Hi! I had a similar take on the theme! I like the simplistic graphics of yours, and the idea that you can adjust the difficulty at the beginning. .
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD47 → Defuse in under 5

Hi! I had a similar take on the theme! I like the simplistic graphics of yours, and the idea that you can adjust the difficulty at the beginning. .
I love the art style and the game play. Had been waiting for this one since I saw it yesterday.
The first couple of plays were more like muddling through, as it isn't immediately clear what will give you the information you need. A short tutorial where you have very easy levels would be great.
Art is lovely. Love the style and the colour palette.
Music is appropriate and fun and the sound effects are just enough.
All in all good job, well done
What a cool concept!
After 1st death you immediately know what's is going on, and I was like "Hell yea!".
Visuals are simple, but well connected. Music isn't annoying, gameplay is nice and even maps differs for each play.
From bugs (or maybe it is design decision), door opened with pin code doesn't open in next iteration.
Cool game concept! The graphic style looks good too! I wish there were more mechanics, like pulling a lever with the mouse or something. But I understand, limited time to make a game :)
A fantastic concept! Would definitely be interested to see where this goes if you develop it further!
Setting the timer to 0 is excellent fun
It is great fun and I like the idea that it gets easier the longer you try. I also had to try what happens when the timer is 0. :D
An amazing little game! I had fun setting the timer to 0 as well :D I just have two criticisms, the first one is that the 2s look a bit too much like Zs and that made it a bit confusing the first time. Secondly you can diffuse the bomb just by opening it up and guessing a couple times until you get it right. Other than that though it's a great game
This is super cool!
Loved it, simple yet complex enough.
super solid concept well done g
Awesome game, I really like it. Only downside is that after a few loops, the current character is visually lost in all the ghosts and I had troubles recognizing who I am controlling right now.
Well done. Readlly fun game with nice concept. As an improval you could add a key to reboot the puzzle and give the possibility to the players to enter the codes with the keyboard too (using keyboard AND mouse is a bit tedious). Thank for your game
Awesome entry!
It's a very fun little game and the slider to make it harder/easier is a nice addition! I also tried to set the timer to 0... Lmao...
The art is nice and the audio is good.
Very good game! Great job!
lovely style and cool gameplay!
Awesome game. Fun to play, fit with the theme, great graphics.
This was perhaps the coolest game I've played during the last 3 Ludum Dares. It took me a few too many times to realise what was going on, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!
The game is awesome! Perfect for the theme. I love the rewind sound.
Very nice game, great art style and cool idea! It'd have been nice to enter the code via keyboard, but other than that great entry!
Very cool. Fun to play, simple but smooth graphics, and just a solid concept. I did encounter a bug where the bomb kept exploding endlessly after I already defused it, probably some timing-issue? Just reloaded the page though and good is~
Cool concept, great art (and really slick palette choice)
My high score is 9440 because I'm a badass who doesn't even need time powers and I just defused it first try by guessing.
I've seen this concept of using your ghost clones to progress a level done before, but this iteration of the idea is *really* solid. The short timer for the bombs keep you on your feet and make for some short and snappy play sessions.
As a bonus, the graphics, music, and sound effects are really pleasing to look and listen too. I also particularly like that you can see the formula use to calculate the score at the end.
As for negatives, I believe the rest of the comment section has taken good care of the matter.
Overall, very good entry!!
I really enjoyed this one. Cool pixel art and I liked the overall feel of rush during playing.
Nice idea and dynamic gameplay, cool. Well done)
Incredible art and very cool concept! Love it
Wow, very nice! Art, music and sounds are all solid, the game is very polished, I really enjoyed it! But, you have very long seconds, my friend
Amazing! I liked the art, I've seen the idea a lot though, but your game definitely does it the best.
Really enjoyed this one. The graphics and music was spot on, as was the gameplay. Thank for the game!
I got stuck, but it was really fun! Congrats for your game :D
Really great concept
Oh my, this one is hard. :D Very nice game, I loved the graphics, the controls were nicely smooth - great work!
Nice game! It was hard but fun to beat (I played with laptop touchpad). Maybe if you could enter the numbers with the keyboard?
The visuals, although very simple, fit really well on the game. Music was a bit repetitive, but I guess that was the point :D
Great entry overall :)
This is really fun man. It's really fun to have the characters stay in specific places for later runs to try and get the combination for the bomb. My high score was 2662. The slider to adjust the difficulty was really cool as well.
Right, replying time.
@fpoli Thanks for playing! I feel that alot of people had the time-loop-and-then-some idea. In my case I tried to go with a simple and simplistic one. Hope your game goes well too.
@kazatan Yeah, muddling through was kind of the idea. Partially because I felt the mechanics were simple enough that a few play throughs was all that was needed, and partially because the game is just really, really short once you get the hang of it. Thanks for playing and leaving feedback!
@bukkaketears Yep! The codes for both the doors and the bomb are randomized each time so as to provide some replay ability. Also glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!
@zimny11 I agree, originally the pressure plate for the door was gonna be an axe instead, where you had to grab it and smash a door down. But after considering that the player had to run to, then back, and the very tight time constraint, I felt a pressure plate was more logical.
If I continue the game in the future there will defo be more mechanics, but for now, this is all I could fit. Thank you for playing and the feedback!
@infraxion Never did that until now, enjoyed the impromptu flashbang. Thank you for playing!
@probeprob Glad I could destroy a few ears by accident. Thx for playing and leaving a comment!
@toby1645 Thanks for playing and for telling. I never realized the 2's looked like Z's until now, but now that I look at it I definitely agree. As for the just-defuse-at-start part, I didn't know how to fix that. Maybe I could force the player to go get a plier instead of a code.
@wtfree Thank you! and thanks for playing.
@bicheste Glad you liked it, and thx for playing!
@ondy1985 That was a problem I didnt end up managing to fix. I could have rigged up a system where the colour changed but I wasnt sure if that would help, and I was under real life time restraints (not just LD, have exams) so I ended up not doing anything bout it, sorry. Still, thanks for playing and the feedback!
@shubart I was gonna add the reboot key and I forgot! As for the keyboard, wasnt sure how and unfortunately I was out of time. Nonetheless thanks for giving feedback, and thank *you*, for playing!
@fingamer The slider was based on an idea I had awhile ago (and still plan to use in it's original form some day in the future), and im glad you liked it! TQ for playing and the comment.
@rinish Thank you, and thanks for playing!
@gonzalol TQ for playing and leaving a comment!
@xedur Glad to hear that, I honestly wasnt too sure how the game was gonna turn out but im happy you liked it! Thanks for playing and commenting about it!
@lady-stardust Thanks for the comment! Glad you liked it!
@lexi Keyboard code input was an idea but sadly time constraints meant it was one of the few things that got cut short. Thxs for telling about it and for playing!
@iak That's an interesting bug, never had it before, probably very rare. May or may not look into it. Thanks for reporting it and for playing the game!
@3mpty What the fu-. How the hell? Even using the same technique I cant get that score, props to you. Tq for playing and the comment! (srlys tho how da hell)
@perpetuareality Thanks for the feedback! My last LD game was long, reaaaaaaaaally long even tho it was somewhat well polished. Reception was generally alright but it came 300 or so (players didnt have the patience to get through it). Thus this LD I set out to do the opposite, a really short, solid game.
From the comments atleast, it appears to have worked out. Also glad you liked the formula bit. Thanks for playing!
@spacecadet Thank you! Thx for playing and the comment.
@rrawrr TQ for playing!
@dodidouda Happy you liked it, thx for playing!
@jima Indeed, as it turned out later on Construct 2 was a liiiiil slow in terms of counting.
Eh, better more than less, keeps up the tension. Thanks for playing, and the comment!
@beavergames Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the game and thank you for playing!
@m0dsat And thank you for playing, and for leaving a comment!
@javicepa Where exactly did you get stuck? I forgot to add a abort button to send you back to the menu so reloading would be the best option I guess. Thanks for playing and for telling!
@vollfeiw Thank you!
@tamail Tried to nail the controls this time since they were a major pain in my last LD + this was a time based game. Glad you liked it and thanks for playing!
@croxel-studios A laptop? Christ I didn't think of that, maybe I really should have tried harder to add a keypad thingy. Thanks for telling about it and for playin!
@badpiggy Thanks for playing and the feedback piggy! I'll probably start rating and playing other games tomorrow (exams, still in the middle of). Gl with your entry too.
obraz_2020-10-06_133911.png Am I the first one to break ***10k barrier***? :sunglasses:
It turns out you can just ***guess*** *the order* after the first death. Before that, that possibility is blocked, and I think it should remain that way until getting the code. I discovered it by accident - at first I wasn't sure what I'm supposed to do, so I just started randomly cutting the cables.
After that, I've played the game properly for a few times and had ***lots of fun*** :) I really like the gameplay and the aesthetics. Good job!
Nice game overall. I succeed to make in 3 sec, I'll try to do better.
Only 2 things: - The number 2 in in the level don't look like the number two in the pad. It looked like a "z" in the level. It was confusing for me at the begining. - It is hard to press "e" then take the mouse.
@suchista I think so! Jesus people are better at this than I thought. yeah, the guessing the code problem was a thing, and I couldnt think of a way to fix it without blocking the possibility (I actually kinda didnt wanna, but looking back at it, I should have). In the future I might add such a block though.
Thank you for the feedback and for playing!
@pndaa People are starting to bring up the '2' problem, at first I didnt think this was a problem but it obviously is one, after the jam ill probably end up fixing it.
As for the 'e', agree, should have made it something like space, probably will after the jam.
Thanks for playing and the feedback!
Fun and intense little puzzle game. Enjoyed it!
Very nice... I've been keeping an eye on the screenshots you've posted to the feed over the weekend and was looking forward to playing this. It works really well. The ability to adjust the loop time is a nice touch. I'd like to see some more obstacles and level progression, as far as I can tell each turn is randomly generated with the same number of things to do... but it's very cool. Would be nice if I could enter the codes in via the keyboard rather than having to click them - since time is of the essence!!
Very nice game! The concept is really cool! A feature to accelerate the time would have been great but it's still really cool though! :)
Really cool looking sprites and colors, the gameplay is tight and responsive, great job
i spent waaaaay more time than i should playing this game! is addictive!
Small, but fun and robust game with your distinctive style and high-quality.
Liked this a lot! Reminded me a bit of McPixel. The lowest amount of time I managed to complete in is 2 seconds. Good work!
Well executed, loved seing my past ghots screwing up badly xD Wished they were more levels
very good mechanics but really hard xD
OMG! I was so hard for me, even when thousand of my copy bodies I stuck where the real me in that mess, but that was really funny at all.
Very clever! A good mix of doing some strategy while also trying to be as quick as possible on each run. I'm playing on a touchpad and it was very very hard to be able to enter the code in time.
nice mechanics!
and high replayability!
great job!
Works great ! I had a small bug where a code-door diden't open on the replay but it's a very nice game congratulation
Great game. Super simple and straight forward, really awesome game jam title. Gameplay, audio, and sound all fit what you were going for.
nice concept. Little bit tough but very cool. Good entry!
Lovely idea, only a few things I can add. It's hard to notice yourself between all the clones and it's a shame there is no anti-bruteforce mechanism. Not sure if some levels can be completed on lower times. Great execution on the theme!
Good job making this game! The game is simple but very well polished. I like how just 5 seconds can bring a lot of tension to the game.
hah, really well executed. i was a little lost with the numbers and playing on a laptop but its really well put together! great job!
Awesome game! I love the formula at the end, awesome touch. Great use of the theme and very well polished!
Cool game, but the fastest strategy is to ignore doors and buttons - just cut the wires from the start.
@superunknown TQ and thanks for playing!
@garys Yeah, ideally there would be more variation but real life stuff cut down my jam time, so here's what came out. As for the keypad, also didnt have time to implement :<. Thank you very much for following the posts, and thanks for both playing and feedback!
@vaulkhar-alexis You can actually change the time of the loop! At the starting menu there is a slider below the title, that changes the how long you have until the bomb explodes. Less time will also give you a higher score! TQ for playing.
@fishmasterino Thank you for the comment and for playing!
@glayson Well im happy you played my game alot, although be careful not to get addicted! lmao, jokes aside thanks for playing and for leaving a comment!
@tricky-fat-cat Thank you! ill be sure to get to your team's game tomorrow, wish you well!
@ree-rolph 2 seconds is actually pretty good! I even I struggled at 2.5. Also barely remember McPixel, it's somewhat old now isnt it?. Thx for playing!
@malai Hah, sometimes my past ghost even screw me over as well. There were times i see my ghosts standing on a pressure pad, then the moment I walk on a platform over spikes they walk off! I originally intended to have better level generation but in the end most was hard coded :<. Nonetheless thanks for playing and leaving feedback!
@vodkhard You can always turn the slider to the right to give you more time! If you dont know where it is it's under the title in the starting menu, below the numbers. Thanks for playing and for telling!
@zrepa Yeah that is a problem, when you have so many clones you cant tell where you are. Maybe in the future ill make the colours different. Thank you for playing!
@neontropics Im so sorry for not considering laptop users! This was never a problem before so I slightly overlooked and didnt get to implement a keypad system in time. In the future ill defo also be working with laptops in mind. Thanks for playing and for telling me about it!
@jonah Thx! and thx for playin!
@holyperceval That's strange, probably a slight bug. Ill try to fix it post jam. Thanks for playing!
@thomas-carey Thank you! I really hoped everything would come together nicely, and in terms of bugs, this one has the least thankfully.https://ldjam.com/markdown TQ for playing and for commenting here!
@stadoblech Thanks, and thank you for playing!
@int "Not sure if some levels can be completed on lower times" That was a bit of a problem, and in the end I couldnt fix it because the scoring system was added post level gen system and it was pretty late in the jam. /shrug .Nonetheless thanks for playing and for the feedback!
@gamedev-and-architecture Thank you for playing! I wanted a fast short game, and so 5 seconds was the limit!
@mog13 As with all the other laptop users, im extremely sorry for not considering touch pads might be used and not adding a keypad system as a priority. Wont happen again I promise. Thanks for playing the game and leaving a coment!
@geryon-games Thank you! Both for playing and the feedback!
I like the graphics. Can you tell how you recorded player movements to do shadows in construct2? did you used dictionaries?
@kohcepba True, absolutely true. But in the end I just left that in. Partially because I wasnt sure how to block it until the end and partially because I was ok with players just cheezing it, because if they like it, then sure, why not?. Thanks for playing!
@watermelonandme Basically: player movement and animation was recorded every tick and then added to an array. When player dies, make them semi transparent, turn off movement + collisions and make them follow the array. Make a new player at spawn location and respective array then have the player control that instead.
Rinse, repeat.
Most of the code was borrowed and modded from here: https://www.construct.net/en/forum/construct-2/how-do-i-18/replay-meatboy-55099
GL!
@darylsteak thank you
A really cool concept. Just a small note, by having just 3 wires, you can get a good score by simply brute-forcing the wire combination ;)
This game is really great. Our game for the jam uses a similar concept so that's cool. One thing, are you supposed to be able to interact with the wires without having to move there? Because that's what happened with me. Also, after completing the game it didn't show me my score and the audio stuttered. I really like this game you did a great job. The sprites are good, the music, and the gameplay.
Duuuude i didnt expected for such a great game. The sound is on point, its really fun and challenging! Really great job. One of my favorites so far
I like your game,it is well made and it was really fun :)
why u not made a tutorial really grat game
One of the cleanest games I've played so far! It could work really well as a full game. Great work !
Nice idea, ghosts of your previous run helping you going further in the loop, I love it ! Nice graphics and music and sound ! Great job !
Very good game ! 5 seconds is short ! >.< sound design is awesome !
Really good game
Heya @darylsteak , For such a small game, this game has a LOT of things going for it. It's astonishingly good, very tight, very nice! I have never thought it would be possible to inject so much juice into a puzzle platformer. Let's go over the things I like:
1) All that small touches. The meaty slightly audible ticking for every second. Sound effects. Jumping. Snipping. I think the sound effects really brought the game to its maximum potential and you've definitely created really good sound effects to bring the game to an amazing shine!
2) Simple gameplay, single level, master to perfection. An interesting twist on puzzle platformers. Its initial difficulty could stem from the puzzle aspect but as players learn the level and become adept, the focus can shift towards speedrunning.
What an innovative, interesting design here!
As for nitpicks, where I have any:
1) I do not have anything strongly negative to say about this game. If anything, I wished there was a better tutorial? But even that is really pushing it (because you put the tutorial in the description).
I think this game is amazing, and well deserves the attention it gets. Very nice!
This was absolutely brilliant! Took me a minute to understand what to do but when I found out I thought it was genius! Great game you smashed it!!
WOW ! At first i was confused at what to do and started guessing the wires, but then i suddendly saw a second figure supidly jumping up and down and suddendly realized how the game works. I´m amazed. I had to reload a few times, but in the end managed to defuse the bomb.
An amazing game! The visuals and style are beautiful, audio effects satisfying, and the concept, although not too original is fun as hell. The game is understandable after one play without the need for a tutorial. It's thrilling and extremely action-packed for such a small game. I don't know if I have anything bad to say.
Excellent game! I love the idea and how it is presented, the graphics are great and the audio too !!
This game is LIT, o lve how you work the theme, the music and the mechanics, everything fit so nice! Great game!
Your game design amazing me!! what a good entry man!! congratz and make a complete with your ideia please! hahahaha
Nice job! I love the idea and the graphics are nice. I actually got my best scores by setting the time really low, something like 1 sec, and then just guessing the order of the wires. Also, it was, uh, interesting, to set the time to 0.
Great game with stellar graphics. Your sound effect are also very nice
The sound effects fit well, the art made really fit with the humor of the game this was a really good entry! It was also a lot of fun too, really good job! I couldn't find any bugs when playing maybe the only thing was the door doesn't open for the current loop if you put in the key-code to open it in a past loop, which I thought was weird, unless maybe it was the intent.
Fun game. Really enjoyed watching all my failed past selfs frantically run around. Only thing that could be changed was that sometimes I barely got to the code parts and it didnt finish the animation so I was unable to see it on the next life
Really great interpretation of the theme with nice looking artwork and sound design. I found it humorous you left a glitch in where you can set the time to 0 and watch the fireworks :joy: A very simple game that I could play for a good chunk of time. Well done!
SOOOOOOO GOOD if there were more levels, i would be adicted on it
played quite a few rounds of this, very fun! my best score ("legit") was 5100 or so. I think everyone else has probably said all the obvious good things (fun gameplay, simple concept, obvious how the mechanics work, lovely aesthetics, nice graphics, music+sound fits well).
being able to cheese the wire cutting and get 10k scores is obviously a bit silly; it's a 1/6 guess. if you added a 4th wire (even if you only have to cut 3) it makes it 1/24, which is a reasonable amount less cheesable, and I don't think would hurt the gameplay.
more random rooms/etc would be cool but I guess hard to get something robust within a jam. I didn't start getting duplicates for my first few runs though, so not an issue as a pick up and play once thing, just makes it something that won't be as fun to come back to ^^
I think the timescale being a bit longer and there being more things to do could make it more interesting. I think having played a fair few times, I've settled into the strategy of "sit my dude on each of the things and wait for the timer to go to 0", which is less fun than frantically running around trying to do multiple things in one life (which I think in a lot of maps doesn't actually save you any lives even if you do it perfectly, and loses you a bunch if you mess it up).
Good polished game with nice graphics that I enjoyed playing
This is an awesome concept ! It's fast paced, it's very replayable because you can change the time, and it was fun figuring out the level at first. If you had more time, it would be cool to see more levels.
This looks great and sounds great, overall it's a tight little package. I'm not sure if this is universal but typing the numbers into the keypad and then xing out was especially hard for me, could be tightened up.
Very interesting puzzle game! Simple graphics are perfect.
Took many tries to finally enter all codes on one of the levels but nothing happened.
This is a good, intense game. Solid in every aspect. I won games by guessing at first, but the intended way is more satisfying.
This is swish as all get-out. Movement is tight, mechanics are easy to grasp and fun to master, graphics are pleasing, and the audio is excellent, in spite of how minimalistic everything is, plus it matches the theme perfectly to boot. I'd have liked to see more rooms to try and solve, but even here there's plenty to try and master.
Best score I've gotten so far is 2860 or so on the default ~4sec time, and I can definitely see room for improvement with that score/time. Excellent work!
Well, that was a lot of fun :D
Very tricky the first time you play and cool after you figure it out
Loved it. Really fun, would love to see more levels!
Love the gameplay! Love how you need to find the clue to unlock something and to defuse the bomb.
Also for lolz, I set the timer to 0 and exploding stuck in a loop happened xD.
OH WOOOW, without doubt it's one the best games of this jam, I could play it for hours without noticing how time passes. please consider making a full game out of it. with more levels and maps. great job, nailed the theme, smooth gameplay, barvo!
I love the idea ! You really nailed the theme :) Love the shadow of the player that builds up with each round, that's really clever :) The timer makes me panic and I didn't get far but I will be coming back to this game and will diffuse that bomb one day ! Also - really like the colour palette you used for your art :)
I really like the game ! Very easy to understand/play, the music is also very cool and it fits the theme perfectly !
Nice job !
Coolest game of LD47 so far!
Awesome game, perfect implementation of the idea. Love the graphics(used the same color scheme at my last LD). The only thing missing is more levels. Other than that awesome job!
One on my favorite game so far. I saw you progress with you blog posts during the jam and I really like the way you polished it. It's nice concept that suits perfectly the loop, very clever. Well done.
Ok, we have one of the best, (according me :D) of the jam. It's minimalist, but very efficient. Good job! More levels with more mechanic could be add (but we'll lost the minimalist way, you'll tell me :D).
Good Game  but need to add a menu and restart the loop button its irritation to reload and sometimes it doesn't work then you have to go and delete cookies for it to work
The game is so fun to play! I really think you can add some more levels and maybe increase the difficulty so it wouldn't be that easy to win and release it!
Exelent concept! Exelent work! I love that trill effect, which force you always move, giving almost no time to think. It would be better, if after every restart(not page refresh) will new level(now I've got 3 times in a row one level and because of that I came to idea of bruteforcing 3 wire system:) ). But in overall, it a great game!
Great entry! Got a highscore about 4k, would've loved a shortcut key to restart quickly.
Well done! I really like the concept and mechanic.
I love it
Really nice graphics and polished in all aspects! ^_^
Really fun game
the concept is great. I play many times. Tks for that amazing game. Fast and inteligent
Awesome game! You should add another type of obstacle imo, and make levels and time a little bigger.
Cool game but could have used more levels
This is a really solid game! Well done! :)
Loved it, very simple and fun mechanic. I didn't realize e was used for interact at first, but it was better after that.
It's actually very similar in concept to my game (which is a shoot em up version). Great job!
Super fun and cool game! Love the execution of the mechanic and the fantastic aesthetic, I really enjoyed it! Nice work!
Cool game! I love the idea of the ghosts who show you what you did previously so you don't run back and do the same tasks again. I definitely think (if you wished) you could add more levels and make it into a real, quick and fun game! I love this entry.
This was a fun and fast paced game! I think we used the same color palette lol. Good work!
Awesome game! Played it a lot, sadly it has some pretty annoying bugs with bomb explosions, but anyway great job!
Nice clean artstyle, easy to learn and fun to beat. I love that you can just keep blowing yourself up trying to guess the right combo too!
really fun! Took me a little while to figure out what i was doing but once i got it i loved
I like the simplistic art style and puzzle mechanism as well. It is a good approach on the theme.
I like it! Also, i set "Bomb Time" to 0 and broke it. sorry.
A simple and short puzzle game, and yet very effective and fun to play ! The art style is also on point and fits the game really well
It took me a while to understand the concept (initially I thought that the ghosts are just a visual thing - like in some racing games), but at some point I finally understood the mechanics and appreciated it :) Nice and polished game, the implementation is vely clean. As a fellow Construct user, I wonder how are the ghosts programmed...
Jesus, right, reply wall round 2
@hardscore Yeah, I wanted to have 4 wires but I didnt know how to randomly shuffle letters, so I ended up sticking with 3 even though it could be brute forced (better than confusing the player). Thanks for playing!
@pikachurian I think you can actually, even though it was not intended. Might actually be a slight bug. Also, thanks for telling me about the bug at the end there, and thanks for playing!
@esseisso TQ for playing and glad you liked it!
@karin-g Thank you and thanks for playing!
@krg It felt it was simple enough to not need some and I just didnt add one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Thank you for playing!
@azsteak I miiiiiight continue in the future, although havent yet with any of my previous jam games (maybe after I get the hang of Unity) Nonetheless thanks for playing and for leaving a comment!
@hoolop Thank you, and thanks for playing!
@zero-ichi Thx! TQ for playing as well and for leaving a comment!
@steventus Steve! Will try to get to your game soon as possible. Im glad you liked it and thanks for leaving the detailed feedback!
@yeti-kid Thank you! Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it!
@clode I see, guess I really do need to work on added a "send back to menu" button. Thanks for playing and the feedback!
@frankarlovic Thank you for playing! Some people are suggesting tutorials, but honestly im leaning more towards hinting at stuff then letting the player go wild.
@archock34 Thank you, and thx for playin!
@keldy TQ! and thank you for playing.
@guilhermesouza I might or might not! depends on the future (and after I learn to properly use Unity). TQ for playing and for leaving a comment here.
@jcourt Yeah, that was a tactic some people figured out and honestly I was alright with it (though in the future I miiiiight prevent this by only allowing this after getting the bomb code). As for the setting the bomb to 0, didnt think of that and well, if you like flashbangs have fun I guess. Thx for playing!
@theseusinabottle Thank you! Thx for playing as well.
@heyllopotato Yeah, the key codes are randomly generated each time so you cant use the same one. This is meant for more replayability of sorts. Thanks for playing!
@sirred Ah, I guess the animations could be changed or made faster then. Thanks for leaving feedback and for playing!
@matchaflavor The "set timer to 0" thing was absolutely an accident! (though I probably would have left it in anyhow). Still, thanks for playing and the comment!
@victor-vk If I ever continue this game in the future ill definitely give it better level generation! Although I cannot guarantee that will happen :/ . Thank you for playing!
@indivicivet I absolutely agree with the last paragraph, in the end I didnt manage to get enough things for the player to do in a single run, and in hindsight there were things I could have added for this. As for the 4th wire, the only reason I didnt add it is because I didnt know how to shuffle letters instead of numbers for the sequence generation, and I didnt wanna confuse the player between the code and the bomb wire sequence.
As for level generation, if I get back to this than yes, but that would probably be a while off since im currently still getting the hang of unity. Thanks for playing and the nice feedback!
@samdwester Glad you liked it, thanks for playing!
@snowinn Only if I continue this in the future sadly, bogged down with both studies and learning unity. Nontheless thanks for playing!
@sean-holloway Dont worry this was a problem for a good portion of the players. In hindsight this was a bit of an oversight and I should have prioritised adding keypad support than leaving it out. Thanks for playing and the feedback!
@marbles What exactly did you do? Because the codes are randomized each time, although maybe there is a glitch somewhere. Thanks for telling about it and for playing!
@coderaurus Glad you still enjoyed playing through it normally even after cheezing it! TQ for playing!
@cliffracerx Agree with the "more rooms" part, ideally most of this would have been randomly generated, but in the end I hard coded most of it since I was worried about it kinda bugging out and giving impossible levels. Still, thanks for the comment with all the feedback and thanks for playing!
@saurterrs Happy you liked it and thanks for playing!
@crazi456 Maybe in the future when I have time ill remake this game in unity with better level generation. Thanks for playing!
@neithr Yeah, lots of people tried that surprisingly. Hell I wonder why I didnt think of setting it to 0 myself. Either way, thanks for playing!
@arad-hamidsamiee Maybe, currently I have exams and afterwards I need to both get the hand of Unity and prepare for further studies. But if I ever get the chance I might make it into a proper game! Thanks for playing and the kind words!
@karolina-lewszyk Thank you for trying out the game and for planning to come back! I used a colour palette I found online: https://lospec.com/palette-list/slso8, credits to Luis Miguel Maldonado.
@shyrro Thank you, and TQ for playing!
@hengen Happy you thought so, and thx for playing!
@meskaline Yeah, the lack of levels is really a limiting factor for this game. Might fix this in the future with proper level gen depending on the situation. Also, it really is a nice colour palette isnt it? Glad to know you used it too. Thank you for playing!
@julienlussiez Thank you for playing, im glad you liked it and thank you so much for noticing the blog posts!
@tipyx Im happy you though so. One of the goals of this game was to be as small a package as possible while packing the biggest punch. More is less, if you will. And although I didnt quite achieve this im still happy people liked it.
Oh yeah, and the levels, no absolutely it needs more levels, hell they were suppose to be randomly generated but I never got to it.
Thanks for playing and the feedback!
@pradhuman Yeah, I really regret not adding a reset button at this point since some people as it turns out need to reload the page a few times. Tq for playing and the comment!
@gudner You can actually increase the difficulty somewhat by decreasing the time limit via the slider. As for the levels and a full release, if I ever get to it. Thank you for playing!
@food-lovers There are actually different levels, but the level random generation thingy is waaaay too stiff so I might rework it in the future. Thank you for the feedback and for playing!
@jusw85 Got it, if I ever get back to this game id definitely add it. Thx for playing!
@mrsilverhelmet Thank you and thx for playing!
@keylime TQ, and thx for leaving a comment and playing!
@yword Thanks! And I appreciate it for playing!
@momo-hunter Thank you, thanks for playing!
@unicornfrog And thank you for playing and for leaving a comment!
@rangoiv Yeah, game is a bit limited as of now. If I ever get the time and finish getting the hang of unity ill probably come back to add better level generation and obstacles. Thx for playing and the feedback!
@wormholegames Agree, game needs more levels. It was gonna have random level generation but it didnt quite work out. Thanks for playing!
@merpui Thank you, and thx for playing!
@gale-swift Thank you for playing and leaving a comment! might check your game out later if I have the time.
@finn-tr Thx for playing and for the feedback!
@nareh I hoped to implement some solid random level generation into the game but that didnt happen. I might still do that in the future along with some other stuff if I get the time and get the hang of unity to remake the game in. Thanks for playing!
@cyphyrgriffon It's a really nice colour palette and im glad other people are using it too. Thanks for playing!
@mr-developer What explosion bugs were there? Was it exploding infinitely? I didnt encounter many bugs regarding explosions so any detail helps. Thanks for playing and for leaving a comment!
@blaster391 Thanks for playing! Yeah, I decided to allow the player to guess and let them know what would happen if they messed up :3
@daniel-whittaker Thank you, and thanks for playing!
@majadroid Thank you and thx for leaving feedback!
@wizard-sino Nah it's fine, some people even liked it surprisingly. Thx for playing!
@sirkovitch Thank you for leaving a comment about those points and thank you for playing!
@fragileannihilator Glad you figured it out eventually. If you're wondering how the ghosts were made you can look here: https://www.construct.net/en/forum/construct-2/how-do-i-18/replay-meatboy-55099 where most of the code was borrowed and modified. but to sum it up (copied from my reply to someone else also asking the same question):
player movement and animation was recorded every tick and then added to an array. When player dies, make them semi transparent, turn off movement + collisions and make them follow the array. Make a new player at spawn location and respective array then have the player control that instead.
Rinse, repeat.
Thank you for playing!
that was a looooooong session of typing and an even longer wall of text. ***Ctrl + F to find the reply to you if needed***
I really enjoyed your game mechanic and the gameloop. Nice addotion to rhe platformer to have the codes spread out, took it to another level.
This game is really solid overall. The graphics are nice, with clean pixel art and a cohesive palette, the music is catchy, and it's fun to play. It fits the theme well, time travel is a fun take on it. My only gripe would be the controls, as switching between keyboard and mouse made it difficult to enter the code fast enough. I would always get just a few frames of the code being revealed, so I gave up and just brute forced it and guessed. Besides that it was fun to play, it was simple enough to just pick it up and know what to do.
That was really nice. A rather simple, but very well executed game that fits the theme. Well done! I liked it, tried to challenge myself at 2s and failed miserably. Is there a physical (human) limit of what time is executable? I can't enter the first code in 2 seconds.
This was an overall 5:star: to me. Very simple yet very cool gameplay, the music stressing you out in the intended way and very nice pixel art. Congrats, this is a very good game :)
I liked this game but you've given 8 ratings and done I think 10 self-promotion posts on the main web site since releasing it. Ludum Dare has a great system in place where if you want more ratings and feedback you can actually participate in the playing and reviewing process and your game will be more visible, instead of only asking others to play yours.
Nice game, good job!
Hello! it your fellow bear. This is an outstanding game most definitely! Let me just say the things I feel could improve.
- The last defuse should be the hardest to do. Many could cheese their way through guessing - Make the current character more outstanding that the ghosts. I have a hard time distinguishing the real from the fake when there are like 50 of us (yeah I suck lol) - when the timer hits below 1 second, make it turn red and make the music get a bit hectic to push that adrenaline. - A reset to menu button would be nice :)
As you can see, my suggestions are not game breaking because your game is truly a solid one! (Unless you put timer to zero which was hilarious!!!) Nice use of the theme, visuals are simple but work perfectly, sfx and music are used appropriately, looks like we have a winner! Good job!!!
Really fun game, I could see this actually being taken and expanded for a slightly more "full" release. Good job!
Good job! I really like the mood and the gameplay on this entry, plus the visuals and sound effects fit extremly well. My only complain is that I missed that you could interact with the bomb from the begining by pressing E. Probably is because I was just so obsesed with the timer and the tension of the game that it not clicked on my mind that using the bomb was my actual objective hahaha. Amazing entry!!
Saw a few screen shots of this during the jam and it turned out amazing. I did have a little problem with feedback on the wires if I cheesed it, but people really should enjoy the full experience. There were just a few times I tried cutting wires and there was no response what so ever. Overall I really had fun with this and enjoyed the progress of it. Amazing work.
Oh man, I just saved the link to play more in the future, it is awesome, sometimes I feel dumb but that's normal hahaha. I like the way it makes you put yourself in a stressful situation. Art, theme, music, everything is super well executed and you can decide how much you want to challenge yourself. Awesome work!!! Congratulations!
Overall, a very great game. It fit the theme very well and everything felt very cohesive. I hope you expand upon this game in the future.
Awesome game, one of the best takes of this idea I've seen so far. Very entertaining to play. However, sometimes it was (almost) impossible to get to the items fast enough.
Great fun, visual style is consistent and sound isn't annoying, atlthough it could've very easily been. Very impressive that it's procgen too! However i died dozens of times and tried a whole bunch of different level iterations before i figured it out that you could also 'use' the bomb itself. i kept trying to insert the three-number code in the locks; Also would be neat to be able to type out the code with the keyboard! Thanks for the game!
This is great! And to think you did it with C2 amazes me. How did you make the ghosts of yourself work? (As a fellow Construct developer, I'm curious!)
I agree with @grizzliusmaximus , we could have a winner right here! Way to represent Construct!
Great concept and very good execution!
I really enjoyed it! The only thing I would missed was a restart option!
Love the pixel art and pixel perfectness, really cool twist on time loop concept
That was really fun! Took me a little bit to understand what I had to do and the 2 looked a lot like a Z lol. Overall epic submission!
Wow this is so clever and so well executed! I could not stop playing until I beat the levels; it was addictive. The simple graphics were well suited to the game and the music added a lot of intensity to the time limit. Great job :)
Super fun and really well polished, you did a great job in focusing on one core mechanic and making it stand out and drive the design choices of the entire game.
Hey cool game!
I played it over and over again, initially not even knowing the mechanics of how I would beat a level (or the "E" control), but getting better and better each time.
Def not the first game to feature the concept of replaying your past actions every time you die. But the first one I've seen that's so hectic (under 5 seconds), and it takes the fun (and stress :D ) to a new level.
I wish it wouldn't give me a random level each time I started over, but actually had some pre-designed progression of levels, perhaps each one getting harder. This way, no matter how much I played, I probably missed some level :/
Good job!
Nice one little game! Congrats!
Good game. Still, you can just try disarming over and over again until you win
Amazing game, great work!
Very nice game, cool music and gameplay
Good job! A tutorial would be good, but after grasping it it's fine. I liked it! Good luck!
Great idea, but 5 seconds wasn't enough for the generated levels I've got xD.
Amazing idea executed beautifully! Really good take on the theme. Took a few iterations to figure out how to play, but once I got it, it was really fun! Could see this as a fully fleshed out game. Fantastic job, well done!
Good and clean art, that what I want! :). I like that audio, very good. I supose you game will be at good place in fun, because it is FUN. Nicely fit into the theme. Masterpiece inovative game!. Overall I think this game is good, and I think, next time you will create as good game as this is, or maybe better, so good job.
Nice game! We had a lot of fun playing. I liked the way you escape from the time loop but still see all the old clones explode!
This is a lot of fun. The controls and the general concept are very intuitive, and you very quickly learn how to play. I also like how you can adjust the timer yourself so you can keep improving on your own score, and see how quickly you can complete each map. Managed to get a score of 5800 with a timer of 2.5s so far.
Nice game overall. The implementation of controling your timer is a great idear and a good incentive for your personnal progress. Good job !
Very nice entry here! I reach 9000 points guessing at random ahah! Good job!
I liked your game, I thought the game style was really cool to play, the arts are very well done, and I'm very happy to see someone else also playing games with the construct, the idea met the jam theme well, which I saw that unfortunately it became very common, it is the idea of the character to do the previous actions, of course the participants do it in different ways and aesthetics, but both in 2d and 3d, it seemed to me that many chose to do it, I will follow you in itch, I have I'm sure you have a great project in your hands, that in the future will be able to give you many joys, I wish you good luck, a big hug.
Fantastic puzzle mixed with fast reflexes! You really have to think fast when you start the levels. I managed to get a highscore of 5,600 :)
Your game is pretty cool. The mechanics of creating copies are interesting when you are defeated. In general I liked the graphics and the sound too. Good job.
I liked the game's innovative mechanics. I found it interesting how the player had to use clues in the level to solve puzzles. I also found the music to be fine and not be disturbing during gameplay. However, I would like the game to be more accessible. It would be preferable if a tutorial was available when starting the game. I also felt that sometimes the graphics for previous clones looked too similar to the current version of the player, which led to me feeling confusion.
This loop i wont mind getting stuck at... great job...
