Great idea and execution!

doomerismo 2020-10-05 03:02

Very inovative game. The minimalistic graphics really do their job. It's very hard tho. I can't pass from the third level and it keeped me from see the game full potential.

thevideogamester 2020-10-05 03:04

Fun little experience. More difficult then it looks but satisfying enough to keep from being frustrating. I am a fan of the minimalist art approach. Had one time where I landed in what would be the green circle before I got all the rings and it did restart me. Not sure if that was intentional. Overall a very strong entry.

100th-coin 2020-10-05 03:04

I really like your take on the theme! It's very content-rich for a game made in 48 hours! Great work.

doomerismo 2020-10-05 03:04

Nevermind i got it.

perfectsquare 2020-10-05 03:04

Wow, that was really fun! Great job with the controls and visual/audio feedback, it felt really polished.

jacob-bernard 2020-10-05 03:05

This was one of the most well polished games I've played so far, excellent job! I really enjoyed the visuals and the audio. The game was challenging but rewarding enough to keep my interest to the end. I wish more of the levels relied on the bouncy white walls, that was definitely one of my favorite parts. Very well done!

irwatts 2020-10-05 03:09

Those juicy platform hit reactions feel great. Love the polish on this one. The difficulty ramped up pretty high for me, but it always felt like it was my fault. Well done!

zwodahs 2020-10-05 03:10

Nice game. I got to the end. intheloop.png

Really enjoy the puzzle. Some are really nice and really requires precise execution, while others requires thinking outside box. There were also a few that I overthink it, and overlooked the most obvious solution.

Thanks for the game !

jonathanfdr 2020-10-05 03:16

Dude, 10/10, the best i've played so far. Seriously, everyone that wants to join a Game Jam should have lessons with you about keeping it simple and level design. I'm speachless, really, really good job.

mastasurf 2020-10-05 03:58

This is one of the few games that I have revisited. There is nice progression of difficulty between the levels. The art is minimalistic, but the animations more than compensate for that and bring the game to life. My only complaint is that the pixelated objects detract from the visual appeal of the game. The shapes are simple enough to be vector based. Overall, well done!

michael-parrish 2020-10-05 04:34

This is a great game. Deceptively difficult, perhaps start slower on the early levels and let it ramp up as you progress. But the physics, visuals, level design are all great. Nice job.

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-05 05:13

Thanks for the feedback @thevideogamester, the thing with the green circle is that you must enter the circles the number of times indicated in the center of it, if you reach the final loop and leave some behind, the level restart.

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-05 05:15

Wow @jacob-bernard thank you very much for the words, it means a lot. I agree with you about more platforms ... I will probably do a few more levels just for fun in the next week, then I'll add a few more :). I'm glad you enjoyed the game.

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-05 05:19

@jonathanfdr thank you for the feedback and the kind words, I’m glad you enjoyed. :)

thevideogamester 2020-10-05 05:36

I figured it was that. Just missed and went a bit too far and was surprised when it didn't let me use it like a normal loop to go back one. I do think coloring the circle before all rings are collected to indicate it doesn't act like a normal loop would be a nice feature. Just so it's clear its behavior is different.

bukkaketears 2020-10-05 10:00

Oh buy, this is a full product, not a game jam entry. You have created something that would be totally neat on mobiles, don't waste it!

masaru 2020-10-05 10:31

Like others have said : great game, looks like a finished game, really amazing work. The only thing I'll change is the respawn noise : I'm awful at physics game and therefore had to respawn a lot and it gets annoying quit quickly. I couldn't pass the one with the wall, I tried different strategy but never found how you're supposed to do it, the noise when hitting the wall is very satisfying and the overall sound design is very good, it's just the respawn sound that annoyed me.

manspider 2020-10-05 11:51

Probably the game I spent the most time playing this Ludum Dare. Good idea and very well made.

wearedev 2020-10-05 13:04

cool game, the minimalistic design is neat and the game idea is really innovative imo I suggest using FixedUpdate instead of Update in the player script. otherwise the framerate influences the speed of the player which makes the fourth impossible (as far as I see)

~ MinorSeven from WeAreDev

aarimous 2020-10-05 14:03

I think this is a perfect example of keeping you scope small and working on good execution. We all learned something. Nice game, and congrats on a good jam :) Cheers!

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-05 14:59

@manspider I'm glad you like it :) Thanks

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-05 15:04

@wearedev oh man, what a newbie mistake! Thanks for the valuable feedback!

rustywolf 2020-10-05 15:27

I love how much you were able to do with so little. Awesome work

brads-space 2020-10-05 16:28

Awesome work! Made it all the way to the end. Not much I'd change here.

thewustache 2020-10-05 16:49

I love it! Not an easy game, but not frustrating either. The idea is so simple (and well fitting) that it's innovative for that sole reason. I especially liked the looping sound and the camera zooms. The game feels very polished overall.

The one thing I found a little confusing is the inconsistent bounciness of the walls. It makes it less easy to plan a route -- I probably made things more difficult for myself than they had to be because I made the wrong assumptions. However, the level design makes up for that, since actually hitting a wall usually results in you progressing to the next circle.

omarmobadr 2020-10-05 16:55

Amazing game I had a lot of fun playing it

I think you should use pixel perfect in it to make your sprites crisper

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU4YjSZNTnY

hope it helps

phlip45 2020-10-05 19:16

Love this game. This really feels like a polished game with the exception of sound. Something as simple as having a random tone play when you enter a new circle (maybe picked at random from a set amount) would have been a lot more enjoyable for the ears. The sound you get when you are circling the rings currently is fine, but because you hear it over and over it can get grating.

Add two buttons on the screen to jump and reset and this is an instant mobile game. I don't mean that in a derogatory way either. I would love to have this on my phone with more levels!

yeti-kid 2020-10-05 19:45

I really loved this game! Sooo satisfying when you time it right!! Really well done!!

niterich 2020-10-05 20:42

I agree with most of the above comments that this could be fun, innovative mobile, game but that the pixel graphics don't work as well as simple vector drawings.

I also found a bit of an exploit where I could launch the ball down into the guards so it easily counts as two catches without having to pass it back and forth between loops.

wongkongphooey 2020-10-05 20:52

It's infuriating, it's addictive, I hate it. 5/5 can't stop playing it!

mrschlag2 2020-10-05 21:06

I love this game, very satisfying feeling. I like this pixel style for simple shapes, it gives a nice retro style. Nice progression curve and puzzles ideas too ! Thanks !

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-05 21:21

@wongkongphooey this is exactly my plan, MUAHAHA :) Glad you 'liked it'

indiedevdan 2020-10-05 21:32

Had a blast playing this game, small in size, but big on fun! Really well done! :)

milestone-games 2020-10-05 21:54

This was super fun to play, and so tricky to figure out exactly when to hit space! I really like your concept can scale further and further as levels get progressively harder. Great work!

hawkin 2020-10-06 00:42

Simple but effective implementation! Really smart use of the theme. The animation on the numbers in the loops was pretty satisfying. I love physics-based puzzles :)

squimmy 2020-10-06 01:07

The idea behind this game is really well executed. The sound and visuals are clear and simple, the puzzles have variety and depth while never feeling contrived or over-complicated, and the difficulty is at just the right level where it's challenging, but not so hard it's frustrating. Well done.

delightfullymad 2020-10-06 01:18

Absolutely love this concept. would be great as an app or something too. Easy to learn hard to master. Very well done!

drsmey 2020-10-06 01:37

Amazing game! Could definitely see it being upgraded to something more!

mlkvr 2020-10-06 01:40

Perfect jam game doesnt exi-

citdev-chris 2020-10-06 01:42

Horrible at this, but really like it.

comari 2020-10-06 01:43

Super fun game! I hadnt thought of something like this. Very on to the nose for the theme and addictive.

tutti-ankka 2020-10-06 01:43

I don't know if I can say anything that haven't been said before, but.. This game would really work well as a mobile game, so maybe keep that in mind. Other than that it's just fantastic. Simple but addicting gameplay and doesn't feel like it's games fault when you fail. Really well done!

thebooksnail 2020-10-06 01:59

couldn't stop playing.

reef 2020-10-06 02:00

I really loved the mechanic in this game. 1 played it all the way to the end and didn't get too frustrated, it was so satisfying! I think the minimalism was perfect and you didn't over complicated it. You made good use of the simple concepts the game introduced. I think you could explore this further with many, many more levels. It would be a perfect mobile game.

albuquerque 2020-10-06 02:22

I like the game feel and simplicity of the game.

bicheste 2020-10-06 02:44

Simple, fun and well executed. Very good use of the theme.

feh 2020-10-06 02:54

Really smart game!

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-06 03:01

@feh Obrigado! :)

mfischer3d 2020-10-06 03:02

very fun game love the core game mechanic and how you added little things progressively

feh 2020-10-06 03:07

@luc-creationallabs Woooo, BR? :3

magnusfurcifer 2020-10-06 03:10

This might be the most well executed and original game concept I've seen in a game jam. I played right through to the end. Amazing work. This concept has serious legs if you chose to run with it. I would definitely pick up a full version with more content and features.

I only have minor bits of feedback that are more opinion than anything and don't take away from this entry as a jam game; make some of the circles not have a number requirement so you can skip them in speed runs, add a timer, stuff like that.

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-06 03:14

@feh Sim haha. A propósito, o jogo de vocês ficou incrível, que art f***!

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-06 03:23

@magnusfurcifer Thank you very much for your comment, I'm glad you liked the game. This jam was definitely a very positive surprise to me. I'm probably going to create a few more levels for fun in the future, I'll let you know if something new comes out :)

feh 2020-10-06 03:42

@luc-creationallabs AAAAAAA valeu fico muito feliz por ler isso c: <3

evil-as-shit 2020-10-06 04:47

Very fun game! Very minimalistic and enjoyed playing through the whole thing!

mmason 2020-10-06 04:47

Wonderful game that really shows you can do a lot with so little. Get a bumping soundtrack in there, add some more levels and you've got yourself a marketable game.

namnam 2020-10-06 10:18

Such a cool game, probably my favorite so far. The mechanic is so obvious that i would have loved to have this idea myself. Game feel is amazing and there is something about the mood that feels like the inside of an old computer or this kind of stuff. I hope you will keep working on this one, with a story, some neat art and music, it would be a true gem that i would pay for without a doubt.

louiejams 2020-10-06 12:21

Very cool idea and executed very well! Such a great accomplishment for a compo game, truly well done! <3

indiequest 2020-10-06 12:45

Perfect game for a jam, simple intresting mechanic that creates interesting levels, great job!

easygoingdubber 2020-10-06 13:19

Them boi, this is really great game <3 i love the idead of simplicity, give so much fun and no needs to do more <3 pointed to theme and also sounds effects are fit into it

anomay 2020-10-06 13:41

Interesting mechanic! I begin to wonder how many kind of level can be created

galrosh 2020-10-06 14:07

Super simple concept, yet very effective. Love it i played it to the end ! Great job !

tamail 2020-10-06 14:23

This is hands down one of the best games I've seen here so far! Loved everything about it, could play it for hours. Also the sound was just perfect, the minimalistic art was perfect, everything was perfect, please stop interrupting me I need to get back to playing this game... Here, have all the points I can give you

ded 2020-10-06 14:47

nice idea & execution, but the game is pretty hard (at least for me )...

sadly the game crashed in the second level with brown barricades around circles... not enough patience to play again, so I've ended there

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-06 15:22

@ded this is totally a feature, it's a secret easter egg that I added. :) Thanks for testing the game.

arzi 2020-10-06 16:21

Simple, yet brilliant idea!

croxel-studios 2020-10-06 17:45

Simple and highly polished, as it should be.

This is my favourite entry so far, the scope was perfectly calculated for the compo and it resulted in a highly consistent and polished game.

The walls mechanic was also a great addition, more ideas like that could be added to expand the game even further and add more levels. I would gladly play a longer version of this game if you decide to continue develpment of it :D

thejohnyfeed 2020-10-06 18:09

Great game! The gameplay is interesting, the art is beautiful and the sounds are good.

victor-reiner 2020-10-06 18:23

Addictive to the limit. It's great. I'd pay for this game. It's great

darkmax14 2020-10-06 19:25

Kept me hooked to the very end, the visual feedback is really solid and feels super polished

shubi-oni 2020-10-06 19:26

This game is without a doubt the best of this ludum 10/10

mikolaj-luczko 2020-10-06 20:17

A simple but brilliant idea and flawless execution. Great game!

indivicivet 2020-10-06 21:44

good: nice idea that fits the theme well. clean minimal graphics and implementation (easy to figure out what to do -- the final circle going green when you clear the numbers is a good touch). cute "bloop" sfx. nicely paced introduction of mechanics.

bad: the physics (esp the way you accelerate when you're in a loop) seemed a bit unintuitive. often felt like I could go for a jump slightly sooner than I could. also some parts felt slightly too much just like trial and error/required more patience than I want to have ^^ possibly related to the point about acceleration

archock34 2020-10-07 00:58

This game is great! Very well applied the theme! Well done and very good game!

mnursey 2020-10-07 04:21

Very nice game. Really awesome idea and nice execution. This could be make into a sick rhythm game ;P

arad-hamidsamiee 2020-10-07 08:37

Pretty game, simple art but good mechanics

fishmasterino 2020-10-07 12:48

Very nice take on the theme and implementation

rawb 2020-10-07 20:34

This is my favourite game of this Ludum Dare. So unique and well designed. Great work!

bobemv 2020-10-07 23:21

This is not good, this is EXCELLENT. Not a flaw. This is already a product and there are hundred of PAID games (small games I mean) which are far less games than this compo game (not even a jam!!!).

Thank you, I had a lot of fun and it had me grinning while playing. Congratulations, this is no doubt one of the best entries.

celuloide 2020-10-08 08:01

Man I had a BLAST playing this! the gameplay, the sfx, the minimalistic graphics... it all felt GREAT, I loved it. Good job!!

caeonosphere 2020-10-08 17:07

Got to the end! You are welcome for playing your little game. The physics work just how you expect them to, which is satisfying. Must have taken some iteration. I think one more mechanic would have hit that sweet spot, but I know how quick those hours tick down. Same thing happened to me this compo! You did a great job of polishing the core mechanic. Nice work!

merlinnsound 2020-10-08 22:05

Great game! Well balanced, good level design. It's a puzzle game, where reaction matters a lot. Well done!

tino 2020-10-08 22:48

I fell in love with the bouncing animation. Ofc it is a compo so you probably did the level designs last but if there is a planned post jam version I think the mechanics you created have much more level design potential than what you did (which were already decent, especially with 48h to do everything).

malashik 2020-10-08 23:01

This one is just a masterpiece! I just got sucked into this game! No even need in music with so meditative sounds. The game is feeling very good, physics are great! Just very good job, man!

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-08 23:15

@malashik Oh, thank you! Right, I was thinking about a Tibetan Singing Bowl when I chose the sound of the loop :). Thanks for testing the game and for the feedback.

king-cacti 2020-10-09 05:12

a very neat little game! the graphics are simple but fun and the reference to the theme is really well done!

earlybard 2020-10-09 06:52

Fantastic idea. I love the simple concept that nails the theme. Great work!

mrbrixican 2020-10-10 02:45

So simple, yet so fun.

sophiemae0 2020-10-10 03:55

For such a simple game it nails all categories! It took me a little while to figure out that staying in a loop longer makes me speed up, but once I did this game was totally addictive. And the sound perfectly matches up with the graphics. Great job :)

wheatleyscience 2020-10-10 14:36

very inovative idea and concept :)

kurt-roembke 2020-10-10 14:59

Really good. The only gameplay criticism I have is that the segments where you have to reenter the circle multiple times to move forward was way more tedious than fun and felt like it slowed down my interest in continuing to play. I think it was much stronger when it was combinations of jumps and obstacles rather than repeat entry bits. The game is so well polished that it also makes me wish the music/sound was just as polished. The Tibetan Singing Bowl would have been stronger if each circle had its own frequency so that the sound was a bit more adaptive to play. That being said, the game is already super well polished and the audio that is there does enough to not detract from the game. Awesome job!!!

toccio94 2020-10-10 15:07

It has a very easy to grasp and very fun gameplay. It was fun to complete it, though near the end I started to be a bit annoyed. Maybe because it is fun but a bit too repetitive, can't say for sure!

The mechanic of needing to go into a loop more than once is cool, but as now it could be used better, since it is more like "bounce 3 more times in this loop than go on", and it seems just to make the level longer artificially, just for the sake of it.

I liked the minimal style and combined with the sound produced by the ball spinning it gives it a nice mood! The fact that the music is created by the ball rotating in the loop is cool, I wouldn't add a background sound to be honest, it could detract from the mood. I didn't like too much the others sfx tho. Brown for the shield was not so nice as a color to be honest lol

Since you only need to press a button, you could make any button valid to throw the ball, space is ok but using only the right hand for comfort I needed to move all the keyboard to the right.

That said, it's a very polished game, great work!

Edit: I've just seen this is a compo game, extra nice work!

moritz-jaeger 2020-10-10 15:19

Well made game with great and simple ideas, level design and controls!

mog13 2020-10-10 15:25

This was addictive! i like how you introduced the core mechanic and then built it up. Everytime you added something it was simple to understand but then built up in challenge. Really well designed and put together! Great job

duke 2020-10-10 15:53

This was excellent! Very very polished for a compo entry. It really felt like a finished product! The game mechanics are very intuitive and satisfying to pull off. I didn't encounter any bugs or other things that are worth of mentioning in regards of criticism. Congrats! The sound effects worked well and even the missing music didn't decrease the immersion value. (though, a spacey synth track would've fit the game perfectly i think). In terms of art and graphical fidelity as a whole, it's basic but clean. There is of course room to improve the art to vary the backgrounds between the levels and add some more eye candy but that's not really necessary for the initial jam entry.

All in all a VERY good compo, possible the best I've played so far.

ismael-rodriguez 2020-10-10 16:00

Great game! One of my favorites! Everything works, theme fits, mechanics are good.

forever.png

It's possible to bounce up and down here forever (or a really long time). No big deal because R resets.

notcrazy.png

I'm not crazy about these spinning walls, feels a little random trying to wait for the perfect moment to escape AND land.

The audio on the spinning can become a little much, but it does add to the mood, not sure what to do with that other than mute.

Overall it's a great game! Good job!

jd557 2020-10-10 16:17

Great game!

I can't believe I reached the end, I am really bad at it, but it's pretty addictive :P

morpheuszero 2020-10-10 16:26

I had a ton of fun with this game. Good job!

onkel-mo 2020-10-10 17:18

That was really fun! Quite intuitive but challenging. I like the minimalistic graphics.

Also, a very innovative take on the topic. All in all, this is an excellent game!

angela-he 2020-10-10 19:07

This was so good yet so minimalistic. Like.. how did you even come up with this concept? And then figure out the physics to do this? Another LD47 game that I'll be adding to my favorites, I think.

nsadie 2020-10-10 19:25

I really enjoyed that! Excellent presentation, minimalistic design with great gameplay. I like how the puzzles ramp up and teaches you along the way without using any instructions!

eweren 2020-10-10 22:00

Great game. Really makes addictive. I don't know if it is meant to be like that, but I think those spinning not-full circles should not subtract the counter of the loops surrounded by them on bounce back! Other than that very polished and really fun to play. Hope there will me bore levels soon

beats 2020-10-11 00:32

A simple but effective concept with solid levels and gameplay. Although the use of the theme was obvious it is integrated into the core mechanic super well.

Not sure if intended but when you need to re-enter a circle and the brown circle is surrounding it's circumference, you can just shoot at the brown circle to meet the re-entry requirements.

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-11 01:22

@beats Thank you! Yes it was on purpose, I left it like this trying to get an "aha moment" when the player finds out that he doesn't even need to leave the loop to complete reentries in these cases, I don't know if it worked. "aha moments" are hard to craft :) Thanks for playing and for the feedback :)

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-11 01:33

Hey @angela-he. I'm glad you enjoyed the game! The concept was born out of pure pressure, short time and anxiety haha, the more limitations the more room for creativity to appear :). Thanks for playing it and for the feedback. ... And I have to say, the message that your game brings is great, thanks for doing it and for addressing so many important topics in your other games too, totally awesome things.

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-11 01:38

Hey @duke , thank you very much for your feedback. I'm thinking of creating a full version of the game with more mechanics and more levels, your music suggestion was very welcome, I think that spacey synth track would really match the game.

jiri-hysek 2020-10-11 10:23

What a fun! It's so simple but I love the concept. I spent a lot of time in this game :)

joleon 2020-10-11 15:05

Man, full marks all around :)

The mechanics and physics are so weird, but they're so satisfying to play around with, and I loved getting good at this game.

Sound effects equally weird and satisfying, fit in really well.

I love the combination of simple tight art style and super juicy elastic feedback on everything.

Great difficulty curve, great number of levels, and level design.

Great job! :purple_heart:

P.S. the end screen is super cute and clever

wabble 2020-10-11 18:57

Very Fun game! Love the mechanic

frankarlovic 2020-10-13 13:07

It's much fun for such a simple game, really loved the interactions with the platforms, juicy.

rikitaner 2020-10-13 21:00

Very innovative game! I love the way you interpreted the theme and the execution is great! I had a lot of fun playing it (just the right amount of frustration when failing)! My only complaint is that I find the looping sound effect a little bit annoying. I like the idea of it, but it sounds a bit off. Overall loved it, great entry!

pushking 2020-10-16 18:25

This game grips you, sometimes hurts you, but you can not go untill you finish it. Very good execution! Minimalistic and innovative. Great job!

kuviman 2020-10-17 10:24

Love the idea! I wish there were more levels and different mechanics

luc-creationallabs 2020-10-17 16:06

@kuviman I'm glad you had fun with the game. I am creating more levels (it will probably be ready in 2 or 3 days) for the android version and after finishing the Ludum Dare voting period I will update the web version as well.

satolas 2020-10-18 01:21

Loved the graphics, super minimal, and the sound design, all fits together and its super polished ! Well done :-)

Love the design, audio and the idea. Already got the Android version as well, a game jam well spent - beautiful execution and use of the theme. Hope to see this get big, getting mini-metro vibes!

Nice game, the numbers inside the loops are good idea and mechanics are cool.

Really nice minimalistic look and feel that is also very pragmatic at the same time.

Immediately understandable and yeah, you probably want to release this on mobile as well.

I enjoyed this a lot.

BTW: What version of unity did you build this on, since it claimed on my safari that it doesn't support some required graphics mode (all other unity web builds have run fine)? I played this fine on chrome.

Very inventive game! I think some soothing music would have gone nicely along with this, mainly because the precise inputs can take their toll on you emotionally by the end (I kid!). I think there's a fantastic kernel of an idea here, and you executed it well. Excellent work.

Brilliantly executed.

The graphics of the game were decent. Although the graphics were quite simple, I liked the simple animations that brought the game to life. I also liked the sound effects in the game, particularly the calming sound that plays when the ball is stuck in a loop. I think this game could be more accessible to players by adding a proper tutorial. When I first started playing, I did not understand the importance of the numbers in the loops.

Hey @satolas! I would love to launch on IOS, but the problem is that macs are VERY expensive in my country (the cheapest model costs 8 times the minimum wage), I would have to work 6 months and not spend anything to be able to buy one. So at the moment, it's a little bit complicated. :)

This is awesome! I regret not playing in time to rate, but I enjoyed it a lot. It was extremely well polished, and very satisfying to play :-)
