Damn, got the URLs mixed up; fixed now!
Gah, hosting is down; will get this fixed ASAP.
Should be working now.
I try to run this and get "Could not find the main class: Alone. Program will exit." on Win7 x64.
I'm getting the same "javaw" error on Windows 8...
Liked the idea; UI was a bit tricky, and it took a minute to work out what I was supposed to do and how you're supposed to win (why did new cities appearing halfway through?) but basically fun and definitely fits the theme.
Damn unions!
Could probably port to XNA, though that means installing XNA instead ;)
Now ported to Windows, using Monogame!
Not sure what to make of this; there's no relation to the theme beyond the title, it's difficult to see what game content/functionality wasn't part of the UDK and what was created during the competition, and I'm not sure there's a game in there so much as a series of set pieces. While it's nice to see someone using some different toolsets, I can't rate this because I can't work out what the baseline is.
Which buttons aren't working?
Be sure to check if you have .NET 4.5 & XNA 4 (Refresh) installed - there's links in the description at the top of this page.
@KilledByAPixel - yeah, I get that; I just came up with a list of trade goods and kind of stuck with it, didn't spend enough time working on that area of game balance.
@CMayhem - Thanks! The economy is simplified to guarantee that the random universe would never leave you stuck in a position you couldn't make money from, but with more structure to the universe generation I could probably plan the economy better. The next items on my ToDo list, after sound effects, where limiting travel distances & and a Buy Max button!
@cahman - Yup, the economy is very flat, so there's a lot of scope for improvement there. The planet name generator was thrown together in the five minutes before the competition ended, and combines 2-4 random syllables from a set containing all combinations of a consonant and a vowel - code is here http://bit.ly/11RnAzx
@HuvaaKoodia - Fullscreen was interfering with streaming to Twitch, so that was a casualty of my vanity, I'm afraid!
As a few people have mentioned a crash on start-up, I've uploaded a new version with a crash-report dialog; if you don't see that appear and it still crashes, it's almost certainly that you've not got the right version of .NET
I had to GTFO mid-way through ripping a part - now, if I go back and try to rip another part, it stays stuck at the percentage of the rip I gave up on.
Tried the first level of the web version (Windows 8, Chrome), but when I move my robot onto the bomb nothing happens.
Infernal: Apologies for asking the obvious, but have you got .NET 4.5 & XNA 4.0 installed?
@RustyBrromHandle: Curses - will have to see if I can replicate it.
You can right-click items in a program to delete them.
I really love the theme and the look...but I'm stuck in the first cyberspace area. When I get to the other end of the passage and click the other cylinder, I just go back to the terminal where I started...
Is there a win condition?
I've seen a few people using itch.io for online hosting, though I've not used it myself. You can always share web pages from the Dropbox public folder; it's the easiest way to get your web version hosted if you don't have an existing website.
Also, please using something other than fileswap, the spam pages and talking adverts are a nightmare.
Web version doesn't open, tries to download the webpage instead.
It's a shame I can't rate this on audio, because it's excellent.
I can't see a blue dot or a green dot - running at 1920x1080
@Fnkee Had one or two people say the same thing - not sure what the missing dependency is, will try and fix it ASAP
@Andrea The file to run is Keeper.LD31.exe
I see we had a similar idea :-D I think your implementation of lighting worked out better, though I'm not 100% sure what I'm supposed to do or how long I'm supposed to hold out for.
Are you sure that's mine? I'm not using Unity, or Javascript...
Couldn't get the hang of the controls, and wasn't sure how close I was supposed to be before I could attack the mosquitos. Enjoyed the art style and animations though.
Needs the latest .NET Framework - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=48130
