Cool retro feel. However I find it a bit difficult to get started, I kept running out of food before I could reach the next piece. I don't know if that's just me being bad or the game. Anyway not that bad for something made in HTML5 and JS in 48 hours.
It's short and fun, a very good Ludum Dare game. The only thing I'd recommend is adding a short description of the game to this page.
An interesting game, not the most fun one I've played, but still an interesting game. So far I haven't seen any Java games in LD47 (apart from yours), so that's cool to see. The game has interesting mechanics although having the instructions on the floor and larger than what you can see in the window at any given time wasn't the best idea. I would advise adding the instructions/story as a text file and then packaging that with the .jar in a downloadable zip folder. Apart from that, good job.
Took me a second to figure out the controls, but once I did it was fun! I also loved the music. Some sound effects would have been good. Other than that though, good job!
I love the art style! The game is fun and addicting. Hopefully you'll be able fix the bug so any player can submit their own songs, but for now the two levels are enough :D
An extremely polished game with a great concept! The puzzles are also challenging and engaging. Great job!
An amazing little game! I had fun setting the timer to 0 as well :D I just have two criticisms, the first one is that the 2s look a bit too much like Zs and that made it a bit confusing the first time. Secondly you can diffuse the bomb just by opening it up and guessing a couple times until you get it right. Other than that though it's a great game :thumbsup:
A fun game with great graphics and great gameplay!
This game is a blast to play! I like the idea of the compiler on the side as well, that and the jokes mixed in are a nice detail. It's a shame fixing code isn't this fun IRL :D
Fun and action packed!
Good idea, but not the best execution. Specifically the starting parts of the game like the menu are a bit annoying. I wouldn't recommend having the menu loop like that and require you to click several times before it starts. Players may think the game is broken before it even starts.
An amazing game! The graphics are good and the idea is great. I've always liked playing these kinds of games. Good job!
Not my favorite, but good. This looping mechanic is one of the better ones I've seen.
I like the idea of using 2d sprites in a 3d world, the idea is also good. The only thing is that the controls feel a bit janky.
@jonathanfdr Happy to hear you liked the game! I'm appreciative of the feedback and will be adding those suggestions to the post Ludum Dare version. Unfortunately the software I used to develop this game doesn't allow me to export to HTML so I wouldn't be able to post it to Newgrounds. However I plan to learn a new engine soon that does support HTML export so maybe in the future I'll rebuild it in that.
@mrsamafu Thanks!
@dcrdro Thank you! Also yeah lol not all of them need skill, I should probably add some that require a bit more skill in a post Ludum Dare update :D
@blobo Thanks, glad to hear you liked it! Based on the feedback I've been getting here I think adding some more skill based levels into the post Ludum Dare version of the game. Reading your comment made me glad I added easy and hard mode because at one point hard mode was going to be the default and only mode! I figured that was a bit too cruel so I added the difficulty option. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, this was a great introduction to Ludum Dare for me!
@kirthos I figured the "Watch your step" level would be the hardest lol. There were going to be a few more levels with different puzzles but I ran into a bug that took a good chunk of my time on the last day for compo entries. Anyway, I know die and retry games aren't everybody's preference, but thanks for playing!
@jk5000 I agree some music would have been good, I just didn't have any time to make any in 48 hours. I made everything myself in the game (minus the actual engine, MMF2), including the font! I should probably add some music in the post Ludum Dare version. Thanks for the feedback, glad to hear it was fun!
@eugenik Thanks!
@jd557 Some of your complains may be a Java version issue. I believe MMF2's .jar files are compiled to launch on versions as early as 1.6 so I don't think it's the most up to date part of the software and in Fusion 2.5 it was deprecated. However I think the movement stopping when you enter a new room is an issue with the way I made the game. It's not actually one big map but actually separate scenes that get loaded when necessary, so it wasn't made to detect if a key was already being pressed down when exiting the previous room. I also figured the "Watch your step" level would be the hardest :) I'll see what I can do to fix those control issues in a post Ludum Dare update. I may actually remake it in Godot and port it to browser (on account of MMF2 being about 7 years out of date lol). Anyway, thanks for playing!
@raphiell Thanks for the feedback! I did make some to be more like puzzles but I also made some to be brute forced (I wanted it to be a mix of both but in retrospect I realize that most of it is brute force). So I'll try and add some more puzzle levels when I update the game.
A fun game. It had good graphics, good gameplay, and good audio. An ideal Ludum Dare game, good job!
A great game! I personally loved all the computer jokes :D The only criticism I have is that the main menu background is a bit weird and doesn't seem to fit, but apart from that it's great.
Simple but fun. I love the style and the music is a great touch. The game is very polished and is enjoyable to play.
The graphics look great! I got serious Baldi vibes from the school setting, but it's very clear that this game is something different. The test and knowledge mechanics look solid to, and that little hand animation when you take a test is gold. This looks like grade A nightmare fuel, and I mean that as a compliment ;)
@substr Thank you for the feedback! It just doesn't feel right if your enemy just disappears after you shoot them (there actually is a bug with the snake exploding that I didn't notice before release). In terms of background music I just didn't have time to add it, but I'll look into adding some (maybe from OpenGameArt) in an update.
@nature-studioz Auto-fire is a good idea, I'll look into adding that! Thanks for the feedback :)
The game is pretty good, especially when you take into consideration it's a Compo entry. However I do have a few criticism. For one the text appears blurry in the Web and Desktop build of the game. Secondly, I'm pretty sure you just ripped that font from Minecraft or downloaded a Minecraft font from the internet (which breaks the rules of the Compo). Finally my last gripe is that sound effect as the character falls out of each level, it's just not the best choice and can get annoying. Apart from these things though it isn't too bad, good job.
I love this game's graphics! I was also pleased to see the inclusion of music (something lacking in my own game), but with the way this game is themed not having music would seem pretty out of place. The mechanics and controls are also solid. All in all this is a very enjoyable game :)
The game is interesting, but I find it quite short. Things tend to stop being interesting after you break the first few stables. It's mainly just a lack of things to do once all the horses are out and fighting each other. Apart from that though it functions well, minus one issue where some horses will turn upside down and go to the top or bottom of the screen (are they dead maybe?).
Overall it's a pretty good game. The only thing I'll say is that I think the stamina should last a bit longer.
@indiemoose I wanted to add a bit more like you suggested but I ran out of time. I was almost able to add a new enemy (a virus entity) but like I said 6 PM came around rather quickly.
@pbg I agree, I hoped that the sound cue that plays when a server begins to crash would help, but that can only do so much. Thanks for playing!
@skahd I always love it when people tell me what scores they got while playing my games, thanks for sharing!
@fonkin I had a feeling it might get repetitive after a little bit, but I didn't really have time to address it. I'm also not the best musician, but maybe I'll give LMMS another shot sometime. Music is always a side thought for me, but I get your point. Anyways, thanks for sticking it out to 1000 points and sharing your score!
@itsmebutsolo I actually did have the game over condition function that way originally, but I scrapped it in favor of triggering a game over when the stability and number of servers reached 0. It felt more fair to me.
This is a very neat little game! I like the art style and idea. While the drift movement felt a bit too extreme, the game was good overall.
Great job! The game handles very well and is enjoyable. I also liked the little transition between the floors.
