing I had was the scream before the shooter section seemed too loud compared to the rest of the game and felt jarring at times but other than that it was really fun to play. I felt like because you regained health with the yinyang part I never felt like it was difficult though. I gave up after getting 30000 because I felt like I had experienced as much as I could (It was a good experience though). Perhaps a higher difficulty scaling unless I was under a threshold just before it ramped up?

zachary-shah 2022-10-08 22:03

Graphics are really great, along with sound. Gun feels really satisfying and all the effects are good. The core of this game is excellent; I don't have anything wrong with the fundamentals. I do feel it gets a tad repetitive, the difficulty curve might be a little low. Maybe if parts of the room catch on fire later in the game-- I don't know but something to fuel a new playstyle. great potential for a post jam, and great submission now!

furano 2022-10-10 07:13

Thanks everyone for playing and for leaving quality feedbacks. It mean a lot to us and helps us improves !

@jackaljk I know, the yin-yang looks dead simple but it's surprisingly messing up with the brain because of the controls... We know for the repetitivness, would have love to improve this by adding levels of some kind but we ran out of time.

@kitkii no the difficulty is currently caped after a while. Which in insight is a mistake, people should have died whatever happens. It just that we never though people would play our h'game for more than 5 minutes ahah 😅

@zachary-shah thanks! A lot of dev time went on making them feel good with a lots of feedbacks and Fxs. Glad it paid of! The downside is that indeed we ran out of time to make proper levels. But you can see my other comments for ideas to what we could to to make it less repetitive if you are interested.

tinylittlestudio 2022-10-10 12:23

I went in blind (without reading instructions, because that's what programmers do) and did not expect it to turn into a "shoot em up" kind of game. One thing that was a bit annoying, after each "yin-and-yang" the cursor lost focus of the screen (but i just saw you are already aware of that). As others have also already mentioned it might get a bit repetitive, but that is just nitpicking. Other than that there is really nothing to complain for a jam submission. I especially liked the art style. Good work!

gonzalol 2022-10-10 12:27

Hahaha, great entry. I had a good time playing. Some thoughts: - Shooting old doctor Freud on the face was a life-long dream of mine. So that's a point - The yin and yang are way harder to control that it seems - I don't really understand the change between games. It's every 10 seconds?

greenphox 2022-10-10 14:21

That game is really interesting. Simple mecahnics, simple gameplay, but very deep gameplay. It was really interesting becoming crazy every 10 seconds, it really made me think. I also loved how the thereapy actually helps you when the crisis happens. Really simple and deep. Well done!

durkagames 2022-10-10 21:05

It was hard to understand the story, before we understood there's not a story :) Maybe, should add some progress or increasing complexity? Upset the fact that it is impossible to shoot from a weapon from a far. Love the graphics, especially the brain-sliders in the settings. Thank you for the GitHub repository, well done!

blue-pin-studio 2022-10-12 06:51

Great entry! Unfortunately i wasn't able to read any of the therapy stuff because i was busy with the yin-yang. I found that the floating heads got stuck a lot behind objects and the sound effects stacked and amplified themselves. Other than those minor issues, the game was fun and overall it seems like a lot of stuff crammed in such a short dev-period! Good work

stopped.PNG

enderswype 2022-10-12 13:28

nice game, idk if there's a way to win, but i lost on purpose to see the ending, seemed a little too easy but boi oh boi do i know balancing is hard !!! GG

ehon 2022-10-12 22:17

Yoo, I saved this game to play it later and finally got to trying it out and...it's soo cool! I was quite surprised seeing the boomer shooter part, it was also surprisingly well-made for a game jam. The theme interpretations is also unique. 5/5!

miltonnh25 2022-10-15 00:52

Good job with the game. I liked the alternating between the two different sections and how you would get health in the first one to survive the second one. It would have been cool to see a bit more variety or scaling difficulty as the game progressed. the art style worked well and looked nice. Overall nicely done.

f1krazy 2022-10-16 10:45

This is very fun! The graphics are great for a jam game, the therapist's random lines are very funny, there's lots of polish, and I love the idea of the first minigame giving you extra lives to use in the second minigame. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviews in that this is too easy. The shooting minigame simply doesn't last long enough for you to lose more than two lives, and you can easily gain those back again in the yin/yang minigame, so the only way to lose is on purpose. I'm not sure how you'd address this, though - maybe have the yin/yang minigame replenish your ammunition instead of giving you extra lives? I'll repeat, though: this is a great game, and the difficulty is the only thing holding it back. Good job!

crocidb 2022-10-18 11:21

I love the FPS mode! Graphics are really good too!

unidaystudio 2022-10-18 19:08

Hi! Guilherme here and I know that you have plenity of feedbacks already, but your game is one of the ones that I've kept opened in a chrome tab since during the event to play it later. And today was finally the time to do it!

First things first, what really catched my eyes on this game was the visual aspect of it! I saw you in your posts during the jam event and that's what made me decide to give it a try. "Shadeless" 3D graphics with hand painted textures is not something that everyone can do well and you'hve definitely done it. I have so many questions on that! (if you don't mind) ahah. But I'd love to hear any tips and tricks that you may find useful to share regarding the art of your game. It is really impressive. I likes how you mixed sprites and 3D together. Took me a while to realize that things like the chair were 2d sprites. Good!

I don't even need to say regarding the user feedbacks. I was reading your feed and the good example you provided on the importance of that (nice test scene, btw). Shooting the enemies felt so fun and satisfying due to the gun and animation work! I really liked it. Is the giant face a sprite as well? I wasn't able to figure it out by myself.

The concept is fun and I liked reading the questions from the doctor. But I have to say that I found it a little bit hard to do it while trying to connect the ying and yang parts during the puzzle section and also still keeping track of the time. Maybe a voice over would help... not sure. But of course, I know that during the jam it is impossible do do something like that, this is more like a tip for the future. I also don't know how the giant doctor faces as enemies connects with the questions, may be not, but it would be even more fun to see some relations between them (maybe in a pos jam release?).

Anyways, well done, @furano! I liked your game a lot and I hope it does get a good high score by the end of the competition. You can count on my five stars review for sure, because I do not regreat saving this game to play it later! Awesome!

molpe 2022-10-21 21:59

Neat game! Great music, nice idea, love how you worked with the 10s theme
