LD46 — Keep it alive

Is it wrong to feed haterz to my plants? by khaotom 2020-04-21T00:01:47Z

That plant can have all the haters it wants  What an interesting story, and it sounds like there's quite a context behind it  I don't really get the "mood" (lonely/cheery), and the game is pretty challenging (especially balancing sunlight). Most of all I like the animation and movement, everything feels so alive, even the UI. Also the sound effects and music fit very well. And finally that plant baby :black_heart:

Lost Goblins by pndaa 2020-04-25T19:21:13Z

Pretty interesting and innovative puzzle game  Well balanced, good difficulty curve, and quite a bit of content for a jam game! The mood wasn't really there for me, like, animations are a bit off and it isn't really satisfying to win, and not a very "juicy" game I guess. But, I can't define it well enough, so I can't complain :stuck_out_tongue: Good job!

DJ Data Bender by binroot 2020-04-20T23:13:58Z

Heck yeah, that was fun! It's kinda a few good ideas that fit together in a neat package. A fun little puzzle, and also a tycoon, and also a music game? Sign me up! I was playing in the browser, so the loading times were awful, and I just wish that it didn't have to load between levels, otherwise who knows how many rounds I would have played

Prototype Towers by marbles 2020-04-21T08:55:22Z

Wow that was fun and super difficult  It's rare to find a good tower defense game come from a jam. I love the mechanic of fixing the towers, I don't believe I've ever seen something like that in a game before, so points for innovation. Music and sound effects fit well. And difficulty curve is good, and there's just enough content to have a good session. Good job!

Nortan Antivirus by Cambryx 2020-04-21T21:23:11Z

That was fun  The movement is so smooth and satisfying, I didn't know exactly what my goal was, but it didn't matter because just dashing through the viruses was so fun. Cool art style. I like the smooth camera movement. And last but not least the sfx and music were on point, especially the increasing music intensity. Just a very juicy game all around.

My Friend Vac by AgeNtNicK 2020-04-20T23:36:32Z

It's a very cute concept that fits the theme well, and it's fun to fly around  Audio is kinda annoying though, and controls were a bit hard to use. Nice job

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-23T18:32:36Z

Portal vibes! :black_heart: Aesthetically pleasing, audio and visuals super tight, pretty innovative concept, and the bit of humor is perfect  My only critique is that the combat system itself, while innovative, was kinda unwieldy, I didn't feel like I could do a lot with the actions given to me, or optimize at all, I just ended up running and hiding, and using the "smallest" offensive actions I could. Great game all around, super impressive to have done for a jam, good job

Protect the Earth by gord10ahmet 2020-04-20T23:26:07Z

I like that you thought to create two modes, and they both work ok. Shooting was kinda boring, but slicing was interesting, and it actually gets easier to slice multiple at the same time when you let them get closer to hitting. However my main issue was with the audio - blast sounds got really repetitive and annoying, and I was really missing some spacey music. Second issue is that the difficulty/intensity is always the same, and it's just stressful to play like that - I would wish for levels, or waves, or just generally parts of varying difficulty. I really liked the art style. Really painterly (if that's the word?). Good job

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-25T18:12:01Z

Loved the art style and music and sfx. Especially the animations, they made everything come to life. Pretty interesting concept helping out a lich, but didn't really get the setting or the goal, and the narrative was just confusing but sounded pretty I guess  Also I wish I knew how my choices affected the game. Don't know about the theme adherence - what am I keeping alive? That said, I was quickly addicted to harvesting souls, and didn't stop until I upgraded everything to max :joy: Great game though, good job

economy keeper by crazywulf 2020-04-21T00:09:22Z

Super difficult, I clicked as fast as I could until my wrist started hurting :joy: But it was fun while it lasted, interesting concept, and I loved the natural sound effects

HEART LORDS by Spooky 2020-04-22T21:52:45Z

Really fun game! Super juicy, looks good, sounds good, feels good. My favorites are the music, the look of the giant heart, the look of the attacks, and dashing. My only gripe is that it's pretty slow and tedious to defeat the enemies, no matter how many cool double attacks or dodges I did, I had no agency over the fact that I had to end up punching each of them many many times  All in all, good job!

KeepAlive by DrEvilBrain 2020-04-27T08:39:35Z

When I saw the title, I was hoping for a network setting, and the game delivered  Probably the most interesting interpretation of the theme I've seen so far. Difficulty curve is good, I feel like some love was put into it. I'm not a fan of the graphic style, but I guess it's a limitation of the TIC-80, which by the way, I have no idea what goes into making a game for TIC-80, but mad props for that. Music is top notch and very fitting for the game. Good job!

Catastrophic Calculations by PeteyWoufes 2020-04-21T10:12:09Z

Cool idea and good execution  Buttons are satisfying to press, and I was missing some equally satisfying audio feedback. Also some dramatic music would do this game a favor. I didn't really have much agency, since a right answer only adds a second to the timer, and it takes at least a second and a half to type anything in, so those poor dinos were doomed from the start :skull_crossbones: RIP. Because of the difficulty, I'd like to be able to play with just my keyboard, and also any chance to increase the accessibility of a game is good to take  Good job!

To the Moon and Back... by ETdoFresh 2020-04-20T23:00:33Z

I really liked the hand-drawn-like art style. Other than that, this game didn't do a lot for me, I feel like it may be better suited to a younger audience. Most of all, I was really missing some audio here, I can very much envision how some music and sound effects would do wonders for this game, especially in accompanying the emotional roller-coaster of the story.

All that said, I really admire that you filmed yourself through the whole process, I can only hope to be able to do that in the future

Slime Mama by Jack Kaloger 2020-04-25T18:31:46Z

I loved this! :green_heart: Fun, tight platformer, super juicy, sounds and looks good, perfect all around, and also pretty new concept. Very good job for making it in a jam! It's a bit difficult... I replayed it 5-6 times, but I wish I could've seen Slime Mama prevail :broken_heart:

KIA by CristiNemrak 2020-04-20T22:42:54Z

I really want to try this out, but itch link doesn't work. Will there be an in-browser build available later?

KIA by CristiNemrak 2020-04-21T21:33:29Z

Pretty interesting concept for a game, and I love bees  I actually found the controls pretty darn intuitive to use. The music and gameplay are pretty relaxing, I think I could zen out with this. It's too bad there's a time constraint, which is pretty impossible to beat even when stressing about it, so my only suggestion would be to make this playable endlessly, without the pressure. Good job

Balloon Balloon! by JetTheSimon 2020-04-21T10:22:48Z

What a beautiful game to have made from scratch in such a short time  Really good execution. My favorite is the graphics (I wish I knew how to make a game look like that), and sound effects and music are charming, and the physics and way the characters break things around the house are charming as well. Bonus points for having more than one level. More bonus points for making it a local multiplayer game, there are way too few of those these days. However, being alone inside and all, didn't really have anyone to play with, but it was possible to play alone after practicing contorting my hands to weird positions. It's my only suggestion, maybe with very little effort you could make the controls more playable for a single player? For example WASD+LCTRL and IJKL+SPACE. Cheers! :purple_heart:

A tale of Rebirthism by Pomo 2020-04-20T22:38:15Z

I love these little touches that give the game life - different voices / text colors / personalities for characters that would otherwise be so simple - it reminded me a bit of Thomas Was Alone even. The story and humor, mixed with the surreal setting, made the game give off such a weird mood. It also got me invested, so I'm sad that I wasn't able to get past the second encounter with Might Opponent :tm: and never got to see whether they ever got those sweet n̨͟u̢͜ǵ̷͟҉g̶͠e̷̶̢̧t͝s͏̶̕͢.

Keep it Alive : Gate Crusher by Robert Meder 2020-04-22T21:39:17Z

Super tight and super simple, yet such an interesting idea for a game  I liked the art and sfx, and music was very fitting. All I missed was a tiny bit of tutorial at the beginning, at least about the controls, it wasn't super obvious how to play, I died 4-5 times til I got it

Terraforming Mars by AronMS 2020-04-20T23:48:19Z

I appreciate that you basically made a game within a game, I know that can be difficult  It was really gratifying to see my plant thriving in the end. However I think two things would have made the game loads better. First, platforming is all about jumping so jumping needs to feel super fun, one specific example is being able to control the height of your jump. Second, I was really missing some audio, specifically some background music (switching between two tracks based on the scene would be cool), and sound effects for things that should feel gratifying (leveling up your plant, and jumping between platforms). Sorry for all the suggestions, good job on your game!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Rail by reheated 2020-10-17T16:54:59Z

Super cool game, simple but cool :)

Minimal art style and everything is pleasant to look at, lots of juice, sound effects are perfect, music is super cute.

Truly nothing really negative to say. Initially I though the direction switching and shooting aspects don't meld well together, but the shooting adds a dimension of hectic-ness that wouldn't exist otherwise. Waiting for the "train" to get to the "end station" while you are already surrounded by enemies and wondering if it'll get there in time - honestly, pure adrenaline.

Great job on this game!

P.S. Thanks for the kind and detailed feedback on OnRail :purple_heart: Interesting how our games are totally different, yet the interpretation of the theme and main game interaction are the same

Stuck In Paris by CocaPasteque 2020-10-11T14:17:11Z

Simple and short, but pretty fun and funny game :) It communicates well the difficulties of navigating a roundabout :joy:

It's basically one of the ideas I wanted to make for this jam, just Belgrade instead of Paris :)

I like the simple art, looks very clean.

Speeding and crashing (and losing) is so satisfying, I had trouble progressing, I just wanted chaos :joy:

Good job!

Cursed Labyrinth by marbles 2020-10-12T16:17:59Z

Very cool game, I love games where you have to do some outside-the-box thinking. It kinda reminded me of Candy Box in that way :)

Really upholds the theme in a creative way too.

Music was a little too aggressive to bear for such a long time.

After I got the good ending, the bad one seemed super upsetting :scream: But that's a good little bit of writing I guess :)

BULLETS FROM THE PAST by Cambryx 2020-10-12T19:36:27Z

I loved this game!

Using your past inefficacy to produce a bullet hell of your own making is super clever. And it makes the difficulty curve natural (and makes me feel like I deserve it).

I like that the sound is synced up with the rhythm of the game, that's real classy.

Everything looks really pretty and juicy, and it's just satisfying to play.

Good job! :)

DEATH STRING by miziziziz 2020-10-18T11:50:11Z

Quite a fun and innovative game :)

First of all, I like how you interpreted the theme in the most literal way possible, yet still created a novel mechanic out of it.

The game looks good, and especially sounds good, I really enjoyed the music and all the weird sound effects.

The loop mechanic is fun and super satisfying to use. I like how simple and intuitive you made it to use this mechanic that's pretty weird when you think about it. Although, I found myself feeling out of control at many points - I really wished I could also hold the left mouse button to reel the string back in when the loop is closed. Sure, it would have made the game easier, but I think it would have been EVEN more satisfying and fun to play.

I usually don't focus on bugs with jam games, but the screen shake made it impossible to play in the later levels, so I could never beat the last boss :/ That's one bug I would really consider ok patching, even after the submission time has passed...

Other than that - great job on this game! :purple_heart:

Oplo by Harry Alissavakis 2020-10-12T19:55:06Z

Everything is super juicy and satisfying in this game --- the graphics, the animations, the sound.

It's a clever way to interpret the theme and the first time I've seen that interpretation during this jam.

I had a fun time learning how to get good, and getting through many levels (not all of them unfortunately, but I'd say the difficulty was good either way)

It's VERY much like a mini version of Crypt of the Necrodancer, just without the rhythm part. Which on one hand is great because that game is a masterpiece. On the other hand, I felt Oplo lacked some innovation to set it apart, just a little bit.

Great game, good job! :)

Hyperloop hell by Aterlamia 2020-10-16T14:56:21Z

This game looks and sounds amazing!

I love the character art and animations. I love the background and the feeling of being on a moving train. And I love the music.

After I was done with the game, I came back one more time just to look at the background and listen to the music a bit more :purple_heart:

Connection with the theme is not super strong, but that's fine. The story is ok but a bit silly. And the gameplay is a bit simple, I mean no problems with it, but I would have wished for a less linear experience with this type of game.

The end was a bit of a cheap shot. How am I supposed to know which wire to cut? There were no previous clues... And then it was frustrating to come back to the same point. And then was even more disappointed that the "good ending" is there as well, no twist or anything :( But I get it: game jams are limiting.

One frustrating detail was the conversation between the two enemies: too fast if you want to read it, too slow if you want to skip. In games, I'd say ALWAYS make the text stay as long as you want, and always progress with an action (X button in this case).

Good job on this game :)

a Damsel a Day by alec 2020-10-11T14:56:38Z

Pretty simple and a little bit repetitive game.

But the music and sound effects, and art style and animations - all of it is just gorgeous!

Good job :)

Time Crash by Gonzalol 2020-10-12T20:07:53Z

Interesting, super hectic and stressful take on memory games :p I like adding a time limit to "smart" games for a little bit of extra challenge.

It had me playing for quite a few levels.

At some point I got exhausted and had to surrender :joy: I wonder though, can you beat the game? I didn't really understand the bar or numbers at the top. But it definitely got more and more difficult over time.

Good job!

Defuse in under 5 by Darylsteak 2020-10-11T13:01:23Z

Hey cool game!

I played it over and over again, initially not even knowing the mechanics of how I would beat a level (or the "E" control), but getting better and better each time.

Def not the first game to feature the concept of replaying your past actions every time you die. But the first one I've seen that's so hectic (under 5 seconds), and it takes the fun (and stress :D ) to a new level.

I wish it wouldn't give me a random level each time I started over, but actually had some pre-designed progression of levels, perhaps each one getting harder. This way, no matter how much I played, I probably missed some level :/

Good job!

TimeSplitters 4 by BlueCalx 2020-10-16T16:03:23Z

Ok first of all kudos on designing a novel puzzle game. There's a good number of levels, and all the one I've seen are very well designed.

But man, this game is extremely difficult  Or at least, level 5 is extremely difficult, fun enough to keep me trying for about 30 minutes, but I never got past it.

Anyway, it's a good kind of difficulty, so I've no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the controls are unintuitive, and make the game really unintuitive to learn to play. I spent way too much time on level 1, just because I never realized I wait (T) while the previous timelines play out, but instead always just tried to break time (B) right at the start.

Obviously, it could use a tutorial level, just to explain the mechanics (or at the very least, tell the player step-by-step how to beat level 1, then let them take it from there). But I'd like to point my finger at the biggest problem: understanding the "T" control. It has two functions in two different contexts (while replaying it means "step forward", and while playing it means "wait"). So I have two different suggestions to try: I would either introduce W for "wait", or just remove the "wait" functionality completely, and remove the need to use it. Or, if I was even braver, I'd remove the "step forward" functionality and make the previous timelines start replaying one step per second automatically after rewinding!

Other than that, the game looks great and sounds great. I was listening to the music for about an hour (as long as I played) and didn't get bored.

Very nice interpretation of the theme as well.

Great job on this game! :)

Beyond Death by Trypants 2020-10-11T12:13:15Z

Beautiful game, perfect marks all around!

I like the idea of death as kinda resource management. The game is perfectly long enough and with enough content, and the difficulty is very good (though maybe it should be a bit harder).

The game world is beautiful, it was a joy to explore, and you can feel the amount of effort and time and attention to detail that went into designing it and creating the art.

Music was good and well-fitting. But the thing that amazed me most was the fact that the visuals and music change depending on the amount of sacrifices performed. So much so that after winning, I played through again just to see all the different levels of gloom. I wish I could give marks above 10 just for that.

The intro cut scene was spot on, it explained the mechanics and showed off the world very well. The only thing I missed was a Victory scene and Defeat scene, but that was just lightly anticlimactic, no big issue.

Good job! :)

Anne's Topological Adventure by schsam 2020-10-25T22:08:04Z

Wow what MINDBENDING puzzles! Not like any other game I've played on this jam for sure...

I got stuck at Torus-2, I don't know why, that one broke my brain :)

I love that the menu page is also the intro level. But it left me with the expectation that other levels would be like that as well... I was really hoping for some more story filling the empty blue space in subsequent levels

I was really missing some audio, at least some music, I really felt the vacuum :/

Anyway, very clever interpretation of the theme, and VERY clever game in all.

Good job!

Orbiting Defense by Vimlark 2020-10-18T11:24:24Z

Hi there, semi-junior jammer here!

I watched the devlog and I'm inspired by the process. Having the will to scrap your project many hours in, in an effort to find the fun - I would never have dared to try something like that (but next time I might  )

Also interesting that you use the same beepbox/bfxr combo that I usually do, it's nice to have my choices validated.

You left me wanting to try a solo compo game for the first time, I just have to get over the art hurdle first.

As for the game -- well, as you said yourself, it is wonderful to look at. Super juicy, both the visuals and the sound effects. The Earth animation was worth it, in my opinion.

I also do think you found the fun in the end, even though it was a challenge. Perhaps the control scheme is still slightly awkward, but is real easy to learn, after which you definitely feel in control.

Great game! Will keep following you in future endeavours :)

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-11T12:46:38Z

Cool, challenging, innovative, funny game :)

Pretty simple, in terms of game play and graphics, but it does everything very well. Easy to grasp the concept, and super fun in all its hectic glory.

Didn't play for too long, but I enjoyed the whole time, and was satisfied when I lost :p

Perfect difficulty, and the difficulty curve is great.

Music is kinda calming for how hectic the game is, but still fits somehow.

Innovative? Definitely.

Good job!

Hiccup Time by Somogy 2020-10-12T20:19:21Z

What an interesting game! I found hiccupping yourself slightly back in time to be such a clever and also funny concept.

I understood how to use it to my advantage, but unfortunately it was just too difficult for me to get very far in the game -- I had to surrender after a while

Which is a shame because from what I could tell, there's quite a bit of content in the level, for a jam game, and it seems well designed.

Maybe hiccup mechanic should be slower? But monsters are definitely unwelcome extra difficulty on top of everything :joy:

Good job on the game!

LÖÖPS by Tamail 2020-10-12T20:51:15Z

God, why are these cookie-clicker-like games like catnip to me???

Well, I hope you're happy, I upgraded everything fully, and I don't feel anything anymore :joy:

Cool game, plus cats, what's not to love? Definitely the most literal interpretation of the theme I've come across, and I ain't even mad.

Didn't discover any secrets tho :/

Good job! :cat:

Train Troubles by MashUpGames 2020-10-23T14:07:58Z

Hey, Ollie had a pretty similar idea as we did with our game OnRail

I watched the "Making Of" video before I found the game, and then came to try it.

So, I have nothing negative to say about it, it's a beautiful game :) You pretty much hit the bullseye on mood, aesthetic, audio and visuals - went a bit different route than we did, but I'd say you did an even better job.

I especially like the consistent visual style, very clean, cartoon-ish, geometric, and reminiscent of actual model train set toys.

Great job!

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-11T13:53:21Z

Awesome game, so metal, really fun to play, and really J U I C Y. It takes all the lessons from something like Nuclear Throne and implements them very well. Killing the demons is very satisfying.

The theme is a stretch, I didn't really see the connection, and I don't find it a super innovative game, but everything else is awesome.

Btw is level 2 completable? I ran out of doors and enemies and couldn't get out... Maybe I had a glitch? Or maybe I was just lost and stupid :joy:

Graphics fit really well, remind me of 90s PC games.

Music was my absolute favourite part, you can tell somebody composed it specially for this game (and dropped in a few Easter eggs too ;) ) Say, could you link in the description to all the music used in the game? I'd like to keep listening to it :D

Lucky Lefty Loves Loops by TheBookSnail 2020-10-16T14:09:42Z

Ok definitely the best implementation of the theme I've seen, since you're stuck in a loop in more ways than one.

The replay mechanic/animation is super cool, kudos on the technical aspect of that.

Not suuuper fun to play since the mechanic is just destruction derby, but I definitely gave it 4 or 5 runs.

Great animation and sound effect, and also could have done with more juice (particles / screen shake / etc) and more satisfying race mechanics (different acceleration curve / higher max speed / drifting / different collision physics / etc).

Also I love that they're snails :D But I found myself swearing at the "enemy" snails

Good job!

Delivery Boy Forever by civmaniac 2020-10-16T16:25:47Z

Oof, full marks all around!

Man, I was almost getting bored with the game, and I was wondering like "man, why is this music so bleak? why is this game so simple and also bleak?" And then I got it :D And I loved it :purple_heart: Really glad I kept my patience.

Nice character art, nice music, nice dialogue. And I love the [avoiding spoilers] main mechanic. Kinda tripped me out and left me thinking about how our own real lives are probably the same way

Really interesting interpretation of the theme too.

Great job on this game!

P.S thank you for the kind and detailed feedback on OnRail

Unloop by Sebastian Caron 2020-10-23T08:27:26Z

Good level design, and good number of levels - I got through quite a bit, and I didn't even beat the game. I got stuck at the first one with the collapsing platforms. My favourite was the first vertical one where you had to fall down - nice bit of "show don't tell" there.

I'm not super into the timed level aspect, I get you did it for the theme, but it gets a bit frustrating in any game.

Super kudos on the technical side, for implementing several tiny game mechanics in the different levels - invisible/collapsing platforms, etc. It's the kind of thing that has kept Mario games fresh for decades.

Except for the music, mood is not really there. The character has a club, but throws balls for some reason? And nothing is really juicy. In a game about jumping, jumping should be really satisfying. Sound effects would also be appreciated.

As for the music, it's really nice! Did you make it yourself?

Good job on this game!

Loop de l'eau by jo_ann 2020-10-23T09:09:51Z

Great interpretation of the theme!

The mood / visuals / animations / music are TOP.

As a game, it was very hard to play. I understood it eventually, but the control scheme is simply bad. Reversed mouse-Y and non-reversed mouse-X is just so weird to use, you should either reverse X or even better un-reverse Y. Honestly could have just been WASD controlled. And on top of everything, there was so little control, I was always fighting against inertia and gravity.

That said, it was super satisfying when I was able to collect other droplets.

Good job on this game! :)

Danger Beat by rhoff95 2020-10-11T14:42:56Z

Hehe, I super enjoyed playing this, even though I don't usually gravitate toward bullet hells :)

Really creative use of the theme, well executed rhythm game, and it sure isn't like anything I've played before.

Beautiful visuals, nice mellow beat.

And was pretty obvious and easy to learn what to do. Also I really love that you lose progress instead of dying instantly, it makes the difficulty curve really organic, it makes your success based on how well you're doing, and taking hits not as frustrating as it would normally be.

Once I heard the smooth AF guitar come in, I knew I had to beat the game :D And even when after I figured out that I'd pretty much done everything there was to do, I kept playing for a while just for the fun of it :)

I think it would be even smoother and even more enjoyable to play with analog stick support, or perfect to play on mobile with that on-screen virtual analog stick.

Good job! <3

Loopfield by MikoziQ 2020-10-16T13:57:11Z

Interesting take on a classic genre, pretty simple but pretty fun to play, at least for a little while.

I like the sound effects and menu music, but was missing some in-game music.

Strong suit is that it's so accessible and easy to control that it required zero tutorial.

Good job!

Bjorn to Dance by Tomh 2020-10-11T13:13:33Z

I didn't really get the difference between dream and waking sequences, it all seemed like the same game to me. Also the Simon Says mechanic left me not really getting anything new from this game, but that's just me

But the concept of a viking being so obsessed with dancing is fun, and the art is really good.

Good job :)

In The Loop by Luc-creationallabs 2020-10-11T15:05:38Z

Man, full marks all around :)

The mechanics and physics are so weird, but they're so satisfying to play around with, and I loved getting good at this game.

Sound effects equally weird and satisfying, fit in really well.

I love the combination of simple tight art style and super juicy elastic feedback on everything.

Great difficulty curve, great number of levels, and level design.

Great job! :purple_heart:

P.S. the end screen is super cute and clever

Nice vibe, cool circle of life concept.

I can appreciate the technical challenge of having multiple mini games within a jam game (I've done it only once), and on top of that they fit in the concept well.

Music within each section is A+ and fits really well, and when I realized each section has its own theme, that's A++.

The only negative feedback I could give is that the first section is too hard - you really want people to see the rest of your beautiful game, and it seems hard enough that a lot of people would quit without seeing the rest. And in the same vein, maybe the third section could pose a little bit more of a challenge.

Good job :)

Ok this game was super hard, but I enjoyed figuring everything out, and beat the game eventually :)

What I didn't enjoy is that is has some super frustrating aspects too. Mainly, I dislike that my first 10+ tries I don't even have enough time to beat the level, and I lose without it being my own fault. I'd call this "the bad kind of difficulty" and bad design. It should be possible (difficult, but possible) to beat the level on the first try. Right now, sure you have an interesting mechanic, but I'd say it isn't worth killing the fun so much.

Also one more frustrating detail - it's not always possible to use the projectile (weapon 2) and I can't figure out why... Does it recharge on killing enemies, or on cooldown, or...?

Anyway, this game sounds great and looks even better - I love the psychedelic vibe, reminded me a tiny bit of Hotline Miami. I was very much missing music though, some great synthwave would have been perfect!

The katana (weapon 1) is super satisfying to use, and the slash attack looks amazing. This game would do even better with even more juice.

Good job on this game! :purple_heart:

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-11T11:23:31Z

Excellent fun and addictive game! I restarted countless times, but could never get past level 3 :/

Interesting concept, but I never really understood the mechanics 100%. Each level has some value the top counter (1-2-3-4) has to be on in order to progress when you leave the level, right?

I wish leaving the level at the wrong time didn't bring you back to level 1, but actually just made you replay the current one, that made more sense to me.

I also wish dying wouldn't instantly bring you back to level 1, but maybe 3-4 lives per game would make sense for this difficulty.

The dark/eldritch pixel art style is beautiful, and the outlining made it super clear what was the visually most important stuff on the level.

THE MUSIC is probably my favourite part. Probably kept me in a trance, replaying more times than I normally would have :)

Good job!

I like the simple visual style and sound effects. And menu music was interesting, but I was missing some in-game music as well.

I don't feel like it really has a lot to do with the theme, it's more like you're stuck in a circular force field, but that's just my take

My circle shrunk a few times even though it wasn't hit by any enemy, so I guess there's some glitch there... Also I wish there was some way to make your circle larger again, otherwise you just become a sitting duck after a while.

Good job! :)

Collateral Damage by Michael Parrish 2020-10-11T13:23:08Z

Wow, what a simple but fun game! Very well executed :)

Graphics and sound effects make it very evocative of old arcade games.

Definitely innovative, it adds something that classic orbital shooters don't have. It's the fact that every shot you miss is a setback. Leading to a weird awkward emotion of "oops, I really funked that one up...", which made me laugh out loud at my own failure several times.

Really difficult game, I could never successfully hit any enemies on the innermost ring. But I sure had fun trying :joy:

Good job!

Aztec Ride by Idan Rooze 2020-10-11T11:05:56Z

Cool game, fun to play, more than a few times through. Really consistent art and music and mood. A little over 3000 score is as far as I got.

Innovative definitely, I've never played with a mechanic like this.

Only when I look at the stills, I realize how much attention was put into everything, the train, the background...

I wish there was some way to recover people that I lose, for example more people get on every time I get to the end of the loop, it would probably keep me engaged for even longer than it has.

Good job :)

Qnight EveryDay Quest by Tomycase 2020-10-11T21:15:48Z

Ha! What a beautiful innovative clever game.

And it's connected to the theme in a clever way.

Really like that it takes a few instances of super outside-the-box thinking.

Took me 5 days to complete :)

The only thing it was missing was some music.

Good job!

iLoop - the 2D endless runner game of a robot stuck in a loop :) by melvinng 2020-10-11T14:23:55Z

Such a cute game :)

I didn't really see how it fits in with the theme though, and not super innovative IMO, but that's ok.

Music and graphics both beautiful and so nostalgic <3 And the sound effects are so cute

My fave is definitely the background :purple_heart: It's a shame you didn't include voting for the graphics.

There's some glitch where everything slows down for a second or two, except the enemies, making them attack you unfairly. It would probably be worth fixing somehow.

Good job!
