Haha Snake Loops, that's a hilarious interpretation of the theme.

I realy love the artstyle, it looks very lovely.

The gameplay is a bit monotonous and the game could have profited heavily from some indicators about where to find berries and snake-loops.

Overall nice entry!

Unique take on the theme, and a super charming character and art style!

Some of the hitboxes and such seemed a little bit off, and I think I may have gotten one snake loop stuck in a state where it was "captured" but was still visible.

The gameplay is a bit slow, although substantially better once I actually read the instructions and started using the sprint button!

Great job, especially for Compo. There's an impressive amount of assets and great of attention to detail (like the snake's occasional idle animations --- looking around nervously and adjusting feet).

Impressive visuals, but character is too low and is a bit confusing about what it is to do and how. This lets the gameplay unfluid.

Yeah, I really needed to include an instruction on how to sprint! Completely slipped my mind. I've added it to the top of this page so hopefully the game is slightly less monotonous going forward (press and hold shift while moving)

Graphism are insanely cute, I love this main character in particular, he's so cute ! Gameplay wise, it's bit slow and as other have said, indicators would have helped. There's just one big critic I'll make : when you launch the game, you're given 4min, I jumped in a snake loop of the wrong colour and died, spawned back, 3min, couldn't kill them all in time, 2min ? If all of the previously killed snakes stayed dead, it might be an interesting mechanic, but the counter goes back to zero and I found new ones that weren't there the previous run through so I don't really understand the point of having less and less time, in particular with the world being that big and the colour mechanic requiring to find both enemies and fruits of the same colour. On the same kind of things : I killed 10 of them, went back to the portal expecting a "partial victory" kind of screen, but the game just tells the player that he's not done, which, when you have 10s left and no clue how many enemy you're missing or where they are is quite frustrating.

Overall, this a gem, the kind of games where I find myself thinking "I wanna see a V2 with more time spent on it". Great job.

Bouncing around felt pretty good! Imagine with a nice bouncy sound. Does move a bit slow, holding shift helps but does make one wonder why you'd want to go slow to begin with. Otherwise nice job! :smile:

Graphics are really nicely done; great character! I'm with those who felt it's too slow even with shift, and I think I personally would have preferred designed levels rather than random layouts -- with smaller maps at the beginning, getting progressively more expansive. Great job for a 48hr devcycle though!

I agree with you all about the gameplay - it was down to the wire actually giving this thing a 'goal' and I didn't get to playtest it properly before the compo was over. I realise I probably made the area too big - and I should have definitely sped the character up. And the time you get is actually random between 2min - 6min : I didn't know what would be fair without playtesting it so I hedged my bets lol.

The indicator to tell where snakes/berries are is a fantastic idea, I really wish I could have added that.

But these are all great lessons for next time, and I really do appreciate all of your input - it helps a lot! I certainly know now I need to time manage myself a lot better (and not spend half the time on idle animations, lol!)

I love the sprites for these snakes so much, these game is adorable overall but Oh My God those snakes! It took me a little while to get the controls of this game down but once I did it was super fun, great job :)

I really liked the animations and your art was very charming! Its such a creative idea of jumping in loops. When I first jumped in a purple loop and died I got a little upset because there didn't seem to be any indication that it's bad, but then it hit me that I'm "stuck in a loop" and that was pretty clever haha. Great job for a compo!

I think the game is a little too slow, even with the sprint key held down. Having to backtrack because you missed a snake loop is a bit painful to wait for. Related to that, I wish there was some kind of indicator, be that an arrow pointing you to a nearby loop or a counter showing how many are left would have been useful for knowing how much searching you have left to do.

Having said all that however, the game also excels in other areas! It is a very creative game. The setting, characters, task, all very creative and unique. The visuals are gorgeous. The world is lush and teeming with nice things to look at, and your character is interesting, unique, and its animation is so well done. Not to mention that it's a very complete game and well rounded in all aspects. And in that respect, you did a great job!

It's incredibly cute! I feel like the game area is unnecesarilly big, lots of hopping here and there, much of the time the visible area is just grass and flowers, which also doesn't help orientation. Maybe even increasing the hopping speed (I used shift hop) would help as well. Very good idea is that the berries grow again once picked but in different colour. You hop faster diagonally btw., that's probably unintentional as it used to be :) Very cute stuff, good job! :)

Cute art and great animation! The first time I played something happened early on where my character could no longer move down. I restarted the game and it didn't happen again, though.

Some of the best assets I've seen yet in the compo! Really hit a nice mood with the graphics and the hopping movement. gameplay was a bit slow, but was fun! It took me a while to figure out I could only jump through snake loops that matched my color (maybe I missed that instruction somewhere). All in all, really cute, fun game to play!

Well this art is simply adorable! I also love the novel take on the theme here. :)

I do think the map is a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle too big for the sort of arcade-y style game you're going for here, but I did enjoy exploring around quite a bit! Unfortunately I think the short time limit discouraged me from taking in all the scenery. :(

All in all though, I have little to complain about this one. Nice job!
