LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Escape the Loop by kittymac 2020-10-05T11:53:50Z

Love the idea, but oh-so hard! I keep dying before I know it because the bots move so swiftly. Maybe if you had multiple lives before you respawned or something to ease the shock of getting hit, but there's definitely something there!

Temple of Heh by p0l4r 2020-10-05T10:36:25Z

Couldn't get very far due to the physics being difficult to get a grasp of with the space-y controls. Tried quite a bit because I was actually really enjoying the mood the game sets. Seems completely surreal the moment it starts! The music plus the visuals are really trippy, well done.

Under The Moon by Albuquerque 2020-10-05T12:33:10Z

That moon change scared me when it came out of nowhere! I thought time would be tied to the loops but it seems it's tied to the moon, sometimes I was waiting for a bit for the shop to open for example when on further playthroughs I tried to speed things up. Great graphics! Could really use with some gloomy music. Nice job!

Just Another Day by WongKongPhooey 2020-10-05T12:00:39Z

Not breaking out of routine by choice that's for sure! Got that gameboy feel just right, nice job.

Loopy Hoop by Ratrat44 2020-10-05T10:55:48Z

Took a second to understand the controls but had a lot of fun playing it, at some point lots of health packs spawned nearby in quick succession which helped me get going, until 6 lasers from the other side started shooting at me! Hahaha good times.

Virtual Chicken Staring Contest by TheLonewolf 2020-10-05T10:59:35Z

Chicken wins, I looked away ...Maybe it was just me but when it started getting darker I had to turn it off, too scared of jump scares like those early flash mouse maze games...

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-06T18:54:49Z

That's some free adrenaline in an executable.

Paper Planes by SamDemaine 2020-10-05T11:04:38Z

Perfect presentation, from the fake nes cartridge to the minimalist graphic works and animations, it really feels alive. Controls a tad tricky but definitely gives you some adrenaline. Highscore was 8.

office-hours by jonah 2020-10-05T09:57:30Z

Absolutely adore the sprites & sounds, sets such a good hectic office mood with its frantic gameplay. Who hasn't had that "2 hours left" feeling before?

Multiple narratives add to this and makes it a lot of fun to replay and discover things! Plus, they make you do ridiculous things like deciding to dance the night away in the middle of the room while ...*spoiler*... Well, it was worth a try!

Groovy Loops by Simpathey 2020-10-05T11:50:38Z

That's some funky music! Sometimes I felt bad removing pieces because I wanted to stay in the groove...

Snake Loops by Ividusk 2020-10-05T12:11:49Z

Bouncing around felt pretty good! Imagine with a nice bouncy sound. Does move a bit slow, holding shift helps but does make one wonder why you'd want to go slow to begin with. Otherwise nice job!

CircleRun by PvPlayz27 2020-10-06T20:57:37Z

Very nice game, feels like a racing game. Love that it loops when I miss a gem.

Gravity Loop by Jacob Bernard 2020-10-05T12:40:22Z

Indeed impressive physics! That Z makes you go back to the main menu was a bit tricky at times, I'd perfectly align my trajectory only to end up in the menu, haha. Glad to see more pico-8 jams

Endless Void by FireGamer3 2020-10-05T11:37:39Z

Nice job! Was expecting to find my left socks in the void.. I wanted to befriend the fellow people I saw floating around but alas, haha. Could do with a bit of progression perhaps, like more objects appearing as time goes on?

HarmonyMaybe by Kevin Du 2020-10-05T11:18:37Z

Quite nice! Could really help if the loops were very sparse, with only a few notes every few seconds so that it can build up more, now 3-4 loops is already very busy. But it makes for a nice polyrythmic exploration! Could even be interesting if you could re-arrange existing pieces.

LD49 — Unstable

【night trade】 by jonah 2021-10-05T02:13:47Z

Relaxing boardgame-like experience, the nice music loops settle you in for a longer stay & the game rewards it ending on a high note! Lo-fi 1-bit dither graphics look great! Plus who doesn't like a good bargain?

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

BOMBA LINE by lonewookie 2022-10-21T17:39:48Z

Nice and arcade-y feel, the first time playing I died a few times without really understanding how it happened, perhaps there could be a freeze moment to show the player what went wrong. After that quickly became addictive. Would be great with some music too! Keep it up.

Turnip Terrace by Jonah_SRG 2022-10-21T21:04:33Z

Very nice and clean! Like the simple graphics and colour palette, game allows you to find you own ways of organizing due to it's open ended gameplay. Nice, keep it up!

LD53 — Delivery

Ambrosia by Demure 2023-05-01T10:48:23Z

@peterfiftyfour Thanks, wild was what I was going for! It shows the result of your previous run when you restart, perhaps that's what you're seeing? Also totally possible there's a bug there, didn't have much time for testing sadly!

I ran all of the footage through an old composite video mixer and recorded bits of an oscilloscope reacting to the music to a betamax recorder. I mixed the original footage with the signal coming out of the video mixer to create feedback patterns which serve as the background for the game which is laid on top. The frame buffer is never cleared, creating further feedback effects when rendering the original betamax videos to the game's background.

Thanks for playing!

@jdah That's too bad! I've used Godot 4.0.1 for this, but it's browser compatibility is not quite what it used to be in Godot 3.0, I've already noticed it doesn't run in every browser. I'd have uploaded a desktop version but ran out of time, sorry! Thanks for trying.

@kgurniak91 Definitely some heavy inspiration from those :)

@dzejpi The game itself is actually very simple, the complexity of the visuals are mostly down to the video files played in the background! So as long as the video runs, there's no extra overhead necessary for heavy visual effects. Thanks for playing!
