LD30 — Connected Worlds

\ \ World Shift \ \ by lambomang 2014-08-25T06:40:00

This is really cool, some of the jumps required can be pretty had to make though. Especially when a jump requires you change colors mid jump so you can't even see where you're trying to land until after you're committed to the jump.

Blue Screen by varun 2014-08-25T06:23:00

I'm having a hard time dodging any attacks in cyberspace, So I just keep dieing. Is there really any point to rolling? It just seems to make you spin in midair.

The Warehouse Connection by Jesper Oskarsson 2014-08-25T03:46:00

The yellow cube makes it impossible to clear without friends, and that is pretty disappointing. It's cool that the game is multiplayer, but I hate it when games tell me I don't have enough friends to do something. I wish the was some way to clear solo even if it was really hard.

Coral by Vavassor 2014-08-25T05:46:00

I played this game all the way to the end, and I can say with confidence it was the second most "visually disorienting" game I've ever played. The bright colors are really bad if you spin your camera too fast.

Path of Supernova by NuSan 2014-08-25T02:01:00

The instructions are kinda unclear and the the game gets insanely hard I tried a random set up of unknown difficulty and got 20 some tiled scattered around. I couldn't solve it, and I tried for 15 minutes. The game is interesting but the 3 direction of movement limitation can get really aggravating if there are a lot of tiles.

Universe of Color by Elforama 2014-08-25T03:59:00

The web version of the game starts suffering from crippling lag at about 800 bodies on my computer. After 1000 I can't even move the colors anymore they just sit there picking up even more bodies as they spawn. The game continues to run even if you switch tabs, so I bet this game could crash someone's browser if they just left it open for a hour or two while they where doing something else. The game does make pretty shapes and colors though so if you like pretty graphics this game is pretty.

Any Moment by Jakub Koziol 2014-08-25T19:11:00

While this game is interesting and enjoyable, it is really lacking in game play (you just press space when it tells you to). I really wish it had microphone input, or even a just few dialog choices to select from so I could respond when asked a question. Over all it is enjoyable, and the guy in the chair makes some good points, but I just wish the game let me interact with it more.

Connected Pylons by Pat AfterMoon 2014-08-25T01:40:00

This game is pretty amusing, it isn't really hard (at least not for the first 6 levels anyway which is all the farther I went before commenting). The enemy AI is extremely simple (they follow the wall) so you don't have to worry about them that much. I wish the game would give you a score or a timer though, after you've been pushing blocks for about 10 minutes it starts to feel a little pointless and some method of gauging how well you are doing besides what level you are on would probably help a good deal in that regard.

Symbiosis by vividhelix 2014-08-25T06:17:00

This is pretty clever, well done.

Spacecat Marines by matthias_zarzecki 2014-08-25T04:56:00

The game is amusing but the enemies have AI that is far to simple to pose a threat. They walk single file to your core you can just stand in front of them and mow them all down easy. I still enjoyed it for a while, and if the AI gets improved I'd love to play a longer version of this game.

Universal Gravitation by tmpxyz 2014-08-25T03:31:00

The blue sphere is annoying to use, because you tend to just slam into it instead of doing anything fun. I really like the orangeish ones that you swing from though those are a lot of fun.

Homeworld Defender by soyliquid 2014-08-25T05:28:00

The incoming planets start spawning like crazy once you shoot down 18 or so. You home planet ends up providing the cover that the other planets need to destroy your home over all a pretty depressing game if you really think about it.

CATastrophe by Roknsk 2014-08-25T06:06:00

The score stops going up after it reaches 800... I guess that means I set the top score.

The Connection by jas7229 2014-08-25T06:28:00

This game looks pretty good, too bad I'm terrible at it.

Find The Portal by asheriggy 2014-08-25T19:55:00

This game could really use camera controls, and a run button would be great. It took me over a minute to reach a portal even though I walked strait to it, and I couldn't check to see if there were any portals closer because there are no camera controls.

Universe Errand Boy by sez 2014-08-25T05:20:00

I like that I can customize my ship, but there doesn't seem to be any real point to the game other than that, and at the beginning your ship is really bad because you can't afford a hull if you want cargo, guns, and an engine. Space pirates or multiplayer would make this game really cool. That or more interesting ways to mine resources than shooting asteroids.

Think Fast by shico 2014-08-25T04:01:00

I use ad blocker so I had no idea the ads were bad sorry about that. I'll see if I ca find another host.

Think Fast by shico 2014-08-25T04:42:00

The game is now hosted on itch.io, but as a heads up I made this game in 1080p resolution so you may need to zoom out on your browser to see the whole thing at once. I do plan to finish this game, and the music is just me humming into my microphone and then increasing the pitch. I was really pleased with the result myself.

Think Fast by shico 2014-08-25T18:24:00

Now that you mention it the character in its space suit does kinda resemble an very cute washing machine... As for the resolution since this is my first game I had no idea how to fix that, and I ran out of time. I plan to fix it in the future when I make the remastered version of the game, for now zooming out in your browser or playing the windows version of the game is probably your best bet. I ported this game to web so I just glad that the resolution thing is the only obvious problem with port.

I hope lots of people enjoy it even if it does have a few minor bugs, because honestly I'm really proud that my first game turned out so well.

Think Fast by shico 2014-08-25T19:36:00

The detectors take 3 seconds to launch the capture protocol and send you back to the start of the level. The only way to escape capture is to complete the level within those 3 seconds.

As for getting stuck I believe you are referring to how you can cling to walls by continuing to try and move in the direction of a wall you are touching. If you do that it pretty much makes gravity stop working on you, but that is intended the collisions work fine. The cling mechanic was intended so players could stop the character in a very specific spot at will to avoid detection in hard levels, but since I ran out of time I never made those levels, and never explained the mechanic because it isn't really important in the first level.

Sorry for any confusion that may have caused.

Think Fast by shico 2014-08-27T00:01:00

Yeah, I ran out of time before I could put the story into the game. So, I just gave a basic rundown on want is going on in the instruction screen. Basically you're climbing a space elevator between two planets that are quite literally connected.

Think Fast by shico 2014-08-27T04:57:00

When you reach the top of the level it will stop the timer. That is the closest you can get to winning the game currently because I ran out of time before I could make the rest of the levels.

The game is designed with speed running in mind so a low time is like a high score. My best time is 18.54ish seconds so if you want to say that your better than the games creator (at time of this post) you can use that as a goal I guess.

I'm currently working on developing the second playable character, and after that I'll begin making more levels once it is done the game will have a story and it will be possible to win. I then plan to publish the finished game.

Tangled Mini Worlds by Lars-Kristian 2014-08-25T02:18:00

This is a fun idea. I like the way the trees shake when it come to a sudden stop, it's a nice touch. I wish there were more levels though I cleared all 6 in less than 5 minutes...

Connected Worlds by Dry Tree 2014-08-26T18:04:00

The game concept is great and the fight controls are simple and responsive, but the space pirates are very disappointing because you have no way to fight them, and they have no way to harm you. It's kinda like if the space pirates are just shining a laser pointer at you to annoy you instead of really being pirates trying to steal your stuff.
