LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Drillromantik by pschichtel 2021-04-27T18:13:10Z

Wow very nice! Apparently having a large team really pays off! I would have added a win condition for getting the diamonds, as this is a Game Jam -game. The game had lots of features and complex system of resources and still you managed to pull it off, very nice! Played it to the "end"(all of the upgrades) with no problems, took me about 30 minutes. Very enjoyable experience, but the lack of end game of Win condition was dissapointing. I really liked the fact that the graphics are made inside Minecraft, I might even copy that idea to our next game! And it is nice that the source codes are available, only handful of games share the source code. And big plus for Webgl! Probably best game so far I have reviewed and at least I played this game the longest.

Super Driller Bros by schadocalex 2021-04-27T17:34:43Z

The Webgl version does not seem to work. I can only see spinning loading icon (I lost my patience after 5 minutes).

F-33L5 by Plastacier 2021-04-26T18:27:18Z

A truly enjoyable experience, a good take on the flappy bird genre! The game started so smoothly that It took me while to realize that I needed to control the probe! The music matched perfeclty the theme, gameplay and graphics! The ending felt little bit too long and meaningless. But so far this game was smoothest experience from the games I have reviewed so far!

The MindDiver by Pierre.F 2021-04-26T18:18:35Z

Great game, best so far I have reviewed! But why not webgl? I really enjoyed the lightning, graphics and sounds. The pixelated effect combined with dynamic lightning looked awesome! The premis was also interesting. At times it was even scary! It is not far from fully fledged game. :) I hope you had fun time making this awesome game!

Who runs the world? by Vladimir Smolin 2021-04-27T17:29:17Z

Great UI and graphics! The WebGL compilation was also a blessing! It was difficult to understand what you were supposed to do. In the beginning I thought that the meter in the bottom of the screen must not get too high, so you have to slowly but surely infect more people just like in the Pandemic game without causing any trouble. After clicking hundreds of times the buttons and after getting all of the "upgrades", I was confused what I'm supposed to do now. Then I saved up on all the different virus types and finished the game.

Couple of suggestions: - Make small sound for clicking the buttons - Upgrades and unlocks give you passive income of the virus - Only loosely connected to the theme, maybe you could have changed the graphics for a mine of similar and unlock new parts of the mine

Nice game, with only tiny bit of effort this would be a fully fledged game in Steam/Appstore/Play Store.

Corona 69 by Elektroney 2021-04-26T19:51:31Z

320 points, yay! I enjoyed this game. I think the best part was the visual effects and the distortions of the screen. Is the source code somewhere available? Great game!

The Mine to Sentience by spyturtle 2021-04-28T17:58:15Z

Remeber that you need to get 20 ratings to participate in the competition (in order to get ratings you need to rate other games).

Really nice game. It is always incredible to see that people have time to implement this kind of money and upgrade system, great job! The game had great looks and feel, but the fall damage seemed too punishing. I could swear that sometimes I took fall damage for just jumping in place and it was instant game over for falling too many times. The parachute seemed little bit too expensive for what its worth. But these are just minor balance issues and it is perfectly understandable that a Jam Game does not have excellent balance.

Other minor thing: The hitbox of the player should have been little bit smaller (google players advantage). It felt annoying to bump to the corners of the platforms.

Great game, cheers, see you in the next jam!

Dongeons & Potions by Revetoon 2021-04-27T18:35:43Z

Really awesome game, but WHY NO WEBGL BUILD? The game was really good and polished all around. Nice sounds, music, graphics, gameplay. It even has some replayability because the dungeon is more or less random generated! I was impressed about the potions, really cool that there were different kind of buffs and debuffs!

DoomWell by Thenejo 2021-04-26T16:42:19Z

Good game considering the circumstances. I got to the bottom of the pit, yayyy :) Why no webgl build? The music was little bit annoying and did not fit the mood, but It was also entertaining to listen. But the movement was very solid and it was fun to shoot bad guys.

The Shadowy Temple by Kiwi1281 2021-04-27T18:54:41Z

Congratulations for finishing your first game job, good job! The Unreal Engine really did the trick here, the lightning looked amazing and I actually felt like I was exploring a deep in a desert ruin. The puzzle was little bit unclear, I just randomly ran around and the doors opened. But at least I won the game, yay! Enjoyed this game, I hope I will see you guys in the next jam!

Captain Corn's Escape by 54T4NmI5T 2021-04-26T16:48:38Z

Nice and smooth gameplay and short enought to finish the whole story during testing. :) I would love to see the source code for this game. :)

Deepest Greed - Mines of Darin by Limonado 2021-04-26T17:29:42Z

Very nice game! Immidiately when I saw the time, I was expecting games like this. I think the biggest issue with the game is the lack of sounds. I would probably have dropped few of the ore types/items and used that time to create at least some sort of minimalistic sound effects. But it is very impressive that you managed to create intelligent enemies, a variety of different kind of items, shop and crafting system etc. I played it only for like 5 minutes but I got the idea that you could sink so much time in to this game.

LD49 — Unstable

Schrodinger's Cat by jeroenpx 2021-10-06T15:42:51Z

Nice game. The length was good and for a game jam game, it was actually somewhat impressive that you had the time to implement fully 3D game with such an interesting mechanics and smooth controls. Jumping to a platform was sometimes little bit glitchy. I see that your game has exactly the same problem as ours: The mouse sensitivity is ridicilously high in webgl version compared to the original. I'm probably going to prepare for the next game jam by doing sensitivity slider before hand. :) Thanks for nice game, maybe you could try to make some minor improvmenets for the game page, at least for me, I can not see the images and gifs. Maybe you could also write some short intro story, something little more than "cat escaping". But I really liked your game, cheers!

Nuclear Routine by maxds98 2021-10-05T09:46:29Z

Good game, at first it was very difficult to understand what is going on, but after 10 retries I managed to get the hang of it and I was able to finish the game. Once I understood that you can fix the water valve, the game became much easier. :) Very nice audio and graphics.

Nuclear Routine by maxds98 2021-10-05T10:56:21Z

@Bugord those .gifs are actually very helpful! I think also major confusion for the first few playthrougs was for me why the water was not flowing even after I had opened the water valve multiple times already. Now the water valve is actually working like a manually operated water pump. Maybe indicate more clearly that you actually need to manually pump the water, or maybe the valve would rotate immidiately back to closed state after you have opened it. (of course the jam already ended, but if you are making some updates after the jam)

Btw. check out our game Morning After also. :)

Red Flag (Le Temps des TempĂȘtes) by Achiru 2021-10-05T17:38:11Z

Wow this was awesome! It reminds me about the golden age of flash games. I used to play simple games like this for hours and hours and it was so much fun. The game was really polished and the gameplay was FUN! The audio was little bit too simplistic, but it did the job. For a game jam game maybe little bit too difficult, it took me 4 tries to win the game and for the 2nd and 3rd play through I was already 27/30 which was little bit frustrating. One of the better games out there!

Unstable Delivery by MrBlue 2021-10-05T16:44:39Z

Good job, you managed to get a descent feeling driving model in few days! Few jams ago our team tried to do a driving game and to get the handling feel right was really time consuming and difficult thing to do... Impressive job! :) I think the biggest issue is the missing audio, I would have even dropped half of the levels to get at least some kind of simple engine sound. Also I would have changed the navigation arrow to point directly to the navigation point, now it was very annoying to go 150 kmh to an intersection only to need to slowly to slow down, make U turn and return to that cursed intersection. But I enjoyed the driving model and the graphics and there was plenty of different levels, good job!

Unstable Delivery by MrBlue 2021-10-05T19:05:14Z

@laserhydra thanks for detailed reply :)

Dungeon Disasters by Taximan981 2021-10-06T16:02:18Z

Wow, this is awesome game! The graphics and audio might not be that great, but the gameplay was actually fun! I can see the enormous potential for this game with just better 3d models and actual audio! And the changing map was actually pretty impressive! Even it looks and sounds like Runescape v0.1, I loved every minute of playing this XD Keep up the good work and I wish you continue development of this game! :)

Un-Stabled by funemaker 2021-10-09T13:32:26Z

Nice to see game that has not been done using unity. :) However I wish there would have been browser compilation, it is always better when you dont need to download anything and web-games are highly prioritized as reviewing targets. I really liked the game and I became obsessed to finish it which I eventually did. I really liked the voice acting, it was great tutorial and made the game more fun. Also music was great too. You have great voice and great microphone, really soothing, almost worked as ASMR trigger for me! :D

Unstable government by DmitryGalias 2021-10-11T16:34:21Z

Nice game! I think I found a bug: After finishing the game, when you start a new game, there are no police, taxman or mail and you get to keep all the money that you had when you finished. And yes, I really enjoyed the game that much that I wanted to start a 2nd playthrough! I love simple number growing games! I think the tax thing was little bit weird and at first I thought I was gaining money or something. I would have added maybe some explaining texts here and there, because those icons were sometimes little cryptic. For a mobile game it is nice if you can come up with good enough icons to explain everything, but on PC game I prefer icon + text, it is just so much more easier to understand then everything has a label. The police and gate mechanism was really innovative! I really liked that I got some time trying to delete all the prohibited items. Also minor improvement suggestion: The trees on the edge of the screen were difficult to click because the UI would get in the way. I would have added more buffer to the edges of the screen. But yeah, I think this is the best game experience for me so far! I really like strategy and business games and I would like to make something like this at some point by myself.

Unstable Tower by Ibrahim Oezhan 2021-10-05T17:13:49Z

NÀyttökuva 2021-10-05 201039.png I think I found a bug. :)

Great game! It fits the theme perfectly as the gameplay itself is described by the theme, not only the setting! And it was nice that you put the time to make some simple audio also. The controls were also nice and clean and it really helps that the key bindings are on the screen always.

Simply beautiful!

Unstable Tower by Ibrahim Oezhan 2021-10-07T11:56:24Z

Btw. are you allowed to add bug fixes after the jam has ended? @ibrahim-oezhan We have also done some fixes to our game but we will publish after the results are in.

Witch of the Warren by krummja 2021-10-06T12:11:19Z

Nice game! I really like the idea that the solution is hidden in the text, kind of reminds our LudumDare 48 game. Nice job! The graphics and sounds were nice :) As others have mentioned, the text is little bit too slow and if you skip it then you might miss the hints and there is no way to check the hints again. I dont know it was a bug or if I was just too slow, but it seemed like that no matter what I did for the 2nd potion, every ingredient would fail.

Witch of the Warren by krummja 2021-10-06T12:12:34Z

Btw. you could add some images to this Ludum Dare page and maybe screenshots to itch.io page too, it make the game page look more interesting. :)

Witch of the Warren by krummja 2021-10-06T12:13:04Z

Is the source code somehwhere available?

Crumble by EvokeSoul 2021-10-06T15:52:42Z

Good game and congratulations for finishing on time! Good job for a 1 person team! I think the game does not show the final time in the end. It is great that you also spent the time to add that background music, I think the biggest issue in jam games is that sounds are completely missing. The gameplay is fun and the game is functional and the graphics are ok. Keep up the good work and see you on the next jam!

Cargo Frog by Kobrasadetin 2021-10-06T14:29:47Z

Great game, one of the better ones. :) I think the time for loading the cargo was too short and the time to drive the cargo was too long. I was only able to load the cargo only few times as the barrels kept exploding, but when I did manage to leave, it took only about 30 seconds to drive to the other side. But I love the idea and it fits percfectly the theme! The graphics and audio were great and gameplay is solid. With minor improvements to difficulty and some sort of different levels and signaling the progress to the player this could be a game on steam :)

Server Hell by ChristianB 2021-10-05T17:02:47Z

Wow awesome game! I am really impressed! But for some reason I could not put down any of the fires and therefore I could not finish the game... And I was unable to deliver the package or send emails as those tasks were not visible on the map for some reason... But overall I think this is the best game I have played so far! :)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Drawn Out by mechanicallife 2022-04-06T19:47:24Z

This must be the most impressive game I have reviewed so far! This would be a really great game if balance and the synergies would be well thought. For example, I did not see any card that would interact with tags "Animal", "Sky" or "Flying", and because of that the 1/1 flying creature seemed really bad. The best strategy seemed to just pick the pickest creatures, as it was really difficult to get any good synergies going. The multiplayer is really impressive though and everything from graphics to audio and controls were almost perfect. Excellent job guys and girls, this game makes me jealous that we did not have 7 members on our team :D

Drawn Out by mechanicallife 2022-04-06T19:52:15Z

Oh and I dont see how this is related to the theme, but that does not make this game any less impressive. :)

Eldritch Legacy by amkingTRP 2022-04-05T07:37:07Z

Great game! Of course it could have used some better UI and audio feedback what is going on and lots of polish, but still it was good game. Especially the graphics and music was good.

Last Stand by TheMightyTrout 2022-04-07T17:24:05Z

Good game! Reset option would have been super important, needed to reload the page for couple of times. But other than that, nice that you had time to make music, sound effects and variety in building blocks. As next improvement maybe adding more beefy effects all over the place, like some wood splintering then the cannon hits etc, smoke, blood and rubble everywhere! Also maybe next you could add variety on the enemies and it would show you what enemy is coming next. I really like the game and little bit of work i could see myself playing this game for fun hours and hours! And btw. I managed to get to the wave 4 after 3 tries. :)

Reaching Home by Martta 2022-04-05T18:01:59Z

@kristinamay the intention was that The fire would get out of hand quickly (The inevitable), but the game ended up being too easy as others have mentioned. We thought about the mouse aim, but we wanted the game to be playable with 1 hand.

@str0nkyk0ng wow really? We never experienced this bug during few hours of playtesting.

@cryptomnesic when the AI says "60 seconds oxygen remaining" a Red 60s countdown begins and you need to repair the Life support before that. I also died 1 time like this as I was happily fire fighting, so definitely the visual and audio cue could Be stronger and more forgiving.

@linnet5 Balancing difficulty for this game was tricky. I came up with a dynamic difficulty system that would adapt to the player skill level, but I did not finish it before the jam ended :(

@exaggegen Good idea, I might add those after jam. :)

@kirypto Thank you! I actually started to feel the same way during playtesting, endless/hard mode is definitely needed! I wanted the game to have and ending because I knew that everybody would be making endless-survival games and I wanted to tell a "story".

The Torcher by infecsean 2022-04-04T20:31:35Z

This game might lack fun gameplay and good ending, but it certainly has large 3D detailed map with very nice audio. For some reason, the game starts to lag really heavily in the ending when pulling the lever. I would have probably tried to go for smaller environment with less details and focus more on the ending/gameplay/story. Good entry :V

The Inevtiable End by StrictPeak 2022-04-05T17:06:40Z

Did not have time to play this properly, and the progress seemed little bit slow even with the 3x speed (at least for a jam game, in other context the speed was fine). But the graphics are 5/5! Some sort of ambient music or at least some beep sounds for the buttons would have been nice and simple addition.

BaraRun by DerekBell 2022-04-05T15:15:10Z

647 meters! Great music and cute graphics, solid controls :) The grappling hook felt little bit slow and intuitive at first and there was no sound effects for using it and neither for jumping. But I have reviewed 3 games so far and this has been the most fun and pleasing experience! :)

BaraRun by DerekBell 2022-04-06T07:33:58Z

@derekbell Rated :)

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Tiny Jukebox by bobo_oh 2022-10-07T18:05:33Z

I just love this game! Some really minor things that could make this game little bit smoother, but this game still is very great!

Ruins by frax 2022-10-05T15:59:34Z

Nice game. I made it to third level but then I needed to do some chores and stop playing. I felt like there should have been more checkpoints, because the levels were impossible to complete on first try. You just needed to know what lays before you to have any chance of getting past the level. Audio was excellent and graphics great. And the player movement was really solid. For some reason WASD was not working, I had to use arrow keys. The theme was included in the game, but I felt that the basic concept was not very innovative. Platformer games are maybe the most common type of game and inverted gravity has been there many times. But the implementation was neat and polished, which is of course one of the most important things.

Tempo traveller by MarcoDeevil 2022-10-07T17:21:44Z

This game is hard!

Couple of ideas how to improve:

- Make the music by yourself (I am not sure, but this game is straight copyright infringiment, right?). I just had to give 0/5 for audio for stealing music. - Make the music with VERY CLEAR BEAT to follow. Now it was impossible to decide when I am able to move simply by listening to music - Move the beat visualizer on top of the play are, so that you can see with 1 glance where you are going and when - Make it so that you do not lose life when you miss a beat - Gain a hitpoint when hitting a beat correctly - More hearts, now it is just too difficult. - Hotkeys for restarting the game. I was dying a alot, and every time i needed to reach for my mouse. I tried pressing for few obvious buttons like R and Space.

But I really like the idea and with good (and legal) music and minor QoL improvements, I could see myself this game. Reminds me of Patapon or Crypt of the NecroDancer <3

lÄndskein by Demure 2022-10-07T17:53:28Z

Nature wins, everybody wins, nice! I really liked this game! It was very polished from start to end. There are so many great things about this game! Graphics are great, audio is great, the gameplay is very innovative, the score counting was really fun! The only thing I would critizise is that the game mechanics seemed pretty complicated at first. I had trouble understanding what was happening even though I won.

Shady business by Peche et Tradition 1867 2022-10-04T17:57:15Z

Really nice game. The graphics were 5/5. I dont know if it was a bug or a feature, but I crashed my ship without any warning on the sonar nor seeing anything on the deck. I did not have the will to try again after sailing 10 minutes in the darkness and crashing without apparent reason. But it was still enjoyable for me. :) I really like games like these, many complex systems interacting together and not too much hand-holding. This was really impressive as it was made only in few days.

Treasure Tactics by Martta 2022-10-04T08:43:08Z

@human-writes-code try right clicking. :)

Treasure Tactics by Martta 2022-10-05T17:08:02Z

@zluca thank you for your feedback. After you found the map, the Treasure is revealed and the compass points to the treasure. To get more oranges, you need to stop by an island with oranges, so you need to plan your journey.

Treasure Tactics by Martta 2022-10-05T17:37:43Z

@zluca there is nice animaation, sound effect and victory screen waiting at the end! :D And IMO the game gets better the more you play it as you familiarize yourself with the weird RTS/TBS mix :) initially it feels wrong and annoying, but then you get to experience the strategy and tactics layers of the game.

Treasure Tactics by Martta 2022-10-07T16:57:09Z

@wouter52 Yes the map is random generated. Yes, the "zigzagging" is because of the wind. It is a sailing boat after all, it is impossible to go against the wind! The proper sailing term is tacking: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacking_(sailing) When you approach the island with a map, the compass starts pointing towards the treasure.

@niklas-zhaga we are actually thinking about Android/iPhone conversion. I have actually a made list of required changes for mobile: - Reduce line of sight and movement points to 1/2, so that everything is bigger and easier to hit with a thumb. - Double the number of the islands. As you are moving slower and can not see that far, there needs to be more oranges available - Increase the number of enemies by 50 %. As you are travelling shorter distances, you would encounter fewer enemies. - Enable slow motion, when you are selecting your next action. Selecting your next destination/target might be slow and inaccurate with your mobile, you need more time vs. mouse and keyboard.

Treasure Tactics by Martta 2022-10-09T16:38:02Z

@badcop thanks for the stream! Always great feedback to see someone to play your game. For example I learned that the game gives little feedback why your ship is zig zagging (tacking) when you are sailing against the wind. It is just too easy to dismiss as a bug.

Treasure Tactics by Martta 2022-10-12T12:31:32Z

@tinylittlestudio Thanks for feedback! I actually wrote a blog posts here where you can see the evolution of the graphics: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/project-hex/evolution-of-our-game-treasure-tactics

In the blog post you can see how we initially had detailed water, but it looked terrible, so we opted for simpler look.

We were in progress of creating a more simpler ship, but you dont have time for everything during a game jam... :-)

Flying Or Dying by magicstunts123 2022-10-07T17:40:45Z

I would definitely remove the collision->spinning. It was fun in the 1st time, but in the second time it was already annoying. Escpecially because the hitbox for the fly felt like size of a watermelon.

But the game was great! I feel like this was maybe top 5 games that I have played. The map, graphics and sounds were impressive. And even the animations were great! And the Dark Souls death screen gave me a laugh!

Elemental Reload by Niklas Zhaga 2022-10-06T17:41:52Z

The itch.io link seems to be broken. I think the complete lack of sound effects hurts this game pretty much. Some really basic chip tune sounds generated with https://sfbgames.itch.io/chiptone would have made this game so much more enjoyable! Overall the game is really solid. But I did not really understand how to use the E button. There were quite little feedback on what was happening and why I could destroy only certain color of turrets. Also the concept of Shrines were really difficult to understand. Where are the shrines? Why I am not able to interact with the shrine? Also at least the webgl build seems to be little bit too difficult. After 10 minutes of playing I was able to get 3 shrines at best. Oh and you are able to walk outside of the area! :D Btw. remember to rate other peoples game. You must review at least ~20 games or you are not in the competition.

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-05T06:35:29Z

Btw. I just noticed that you are allowed to make bug fixes after the time has ended, sorry for reviewing the buggy version! Maybe you should remove the buggy version from downloads and just leave patch notes in the description (the rules allow it).

Platelet Commander by dandeliondino 2022-10-04T17:41:09Z

Nice aesthetics and music. I was sad to see that the game was bugged (the dead space). To be honest, the gameplay loop was not that fun nor balanced. But I have to give credit for creativeness! And there are so many different mechanics working flawlessly, pathfinding, drag and drop, inventory system, musics, graphics etc. and you did everything this alone! I can not imagine how you had time for all this. I could see that with little more polish this could actually teach you so many things about biology. :)

Soul Property: Who's Life is it Anyway? by Budaniel 2023-01-11T19:28:03Z

Somewhat impressive graphics and game (3D requires always so much more work than 2D). I always give extra credit for making 3D during Ludum Dare! I really liked the main menu and the intro. And you had also great sounds, voice lines and music! The gameplay is little bit boring and basic, but I think that it is still a good game.

The Unidentified Flying Cat Burglars! by Krassenstein 2023-01-12T19:28:29Z

Cool game, but lacks polish. The controls vere not enjoyable. It was cool that the spacecraft had acceleration and lots of inertia, but it did not feel nice for me. Also the projectiles were annoyingly slow, which made killing enemies somewhat unsatisfactory. However, there were excellent music, good graphics and good all around implementation on all aspects of the game. I liked this game, especially the enemy fighters were cool. I wish there would have been some end goal, like collecting 100 cats or collect as many cats as you can in 1 minute or something like that.

Played it 4 times and I was not able to finish it (I got places to be etc.). But I really enjoyed this game! This might be the best game I have reviewed! I really like the open world feel of the game, the complex features of the game etc etc. It had ok sound design, solid graphics, good controls and very impressive set of features. There was a strategy level involved in managing the energy and crops, but it was not too overwhelming as the enemies came in waves. I think best part of this game is the gampelay loop: Harvest seeds, fight, collect seeds, buy upgrades, fight, harvest crop... Only thing I really hated was the rotating asteroids and the short viewing distance. The asteroids were moving and rotating too fast which made them not very pleasant to look at and also it was rather difficult to keep track of them because some of them were moving so fast. Also the last few waves feeled really overwhelming, as next one came in before I was able to finish previous wave. I tried to use the nuke to destroy the Tree boss, but it was not very effective and instead drained the energy. I did not like the fact that the better weapons required energy (I can see what you were going after: some incentive to switch weapons). I think the game would have been better if none of the weapons would have consumed energy, and there would have been no option to switch to previous and inferior weapons. Thank you for making such a great game!

Anne & the Carrot Islands by bobo_oh 2023-01-13T16:07:08Z

Got stuck on the level 9 :D I tried it 10 times and then I had enough, I hate this kind of puzzle games (it is not your fault!).

I think this is a good entry. Good music, graphics and mechanics, no apparent bugs and even little bit of story. Even though I am not fan of the genre, I think is a proper game! Not sure if I can give any tips how to improve it, it is well rounded and good experience. Maybe cheat codes that I can beat it and see the ending! :D I really liked the carrot animation for restarting level.

CVC Presents: Roberto Farmermun's Horrific Planting Adventure 2023 by David Mason 2023-01-15T10:46:34Z

This game was a rough ride. The learning curve was rather steep and I had to go back to the tutorial few times in order to understand what was going on. I think you should have made the game much, much simpler (or at least if you care about good scores, which are arguably irrelevant compared to the artistic process). I would have removed the different kind of attacks and plants (what was the point of them anyways?). I think there also is little to no need to ranged + melee attack, so melee attack could also be stripped away. If you would have tried to do less complex game, maybe you could have polished it little bit more. There were also lacking sound effects, which made me sad. :(

I also agree that the day was too short for a game this complex, I was unable to figure out how to get more money/energy/health.

With this game, less would have been more. The game has impressive number of features though and it is always more fun to add more features rather than polish and fix the existing ones.

Flower Dash by Vyndilis 2023-01-10T17:17:45Z

This is exactly the game I needed after long and stressful work day. :-) As others have said, this was relaxing and solid game. Good graphics, good controls, good sounds and music, good feedback, interesting mechanics (i really liked the double click mechanic, even though you did not need it necessarily). Only thing I would have added would be some 3 star system like in angry birds, for completing the levels with extra speed/low number of moves. Games like these could have endless number of levels, enemies etc, but I am glad that the game was short so that I could see the ending. Good Ludum Dare game does not need to be long. :-)

The Onion Quest by Dekajoo 2023-01-10T20:55:27Z

This game was great! If this game would have had sounds, it would have been my favourite game so far! Even some 8-bit "thump" sound for attack would have made the game 2 times better. You should check this page: https://sfbgames.itch.io/chiptone I think you should have dropped one of the vegetables and add 1 or 2 sound effects instead.

But the gameplay was really good! I really like the FTL-style world map, random events, different kind of vegetables etc! This game is suprisingly feature rich and it kept suprising! Beat the game on my 2nd try, so the challenge was also fitted well for a ludum dare game, where you usually play every game for only few minutes.

The Onion Quest by Dekajoo 2023-02-07T11:46:13Z

Thanks for the update, it was nice! :-)

Money harvest by ffrusik 2023-01-13T19:04:31Z

Well, this was compo game, so lack of polish can be forgiven. Maybe instead of choosing between all of the options all the time, there could have been a choice between random 2 actions. And maybe get rid of the timer. And maybe the effect would be shown only after you have chosen it, so that you can have time to think "hmm, how would scamming affect my family relations?" (and because the timer would be off, you would have the time to think about it). But now I am just listing things how to make this game just like Reigns... I am glad that you took the time to make music, but I think there could have been some little sound when pressing a button. Overall a good and impressive game for compo, although lacking some polish.

Turmsoil by Chrispy977 2023-01-11T16:04:22Z

Little bit buggy, but I forgive you for making a true MMO game! Excellent! I wish people would make more games like this! I think there is no need to leave improvement ideas, as you already know what could be done better. Really impressive that you made online multiplayer!

I think there were some bugs. Sometimes my money was changing. I was at 10 money, then it showed 7 money and then 10 again. Also after 10 minutes of playing the game, the game suddenly stopped working altogether and I was unable to get money from harvesting crops.

Frosty Forestry by Martta 2023-01-09T15:05:28Z

Thank you @fnkee, @aarimous and @paulstraw for feedback. This jam was especially challenging, because my 1 month old daughter required lots of care during the weekend! And our team was also using Godot for first time, so most of the time was spent on doing tutorials. :D But now we have experience from Godot and the next jam will be easier. It was nice to use this "extra" jam to learn new technology.

I will see if I have time tonight after work to add some sort of indication for when the chainsaw is ready. We also made some other minor improvements and bug fixes already earlier today.

Frosty Forestry by Martta 2023-01-10T09:04:11Z

Thank you everyone for constructive feedback and all the praises. I am glad that you mostly enjoyed our little game! :-)

@jeffrey-hwang Well done!

@achilnos Roads in Finland are very safe, accidents are rare ;)

@noobman64 We added also a big text in the top of the screen "Chainsaw is ready". The chainsaw cooldown ended up little bit annoying and weird anyway, but it had to be done for balance and challenge.

@tk-dev Yes, adding more content would make the experience more fleshed out, but we decided to focus on the main mechanics instead of extra content.

Frosty Forestry by Martta 2023-01-10T17:19:33Z

Gene Harvesting by BigFantasyTree 2023-01-09T20:19:03Z

Either I am stupid, or the game is bugged. I read the insturctions carefully, tried to click any visible UI element with left-, right- and shift-click without any visible progress. Also there was no sound. I managed to get some progress with cheats, but I did not know what to do with the inventory items and I got frustrated. :( I am sure there is a game somewhere there, but I was unable to find it.

Highway Harvester by deadjolly 2023-01-13T21:29:17Z

I really like the art style and music. The game is ok, but however unfinished. I dont know if you could have dropped some of the features so that you would have had enough time to finish the game with win/lose condition. Maybe the initial game idea was little bit too ambitious given the available resources? Maybe if the initial idea would have been simpler, the game would have been more polished? But congratulations for finishing your first Ludum Dare game!! Only ~50% teams are able to submit anything, but you managed! This year there were 3483 signups but only 1600 entries.

LD53 — Delivery

Arcana Express by Joe Cowman 2023-05-06T12:26:01Z

Very innovative spell casting mechanic! With little bit more polish this could be a great game!

Danger Dash by vknauss 2023-05-06T05:01:51Z

Cool game and I appreciate the effort to build it from scratch without any engine. We made game with same idea using Godot 4.0, you deliver packages while there are zombies. :D

Too bad there was no audio and also I think some balancing would be needed to make the game more fun.

International Relief Corps by CharlesE 2023-05-03T15:52:51Z

I had the same experience as @its-capp. According to other comments there are NPC that you could find, but I did not find any. Graphics were nice, but the lack of instructions/guidance/pointers was lackluster. Also there were no sound.

Resources by megalukes 2023-05-06T15:25:10Z

Great game, quite similar to our game. I did not like the darkening of the screen as it made hard game even more hard. It was also frustrating to look for the random spawned delivery points in unknown city without map or anything. Some guiding arrow to the delivery points would have been great. Also I got stuck annoyingly on some parts of the level, maybe the player hitbox could have been little bit smaller. But the graphics, sounds and gameplay was othervise great and this is one of the better games I have reviewed so far. The shop system and weight system was really nice.

Gecko's Deliverance by JustMars 2023-05-03T16:14:25Z

This was probably the best game I have played so far! Really cool to see RTS game in Ludum Dare. However it breaks my heart to see the lack of polish in the controls. I wish you had spent less time on the awesome graphics and sounds and focused little bit more on the gameplay. Maybe you could have even removed one of the levels to polish the controls little bit. Also it felt weird that your soldiers were scattered all around the map. But still this game is damn impressive.

Deliwar by GraphicEdit 2023-05-06T12:35:30Z

Thanks for awesome game <3 The twitch integration was really cool idea, maybe in next Ludum Dare we will see some extended use of it?? :o

Deliwar by GraphicEdit 2023-05-06T12:36:15Z

Also some sort of tutorial would have helped. It was initially unclear when to press "fight", "throw" and "pick up". But eventually I managed to beat the game. :-)

A Wolf's Riposte by Wolfier 2023-05-03T13:45:14Z

Fun game. I did not like the fact that the attack consumed HP. It is like punishing you for fighting, but also you are not able to run away. The music + fast movement felt good. Graphics were ok and did the job. Really liked how you showed where the enemies are going to attack next turn. Also overall the grid based battle was very well made and polished. The gameplay loop was little bit weird: You need to find a letter that is in a random place and then deliver it to a random place. Feels like that the pick up point or delivery point should always be the same or at least some actual place like building.

A Backyard Scramble by Bea 2023-05-03T15:41:01Z

I liked the graphics and sounds. The graphics were very consistent and also sounds. It was also short and sweet. Was there some sort of reward for delivering more than 1 egg?

A Backyard Scramble by Bea 2023-05-03T15:42:10Z

The game was very polished, but I feel like something was missing, maybe some extra way of moving, like sprinting, or something like that.

Drop Dead Delivery by Martta 2023-05-03T15:33:12Z

@stellarr2 In Finland Posti delivers packages to a locked box close to you where you pick it up with a code you receive with SMS message. :)

Drop Dead Delivery by Martta 2023-05-03T19:45:24Z

@remus Wow that is actually really high score! The web build has terrible performance and it took great effort to make it to run even that well. The Windows build has greatly improved FPS. The game was made with Godot 4.0 which has very buggy web builds still.

Drop Dead Delivery by Martta 2023-05-06T14:05:15Z

@Devil_ovo Do you mean you Dropped Dead XD

Drop Dead Delivery by Martta 2023-05-06T17:49:32Z

@lexuor There are actually first-aid kits, they start spawning after you are below 50% health. You can also get fully healed and +10% max health when finishing delivery round. Yeah I am also sad that the zombies do not fall of the roof. I would have added as a post jam patch, but I dont know if that would have been counted as bug fix or a new feature, so I left it out.

Drop Dead Delivery by Martta 2023-05-06T18:29:41Z

@lexuor Yes it was planned and we had a ticket for it on our backlog, but we ran out of time.

Dead-Livery by Enzo Coletta 2023-05-03T14:18:52Z

You probably know the main problems with this game, so no need to painfully point them out. One piece of advice: The hitbox for player should be much smaller (Design philosophy is called advantage of the player). The graphics, music and sounds were great and the game was actually playable! Glad to see that such a large group of people got together and greated something great!

Ludum Dare 53 by Beebster Games 2023-05-06T13:13:19Z

I think you overscoped and the game is lacking polish. You should have went for something smaller. But I really like that you spent the time to search for nice sprites and music and implemented all basic features. Also some sort of tutorial would have been very helpful. Those mines and wizards were very confusing! But it was still solid entry as you managed to make a playable game with graphics and sounds, it is actually quite impressive when you think about it outside of Ludum Dare community.

Cleopatra's Pizza by Maxnanas 2023-05-06T12:10:48Z

I got 556 points, yay! :-) I really liked the graphics and gameplay. It was nice that you could immidiately try again by pressing space. The art style is great and the ancient egypt is really cool. I think the music did not fit the egypt theme and the very long fade out for the music did not fit very well as the music was looping anyway. Also there were no any sound effects. I would have been so radical and would have made few sound effects for jumping and dying with ChipTone and remove the music. Also the map was little bit weird as it was floating in the air. The game would have been more immersive if the environment would have been little bit more "realistic". But however this is really nice entry and I enjoyed playing it. It looks and plays very good.

Monster Bunker by kykypy3o8 2023-05-03T20:04:03Z

I really like the idea! Always could use more polish, but the idea was very innovative. I feel like the repair tools should have been scrapped and maybe there could have been some skill based movement mechanic. Really nice musics and sounds

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-03T13:34:59Z

Yay, I got 1005 points! :-) I really liked the fact that you could boost yourself by shooting in the opposing direction, made the gameplay so much more fun. The graphics and sounds are little basic and the game did not scale to fullscreen on web, but solid entry still. Keep up the good work. I think there could have been some sort of highlight on the house that you are currently delivering to.

Just Wait! by SlySeville 2023-05-06T05:10:42Z

The movement felt annoying, there was some weird acceleration going on. Also the game felt little bit laggy on my PC (GTX 970). I liked that there was no handholding, you had to remember who ordered what. And luckily the customers were not from Finland and were brave enough to say that "this is not what I ordered" :D Music and sound effects were good.

Cargo Chaos by synthol 2023-05-06T12:19:40Z

Nice game, but there are several problems. Glad you took the time to fix most of the issues after the jam, but I am afraid that I need to review the game based on the original version, as you added several new features to the game from the feedback. The rules allow only bug fixes and ports to other platforms after the time has ended. The game was however very balanced experience and I did not notice any bugs, so it was good quality!

Boxlin by UnitOfTime 2023-05-03T14:08:20Z

I have to grive strong credit to innovation! Original idea! :-) The music was little bit repeating and loud, but it was nice. Graphics were great. Thos large boxes really got me. Plenty of stuff that could have been added, like some feedback for damage, but there is always things to add in LDjam game. :D

Same-Day Delivery by NEO97 2023-05-03T18:17:24Z

Some sort of menu would have been great so that I could make the game screen little bit bigger before my mouse gets locked to the window. But solid entry! Music was good, although little bit too loud. Sounds were the weakest part of this game as there was only the gun firing sound which did not fit the 2 barrel shotgun. Graphics were excellent.

LD54 — Limited Space

F.R.E.D by Mr_Field 2023-10-06T19:28:18Z

Fun game! I think some sort of tutorial would be essential for this game. The controls were not documented inside tha game, and it was difficult to remember what was the difference betwee x and c buttons and ended up dropping the items accidentally all the time. Also some kind of desciption of the goals would have been nice. But really compled and interesting game!

I Need Some Space by 0x01F0 2023-10-08T13:00:54Z

I am getting an error when trying to start the game: "Following components are required to run this program: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime".

LD54 A Space Station Odysee by Wisch 2023-10-03T12:39:31Z

Ah looks like that I accidentally played the version that was uncompletable... What a waste of time trying to complete the game... :D The game is quite fun, but lacks some polish. The music seems to stop playing after certain amount of time (you need to set the looping from the import setting in Godot and then reimport). I think you should have went for little bit smaller set of features. Now there were too many different resources for example. I really liked the fact that you could find new companions around the space station, but the RTS-style controls still felt little bit unnecessary. I think that one of the survivors should be selected at all times, no need for unselecting them. I see great potential with this game with little bit of polishing!

Fowl Play by Simon Rahnasto 2023-10-07T18:46:51Z

- Great voice acting - Good graphics - Nice and kind of innovative gameplay - I got the right suspect, but I kind of fell of the plot anyway. So many ducks that were kind of similar and weird names. I would have needed to take notes on pen and paper to understand all the clues - Fight sequences were nice addition, but were not explained very well. Maybe one voiceline in the final sequence would have tied them better in the plot, something like "He/she used mercenaries in trying to stop the detective". - Nice and innovative interperation of the theme, as everything happened in small limited space as a play. However it had only little gameplay implications.

Thanks for interesting and inspiring experience! I like this kind of Ludum Dare games that are small, interesting and polished short experiences. :-) Video games industry is too saturated for action games without nice story.

LD54 - Pack-Man's limited space by Ifman1 2023-10-03T17:41:58Z

Nice game. I wish there would have been sound effect for returning the coins to a piggy bank. Also the 10 coin limit was rather generous, maybe 5 would have made more interesting gameplay. I liked the fact that there were so many ghosts, but they were slow and did not follow the player in very optimal way. There was great pressure from the ghosts as they were everywhere, but still I managed to escape them. Thank you for this great game, also the player animations looked cool!

Limited Larry and the Lost Intern by Achiru 2023-10-08T12:19:17Z

Very confusing and I quickly forgot what I was doing and got stuck and was unable to proceed. Maybe I forgot something useful information that prevented me from progressing?

The idea is very innovative and impressive, but maybe bit too ambitious for game jams. But I respect the effort!

Cap Sized by LarsDu 2023-10-08T07:42:16Z

nimetön.png

LOL this was fun! I wish there would have been little bit more polish, as this game had awesome idea and solid implementation. Dropping the survivors to the ladder was little bit buggy. There were no sounds? The movement of the boat felt little bit too on rails.

@gato @lori-lou @gobigredfan Thank you for your feedback, I am humbled by the positivity!

@markus-sihler initially there was only the morse code, but I thought that maybe some people would prefer translating a foreign language instead of morse code. I also did not want to give away the answer immidiately, puzzle game needs to have few puzzles too! :D

An Afterwork Adventure by Martta 2023-10-20T19:44:03Z

@egormnc what kind of bugs did you encounter?

Quicksand by Deruitda 2023-10-02T21:38:40Z

Is the 2nd level impossible? I did not find a way to get past the lava. Also, in the first level, how would one get the middle part of the level? I tried pressing space and by running on top the sand, but it felt like nothing helped to get over the lava. I am sorry to say that I did not see the game past the 2nd level.

The sound effects were the best part of this game. Gameplay felt nice, but if indeed it is possible to cross the lava somehow, there should be at least some written instructions somewhere. I quess the issue is that I do not know how to dash? Was there some button for it? Or did it somehow activate when picking up boots? I dont know...

I am glad that you too hopped on the Godot hype train! Our 1st Godot game was also very basic, but now we are able to do more advanced games in game jams after little bit practice. Congratulations on finishing a game and learning completely new engine! Only few people can do that!

Animal Teleporting by JamesW 2023-10-04T17:32:22Z

Cool game! Dont have anything to add to the other comments. It was very polished and all the puzzles were suprisingly well thought out and the difficulty was very suitable for a jam game. Maybe the graphics were little bit dull, and sound effects little bit annoying, but those are really minor things as the game still looked good and sounded good.

Inventory Manager by GaryNinja 2023-10-02T21:47:39Z

Interesting time to start learning Unity. But congratulations on finishing a game, or at least some interactive demo! Obviously this game is not going to win this year, but we still can appreciate your effort put in to this. Learning new engine is hard, but I think best way to start learning is to just start publishing games, even unfinished ones. This game is great example of that valuable learning process. We all have been there.

While I could give you some constructive feedback how to make the game better, I choose not to. You already know how to make the game better and what skills do you need to learn next. I will give you one tip: Never underestimate the importance of sounds. For example your mouse makes a clicking sound for a reason: It gives user feedback on what is happening.

Crumble Cave by SpacemanStan 2023-10-08T07:34:04Z

For some reason I do not see any rating buttons for this particular games, but for other games I am able to give ratings. What gives?

I really liked this game and the graphics were quite nice, really liked the lighting. The gameplay was hard and infuriating, little bit like Flappy Bird. :D

LD55 — Summoning

You Have Been Summoned by Frederika 2024-04-22T12:45:17Z

I wish there would have been some sounds. It was interesting story, but to be honest, I hate visual novels. Did not like the graphics either. I however respect this entry, the story was good and implementation was solid.

The Cultivator’s Conjuring Compendium by thormoth 2024-04-22T12:55:00Z

I had a weird bug: All the text disappeared after first round. I was however able to complete the game without any texts! I really liked this game, one of the best games I have reviewed so far! Gameplay was good, sounds did the job and really liked the graphics.

Cast by Shredmer 2024-04-23T14:51:39Z

I see you did the same decision as we to not to follow the theme. :-)

I think the best part about this game is the graphics. I really liked that it looked genuine pixel art and not "fake". I wish there would have been fullscreen button (because the play area was bigger than my screen... :D)

The gameplay bit was bit of lacking. Obviously it was relaxing, but I feel like fun was missing. Music and sound effects were good.

Good entry, I had lovely time.

Blitzkrieg by aero 2024-04-20T12:06:02Z

The graphics are excellent! Really like this kind of simple ms-paint style of graphics. The game however lacks polish and balance. It was too easy just make couple of tank buildings and then the screen became full of your own troops. I also would have loved at least some very simple sound effects, the lack of sounds really hurt the experience. Even a small "tick" sound for spawning a unit would have made a great difference. But the game still feels quite polished, it has nice graphics, I did not see any bugs, there are quite large amounts of features for a game jam game and it is fun to watch. I am even more impressed that this was a compo entry!

Graveyard Kerfuffle by Lone_Wolf 2024-04-20T12:20:12Z

Me thinking about people who review my game and dont read the story or instructions: "OMG people are so stupid and can not read simple instructions."

Also me: *Never read any info about the game and just start playing and get confused and frustrated*

I was very confused about: - Why would I summon enemies that are trying to kill me? - Why is my attack so inaccurate? - Is there any way to win? I can kill Tonttu Toljanteri, or run away?

The customization and online features were super cool and explain the shortcomings on other areas of the game. While you could have dropped the customization and online features completely and focused on playtesting and gameplay loop, it would have not been clearly as cool as this entry! While the customization and online thing did not make the game more fun, they made it super cool!

The gameplay, graphics and sound effects were good, but nothing super special.

Zombie Shock by Skvader_418 2024-04-24T13:22:53Z

The web version instantly crashes my browser when a zombie touches a human. I am unable to use the windows built as I am on Mac.

I really liked that the main menu was very well made and the how-to-play screen was very well made. Many Ludum Dare games tend to fail on those areas!

SaaS :: Summoning as a Service by HolySparks 2024-04-21T09:33:35Z

Really liked the humor. However I skipped reading the fun IT-jargon the boss kept sending my way because I was focusing on ACTUAL WORK. I see what you did there, but I would have also liked to actually read the jokes. Gameplay was fun but the controls felt weird. If picking up items happened with space, why the dropping was different key? Good entry and definitely better than average entry.

Muddy Wars by betovf 2024-04-20T12:32:39Z

Instant 5/5 game because it had Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit!!

I was able to finish the game even though it felt very challenging and required many tries. I really liked the "git gud" aspect of this game, I could see speedrunning this game would be a thing because of the fun drifting and shooting mechanic. I think the graphics and sounds could have been improved some how. Maybe some very catchy music, satisfying sound effects and cool effects would have made the game feel more satisfying.

But really liked this. This game had the best gameplay so far. And It has B-2!

@danonino Well this screensaver is interactive, you press buttons, accumulate currency to buy stuff and gain score. The score is however hidden because I didnt want to show any numbers on the screen.

@klemen Well you summon fish and coral :-)

@simon-rahnasto thank you for your kind words! <3

@its-capp @uthie what do you mean no gameplay?

Ocean Screensaver for Windows 4K by Martta 2024-04-28T10:48:01Z

@jk5000 @geckoo1337 @edj99 Thank you for meaningful and well thought feedback! <3

@jk5000 yeah the feedback for summoning plants is quite small: The plant fades in very slowly and it might happen outside screen. But eventually the screen is filled with colors, so you cant miss it. :-)

@edj99 lol I actually had problems with Windows Defender flagging it automatically as malware. I needed to send it to Microsoft for investigation so that they could whitelist it manually. Can not blame them, a screensaver that launches another .exe which in turn writes files to disk (save game) is sus.

Lexicon by Tatu HeinÀmÀki 2024-04-19T18:54:47Z

I am not sure but naming things around the water might be bugged out? Most of my agents were stuck in the lake and I was unable to give them meaningful names. I was stuck on the ghost town and greet donut quests.

Cool concept. Too much was happening and it was difficult to follow what was going on. Graphics looked great, loved the wolf sprite.

Aldoria's King by Locke8 2024-04-21T18:46:17Z

Good basic game. I got stuck few times, as the battles could easily end up in endless stalemate. The sword skeleton did not seem to do any damage. But it is still solid game with large set of features and it is more or less working as intended. With little bit more polish this would have been excellent game.

Vocatio by Mantsje 2024-04-21T06:10:09Z

Cool game and the gesture detection worked suprisingly well. In the tutorial there was not enought time to learn the spells and I did not have time to read the books in between chapters. Also every levels seems to be "level 2".

Nexus Conquest by Blazejmg917 2024-04-23T14:58:33Z

Wow, the production quality for this game is through the roof. Even without the buying of upgrades etc. I would have been impressed, as it takes lots of time to implement turnbased games with unit and weapon variety. Very good entry! I wish someday I could get 7 friends to join me on my game jams. :D

I got lost in Finland and a local man invited me into his home to teach me how.. by Kaaren Tenson 2024-04-19T18:34:29Z

When I was the title, I was excited and thought that the game will be easy because I am from Finland, but far from it! I was confused what is this "leil" (after googling it is "löyly"?) they are talking about. It was also very confusing to put all the stuff in the löylykiulu. I quess everyone in Finland has made the mistake of putting beer in the kiuas, but the smell is terrible. XD Took me 4 tries to finish the game.

I really loved the voice acting! The initial loading was very laggy and then the letter of summoning appeared I did not know what to do and I was stuck there for few minutes thinking that next scene is loading.

Overall I liked it, 5/5 humor.

Castle Romantik by matt.vnr 2024-04-21T19:02:04Z

3160 points, I quess I am the current champion? :-) Nice game. I wish there would have been more hybrid tiles like the ones with water and dock. Now it felt just too easy to plop every piece perfectly. Reminds me of classic board game carcassonne. But I really liked how polished the experience is and how the game launched effortlessly on ldjam.com.

Ducks on the Road by designernap 2024-10-07T20:41:07Z

This game is something different! Loved it! Great humor and mood and love the sounds.

Pixel Repair Agency by KirLosev 2024-10-08T08:10:35Z

After staying up all night this game was just too much for me lol. However after reading your explanation comment above I finally understood the objective! Maybe little bit too many features for a game jam, people reviewing are often tired and lazy. :D This really reminded me about Shenzen.io and Papers please<3 I really liked the "graphics", great mood.

Camp by csLupius 2024-10-07T21:18:00Z

Little rough on the edges, but good vibes. Some basic sounds would have done much for this game. Also the controls were weird, took me while to realize that I need to click AND hold in order to pick up the bear.

Pest Patrol by p0l4r 2024-10-07T20:42:19Z

The itch.io page seems to down? I am getting error "We couldn't find your page" and going to the https://djanque.itch.io/pest-patrol

The Pasture by Fis 2024-10-08T17:10:43Z

This was super polished games, just what I needed! I have been little disappointed, that there has not been more games like this. For some reason, Tiny Creatures -> Some gross bugs, bacteria and disease. This game has lots of tiny and cute creatures, I loved it!

The 30 lives felt way too much, the games tended to drag on for a very long time. Making losing more slow and difficult however made the game more relaxed and casual <3

Ant Simulation by Suchista 2024-10-08T16:57:38Z

The link is marked as "HTML5 (web)", but there is only download link and no browser version available. I am using Mac, so I can only play web or macos builds.

Medic Mayhem++ by Martta 2024-10-09T11:25:47Z

@mistagiggles The (i) page was supposed to be "Credits" page, but as you can see it was left little bit unfinished... :D

@davidsheadgames Yeah first time making that sort of "lobby" so it is somewhat complicated...

@chocolat-endive What kind of controller did you use? Did you press "Start" when in the map selection screen? Be default P1 uses keyboard and P2 is AI. By pressing Start on the controller, the controller takes over P2.

@runningopenloop do you mean online multiplayer?

Medic Mayhem++ by Martta 2024-10-09T17:29:03Z

@runningopenloop it supports local multiplayer for up to 8 players. But only 1 person can play on keyboard, everybody else needs a controller.

HAIRDIVERS by Surfa 2024-10-08T14:50:52Z

I think this is one of the best games out there for this jam! Excellent quality and smooth gameplay! And really liked the intro!! Hard to say how even improve this game, it is just perfect!

There was some initial lag when playing for the first time. I think it is Godot compiling shaders. Check out this youtube video how to fix the shder compilation problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG-H-IfXUqI&t=437s

HAIRDIVERS by Surfa 2024-10-08T15:45:05Z

Can not be sure, but it was first thing that came to my mind.

Bactoria by GiomomoGiovanna 2024-10-18T13:57:08Z

Managed to win, yay! The sounds and graphics were impressive. Loved the microscope effect. However, to be honest the UI was terrible. If the bacteria would not have been doing their thing automatically, the game would have been unplayable. I felt like the only way to play the game was to stay right next to your base and just spam the collectors as much as possible and then spam the attackers. And if your spawn was so unfortunate, that there was a "poison zone" between your base and the resource patch, you were basically fucked as it was very difficult to baby sit the collectors. Some sort of minimap or ability to zoom out would have made this game so much better. But making a RTS game with nice graphics and sounds is an impressive feat! The hardest part for RTS jam games is always the UI and that is probably why you see so rarely RTS games. It takes way too much effort to achieve Age of Empires 2 level of smoothness and responsiviness.

InFected by Skrelevsky 2024-10-08T14:29:28Z

I can not see the relation with the theme. You can also opt-out of the theme voting if you did not follow the theme.

The initial loading seemed bit long for me and I was confused if the game was broken. Eventually however I was able to start the gameplay and finish the game. It was quite nice game, couple of different enemies, solid shooting mechanics, no apparent bugs and nice audio. Also there was some vague story included. THe difficulty was just right, as it was not frustrating but I was still in constant fear of losing and I would have been dead couple of times without those medkits.

Carbs vs Protein: A Scrote Jenkins Story by Tyler Whitehead 2024-10-07T20:55:22Z

I was not prepared for the AI generated music LMAO (sorry if I am wrong). Seems to be new trend as I have already come across few games with AI generated music.

Fun game and suprisingly playable! Behind the humor there is actually solid game!

Carbs vs Protein: A Scrote Jenkins Story by Tyler Whitehead 2024-10-07T20:56:05Z

I am pretty sure you had fun making this game :'D

Velc-Bros by Smothbreen 2024-10-07T21:07:07Z

Not sure if I just got stuck or if I reached the end of the game?

Really nice game, very inovative gameplay and nice graphics. The art style is very coherent(is that even a word in English?)! I think this is one of the best games I have played so far, because the quality is just so consistent!

Kill The Tiny (Ron's Nightmare) by RaeTheWizrd 2024-10-08T16:54:34Z

The parallax effect on main menu was cool and definitely worth the effort! I liked the MS Paint graphics! They are suprisingly good and the animations were great! Good job on finishing first Ludum Dare game!! I am impressed how good this game is for a first entry! The game is first and foremost finished, there were no game breaking bugs and everything was adequate!

Tiny Fate - Lost Ruins by sketchbookbug 2024-10-08T14:40:34Z

By aiming the pickaxe downwards the characters starts flying around, just like Gordon Freeman with gravity gun XD I think the best part about this game was voice acting! I wish more games would go through the effort of voice acting, it makes the game so much more enjoyable.

When using the web version (I am on Mac so I could not download the game), I could not see how the gravity thing should have been used.

DRONE BRIGADE by Gaalsien 2024-10-07T20:35:47Z

"Easy" huh? Took me few tries to get through the first level and it was intense! Even though my APM was 60 and I have some experience on RTS games this game was difficult!

Was the main menu song made with AI? The graphics and sounds were impressive, were they really made during the jam?

The gameplay was solid. There are plenty of quality of life things I would have loved to have, but it is extremely difficult to have even a remotely working RTS game during a game jam, so good job!

DRONE BRIGADE by Gaalsien 2024-10-07T20:56:47Z

Impressive!

LD57 — Depths

Depth Delver by superpokeunicorn 2025-04-09T05:53:53Z

Game (v. 1.1.) did not start on my Windows 11 computer.

Inner Worlds by ryusui 2025-04-14T09:23:18Z

The lack of any kind of sounds really kills this game. There should be at least some tiny sound effects taken from freesound.org. But the graphics and gameplay was nice. The web version has terrible lag on my machine (Firefox, GTX 3080, 32 Gb ram, Ryzen 9, Windows 11).

Good job! Very solid and cool game, even though had some problems.

Marianas Miner by Coda Highland 2025-04-14T09:18:24Z

This was nice. Almost got to the surface! The web version was quite laggy, so some optimizations would be needed in that regard (running on RTX 3080, AMD Ryze 9 and 32 Gb RAM). Also the respawning mechanic was quite frustrating, as 1 enemy could kill you multiple times without giving you any chance of fighting back if you were out of harpoons or just unlucky, and the lag did not help at all.

The graphics and sounds were nice and I really liked the fact that there were multiple "biomes" that you went through. It really adds so much that there is variety in the looks and level generation at each stage of the game. It really motivated me to keep going to see how the game changes the closer I got to the surface.

Nice game and I liked it! :-)

Dark Depths by buckmeister 2025-04-09T06:05:28Z

Wow, this is game is SUPER COOL! I am big fan of submarines and I just love this game. I think everything is on point. Maybe with some work this could be an actual game on Steam <3

Sound Of Ignorance by xorfe 2025-04-08T07:50:06Z

On Firefox I am seeing only black screen.

Sound Of Ignorance by xorfe 2025-04-08T08:00:23Z

I am confused. :'D I collected 5 runes, then clicked them in random order and then I got stuck.

The art style is really great and it has nice audio, but it is also too confusing.

@nikita-ivanov Sorry I dont understand Ukrainian, tried to study it on Duolingo for while though. :D

Photo Pro Papparazzi by Martta 2025-04-16T06:51:21Z

@coda-highland Lol I am also suprised that I opted out on graphics! I used "stolen" placeholder graphics until very end of the development so I must have forgotten in the submission that all art was remade in the end... Sleep deprivation.... :D

TRENCH by toilari 2025-04-08T12:34:46Z

This is the best game so far! Super awesome! In the beginning the gameplay felt too repetitive and clunky, but it slowly got better as the character gained speed and better weapons. I still feel like the game was little bit too long for a game jam game. However it is super impressive how much content there is! Graphics and sounds are excellent and the boss design was solid! I am impressed by this game. :-)

The shop screen was very laggy for me for some reason. Also I think the first shop should have appeared earlier (I died once before reaching the shop, but still. I almost stopped playing before the first shop)

Thanks for making such a nice game <3

Edge Digger by Arthur Tang 2025-04-09T06:00:49Z

Nice game, I really like the pre rendered main menu :D The graphics were not too coherent, but really nice for a ludum dare game. The controls seemed unnecessarily clunky, I think the movement should have been max 3 buttons but now it was 5. I did not understand what was the benefit of the numpad. Thank you for nice game <3

Asteronaut by Leykal 2025-04-14T10:30:11Z

Wow the idea is great! I have also been thinking about making a flipper game where player is the ball! :D Really cool implementation! I think the collisions could use more "juice" and the hitboxes felt too large, but other than that, great job! Also the camera was maybe little bit too close? It has hard to make decisions where to go as you could not see where things are.

Deeper into steel by Arsmih24 2025-04-08T07:41:06Z

I am stuck in writing the code. I am unable to press Enter/Cancel. Only with the right code you can exit the screen. After getting the code right, I walked through the door, but nothing happened and I was unable to move. Was there more to it?

The graphics and animations are really nice! But the lack of sounds is really depressing.

I see potential here, but the bugs prevented me to of playing or enjoying the game.

Below Birdsong by levi kingma 2025-04-08T07:48:18Z

Nice game <3 Kind of frustrating, but who said this game should be easy. :D The flashlight effect is really nice that glad that you added at least the walking sound. With some polish this would become very nice game: Sounds to every interaction, little bit refined jumping and hitboxes, better support for different monitor resolutions (the text were too small on my monitor), more coherent art style etc.

Could not get very far, I always jumped when the spider came.... :D And when going inside shack, those enemies would just park themselves right outside the door... :D

The Dive by Team 9tailed 2025-04-08T07:31:07Z

I got through the wall, but after trying couple of times I am not sure how to beat the boss. I tried shooting with arrows, drilling and pressing Q. Pressing Q does not seem to do anything. Or am I supposed to just run away or something?

Also standing on the ocean floor was very confusing as you had no perception of movement.

Nice game, but needs polishing. Keep up the good work! Liked this game. :-)

Promise me by X2SHADOW 2025-04-14T09:34:53Z

The web version was laggy for me (RTX 3080, 32 Gb RAM, Ryzen 9 5900HS), but the game was nice. The mouse sensitivity was way too high, and it was almost impossible to play. When sensitivity was set all the way to 0, it was literally 0 and you could not move mouse. When you moved it by 1 pixel to the right, it was so high that tiny mouse movement turned the character 180 degrees. But I was still able to finish it even though the struggles! I think the fact that the wall was moving towards you while reading text was bad design choice: You gained "edge" for skipping dialog. Also it was very annoying, that there was volume slider but no sound!

Overall still very nice game, I liked it. <3

Promise me by X2SHADOW 2025-04-14T10:25:37Z

Ah yes, the ambient music was not audible on my speakers but then I put my headphones on I could hear it!
