Good Job
Overall very fun game! Can definitely see it being it's own project post jam. While some parts were a bit confusing and easy to get lost at, it's very solid for a game jam. Core gameplay was fun, level design was overall good, and aesthetics/sounds were great. Obviously didn't really follow this jam's theme, but no big deal.
I was waiting for it! Amazing, as the first part.
This was very fun, gave me some enter the gungeon vibes! Didn't know I could press the red button until after a couple of deaths
What a good feeling shooter! I also love seeing other projects that use Godot. Seriously, this was a lot of fun.
@tricky-fat-cat and others, from another godot developer :D really good job! This game is insane!
Super fun. Will certainly play more. Thanks for letting me know about it.
What an absolutely amazing shooter. Everything about this is pretty much perfect.
@rgilpt @jvdwijk @dummydojo @valisse21 @bananplyte @josephdevelops @mauricioscherer @head-tilt-games @no-grapes-games thank you for playing our game!
Game feels cool, and music is nice. Level design has some issues, but thats fixable. As for jam theme - it's trash either way, so it's not a big deal that game is not matching it.
Has nothing to do with the theme but oh well it was fun.
Responsive controls. Wonderful pixel art. But the sound of shooting .. I wish it were better
Nice game! Fun gameplay like in DOOM, but 2D
This game is a masterclass in game feel, to be able to refine a jam project to be so aesthetically pleasing is a great accomplishment, good job :D
It's fun but I think the screen is too bouncy.
@animaster @infinitycore @subman @vadzim @darcytimms @marbles thank you.
Pretty solid top-down shooter. Decent sound design, clear visuals, overall feels very nice.
Some issues: 1. Camera made me dizzy 2. I'm sad that you didn't port face indicator of your health, like in first game.
fun and quick gameplay. made me think of nuclear throne, which is very good!
wasn't so sure which weapons i had and switching between weapons on trackpad is hard 😅 would recommend adding switching using q/e or the numerals 123 etc.
and wow did I quickly go through my bullets. shooting is fun in this game!
great art! good job overall!
what a banger!!!
I had a lot of fun with this game! The weapons have a "DOOM feeling", which is a very good thing.
Unfortunately there is too much Shotgun ammo. Because of that, I kept shooting only with this type of weapon. It would be good, if you would limit this ammo, so that the player will use all weapons, because they are fun to play. Maybe you could start with just one weapon type and get the other ones later, so you would have a nice progression feeling in the game.
The feedback of the weapons is good and the overall gameplay is fast and addictive. Nice entry!
5 for music from me love the metal. Game is fun but i would like to see how much ammo i have I like the doom reference as wel
@vlandemart thank you for playing, there are a bug with hud, if you exit pause menu pressing "Rsume" button. @jonah thanky you, I thought about adding changing weapons with keyboard, but didn't have time at all. @kultisti thanks. @rucksack thanks, I wish I could make better balance, but I wanted to be sure that the game isn't too hard far a jam. @aterlamia thank you there is a hud, but it's bugged a little bit.
This game is so fun! Maybe it's just my type of game. One thing I would have liked though is the ability to quick swap my weapons using the number keys. Other than that this near perfect for a Jam game! Really really well done!
Nice game! I enjoyed it overall, even it has some bugs, they are fine. Also I didn't get relation to theme, but maybe I'm missing something. It also would be good if game had some save points, but anyway very good job for 72 hours!
HONK This game is so thicc that it broke my browser. But in all seriousness that soundtrack was awesome! And the game feels really satisfying to play too. A true homage to Doom. Also, is that megalovania? Idk if people have said it before but when you respawn you stay red. Great job! But yea idk what this has to do with the theme lol.
Glad to see HONK™ property is still in good hands! Great job with this one, can't even tell you swapped the engine from the first game :)
Not sure if you remember me from past jams but I surely remember you. I know that a tricky fat cat game is always worth playing! And this game does not disappoint! Clearly a Doom meets Nuclear throne and a good combo I say. My only problem is I don't really see the theme on this one but the gameplay is spot on!
~~This isn't the doom pirate~~, but still amazing game with polished mechanics and an excellent feel. Good job.
Крутая игра, хоть и непонятно как тема джема в ней раскрывается. Спасибо за кайф! Поиграл с удовольствием!
Lovely, consistent artwork, fun to play. I think the camera needs work because it felt dizzying at times (particularly the screen shake).
Nice! You put a lot of work into this! Fun, and great sound and music. Took me a while to get used to aiming but I got there in the end :) Not really sure how it links in with the theme. Sometimes the HUD would disappear, I think its when fullscreen on the HTML5 version. Love the variety of guns, and the shotgun is especially fun to use. Huge achievement for only 72 hours so well done!
So much action! But I think the camera shake was a tiny bit to excessive xD Would have wished full controller support, couldnt play on the controller because having only one weapon is to little.
Fun and action packed!
Awesome! I am looking for interesting projects on Индикатор-discord. So I found ur game! Great job, guys!
@andidebob thank you for kind words, your game also great.
@mr-developer thank you, we thought about some theme related mechanics, but scrap them down.
@mateusboga theme is great this time, but we couldn't find something interesting for top-down shooter.
@quadape thank you friend, indeed, Godot bring a lot of cool things, but I still have to learn many things.
@grizzliusmaximus thank you for such kind words. Did you made a game for LD45 where you play as a bear?
@pune007 thanks! I swear, it's Doom!
@elpadlos тема расскрывается в вечном цикле борьбы с демонами в каждой части игры!
@binaryspark thank you for playing, it's true, we didin't spent much time polishing camera
@mhm32167 thanks for playing!
@malai thank you, unfortunately, this time I didn't work on controls well
@toby1645 thank you for playing
@groggdew thank you!
That's some free adrenaline in an executable. :smile:
That is some good feedback for shooting, have you guys been looking at Vlambeer games recently XD
This game definitely have it's own style, crazy-alien-shooter. Addictive as hell. Awesome graphics and the level design thing where you see the room but unable to enter, this encourages you to explore everything. Good job!
stupidly fun game, great work. loved the weapon variety! really cute sprites. only complaint is that for some reason my HUD entirely disappeared at some point and i couldn't see my ammo/hp which made things very difficult D:
@tricky-fat-cat GMTK 2019 and LD46 were bear games. I was also in GMTK 2020 and of course LD47 but they aren't bear games anymore. would most likely make another bear game in the near future!
Cool game! This is a solid shooter with Nuclear Throne style!
But it has some cons, which I found during 10 minute gameplay session: - Switching weapons. When my machinegun was out of ammo I tried to scroll the mouse wheel DOWN, and nothing happens, so I thought that I had no weapons at all and missed the weapons. But after 5 minutes, I realized that mouse wheel UP switches to next weapon. So please, make the mouse wheel DOWN possible or automatically switch to another weapon with ammo. - No theme matching. I didn't realized what's the point for the theme. Restarting the level? Maybe. But there is no cutscene or text which describes the jam theme. - Hard to find enemies. Sometimes on big rooms I didn't find out why the doors are still closed if I " had killed" all enemies in the vision range. - Background music is silent. The music is damn good, but I couldn't hear it properly cause of it's low volume.
Great game. The screen shake is too much, and the mouse wheel doesn't work in web version (chrome, win10)
Other than that, great entry. Especially love the music track!
Very solid work.... :thumbsup_tone1: well polished, good audio, nice graphics... just very solid work!
:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
Woow really nice game!
The game feel is instantly there, due to slick controls, clear visual feedback, nice enemy design and level design. The art is on point, the music is very good, I would even love it if the volume was a bit higher compared to the sound effects. This is definitely a very solid entry. Great job!
All the inspirations (Doom, Nuclear Throne, Enter the Gungeon, Untitled goose game in the name, Undertale reef, and many more) are pleasant but maybe a bit too much for me.
Bug: When opening the menu, the HUD disappears and don't come back when you go back to the game.
Thanks for the game I had fun 💕
This game captures the doom feeling very well. The sound track is badass, the pixel art nice and the different weapons are well designed. Good game :)
Shooting feels amazing, one of the few games I came back to play again. I do agree I want more instructions on switching weapon, running out of machine gun feelsbadman
FUUUN, I really enjoyed the music, GODOT? YESSS, fast-paced 2d shooter? YESSS, Doomguy but it's a duck? HEALL YEAH :ROCK:
Love this game, there are a few bugs but its understandable as the game is brand new. I really love the idea of the game, its simple yet interesting. You guys should try making this game online or add costume options for characters. Overall I love this game 10/10. I would even buy it if it was on steam.
This game was very well put together!
This team definitely did a great job pulling some familiar favorites into a new package.
The music itself is a true pleasure and definitely keeps you in! :)
Great arcadey shooter. Reminds me a lot of Teleglitch.
Классная у Вас всё таки игра, Артём (:
Game felt super polish and really good to play, no issues with controls whatsoever. Maybe being able to change the amount of screenshake would be a fine addition but I understand not being able to do so under such a low period of time. I personally have no issues with the screenshake but maybe some others might like to decrease it, or increase it haha. Very good game though, loved the polish feel of it!
@demure thank you for playing!
@darkmax14 frankly, I love Nuclear Throne;
@zrepa thank you, we tried our best working on level design;
@nethead thank you for playing, yes, there are a HUD bug related to "Return" button in Pause Menu;
@grizzliusmaximus I think, your game is about a bear, but in a special battle gear;
@hexkritor thank you!
@kuro thank you for playing!
@purpledartfrog thank you Mr Frog!
@doot thank you for playing, we tried hard to deliver best results
@rohezal thank you!
@jamster thank you for playing. You can switch weapons with a mouse wheel
@arad-hamidsamiee thank you for playing.
@donotshift thank you for playing, I wish I could fix all bugs.
@popdaddygames thank you for playing!
@extar thank you!
@ellladee спасибо, мы старались
@patrickrmc thank you for your feedback
When I first hear the music I thought I'm gonna have a bad time but it was not the case :stuck_out_tongue: The game has a good feeling and the bulle bounce gun is really fun. Great Job !
A very driving game. Excellent bullet-hell in the style of Nuclear Tron.
Hey, I got ya on stream, thanks for submitting! Here's the vod if you wanna rewatch it. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/763143712
5 HONKS / 5 in my book. Definitely one of the best games this jam. Truly, a very solid foundation for a top down shooter. The art was fantastic, enemy design and animations were on point, and the guns all handled uniquely leading to some interesting gameplay. I don't have many criticisms about game as a whole really, just some nit picks. * I personally found the sfx design to be lacking and would have enjoyed some juicier weapon sounds (I was playing on webGL, I've heard webGL doesn't like certain sound assets so I figured I'd point that out) * The game was loud at times and could have used a volume slider * When many of the projectile based enemies are on screen it becomes a chore, rather than challenging, to dodge incoming fire. I think reducing the size of certain projectiles would have helped in this regard. * a cooldown indicator for the dash mechanic would have been nice. I have a hard time tracking that kind of data in my head as I play action packed games so for someone like me that almost categorizes a cooldown indicator as an accessibility feature of sorts haha
Overall, great work!
Ha ha nice references ! It's a good game with a good level design.
I thought I had rated this already, but I came back to play it again and realized I hadn't. I think the fact that I came back speaks for itself. Great game, incredibly polished, amazing product out of a jam!
This game was hella fun! I loved every moment of it. A few bugs worth mentioning are the shader error like you noticed and the UI error. However the "juice" in the game makes it feel epic to play. This game has been one of my top 5's from the game jam thus far. Keep up the great work! I will def be playing the game in my free time :)
Great game! Really enticing and well designed. congrats!
Nice game, it reminded me of Nuclear Throne for some reason! I couldn't tell how it fit the theme very much but it was an enjoyable experience. Well done!
I enjoyed playing that little top down Doom ! Graphics are really good, and music and sounds effects are good too ! The shacking camera was a bit too much though... Good game ! But... where the theme ?
Love how you made visual feedback for player actions! And soundtrack! Great entry.
Lots of fun, had a bug with the sound where it was delayed.
It would have been nice if the scrolling for weapons looped, so I can keep scrolling down if I want to.
Well done!
HONK!
HONK !!! But seriously, really fun game. And I'm a sucker for anything DOOM-like so I had to play this. Great pixel art and audio and the game was fun overall. I think the recoil for some weapons was a little too large but otherwise it was really cool :)
@garywiss thank you for playing!
@katamary thank you mate!
@justcamh thank you for playing on stream, it was awsome!
@seth-tal thank you for such detailed feedback. Unfortunately, we started working on sounds last day of the jam and Save doesn't have enough experience in working with game sounds. Speaking about enemies, unfortunately, I didn't have time to balance them better, I understand what do you mean and recognise the problem.
@nekorio thank you for playing!
@tomatolamp thank you for kind words!
@syafire thank you for playing on your stream, it was awsome. And yeah, you're not stupid. ^_^
@r3l0ad1 thank you.
@aemiliu5 thank you. Yes, I love NT, it's a great game!
@wegpast the theme is in description of the game! XD Thank you for playing!
@asfdfdfd thank you for playing!
@raphiell I thought about looped scrolling, but forgot to implement it. Thank you for playing!
@creamybacon2 HONK!
@badpiggy thank you for playing!
Hello, I love the game, it has a really nice music in it, it kinda reminded me of megalovania. Although it's lot of fun, there are some minor improvements that would be nice: the screen shake was kinda too much for me and was making me a little nauseas, the UI for how many bullets wasn't showing on the screen and I didn't know when will my bullets run out. Everything else in the game was ton of fun, love it!
Had lots of fun playing it! Had to suffer a little bit since I was playing with touchpad instead of a mouse but nevertheless had a great experience!
that was fantastic
Really awesome feel to it, and the music was great. Switching weapons was really hard with a trackpad, would have liked to be able to switch weapons with e.g. number keys. Also missed some kind of theme interpretation.
What an incredible game! I loved it, great job
music: starts as E1M1 me: oh, ok then music: goes straight to megalovania me: wait that's illegal!
@nekopi thank you for playing. There are a bug with "Return" button in pause menu, it doesn't show HUD again.
@getsky Thank you for playing!
@forgeronstudio thank you for kind words.
@elemel thank you for playing, we didn't have enough time to work with UX, as I spent about a day writing AI for the first time on Godot.
@somogy thanks for playing!
@a333 hope, you liked it.:)
That's a 5 star for fun and audio right there.
very nice game! enjoyed it.
Hey. I recorded a video about the Ludum Dare jam and included your game in it. If you want to cut your game out of the video, let me know. However, if you like the video, I make similar videos every day. I will be happy if you subscribe. Anyway, I enjoyed playing your game. https://youtu.be/EMxUWdulrFE
I tried it out for the metal soundtrack and wasn't disappointed. The sound is great. The game feels polished. I do wish there was an indicator for ammo. It looked like there was for a bit, till my gun ran out and I had to swap. Then I had a hard time telling which guns were empty or not, frantically scrolling while dodging bullets.
Really awesome shooter with challenging gameplay! Maybe it will be better if can lower the strength of camera shake... ^_^
KILL.jpg
~~Doomguy~~ Honkguy in a virtual cyberspace demolishing devils with the power of ~~friendship and love~~ lead and gunpowders... One of the best game a PC gamer could ever ask forRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Also that little megalovania like jingle in the game's music got me revolving at 512mph for duration of 42 seconds for sure
Great job!!!! Some considerations: Your graphics, gameplay and sound are surprisingly well polish for a jam!! I enjoy it!! The only thing is breaking the game is the camera shaking, omg, i had motion sickness and some dificult to hit the enemies because your camera shake a lot hahahaha, but in the overall your game is really good!!
Really liked! Pretty solid and good to play :D great work
Great game! Those purple demon things really demolish you when you let them get out of hand. Desperatly missing a honk button, thought ;D
Oooooh I see what you've done here with the music.
Seriously, this is a very fun shooter, the graphics are great and the game feel is top notch. Only downside, I'm using only a touchpad so I wasn't able to use another weapon. It would be great to be able to scroll weapons with a button. Aside from that awesome game! Congrats!
Good job on the game! I really liked the gun and enemy variety, and the level design was good, especially for a jam.
My feedback: Too much screenshake for me (or maybe screenshake lasts too long? im not sure). An option to disable would've been nice. I couldn't tell how the game incorporated the theme.
Super fun game to play! Controls are smooth, weapons are very satisfying to use.
Possible improvement: - wheel of weapons could be a .. loop ;-) when you run out of ammo, you would not need to remember in what direction you need to scroll
Liked this a lot! Impressive scale for a jam game, but it felt like that let in more little frustrations that could have been adjusted with smaller scope. It felt particularly easy to get lost, especially early on where there's no clear indicator that the red lights on walls are buttons that open doors (I was thinking in doom mode and looking for a red keycard!) The weapons also felt a bit flimsy - partly because of the sounds, but also because of the delay between striking a killing blow, and having an enemy die. If you're going for a doom-like, you need solid, clear, and brutal feedback when an enemy dies. I'd love to see this refined a bit more!
YES! That was really fun!
@tino thanky you for playing!
@eugenik thanks!
@vlad-mgc thank you for your video, good luck in making more videos! I appreciate your feedback!
@testuser thank you, yeah, I should have add some additional controls on swaping weapons.
@yword thank you, yeah, there is too strong shake, indeed.
@zik you did my day with this image, thank you.
@guilhermesouza thank you, yeah, I didn't spend a lot of time adjusting shake, it's true.
@dizzy thank you!
@lynexis thanks for your suggestion of HONK button! It's the only reason to make a postjam version!
@toulou thank you for playing, this time I did a bad job with controls and UX, true.
@dev-dwarf thank you for playing, yes, screen shake wasn't adjusted right.
@wdebowicz thanks, yeah, I forgot about looping weapons nad a proper out of ammou indication.
@ree-rolph thank you for playing, frankly, if I hadn't spent a day on AI I would have had more time on polishing.
@clemetayer thank you for playing.
:scream_cat: This is amazing! The game is super well polished and there's a bunch of content. I love the aesthetics, different weapon/enemy types and killer music. True DOOM feeling - 5 out of 5.
Well this game surely had everything. Great music, great graphics and a great game loop. Very addicting.
DOOM meets gooose game. You guys should go to Id Software to make this game into DOOM Eternal as minigame easter egg :D Great job, crisp shooting and visual execution. Not to mention outstanding soundtrack. Well done!
Awesome! What a ride. Very very polsihed and fleshed out jam game. Color me impressed. Top down twin stick shooters are one of my favorites and you really hit the mark with your game. Snappy controls, fluid framerate and awesome pixel art accompanied by a metal score. What else can one wish for? I really liked the old school "doom" approach of having ammo and health pickups as well as stationary enemies next to arena battles with spawning enemeies. Really nice mixture. I only really have one complaint and that would be the lack of level variations. The second level is basically just the first one, but expanded with a lot more running around, searching for the next door that opened. That was the only thing that didn't click for me. I usually like my levels with a little more linear progression but that's just my personal preference :) Still one of the best games I've played so far! Congrats
A great, fun and polished game! Just the screen shake was a bit too much for me :D
As a big fan of NT, this really hit the spot for me! I'm very impressed at how much polish you got inside this within the time-frame, super impressive. Have seen it pop up on a few streams so far and it always impresses! Kudos :D
Great entry with fun gameplay and polished quite nicely. Had loads of fun playing it, congrats!
It is a very cool game, I especially enjoyed the soundtrack and the mood of the game.
As it is not a type of game I am familiar with, I will say that your shots bouncing on the wall were fun when there were a lot of space but often made me feel like someone was shooting at me when in close corridors (but maybe, with more experience of these type of games, it will not be as disturbing as there is quite a difference between friendly and enemy fire.
A small improvement would be a sound when your weapon is empty as watching the UI can be hard in intense action moments to know how much bullets you have left and another would be to have the weapons wheel fully turn (ie when switching to next weapon at grenade launcher, getting the machine gun instead of having to scroll the entire wheel in the "previous weapon" order to do so).
I still had a bunch of fun playing the game so congrats on this entry :)
Heya! Thanks for submitting your game to my stream at [twitch.tv/drjavasaurus](wwww.twitch.tv/drjavasaurus) ! I had a lot of fun playing your entry. Great sound, great visuals, great gameplay and tight controls. What more can I say? I had a blast playing this, it is challenging every time and every weapon feels well fleshed out. I particularly love the feel of the rocket launcher ! Well done, great entry !
Wooo! Great game. Controls felt tight, gun mechanics were good (but a bit more punch on the fire/kill would be great), enemies are varied and tactically interesting, theme is stupidly fun. I love it. This game feels very polished for a jam game, well done on the execution, it came together very well. A couple minor comments: Levels might be too big, I got lost some. Buttons could have an arrow or other indication (I missed a few). More variation in footsteps & soundtrack (hard for a jam, I know). Those minor picks aside, this is one of the best LD games I've played.
...when can I have a chainsaw?
wait, this is a jam game? Very well done and polished. controls feel great. Love the bullet bouncing on the one gun. I always turn off screen shake and would like to here as well. Is that a megalovania homage in the music? I love it.
We played this on stream ([twitch.tv/saphirako](https://www.twitch.tv/saphirako)) and had an absolute blast!!! I'm god-awful at bullet-hell games and _still_ I had a great time playing it.
**Things that went well:** * Camera control is well thought out * Movement handles perfectly * Sound has a ton of cute little homages and is overall a bop
**Things that could use a second look:** * You may want to let people know how to play in-game (that may have been what the help menu was for?) * Having audio controls would be kinda nice
Honestly, my critiques are kinda similar to the above ones and all of them are things that are kinda picky for a game jam entry. Very well done!
Solid and fun gameplay. I somehow completely missed that the environmental hazards were causing me damage, even though I was flashing red and losing health; I don't know if that's just on me for being unobservant or if there's something you could have done to more clearly communicate that.
This was pretty fun! I'm wondering how it relates to the theme other than restarting every time you die (which I feel like is a pretty generic feature of games where you can die)? Other than that, everything was on point - the graphics, the gameplay, the music. I loved playing as bloodthirsty duck haha. Good job!
This game has the absolute look and feel of a finished Vlambeer game, if that's not the highest possible compliment that can be given on feedback, I don't know what else I can give you.
I was a little unsure of how the game fit in the theme, maybe I'm missing something but I just saw it as a twin-stick parody of Doom.
HONK! Super crisp.
I experienced some bugs. Bullet count vanishing and reload issues (not sure what key reloads). The dash also kept going in one direction regardless of facing or wasd movement.
Other than that, fuppin' fantastic!
Really neat game, fun to play! Although I'm don't quite feel the "stuck in a loop" thing, maybe 'cause I didn't play it enough. Good job!
Looks like ready to release game. The only problem - no theme at all (at least I didn't find it). But sure, that's not critical, yes? :)
Super adrenalinic game, loved the soundtrack and also all the SFX! Guys, you ROCK! :D
Would love to have ability to change weapons with something else than a scroll, otherwise 10/10
Sat here listening to the menu music on loop.
So good! Had to play the win version as the webgl had some lag on the audio, and I wanted to enjoy the juiciness, Great job all around, felt like a very complete game experience and was very fun to play.
This genre of game isn't exactly my cup of tea, but the execution of this is top-notch! Really nice art and music. I found the gunshot sounds to be significantly louder than everything else, to the point of being uncomfortable, and I didn't see the theme of the jam implemented, but perhaps I just didn't survive long enough! Very impressed at the level of polish on this!
Very nice job. The screen shake was too much for me. Godot is awesome engine. :)
Awesome game, so metal, really fun to play, and really J U I C Y. It takes all the lessons from something like Nuclear Throne and implements them very well. Killing the demons is very satisfying.
The theme is a stretch, I didn't really see the connection, and I don't find it a super innovative game, but everything else is awesome.
Btw is level 2 completable? I ran out of doors and enemies and couldn't get out... Maybe I had a glitch? Or maybe I was just lost and stupid :joy:
Graphics fit really well, remind me of 90s PC games.
Music was my absolute favourite part, you can tell somebody composed it specially for this game (and dropped in a few Easter eggs too ;) ) Say, could you link in the description to all the music used in the game? I'd like to keep listening to it :D
Great job! Fun and engaging, reminded me a lot of Doom / Quake with the weapons and enemies. As others have mentioned the screenshake was a little too intense (made me a little motion sick). I didn't quite see how it fit the theme, but we also struggled there... Regardless, nicely done!
@brookman thank you for playing!
@j0ye thank you for kind words!
@mikoziq thank you for playing our game on the stream. It's an interesting idea to go to id Software with our goose game. XD
@duke thank you for your feedback, I wish we had more time on polishing levels and gameplay, but I spent a lot of time on writing my first AI in Godot.
@freshd thank you for playing!
@joedev thank you, I'm also a big fan of NT, it's a great game and one of the source of inspiration.
@mackandrius thank you!
@vivien-fargette thanky you! Sounds were added in 6 hours before the end of the jam, it's true that there are a lot of problems with them and UX in general.
@javasaurus thank you for playing on your stream, it was great to watch!
@twobitmatt thank you for your feedback. In HONK III we will add something better — a knife. Because peace has never been an option!
@thebooksnail thank you for playing!
@mmiddleton thank you for your feedback. I wanted to make a simple hints, but instead, I spent more time on polishing gameplay in the first level.
@marcmagus thank you for playing. Yes, hazards would have been better, if we had added some simple animations on them.
@angela-he thank you for playing! And it's a goose guy. ;)
@gamepopper thank you! There is no theme, only HONK!
@ruruie thanks for playing. There is no reloading at all.
@guilloteam thanks for playing. The only loop we have, an eternal loop of level restart! XD
@erlioniel thanky you for kind words. Goose guy doesn't need a theme, he needs only his shotgun. :)
@tommy thank you!
@szkocka thanks for playing!
@eldogg thank you, our composer did his best to deliver the excellent music to the game.
@michaelaranda thank you for playing. Sound design isn't good this time, indeed, but we tried our best.
@davidpeterworks thank you. It's true, screenshacke is too strong.
@joleon thank you for playing, the second level is broken, as the portal is outside the level. :( Speaking about soundtrack, you can listen to it [**here**](https://soundcloud.com/sava_t/sets/honk-ii-ost)
@mharring thank you for playing!
Really cool game. The vibe is spot on, with the music, the graphics, and the gameplay. I liked it a lot. There is a variety of enemies and quite some space to explore. I failed to see how this sticks to the theme though. But maybe I missed it. Great entry overall. Good job.
I'll preface this with I really liked it. But I couldn't play for very long, something about the camera movement and/or shake of the camera was making me ill. That said, game was easy to understand and controlled well. Nice job
Fuck yeah! METAL!
Awesome soundtrack! The energy of this game is great and it's very fun to play (even if you suck at it, like I do).
Theme of the jam is rather tacked on :wink:

Wow, that one Sans Undertale sample was misleading - I didn't have a bad time at all :'D
Great soundtrack, wonderfully fluent framerate (especially the html export from Godot... o:), and super fun gameplay! Everything about this is just extremely solid all around!

Fans of the Honk franchise have been eagerly awaiting the release of Honk II. Honest Dan of IGN has had a hands on with the latest instalment of the HONK saga, and was left with his socks officially rocked off. A soundtrack that's worthy of a main stage is the audio backdrop for a classic top down, fast-paced, bullet hell, gun slinging shoot 'em up. Blast your way through two large levels, with 4 devastating weapons at your disposal. Despite little indication on which way to go, the clever use of locked doors allows a natural path to unfold through the demon filled rooms. The sprite work is good, with a great level of consistency between the environment and characters. Small touches of polish, like the animated doors, round off a visually pleasing aesthetic. The Honk fans will be pleased and we're sure this Christmas there'll be many a stocking stuffed with Honk II.
... anyway! General feedback - the rooms where you need to keep killing until a door unlocks could do with a bit more of a visual indication thats whats going on - as part of me worried you just had respawns and I was wasting time killing the respawns. Also, as noted on stream, the screen shakes was a little overkill for me - so perhaps an option to control / disable it would be nice!
Wow this is ace. Love the art and the action is thick and fast. Kinda feels like a finished gaem already. Kudos
A top-down shooter at it's finest. My only complaint - it's seems like screenshake caused by weak weapons is higher than screenshake from stronger ones, feels weird. Anyway, this game is awesome.
P.S. I love all the musical references in the soundtrack, great job!

honk honk, motherduckers
This feels incredibly polished for a Ludum Dare game! Good job, I'm seriously impressed! :O
I liked a lot of things about the game: * movement felt very natural, * music is good, * progression through the level feels good, * numerous weapons to choose from, * plentiful graphical gadgets on the wall.
But I also disliked these things: * lack of checkpoints / long level (I died 5-10 minutes in the game and didn't feel like going through the locked doors again), * aiming less so: sometimes my bullets got stuck in walls and I was unable to hit my targets, * screenshake felt a bit weird: perhaps making it go away faster after shots would improve this? * the music felt like a hasty collection of already existing music, * the bullets didn't feel very powerful, especially the shotgun, * ungrateful selection of colors on the circular pads in some rooms - I thought that different colors wouldn't hurt me,
To be clear: I don't mean any of these things to undermine your game. I just think that if these things were done better, the game would be much stronger. I still enjoyed my time playing, so keep up the good work! :slight_smile:
Great soundtrack and fun gameplay! Get quite hard later on. Maybe a bit too much screen-shake on the machine gun. Anyway, congrats on finishing such a polished jam game!
Nicely made! There is a problem though: after I hit the "send to message center" button on my low battery alert (poor computer), all of the game UI went away! Unsurprisingly I died quickly since I couldn't see my HP or ammo.
hahaha, great fun
Nice game! Reminded me of Enter the Gungeon :) It's a really impressive game for a game jam. One gripe that I had that I really wish was implemented out of everything else would be the ability to see ammo and health. It was a little frustrating when I would run out or get hit and not know how much of each I had left. Otherwise, it was lots of fun to play!
@hakro thank you for playing!
@simplepotential thanks, there is a problem with screenshake, it's too strong right now.
@3ncryp73d thanky you for playing!
@fabula-rasa thank you!

@arron-fowler thank you for playing
@doctorhummer thanks, yeah, screeshacke is a bit too strong, and thank you for such an epic art
@lunareffect thanky you!
@sprotex thanks for such a detailed feedback on the game, much appreciated.
@moritz-jaeger thank you for playing!
@peace-of-cake-games thanks, there are a bug with HUD, it doesn't show up again if you press return button in pause menu.
@pee-thief thank you!
@nareh thanks for playing, there is HUD, but it's bugged.
HONK? HONK! Thanks for submitting it! Looking forward to HONK ETERNAL with Pomo 2020 difficulty -PomoTheDog
OMG this song! Well done the game is very polished, juicy and fun. There was a screenshake sometimes and I did not understand why. Maybe it's a bit strong but it's way better than having nothing at all. I did not finish the level because I died quite far (around 10 min), you certainly already thought about it but adding checkpoints seems like a nice idea. Great Entry!
good game design, had fun playing and like other players mentioned -the screen-shake effect was bit over loaded.
Enjoyed it overall. I got lost at one point but i'm fairly certain thats my fault on me because i tend to get lost in doom too. The music was also great.
Ok this is fun and really polished. I'm not sure I have anything to add that have'nt been said. But it's really a neat jam game. Very polished. The shotgun is really my favorite weapon. :D
Really fun game, I just think the camerashake was a litle to much. Great work
Solid game. Great job guys! Only complaint is the screenshake, I think it's exaggerated. Nice entry, best of luck!
Masterpiece audio, awesome I really like it, please make it more.Chmm, that game is really fun, good for you :).It not reminde me much of the theme.Overall I love your game, it is just masterpiece.
Very cool and polished game! Nailed the game feel, it was fun and satisfying to play. My only gripe was that the level design was slightly confusing and not offering the player much choice. Otherwise, strong shooter game!
@arthurds thank you for playing! HONK Eternal right after HONK III.:)
@darenn thank you for playing. Yes, screen shacke is a bit too strong.
@smiley405 thank you.
@telescape2000 thanks, we tried our best.
@chocolat-endive thank you for kind words. Shotgun must be a pinnacle of satisfaction in shooters.
@alekm thank you for playing!
@jose-bonilla thank you!
@hadik thanks, there is on theme, only HONK! XD
@namidasai thank you for playing, much appreciate.
Your game is very hardcore! It is impossible not to remember Doom. It's a beautiful tribute hahaha. I loved the graphics and also the sound. The gameplay is very comfortable, and the controls respond correctly. The experience in general is very good. Congratulations.
That was awesome! I loved the fat little Honk character, and the gameplay was really fun. Some sections though felt too long, like in the first level there's a big open area towards the right side of the map. I think I spent like 5 whole minutes killing enemies in there, but it was relatively mild action because I had to run around looking for them/waiting for them to spawn.
Regardless, I had a lot of fun with it. I could totally see this becoming a full game if you just polish it up a bit. Nice job!!
This was very well done. I found for my taste it was missing some kind of unique hook or mechanic, something to provide stronger differentiation against games like enter the gungeon or nuclear throne. (Also a bit more of a feeling of progression such as not starting with all the guns would have improved things for me)
[We played this on stream last night!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/773934372?t=01h16m12s)
Gotta say, the amount of visual flair on this one is insane. Super duper well done there! I do wish there was a bit more feedback when you got hit, though. I kept neglecting to look at my HP and would sometimes be shocked to discover how low it was. I also think the level was maybe a *bit* too long to complete on one life without checkpoints, but that might just be because I suck. :stuck_out_tongue:
Overall though, a super solid entry, nice job!!
Very cool! I am not good enough to progress very far, but the style is very cool, as it was top down it reminded me more of GW's "Space Hulk" than Doom.
One minor thing - you can shoot through some walls - waan.jpg
Cool shooter! Nice artstyle and hillarious characters :)
The shakes are too strong for my taste - with my skill level I was missing enemies all the time... But that could be just the matter of my personal experience - I imagine a skillful player would have no problems with that whatsoever :)
Really cool main character :smile:
The camera was a little hyper for me, especially if I played this full screen (probably not supposed to? :smiley: )
Great music, sharp controls, simple enough to understand, although I kinda wished some hints on the controls (especially for pressing buttons) was in the game. I lost the UI at some point so I couldn't see my hit points or ammo any longer. It might be related to switching to a windowed mode from fullscreen?
Happy to have played this in any case!
Fun game and clean art style. The weapons are fun to fire. A nice splatter effect for enemies could be really satisfyingly.
Loved playing this game! I'm not with a lot of time for playing, so I didn't manage to reach the end of it! Really nice experience and quite brutal difficulty curve! I hope to get back to it soon! Everything about the game is awesome and I loved the music and the graphics are super effective! Nice to see some Godot games around. Good luck!
@vphyre thank you for your feedback, we did our best.
@ale thank you for playing. It's true, some events were adjusted badly, as we didn't have much time for it and we wanted to make game simple enough for Ludum Dare.
@copito thank you for playing. Frankly, this game is a joke, it was intended to make this game a simple fusion of Nuclear Throne and Doom.
@coleslaughter thanks for playing on the stream, much appreciated.There is a nasty bug with a HUD and Pause menu.
@johnnysix thank you for playing!
@invader thank you!
@hunttis thank you for playing! Yes, camera shake is a bit too strong.
@rainyday2800 thank you for playing.
@rafaelgiordanno thanks for playing!
Gameplay was tight and fun! Some of the areas could have used more playtesting to keep the pace going but overall it was a great experience.
If I were to change anything about the gameplay it would be to give unlimited ammo. Whenever I ran out of ammo, it just felt like a really unsatisfying stop to the action. I know giving unlimited ammo would make it hard to balance the different weapons but maybe if you make the player have to reload, it would force them to swap to another weapon in the middle of the fight or take the time to reload if they want to keep using the same one. And maybe also include a full reload that takes longer but reloads all weapons at once to keep the action going.
Also the music and sounds were awesome
Very solid entry. I really like the shooting and all the various weapons. Art style is cool and music is amazing (a small part sounds like undertale's megalovania). Overall a really good entry, good job!
Felt like you had the game idea before the jam and tried to fit in the theme somehow after it started. Still excellently done, very fun and polished.
best doom remake 2020 10/10
Really enjoyed this entry! it reminded me a lot to Nuclear Throne, a game I personally LOVE. The gameplay felt pretty fun and the SFX were super satisfactory. My only complain is that I don't see the game fitting the theme too much. Apart from that, good job!
@skleembof thank you for playing, indeed, there are a lot of the problems with the balance. I wish I could spend more time on polishing, but writing AI ate a lot of time.
@coding4rtist thank you for kind words.
@jesus-gonzalez thank you, yes, I wanted to make a top-down shooter this LD, but we couldn't manage to make something interesting related to the theme. Then, I suggested to make HONK II. :)
@666savior thank you for honking and tearing.
@celuloide thanks, I also adore Nuclear Throne, it's a great game and I tried to mix Doom and NT together.
Very impressive for a jam, lots of polish, and definitely Nuclear Throne vibes. Shame the theme connection was ditched entirely (?), otherwise this is one of the most complete entries I've seen this event.
@ditam thank you for playing, and yes, there is no theme, only HONK!
