LD27 — 10 Seconds

GLITCH by TravisChen 2013-08-27T22:46:00

Nice concept, really trippy.

Have you actually tried this with the rift, though? I'm already feeling a little bit nauseous from playing this on my PC, can't imagine how it would feel to play it with the rift.

Incredible game. Innovative and challenging.

No more Fuel ! by paraple-geek 2013-08-26T12:51:00

Nice game. The concept is cool, the graphics look nice and the sound is pretty good.

I couldn't get used to the controls though, the way the ship rotates feels a bit weird. Maybe I misunderstood how that works.

10 Second Election by Pixelgel 2013-08-26T13:04:00

Really interesting idea you've got here.

It took me a little bit to get used to how the game works. I'm not really sure why though, but at first I really lost the notion of how much time I had to make a decision and where everything was.

One Way by flavio 2013-08-27T01:05:00

It's not working:

Maybe it's just the upload that hasn't finished though.

Final Glow by Yword 2013-08-26T13:49:00

Really great game, congrats.
Very polished for a 48h game.

Escape the Rising Lava by XENOpz 2013-08-25T22:51:00

Nice game, although since you are using Unity you should really deploy the game on a web page to have more people playing.

Also, it's a shame that there's no countdown before the level starts. It feels a bit disorienting to start right of the bat. But that's just me nitpicking :)

10 seconds to LAUNCH!! by senseidav 2013-08-31T18:32:00

Fun concept, although the game is a little bit too easy.

BeautyIsTheBeast by Valandre 2013-09-05T22:26:00

Really polished game, congrats.

I'll only give it 4 stars though, because I found a lot of bugs that were game breaking, like passing through solid walls (really solid walls, not roses/bookshelfs) and really weird pathfinding behaviour.

It's a shame though. If it weren't for that, this would be a sure 5-star game.

Jack of All Trades by sudojess 2013-08-27T22:52:00

Interesting game. I could only test the single player mode though, so I guess it's even more fun with a friend.

Star Rover by FacticiusVir 2013-08-31T18:53:00

I liked the concept, although it seems to have some problems on my resolution (1366x768).

Also, is there any way to delete a command before starting the turn?

Rewind and Run by JD557 2013-08-26T13:34:00

@CustomPhase: Yeah, I had some problems with the implementation since I don't know how to precache images in raphael.js (once you create the object, it's drawn right away), therefore a lot of images pop when the download finishes.
I should have added fast forward (I think it would be pretty easy to implement), haven't though of that. Well, too late now. :)

@alwaysinbeta: I think you are in the intro animation. Just press space bar or wait 10 seconds.
If that's not it, then I have no idea what the problem might be since I tested the game on chrome on both windows and linux and the error you are talking about is "normal" (it's just my dirty code checking if you are running chrome or firefox).
What version of chrome are you using?

LD28 — You Only Get One

Shine by AdventureIslands 2013-12-22T13:13:00

Awesome game. Everyting was very polished and the gameplay was really fun.

The only thing I missed was a small intro to each level (for example, just a text floating saying "Level 1"). Otherwise that last level gets a little bit frustrating (It lacks that small break at the start)

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Agent Hooker by Phoenix849 2015-12-16T13:18:00

This is a really solid entry.

The graphics are gorgeous and the music fits perfectly into the theme.
I believe this is one of the best entries.

Squadron by project_scientist 2015-12-14T14:24:00

I can't run this game.

All download links (Windows, OS/X and Linux) are the same and point to the windows release.

rising bubble by bitowl 2015-12-14T14:39:00

Nice job. I had a lot of fun with this one.

I actually got to the end. I really liked the way theme of each level changes in order to give some sort of story.

I found the music a bit repetitive though.

Quality Control by PixelPerfect 2015-12-14T14:56:00

The concept is nice, but this game needs a better tutorial. I had to lose a few times before I understood why I was losing.

First of all, it's not clear if the requirements are combined by an OR or an AND.
At first I thought that if the requirements where "color: blue; shape: diamond" I needed to accept all blue diamonds, while I actually needed to accept all blue objects and all diamond shaped objects.

The other problem I've had was with some of the classes. For example, when someone starts playing, they have no idea what a "normal" sized object is. It would be nice to have an example of each size class on the tutorial for this.

Finally, I feel that the "feedback sound" (the one that tells you if you made a mistake or not) comes too late, so its hard to find out what was the cause of your mistake.

Aliens Are Stealing My Potatoes by edriavw 2015-12-15T11:25:00

Neat game. The controls are a bit hard, but fun nonetheless.

I think there should be a small delay before each missile. I lost a lot of times because I was pressing A or D when the new missile spawns.

The Artifact by nunesbarbosa 2015-12-14T16:11:00

Awesome game... It's a shame that it's so short.

I really enjoyed the art style, it's gorgeous. The background is a little pixelated, but I think that's ok.

Dungeon Wheel by BeardyBard 2015-12-15T15:28:00

Fun game.

A bit frustrating at times, when rerolling does nothing.

Sickle & Sword by MSiddeek 2015-12-15T15:45:00

Awesome game.

I think I've messed up somewhere, as I'm out of materials, but have enough farm, foods and towers to live indefinitely (I'm already past week 400 with only 2 farmers, 1 warrior and 2 towers).

I might try again later.

2 button metroidvania by JaJ 2015-12-16T13:39:00

Awesome game! I'm pretty sure this is the best compo entry I've seen.

Awesome graphics: Check!
Awesome soundtrack: Check!
Awesome gameplay: Check!

Dungeon Surge by timeshapers 2015-12-15T14:55:00

Really nice concept.

Some background music would be nice. It would also be cool to be able to see my current deck, but I understand that having only 2 buttons makes that quite hard.

Waku Waku Buffet by JD557 2015-12-14T15:40:00

@Carnivoris, that's odd...
Have you tried clicking on the game with your mouse? Maybe you had something else selected.

Waku Waku Buffet by JD557 2015-12-15T14:58:00

@AlexLemminG:
At first I was planning on having multiple characters with different tastes. That seemed like a nice way to implement a difficulty slider (eg. picking the vegetarian character would be playing in hard mode).

Unfortunately, as the code base grew that feature became harder to implement and I ran out of time.

Waku Waku Buffet by JD557 2015-12-15T21:59:00

@refreshgames:
Thanks for the heads up. This actually seems to be a known firefox issue firefox: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1080646

Since that ticket is unassigned since 2014, I'll try to release an fix tomorrow (I need to check first if that doesn't break any rules).

Waku Waku Buffet by JD557 2015-12-16T13:07:00

OK, the game seems to run fine on Firefox now.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Spectacular Stride Machine by Garfeild 2016-08-29T18:42:00

Nice game with a great atmosphere. The sound effect when you lose is also very fitting.

Jumping/ducking and balancing the machine at the same time is a bit hard though, not sure why.

Emily Morrison's Garden by Ludipe 2016-08-29T22:27:00

Neat game.

Like ratly, it took me some tries to understand the gameplay I only survived up until day 122, but it's a really challenging and fun game.

The Museum by RhythmLynx 2016-08-29T18:26:00

Funny game, but it seems to lack any kind of gameplay. Is there any goal?

Sir Serell Saves The World by imogiagames 2016-08-29T18:55:00

Great game. It does have some problems though: the movement sometimes feels a bit weird, with the character getting stuck and there's something weird with the door's bounding box.

The enemies are also quite the bullet sponges, but I guess that's a way to make the game more challenging.

Artifact by BinaryProvider 2016-08-29T22:44:00

Fun game with a catchy music. Are the levels procedurally generated?

I really like how after level 7, if you are greedy, you are guaranteed to lose.

Push Of The Ancients by HeyChinaski 2016-08-29T23:08:00

Cute game, and it really fits the theme. :)

The controls are a bit wonky at times, but that's a minor problem.

I also found the levels to be a bit to easy (the tree position really spoils the goal), but it's fun overall.

City of Words by ethankennerly 2016-08-29T18:21:00

I'm really bad at this game. I eventually gave up and used all the hints just to see the end game.

I guess it needed to be a bit more polished to keep me interested.

Retro Player by justinooncx 2016-08-29T18:37:00

Nice visuals. I didn't like the controls, but I guess that's because I'm playing with a touchpad. It probably works better in mobile.

Life Before Texting by sararyCow 2016-08-29T23:46:00

I'm not really sure what it is, but this game has some big issues when it comes to controlling the player. It feels like you only control the acceleration (not the speed) and there's some really weird inertia/friction.

This is really frustrating, considering that some parts need some really precise jumps.

Nevertheless, I got to the end.

I really enjoyed the fact that each level showed your position in the map, that helped to keep the frustration at bay.

Sacrifice by tayl1r 2016-08-29T18:32:00

The idea is pretty nice, and I think I got the message, but I would enjoy this a lot more if the decisions had more impact (eg. if you don't kill atheists, they will spread doubt, but if you kill devoted followers, the other followers will become afraid that they will be next).

LD37 — One room

Comfort Zone by icefallgames 2017-01-03T01:13:00

Awesome use of theme. The voices are also pretty cool.

It's a shame that original version is so buggy (also, the character feels a bit floaty). I really wanted to have some fun with this game, but it's really frustrating to have to restart a level due to a bug.

The Boxing Ring by Haveachin 2016-12-12T19:08:00

Fun little game. The graphics are nice and the concept is fun. It gets a bit boring after a while though (adding more enemies is nice, but it's not enough to keep me playing).

Note: The web player on the top is not working well. You should at least add a link to gamejolt to the downloads and links section.

Nightlight by captainskye 2016-12-12T22:06:00

The .jar file is returning a 404 error.

Arcane Incrementalist by deathray 2017-01-03T01:31:00

I don't really enjoy clicker games (and this one is particularly bad for me, since I can't manually click to speed up the process), but the art style is pretty neat.

Also, the game is really silly, which is a +1 for me when it comes for Jam entries. :)

Some creepy music would be nice, though.

No More Monkeys by lucentbeam 2017-01-03T01:37:00

I enjoy to see some silly games on Ludum Dare, and this is one hell of a weird game.

It needs a lose condition though. Also, a scoring system with a combo counter would be awesome.

"Whatever..." by OldPeculier 2017-01-03T01:05:00

The concept and execution are nice, but after finishing the game I had the same question as @dalbinblue.

I guess you could say that it's a ghost story. :P

Hikikomori by Move127 2016-12-12T19:36:00

I like the idea, but there are some bugs and problems that make the final product really suffer:

* You should be able to push the trash, not just pull. Otherwise, there's just too much randomness associated with trash management.

* You can't say "No" to take out the trash (the button does not work). This is really frustrating because sometimes you are really close to 0 anxiety, but you just bumped in a trash bag, so now you are back to square one.

Also, I think you can beat the game by only buying manga after getting your parents money. This kind of game is really hard to balance though, so I guess something like this is to be expected (it's a shame that it had to be the "bad" solution).

It's a shame that you only had one day to work in this. This is a really nice idea and I would like to see a complete version.

Maybe you should make a "definitive version" and post it here in the downloads section (I've seen that before in other editions, so I guess that its not against the rules if you just fix some minor bugs and keep the original version as well).

Room One by Yamzho 2016-12-12T22:01:00

Nice game, at first I thought this was just another "cookie clicker"-like game, but I was pleasantly surprised that it actually has some depth to it (and a lose condition).

The wait time between days is a bit too much though. It would probably be better if it was turn based.

Also, in the last turn, you could automatically add the value of all your upgrades to the final score. As it stands, it's obviously beneficial to just sell everything on the last day.

Rat Chase by MestR 2016-12-13T00:11:00

Awesome game. Really challenging and tense, but also fun.

I really loved the aesthetics and the sound.

52-Card Pickup 2000 by KJB of IBwWG 2016-12-11T21:20:00

Is it just me or the mouse Y is inverted?

You should try to fix that while there's still time :)

Ludum Dare: The Game by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2017-01-03T00:38:00

Nice idea, good graphics and really nice music. It's also pretty fun.

It would be nice to have some constraints/precedence rules though (eg. it's a bit silly to work the first 40h on code/audio/design and the last 8 hours on design). The bug system does something like this though, and I really enjoyed that.

The Night before Christmas by fyhr 2017-01-02T18:47:00

Your entry is quite similar to mine, and I've got to say that I should have used the mouse like you did. It sure works better than just using the keyboard.

Also, I can see why you spent so much time on the graphics, that room looks pretty good.

It's a shame that you were not able to add a scoring system and a Boss battle, that would really improve the game.

Your little human by Quaternius 2016-12-13T00:33:00

Nice game with good graphics and upbeat music.

It does need an ending though... The game just keeps getting easier and easier. The first days are fun, but at day 40 I just gave up because I felt that nothing could stop me, the bars fill up so fast that the challenge disappears.

Roombat by JD557 2016-12-12T22:19:00

@Malsanity, Ah damn, you are right. I should have tested it on Chrome (it works fine on Firefox).

I'll add a disclaimer so that chrome players use the game jolt link. It seems to work fine there.

Neon no Nakama by SimonHutchinson 2017-01-03T01:25:00

Gorgeous game.

It would be nice if it had more levels and a some lose condition (a timer or traps), but it's really awesome for a 48h entry. Congratulations.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep your distance by MarcoValeKaz 2020-04-21T11:35:48Z

I haven't got the chance to try the game yet, but there's a `/` missing in the URL :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

https://marcokaz.itch.io/keep-your-distance

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Twist Turn Shoot Burn by gamepopper 2020-10-07T11:55:21Z

Great game! Love the aesthetics and gameplay. It also feets pretty nice with the theme.

Mad props for the small touches with the Fast-forward/rewind mechanics (speed up/slow down sound, analog trigger support).

I think this is one of the best games I've played yet on this compo.

The Flying Postman by auxC 2020-10-09T12:33:14Z

Nice game, loved the visuals and gameplay.

I felt that it was a bit too easy if you avoid the boxes and went straight to the waypoints and a bit too hard otherwise.

Hyper Loop Runner by jd557 2020-10-05T18:47:19Z

Thanks for your comments.

@aterlamia derp... I wrote the tutorial before adding the fuel mechanic and forgot to test that, I should probably have disabled that in the tutorial :face_palm:

@p0l4r I wanted to add a minimap, but I was afraid that it would take me a long time to implement/draw the minimaps... An arrow would have been a nice addition.

@BOOtak @Yorsh you are right. The ship does have a very tiny bit of inertia, but it was a late addition (the maps were already made and tested in the version without inertia) and I had some trouble balancing that out, so I just kept it as is. :(

Hyperloop by R3L0ad1 2020-10-13T19:57:22Z

Great game, one of my favorites of the compo for sure.

Loved the whole mood of the game. It would be extra cool if the music was in sync with the track (kind of like audiosurf), but the soundtrack is great, so it's OK :)

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-12T21:25:55Z

This game is so innovative and polished for a 48h compo entry, great job!

It's a shame that it's so short, I'm really hoping that you release a post-compo version with more levels/puzzles.

PolyFury by Dom Harris 2020-10-10T11:34:20Z

Wow, what a solid game. Shame that it's so short, I really wanted to play a bit longer.

I think you should add some instructions to the game page though. I love the minimalist UI, but it's really weird to find out what the health bars are.

Prison of the Dream Weaver by candlesan 2020-10-07T12:05:38Z

Nice concept.

I like the idea, but the control feels a bit too stiff/slow, so I ended up not playing for long. It's a shame, because I think that if the combat was a bit more fun I would spend a lot of time with this game. :)

Shlooper by Gurbx 2020-10-09T22:29:22Z

Nice game. Loved the gameplay and the graphics, everything felt very polished.

Reusing the same level layout was also a pretty smart way to use the compo time efficiently.

Are We There Yet? by JudgeZedd 2020-10-07T20:13:55Z

Really enjoyed this game. The music is pretty aweome and the graphics, while crude on the surface, are actually pretty good (no garish colors, for example).

Looper by shashwat 2020-10-05T16:52:32Z

This is a pretty fun game! +1

It's a shame that the graphics are not very pretty, I was going to skip it just based on the thumbnail. Fortunately, I didn't :)

Great work. I also enjoyed the music.

Phil Alone by Gabriel Dias Oliveira de Almeida 2020-10-10T21:06:16Z

Damn, I think I got a bad ending...

The concept is really cool. I think I'll play it a bit more to see if I can get a good ending. Nice job.

The Loop by Jin9310 2020-10-07T13:24:58Z

Loved the music and the sound effects when rotating. I ended up rotating a lot just to hear the "beep boops" :)

Bee, leave it or knot by Hanra 2020-10-10T08:26:05Z

As others said, 60 bees on the first level was a big mistake :(

I really wanted to see the other levels with enemy bees, but it's taking me way too long to get past the first level... and it's really frustrating to have to try again from the start if you mess up.

I think you should release a "no rating" version with some slightly tweaks. Even if it doesn't help your rating, it's nice to let people see what your full vision for the game was :)

Endless Loop by Aret24 2020-10-08T12:54:26Z

Cool concept. The music is pretty catchy.

A bit hard, at the beginning, though.

It would be nice to have a menu, it took me a while to notice that the game had already started.

Edge of Ludum Dare by danielblanco3d 2020-10-17T08:33:11Z

Loved the story. As someone who keeps forgetting about the Ludum Dare dates (other than this one, my last submission was on LD 37 :x ), this feels pretty relatable.

Personally, I think that the theme should change to a random one on every loop. That would be a true recreation of the "Ludum Dare experience" :P

Hope that you are able to gt the 20 votes, making the game in Spanish was pretty risky :fingers_crossed:

Time Loop by _Kassjak_ 2020-10-10T13:56:21Z

Nice game, loved the gameboy aesthetics.

Loop Invader by ZwodahS 2020-10-05T16:58:45Z

Great game. Having multiple control options was a good idea (I actually prefer the 2 button version).

I this would look pretty good with some bloom and a techno soundtrack, or something like that.

Loop World by helekopeter 2020-10-10T20:38:56Z

Wow, this game has tones of levels. I stopped in the 3rd world.

Even though the graphics are crude, I really liked the special effects.

TIME TO DANCE! by Savvy Community 2020-10-10T11:27:10Z

What an innovative concept.

The music was pretty jammin and really sets the mood. Congrats!

Spiiin by Temulgeh 2020-10-15T10:06:51Z

You say that the asset quality is questionable, but I thought they were pretty good. Reminds me of some GBA games.

Shame that there's no audio. Some SFX would make this so much better :(

Danger Beat by rhoff95 2020-10-09T22:41:06Z

This is such a nice concept.

It's such a shame that there's no gamepad support, this is just the kind of game that would (IMO) be so much better with an analog stick.

Escape! by toby1645 2020-10-09T18:14:46Z

Reminds me of "I wanna be the guy".

I hads some control problems though (not sure if they only happen in the java version) where the character stops when entering a new room (it won't move even if you keep the button down). This can be quite frustrating in some rooms :(

I eventually gave up (at the "Watch your step level"), as I was playing in hard mode and it's really frustrating to die in the "Run!" room multiple times becase your keys get stuck. If it wasn't for that, I would probably try to go further :)

In The Loop by Luc-creationallabs 2020-10-10T16:17:21Z

Great game!

I can't believe I reached the end, I am really bad at it, but it's pretty addictive :P

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Kharon's Twilight by dob 2022-04-06T21:08:11Z

Very cool idea.

Unfortunately I had to stop playing due to performance problems (at a certain point the game just slowed down to a crawl). It would be nice to see a slightly more polished post-jam version :)

Virus Bash by joewan 2022-04-07T07:18:04Z

Nice game, the controls are very tight and the level up/upgrades are a nice fit.

It does get a bit stale after a while. Maybe it would be cool if some really tough virus showed up randomly on later levels (like bosses). Still, very balanced for a 48h entry :)

Volcano Lullaby by jd557 2022-04-04T16:44:26Z

@asmadigames haha, I was wondering if someone would actually find the easter egg. That was much sooner than I expected :P

Can't Escape Your Past by Marcenat 2022-04-04T18:41:54Z

Very fun game, that last level was very challenging.

As another commenter pointed out, the wall jump sometimes felt a bit off, but I got used to it.

Volcano Maintenance by jefvel 2022-04-07T06:55:05Z

Awesome game, I think this is one of the best I played so far.

Loved the artstyle and the arcade gameplay. The game feels pretty balanced and fits the theme perfectly.

Volcano Maintenance by jefvel 2022-04-07T06:55:06Z

(Ignore this comment, somehow my comment was published twice...)

Guardian Angel by blockerz 2022-04-04T16:16:10Z

Pretty neat little game. I was surprised by the amount of levels and the dificulty curve, I just kept thinking "OK, this must be the last level, it can't get much crazier than this" :)

Fuse Lit! by pdotjpg 2022-04-07T15:16:38Z

Very interesting mechanics, and a very fun experience overall. As some other comments mentioned, it was a bit weird to know when you could move a line or not. It becomes obvious the more you play, but maybe some color coding could help.

Until the end by Sir. Syko 2022-04-07T06:58:51Z

Fun game with a nice arcadey feel.

Also took me a bit to understand that you could destroy the crystals. The first thing I did was just to stay put and shoot enemies, but that's clearly not enough to get a good score.

The Flower of Marasca by F1Krazy 2022-04-08T18:36:04Z

Fun game. I got to the end, although I feel like cheesed a bit (I just went through the wall that was guarding the flower, not sure if there was a trigger on the right side).

Some deaths felt a bit cheap... nothing major but, for example, on some platforming sections you have spikes in the bottom that you can't see immediatly, while in others you have enemies. Also, I'm not really a fan of being able to be soft-locked, but I don't have any good suggestions on how to fix that...

Other than that, it felt like a really solid entry.

The Great Flood by cassowary 2022-04-08T06:41:15Z

Very beautiful game. The music, text and graphics all work very well together to fit the mood.

It took a while for the dificulty to pick up, but it still works very well as a relaxing experience.

Very fun game, I hope that you get to the 20 ratings.

I played most of the game with the trackpad except for the last level. It would be cool to have more challenging levels like that one, but I understand that it´s hard to do that in 48h. The game still packed quite some content :)

Also, the music was quite nice.

Perchance to Dream by Firekeeper Games 2022-04-08T06:50:42Z

The controls felt a bit cramped (I think it was because of the arrows + mouse instead of WASD + mouse, which forces you to use the left hand on the arrow keys), at least for me it felt really awkward to shoot while jumping.

The game looks nice, but I stopped at the 2nd level because of this. I hope you release a post-jam version with some fixes :)

Volcano by ABRDs 2022-04-04T16:05:30Z

Very cute entry, loved the art style and the music (even the pixelated hands were charming).

Unfortunately, for me the framerate really dropped on areas with a ton of grass, and just as I was deliverying what (I think) were the last collectible pieces, the game crashed with an "invalid convesion to Integer" error :(

Still, very fun entry

@abrds unfortunately, I can't reproduce it now... I know I was rolling some things around the right side of the volcano when that happened, but I just tried that again and the game keeps running fine.

I was playing for quite some time, so I assume it's a rare bug.

For reference, I was playing on the web version.

The Average Quest by MelekTaus 2022-04-07T07:29:54Z

Very nice, the controls and jump fell really good.

Also loved the art style.

Delay Dragon by dindotjs 2022-04-09T09:36:44Z

The concept was interesting, but it felt a bit underexplored, I would love to see some more levels (although this was pretty good for a 48h entry).

One thing that bothered me a lot was the paralax scrolling. I'm not sure what's going on, but sometimes the background just flickered in a weird way. :/

Anyways, it'sa solid entry.

Impending Doom by Castitatis 2022-04-08T18:12:21Z

Very interesting take on a clicker game.

The fact that there's an impending doom really changes the game from "I'm just idly cliking to unlock stuff" to actually feel like a challenge.

Morituri by omgitsleana 2022-04-17T15:51:23Z

Congrats on your first Jam, very interesting take on the theme.

I didn't mind not having choices, but this seemed like the perfect kind of game to have some hidden story elements - there was the message behind the photo, but it was a bit of a shame that wasn't developed a bit further.

Unending Z by DeraxBlaze 2022-04-09T16:06:57Z

The gameplay was pretty solid. As mentioned above, I would also make the bullet size a bit bigger. At first I didn't even understood the ricochet mechanics, due to how small the bullets were.

The sound effects were also pretty cool.

BTW, I see that you haven't rated any games yet. I'm not sure if this is your first Ludum Dare, but if you don't rate games your game won't be as visible, so it's likelly that you won't reach the required 20 ratings.
