Nice game! It may be a fun idea to have the bullets themselves loop back with the items flying through the air. Could be a cool thing to try out. Good job!

firegamer3 2020-10-05 02:20

I didn't think of that! That would have been cool to add

smilewood 2020-10-05 02:45

Interesting little shooter. I couldn’t tell if the items were looping directly back around, but I could definitely feel them pile up when I stopped shooting them. It was interesting that even aiming with the mouse I could only fire in the 8 directions rather then just aiming directly at the mouse, that constraint made me think a lot more about my positioning then I normally would in this style of game. This was very well done, especially for a first ludum dare; you even got to sound! Well done!

firegamer3 2020-10-05 02:58

@smilewood Thank you so much for playing! I enjoyed every bit of making this game, even though its super simple

pekuja 2020-10-05 07:13

I like the concept, and the minimal visual style is very cool! I also had a little bit of trouble seeing that the items were looping. As an improvement idea, you could try making the loop a bit tighter, and maybe even showing two instances of the same object at once so that you can see it on both sides of the screen at the same time. As I was playing I was thinking I'd say it's a bit too easy, but I did eventually lose. :D I was managing to destroy most of the items before the looped around many times.

firegamer3 2020-10-05 11:25

@pekuja Thanks for playing my game!yea I probably could have made it more noticeable that the objects were looping around. I probably should have increased the initial difficulty because if you don’t spend enough time with the game you wouldn’t notice that it gets harder the longer you play (the spawn rate increases)

demure 2020-10-05 11:37

Nice job! Was expecting to find my left socks in the void.. I wanted to befriend the fellow people I saw floating around but alas, haha. Could do with a bit of progression perhaps, like more objects appearing as time goes on?

firegamer3 2020-10-05 12:57

@demure Thanks for playing!

zackavelli 2020-10-05 20:37

The music was great! I wish the bullets shot where the mouse was instead of 8 directional. The simplistic art style is nice too. Well done for your first Ludum Dare!

firegamer3 2020-10-05 21:20

@zackavelli Thanks! I am by no means a composer ha ha, I used Famitracker which accurately emulates the sound capabilities of the Nintendo Entertainment System. I love the sound and feel of the music from the NES

roolow 2020-10-05 22:10

The combination of the music, the way the character looks and the inverted star field behind you does a lot with a little. Well executed!

firegamer3 2020-10-05 22:17

@roolow Thank You!

captaindreamcast 2020-10-06 01:58

1359 here, I was rushed by a bunch of basketballs at the end and couldn't make it out without getting hooped.

Very fun game, the gameplay really went well with the theme. The looping items stacking up really added a very organic progression of difficulty to the game, I liked that a lot. I played the controller version, it felt very well to control with the second analog stick, good job on making that feel natural. All in all great entry, great job on that!

firegamer3 2020-10-06 02:32

@captaindreamcast thanks for playing! I’m glad you enjoyed my game!

snazghoul 2020-10-06 06:09

Needs work, atm its very easy to avoid being hit. The projectiles could use a different or additional color to stand out better against the white background, the yellow blends in a bit too much.

krg 2020-10-06 07:19

u can add gun for direction

it will be cool

chickencastle 2020-10-06 09:59

Character movement was good, very easy to navigate around. This probably is what makes it so easy to avoid being hit, as well as the rapid rate of fire. You could possibly add a very short cooldown on each shot to prevent bullet spamming. Nice game!

firegamer3 2020-10-06 11:44

@snazghoul @krg @chickencastle Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!

ssjcoder-yt 2020-10-06 13:53

Really, Really, Really Good Game, I can't describe in words how polished it looked. Somethings to improve would be probably the location of where the bullet goes after you click in a certain location cause it seems to be glitchy as the bullet goes a little below or a little above the desired position or click. Also, Maybe increase the speed of bullets since they seem a little slow like the projectiles that come towards you rather than a bullet. Other than that, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GOOD GAME!

firegamer3 2020-10-06 14:28

@ssjcoder-yt Thanks for playing and giving feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

fermingimpel 2020-10-06 16:03

I like it. Good art and sounds, but after several minutes, it becomes a bit annoying, maybe an option to mute the game would be a nice addition!

firegamer3 2020-10-06 16:55

@fermingimpel Thanks for playing and Im glad you enjoyed it! I added the music last minute so I didn't think I would even have music come submission time, but I was able to add music but didnt have time to put in a way to mute music

sophiemae0 2020-10-06 23:51

I like the music and the design of the main character, it would be interesting to have the different objects flying at you have different behaviors. For some reason the bullets felt off to me and I had trouble aiming for objects other than straight down.

firegamer3 2020-10-07 00:04

Thanks for playing the game @sophiemae0 I was unable to get the mouse to shoot in a normal way, so I left it in there to make it slightly more difficult, however the gamepad/controller controls of left and right stick is not locked to the 8 cardinal directions

ukulelefury 2020-10-07 03:22

:) Pretty simple, and pretty fun! And a pretty good use of the theme! For such a simple concept, it was very fun.

firegamer3 2020-10-07 12:48

@ukulelefury Thanks for playing, Im glad you enjoyed it

eduardo-yukio 2020-10-08 07:10

For a first jam, you did a great job! The music works, the art is cute too, but I think one part that could be improved is the gameplay: it is very repetitive. Maybe if it had a progression system in which more and faster objects appeared over time, it would be more challenging and fun.

But overall, great game!

firegamer3 2020-10-08 12:44

@eduardo-yukio Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the game

satolas 2020-10-19 06:01

@firegamer3 Funny fact because the endless void you did with the objects flying around could be what comes after the end of our game XD We used the same technique with the black lines going up to do the falling effect checkout in my profile. Nice thumbnail (picture/icon of the game) it grab attention. I liked the game but its a bit punitive to loose half HP with one hit tho ahah. +1 for the menu, the story kinda of cool :-)

gamescodedogs 2020-10-20 16:40

Nice work! But I didn't understand how to aim. Sometimes it seems like the auto-aim is on.

theo-ark 2020-10-21 23:18

the aim is kind of weird, i'm guessing there are like 8 set directions to shoot and not a full 360° circle, nice touch having sound and a menu through

kekkodude 2020-10-21 23:48

congrats on your first Ludum Dare!

all in all, it's a good game! could use some polish as many others, but it's a solid piece as is! The music became a bit much after a while but definitely a decent loop!

My biggest issue is that the bullets are being created so far away from the player that if you are to close to some instances the bulet spawn on the other side of what you want to shoot.

I also spent some time realising that you can only shoot in 8 directions, i suspect you have done this to compensate for using controllers, you could keep the 360 degree of freedom if you set up your controller scheme to use an analog stick to aim and a button to shoot, did not get to try it out with a controller so i might be wrong on how it actually works, but that's my assumption and my input on that haha

burnedkirby 2020-10-27 08:25

Neat little endless game where you aim for a high-score. The only problem I have with this is that the difficulty does not go up at a rate that would make this interesting. In fact, it seems to ramp up too slowly and makes it feel tedious after a point. Other than that, good work!
