LD46 — Keep it alive

HEAL ME PLZ by Pietro Ferrantelli 2020-04-22T21:52:26Z

Great art and game play!

The Ludum Dare Flame 🔥 by tobiasw 2020-04-22T19:46:58Z

Great UI and implementation.

He Protec by ildfuglen 2020-04-21T19:39:03Z

Great mechanics!

Rise of the Purple Slime by NateTheGreat 2020-04-23T22:12:01Z

i played this game the most out of all ludum dare games so far!

The Last Robot Archer by bernard-bumblebutt 2020-04-21T16:31:13Z

great music. love the stop to shoot mechanic.

Vestige by BitPokit 2020-04-26T01:28:32Z

Fun game and great execution! Music and graphics are fantastic. It took me a little bit to figure out that where I click with the mouse didn't matter on the direction of the attack and even when I figured that out I still kept trying to click in a direction to attack.

Across the Lake by stephan steinbach 2020-04-21T16:33:55Z

great graphics, flows so smoothly.

Shah by William Steve 2020-04-22T20:54:15Z

I love this! Use QWE keys for quick play!

Finterior Decorator by illuminegames 2020-04-22T19:28:12Z

I struggled with placing things on the walls, but otherwise an amazingly polished looking game!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

What Goes Around by Omiya Games 2020-10-18T18:15:43Z

I love the looping effect of enemies shooting around the sphere. I appreciate the auto fire. It seemed too easy at first for too long and then it got difficult really fast. The color mechanics was a nice touch.

Closing the Loop by Frederika 2020-10-26T04:11:21Z

I'm definitely envisioning a game where you get to learn more and more about circuits with each level when playing this!

a nice place by netmute 2020-10-05T18:52:11Z

My only complaint is that I wanted more! 10/10 would go to a nice place again.

Stuck in a drum loop by rodobodolfo 2020-10-23T02:38:44Z

Cool concept! It took me a few tries to understand what was going on but then it was fun to come up with strategies to beat it. It would have been helpful for there to be an keyboard input pause right after collection of the drum piece to keep me from moving up one at the start and dying.

Loop Royale by rayriver 2020-10-18T18:32:06Z

Fun game! The sfx hurt my ears a bit, too crunchy. I like how hard it can be when it gets down to 1 on 1, so intense! IMO, good balance of difficultly. Nice touch of difference height and color NPCs. I wish restart went straight back in game and not the title screen.

BUSHIDŌ by wujood 2020-10-10T18:28:26Z

I love the amount of content for this game considering it's a jam, feels just right. I did struggled with dying from things I thought were background art and sometimes took a few tries to realize what I was dying from.

Looping Dancefloors by dkdwrek 2020-10-05T18:19:59Z

Just finished the game! The layers of progress of the music was cool. I don't play many rhythm games but I always want to, I'm glad I was able to play this!

U.F.O.M.O by dvdfu 2020-10-06T00:42:12Z

Really cute game. Great controls and graphics. Love the ending.

Kinalo by mutuware 2020-10-05T18:26:12Z

Theme is on point! The first few seconds I was rather confused but it ended up being rather enjoyable. Nice smooth tradition of the player and great music! Good job predicting player behavior!

Purgatory is a Music Store by MattWoelk 2020-10-13T16:50:00Z

I love music games in spite of having little skill. This is a fun game with a perfect mood. I would have liked a free play option to have more time to get a feeling for a tune.

Free The Rollies! by gamesplusjames 2020-10-11T00:45:38Z

Good music, sfx, and that you have to use speed up to get 3 stars. The lever needs a little work on it's speed, I'm thinking switching it one direction will cause it to move to that side instead of directly controlling it.

Just Again by zeu31 2020-10-10T19:01:35Z

I love how chaotic it gets and how you feel like there's no way you can find a path in, and then you do!

wheelspin by stoogebag 2020-10-27T16:43:37Z

The music and text gives it a really good feel. The movement can get a little frustrating (but goes with mood), it would be nice if jumping off ledge was a little more forgiving.

The Turning Point by zaibakk 2020-10-18T19:04:51Z

I broke the loop! The clock was a nice touch! An sfx for getting an incorrect input would have been nice. I didn't realize you could click on the person during the commute or things in the bedroom until I read the comments.

Pip's Journey by JemSmith 2020-10-14T23:48:07Z

I had so much fun playing this game. Would love if some of the white pieces moved so you could avoid the quickly moving to capture them before they can capture you mechanic.

Run Hamster Run! by LillyByte 2020-10-13T18:44:41Z

10/10 has snails. Loved the graphics. I did get game over a few times and couldn't see what caused it. You hit the keys when they are at the bottom I think? Maybe there's a max distance? Couldn't figure that part out. I think my max score was 6.

wfh by Noxbuds 2020-10-26T04:18:27Z

I laughed, I cried, I gave up and fed the cat. I love the concept of this and the implementation is pretty good to. It only took me one failure on the first day to get the hang of it. Several time little touches in the game too! Like the cat moving away from you and the sfx. All this is missing IMO is a little more polish and a few more ways of interacting with the cat.

Saisons by Gaming Night 2020-10-20T15:49:06Z

I love music games and I love how this game incorporates music in such a simple way. If this wasn't a jam game, I would have liked to have seen an easier setting to make the game more accessible. As you mentioned in the comments, I like the idea of achievements for this game.

The Curse of Cattenburg by Honest Dan 2020-10-06T21:09:13Z

I went in without reading any instructions like a true gamer. Everything was intuitive and I could figure out almost everything just playing. The one thing I didn't catch is the card memory aspect and rows moving down. I assumed it was a re-shuffle each turn. When playing I couldn't wait to get around the board to get a new character! The art was amazing! I'm looking forward to playing it some more because I want to see the other characters and beat Möbius Rat!

Caterpillar Cowboy by eldogg 2020-10-07T00:07:18Z

10/10 would be a canoodling cowpokin' caterpillar cowboy again

Loopy Orbits by Ziamor 2020-10-06T02:03:53Z

Those asteroids are out to get me! As everyone else said, great relaxing game. Superb music.

The Loop by Jin9310 2020-10-18T18:38:57Z

My high score, 282. Chill music and fun. I had to turn up the brightness on my monitor to clearly see the obstacles from the background. An effect to let you know you were scoring from the obstacles as they past the screen would have helped in figuring out how it was being calculated.

Caterpiloop by Marcus Otterstrom 2020-10-10T18:05:31Z

Love graphics, sfx, and mechanics! Ending the race from touching the obstacles or other bugs is abrupt. I would love if they bumped you instead of ending the race, thus making the next race even harder if you don't get knocked off the branch.

Rat Inc by Wouter Deferme 2020-10-05T18:00:41Z

Oh no, I now know the secret!

For some reason it took me a good minute before I realized this was even a clicker game! It was a fun surprised for me. Great game, really fun. The voices were perfect and the game was nicely polished.

Onrail by JammedGame 2020-10-18T19:11:51Z

Loved the graphics. I liked that the train couldn't crash. good progression. I didn't realize you can move the camera round for some time.

Crash Thunderstud Returns by JavaSaurus 2020-10-05T19:30:45Z

I love that the controls work on mobile! I wanted to do that for my game but didn't get to it. Audio settings! Audio settings that save! ~~Only thing I want is high score to save.~~ it was already there lol

Wizard Recurse by Ismael Rodriguez 2020-10-26T05:12:09Z

Such polish, such great audio! I almost played through it at 2nd time to avoid the coins in the 2nd run but I'm guessing it doesn't change the words in the end...but I guess I won't know unless I try!

Looped by Barney25052 2020-10-05T19:13:01Z

I got stuck in a loop unable to complete a stage and couldn't tell if it was by design or not, :joy: Design and graphics were great. no restart stage button?

Once More, Dear Friends by GibsS 2020-10-05T19:57:21Z

One of my favorite games so far! Really fun mechanics.

Robetrotter by Tyrael 2020-10-05T16:58:56Z

Great graphics and I loved the progression of difficulty.

Terror of the Lazy River by Birdwards 2020-10-23T00:03:58Z

HIHSCORE.jpg First I played Normal a few times and sunk each times so I thought it was a overly difficult game. Changed to Easy and breezed through in 43.86. Back to Normal and beat it first try that time in 51.77. I jumped on Hard excited for a challenge and got one. Finally beat it with the score in the screenshot. Great controls, difficulty, theme, graphics, and music!

State your name by OwlyCode 2020-10-05T22:45:37Z

Fun to follow the story. Theme on point. Good sounds/color for each voice.

Spaghetti Quest by peterfonts 2020-10-17T21:05:00Z

I love this! At first I thought it would get too boring too quick, but the scaling of shortening time felt pretty good as you got better at the controls. I would have loved for there to have seen more sauce splattering! 10/10 would stab a tomato again.

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-10T19:09:55Z

Loved the mood, music, and Lily. I liked that I learned the tactic of quickly turning around and firing to get a little extra reach.

HomePick, A Pet Text Adventure by Instafluff 2020-10-09T17:00:51Z

The feels when someone doesn't pick you  10/10 would poo to get adopted again.

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-10T18:24:01Z

I love the balance of score and progression. Very funny game. The 3rd stage gets hard really fast for me. Love the idea of going for highest negative score.

Stuck Machines by Fractal 2020-10-26T22:54:28Z

I had given up but seeing others get it I had to give it another go and I persevered and escaped! Mouse over highlights would be a nice touch (along with some music). Since people struggle so much at first it would be good if there was some more simpler puzzle elements to get them in the groove. Maybe another indication of what is changing, like a specific sound cue, not sure though as that's a hard problem to solve.

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-10T18:44:38Z

wait, this is a jam game? Very well done and polished. controls feel great. Love the bullet bouncing on the one gun. I always turn off screen shake and would like to here as well. Is that a megalovania homage in the music? I love it.

Stuck in Time by Wesley Vong 2020-10-26T04:53:04Z

A nice little game, it was fun seeing all my clones run around. I second the people asking for a more complex element to add each successful loop. I would have played it even more.

Hamsters in a Mech by Jake Crabtree 2020-10-27T16:03:23Z

Very hard but I love the concept! Great that you can swap them around. I felt rather sluggish when trying to move around but I think there needs a little easier ramp up of difficulty to start with.

Lucky Lefty Loves Loops by TheBookSnail 2020-10-07T22:21:02Z

@ausstein you dropped this :crown:

Idol by Geryon Games 2020-10-05T18:51:03Z

I got the idol! oh wait... I liked the mechanics, had a little trouble playing boxes at first until I got used to it. I really liked the little details.

unfriendly AI by Ekoxe 2020-10-11T00:34:12Z

Confusing at first but I liked the ending. I almost gave up after losing to the boss the first time. I liked the concept and that you received the attacks of those you defeated. I would have liked more of some kind of tie in with the attacks/bosses. Maybe some animations of the sorting type in the background.

Undead Carnival Carnage by dummydojo 2020-10-18T19:18:09Z

Ditto what everyone else said, great game all around. I didn't beat it the first few times I played it so I had to come back and beat it today. It was surprising easy to beat today on first try without taking damage. I'm thinking it must have a nice progression of the player understanding what to do the first few times they play and gets easier the more you play. I found myself wishing the carousel changed directions between stages.

Roll A Loop by Tristan10Cats 2020-10-05T19:07:32Z

I really liked the slow speed up progression and the scoring. Starts getting really intense! High score 38.

ReReReSpawn by Arttu Halonen 2020-10-08T05:16:38Z

I had a lot of fun playing! The game mechanics and goal become instantly understandable without reading any instructions. Very clearly laid out. I was surprised (and jealous) at the path finding of the enemy.

Paper Planes by SamDemaine 2020-10-05T18:30:54Z

The resolution didn't work right for the HTML version for me, I couldn't see part of the right side of the game so when dots spawned there I couldn't see them. Otherwise I loved it! Great movement, graphics, and sounds! So smooth!

Oh my Life by KarenFarah 2020-10-18T20:55:12Z

really interesting with the switching of styles. simple sfx for such things as walking would have helped a lot with the feel of the game.

Orbit by ZEN 2020-10-06T01:14:38Z

I like the one button mechanic. Nice and simple yet made me pause for a bit to figure out how to play correctly and win.

Eloi's Adventure by Convg 2020-10-05T17:10:47Z

Just finished the game! First few jumps were rough until I got used to the controls, then it was fun skipping through the stages. I thought I was going to get stuck once where I couldn't jump high enough but sometimes I would get a super jump. The aiming and shooting felt nice. I would have liked some game indication for when I was getting hurt besides the health bar.

Right Side Up by TheJonu 2020-10-10T18:39:25Z

Pretty fun game. I liked the verity of weapons to use. I also had black boxes on stage transition and a block bar on the right side of the screen.

A tale of Loopism by Pomo 2020-10-06T14:12:58Z

robot, music, and voices are great. can't wait for timer. i would have liked a little more light, the dark shadows under the platforms were hard on my eyes. seeing people struggle with the controls makes it feel like there needs to be a tutorial to make sure people can use high jump, double jump, shift correctly.

Vacuum Cleaner Simulator by Jasuse 2020-10-08T02:04:13Z

After seven days I figured out the ending  I was hoping to escape the house and have a giant world revealed to me. Nonetheless, very well done.

Stuck in a Day by Franci 2020-10-26T04:30:16Z

Cheerios defeated me every time :sob: I love how the timing changes each time for the mini games and I was surprised at how many there were. Many nice little touches such as the sfx feedback for cleaning dishes (which the teeth brushing also needed). It took me about 10 card swipe failures before I realized I need release the mouse click after a failure to get it to try again, I kept trying to re-swipe while holding down since the first failure. But I finally got a card swipe! I assumed it went on forever to I stopped it only to realize I didn't get a high score set since I didn't let my hearts run out.

Derps 'n' Dergs - One shot to save the world! by Kooh 2020-10-08T02:24:20Z

I really dig the art style for it. I have become a convert of button feedback order and think it would help this look even better if there were mouse over and click feedback on the buttons. It's possible you didn't have time for it but it's something I'm going to try to always get to in future jams.

Re:Live by Ciber_Turtle 2020-10-10T19:53:24Z

10/10 would wear a different hat again. I love the hold R to restart animation to avoid accidental restarts.

Evo Battle by Arthur Silva 2020-10-27T15:59:08Z

Love that it has auto fire. A little panic-y when you take damage and your ship stops firing when there's more incoming! Good audio.

Sisyphus Beetle Takes His Daughter to Work by pee-thief 2020-10-06T03:10:31Z

Great art! Is the daughter a Ten-lined June beetle? The jokes were a surprisingly good incentive to get to the top, I wish there were more jokes!

Groovy Loops by Simpathey 2020-10-18T20:40:19Z

I love music games and the concept for this was solid! I think the later levels had the goal off the screen for me so I had to stop playing because it became to hard to guess where it might be while jumping off screen. I would have liked a little bit of a shorter cool down for removing and adding a new clone. This is fantastic for a first jam submission!

Neo by teronk 2020-10-06T13:13:24Z

The platform spinning and pushing of them was well done. Had fun playing the 2 levels. Really cool that there's 1 player and 2 player modes.

FarmerDude by DavideMoriello 2020-10-27T16:10:55Z

I got stuck in a loop where the shovels bounced back in forth  After waiting 5 minutes they finally bounced off the screen. Pretty well made for the jam. I would have really liked audio.

The Song of Spiral Sam by Ashley Koett 2020-10-06T01:08:26Z

How could I not play this game? Very trippy game and mood at first. Good background music. Played it 3 times to get different endings. 10/10 would commit dream crimes to spiral dance again.

Load It by ryan hallmann 2020-10-26T04:46:11Z

So many times I thought, whelp, that must be everything in the game, and it wasn't  I persevered and got it to load! Very funny and well executed.

Hudson by Dharby 2020-10-22T04:01:59Z

Very fun! I had to keep playing until I beat it. IMO a great balance of difficulty since it requires you to play it a few times to get the hang of it. Music was great! It took me a little while to figure out what to do with the ability orbs (due to never reading the instructions ) The only weak point would be the theme now showing through enough.

Transit by GammaRomeo 2020-10-11T00:57:59Z

Good game idea for jam theme, I can't relate . I would recommend getting some audio in for it, a little sound goes a long way. It was pretty hard to see my switch changes since it was visibly represented on the map or in the close up of the train. More visual feedback would be helpful. A camera that had a little delay to the movement instead of being locked on the fast moving train would help with motion sickness.

Grabby - The Ultimate Grabbinator by rucksack 2020-10-19T21:45:45Z

10/10 would escape again. I had some trouble with the movement, if you continue working on it I would love to try it again with some polished movement. I would always take damage from the tank missile things. I was always trying to jump over the missiles but can't get enough height.

In The Loop by Luc-creationallabs 2020-10-06T01:59:13Z

couldn't stop playing.

Universalis by Hawkin 2020-10-18T19:40:21Z

10/10 would smash orbital bodies together again. Looking forward to the objective mode!

Hamster Death Loop by Lauri Karjalainen 2020-10-26T04:58:06Z

At first I was all, is this it? That's fine, I'll jam out while doing some hops to these heavy bops. Oh snap, it's speeding up. Wot?! It's changing locations! First try 30. I had fun and laughed.

Looper by Anguss 2020-10-18T20:47:09Z

My first play score was 79 and then I ended up not being able to beat that  I love that there's difficulty settings! I would like to see this game with the graphics fleshed out. I would also be interested in seeing how it played with 3 "lives".

Welcome to TAROT by Bruno Assolari 2020-10-26T04:07:07Z

Once I grasped the game I was rather interested. It was difficult to play at times with not knowing how enemies worked or what even was an enemy. I think I would have liked it even more it the movement was hexagon tile based, but still real time.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Date Night by Togis 2021-04-30T03:03:26Z

6 coffees in 3 minutes? Can relate. I noticed you can click things before they finish (coffee and printer). I assumed it was intentional but I failed a coffee run missing sugar and milk, which I assume was do to clicking too quickly? Very humorous and fun jam entry! Loved the sound, graphics, and gameplay. Solid all around!

Freg, Fregg, and Freggy: The Last Band by Honest Dan 2021-04-30T22:48:45Z

I was getting a crash in the canyons with a previous version but no problems for me in 1.0.5! It took me a while to understand the tile order stack on the right and I had a hard to visually telling which biome I currently was in due to the darkness, but by the end of the game I got it. All it took for me was to make use of the mouse overs. Art was amazing, of course. Despite my initial confusion, I started getting into the possibilities of the game mechanics of balancing lantern brightness and stacking easier biomes to get more cards after exhausting them. Might be nice to have a way to throw cards away instead of not useful cards just scrolling off. The music at the title screen and into story felt great. Steller job overall as usual. (Also super happy to see frogs in the game, I was going to add a frog somewhere in my game but didn't get to it)

Digging In by Fis 2021-04-27T21:06:54Z

Got 5171m on 2nd play through. Love the cat and movement feels good. It feels like it doesn't get harder and is mostly about surviving. If so it's balanced well. It gets a little chaotic when bouncing off the rocks but it feels a forgiving with the cooldown.

Soaring Under by jitspoe 2021-04-27T16:29:32Z

The music! The failed sfx! The gliding! So polished, I'm jealous. Racking my brain for suggestions, uhhh... don't listen to people who say it's too hard? ;)

Legend of the Goblin Hoard by Bauke Regnerus 2021-04-27T18:49:51Z

10/10 for music! I also like the art for the models. It does a good job of teaching the player how to get a little better each time.

Lucky Lefty Loves Leftovers by TheBookSnail 2021-04-27T19:07:25Z

my current high score is 703.31 with plenty of room for improvement.

Lucky Lefty Loves Leftovers by TheBookSnail 2021-04-28T16:01:56Z

@noctuaris12 the first person to find the flying pizza rat angel skill!

To Return To One's Root by C3ll256 2021-04-27T16:20:35Z

The art style is great! I loved the ant. The dual theme of going deeper down along with reincarnation was well done. I can't really think of any suggestions. Having more creatures would be nice but due to the time limitations of the jam it's understandable for it to be limited.

Deep Sea Trip by Pomo 2021-04-27T14:31:44Z

The difficultly level to playtime ratio on this game is perfect! This one of those games I wanted to play several times. Online leader board as well?! I struggled the most with the pufferfish, always shooting at them right before they could be hit. I could never tell if it was just me or if the timing of when they became in focus was different from other enemies.

BugDive by Tad I Guess 2021-04-27T16:52:22Z

Here for geargug. Music fits really nice. Love the bugs and wizard. Overall great mood! Later levels are a little too chaotic for me, I would have liked some more intermediate levels like the one's with bugs peaking out behind other objects (too cute).

Solar Subs by Simpathey 2021-04-27T14:25:27Z

I got a high score of 60! Only because I'm a dirty cheater who exploits bugs by double clicking the subs in the web build. -10 internet points to me. But back to the game, The light and shadow effects were great! I loved watching the creatures swim past my light. I only wished there was a to slow down and enjoy the visuals while also preserving the high score competitiveness. Maybe a free play mode with no timer?

Little Mother by Save Sloth Studios 2021-04-27T20:48:19Z

trust in the snail.

LD49 — Unstable

Mine Shift by tiptoe 2021-10-07T17:16:03Z

Nice. It took me a little bit to understand, but once I did it's a fun game.

Warp Engineer Simulator by Kichiguy 2021-10-06T20:46:54Z

I love this. The 5 sliders get me every time!

DOOMSDAY INSTABILITIES by Pierre.F 2021-10-06T00:42:09Z

The game might work if it's set to have full screen in itch or have it launch in full screen on the itch game page settings. I was able to play it by looking at source and going to https://v6p9d9t4.ssl.hwcdn.net/html/4561593/index.html and doing full screen. Aome bugs can allow me to never end the game, but I can see the intent of the game. I really liked the concept of the political instability of nuclear stockpiles. Trying to keep the leader's hand off the buttons was great. I really liked the minimal art style for the leaders.

HONK III by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2021-10-05T21:33:49Z

10/10 would honk three times again. A few times when playing this I thought, "I need to learn how to do that in a game."

Unstable Tricky Table by Pomo 2021-10-07T22:07:57Z

I will settle for tying with Arthurds. Your games are addictive as always, gg. I didn't understand the Ctrl+R for reset instead of just R, but I now understand how you wouldn't want to accidently hit it with so many other key controls.

Stallar by Wendel Scardua 2022-04-21T20:28:29Z

This might be my favorite game entry for the theme. I was racking my brain for positive interpretations of the theme and I like what you came up with.

Coffee Run by jelch 2022-04-11T04:47:53Z

At first when I ran out of energy I thought that was the end of the game...but then the sleep mode! wow, nice addition.

Swerve City by SleepyStudios 2022-04-11T04:27:07Z

At first I thought it was going to be too simple of a game being on rails, but then it ended up being much more involved than I realized. Nice job. I would often see police cars rolling around but didn't get to see what caused it =( might be nice to get a better view with the camera to see all the action!

The Lars Mission by Honest Dan 2022-04-09T21:13:48Z

10/10 my gpu didn't melt. So easy to forget to water the plants or pet the lizard. Great balance of causing you rush around in a panic without it being too complicated. I escaped with 7 on first try (after seeing some people play before hand). It took me a bit to understand find the sweet spot mechanic, but that's due to seeing other people doing it wrong and thinking what they did was right  I would have liked medium sized vines dropping and being able to jump over them or chainsaw them.

Carpe Diem by Pomo 2022-04-05T15:15:37Z

Wipeout was my first try hard game as a kid, so this game pushes all my right buttons. The controls felt too floaty at first but after several tries I got the hang of it. It's always hard to know if the controls need work or if it's normal getting used to it. In the end I think the controls are fine. The graphics fit perfect, the music is a bop, the theme of chasing the sun is great. Obviously a lower bar to get in the leaderboard would be preferred, but you know that. The ledges that shoot you up in the air is the thing that bothered me the most. It would be nice to see the edges of the platforms since a few times I felt I cleared them on a jump but didn't.

Last Stand by TheMightyTrout 2022-04-09T20:48:38Z

I got got round 13 first try, very addictive. The physics works out so great, I don't know how you did that. I kind of stuck to the same strategy and I didn't get too creative.

Crushed by Holtzzy223 2022-04-05T05:54:16Z

1140 on my second play. I love the graphics and camera transition. Overall pretty slick with a small looking scope, I like. If there was more, I would have liked a few different strats to employ (at least more obvious ones) as well as different slope courses. But that's probably an obvious suggestion.

The Assessment by Okamit 2022-04-09T20:57:36Z

SUSHI!!!! I couldn't figure out the sushi and never passed the combo lock =( But I still loved the game. Music is killer. The restart was perfect to keep the fun going.

Losing Your Sheet by rickylee 2022-04-09T20:13:52Z

Love the mechanics and very fun. A+ sound effects. The difficult seems to ramp up slowly which is nice for first play through but it gets a little too hard in my opinion around 100+.

TimeCave by Karahan 2022-04-09T20:18:06Z

I put more time than I was expecting into this game since it was difficult but I wanted to get further. I imagine that is a sign of a good design. At one point I thought I got to a checkpoint but I still started at the beginning =(. Graphics were great!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Reference Frame by cottontshirtz 2022-10-04T01:17:03Z

I like it. Feels innovated. The game is surprisingly relaxing. I agree it needs some different enemies in later stages but maybe that was outside the scope. In some of the games I've played the 10 seconds doesn't work so well but it feels good here.

Beardadette and the Eternal Hiccup by Honest Dan 2022-10-04T04:28:36Z

Art is stellar, the flat 2.5D flare looks so good. A few times I got stuck in a death loop where a wasp would kill me before the checkpoint loaded and I could move, I could work around it for pausing it for a bit. I got stuck on the part with a bunch of wasps, but I'll be giving it another try tomorrow after some sleep.

Alone by creepyounguy 2022-10-04T01:27:53Z

Pro tip, don't try to pet the lizards! Even when they are sleeping! The sound effect when being chased is perfect! And the feeling of escaping when being chased feels great. There's some food I thought was a coiled snake? But you can eat it and it won't kill you. I feel like the stealth mechanics work really well, the stealth part of the game could be messaged to the player in a way to get the players mindset around it instead of trying to treat it like a different type of game.

Lucky Lefty Lost In A Labyrinth by TheBookSnail 2022-10-03T21:23:22Z

@rickylee Thank you so much for pointing this out. Some last minute change must have broke it. I'll tag you when a fix is deployed.

Lucky Lefty Lost In A Labyrinth by TheBookSnail 2022-10-03T22:08:42Z

@rickylee Crash fix deployed. I had some backward index sizes in the win condition check that worked fine as long as the stages had the same width and height, but the first stage with different sizes broke on html5.

Trashpunk by Pomo 2022-10-04T19:16:41Z

Pro tip: don't play this with a mouse touch pad. As I'm acustomed too for a Pomo game, the first time I played I thought the game was way too hard but the more times you play the more you figure out how to play it. I've hit 10 on the high score so I'll take a break...for now.

Wizard's Basement by Kongo 2022-10-04T00:03:38Z

The music is amazing. The game is a little hard to play since I'm team snail. Graphics and game play are great. At first I thought the game was too hard for my tastes but after 3 playthroughs I realize I had bad luck the first time and didn't know what I was doing. Very fun overall.

Bumble Breeze by robin_schmitz 2022-10-04T00:21:40Z

The bumble is amazing, but that dang hedgehog! Got me so many times. I did hit a bug where the shop kept changing options while the menu choices were up and a hedgehog was in slowly moving toward me. I've always wanted to make a wasp game where you are trying to drink nectar to keep your energy up and hunting prey for offspring while avoiding predators, this game has helped give me a few ideas on how to do a better job at that game if I ever make it. Having WSAD and arrows is very useful but the repetitive tapping is tough for those of us with repetitive movement stress problems.

LD52 — Harvest

Click On Fish by Pomo 2023-01-09T05:43:25Z

I feel like ~~Arthur~~ Pomo just tricked me into machine learning my brain. A classic Pomo game where I play it once and feel like I can't do that much better than that, but the more I play the more I realize I can get a higher score. The game loop is tight and the sounds effects (PoP) and voice are great. It escalates very quickly, it possible that could be slowed a little bit (I did skip the tutorial so that might effect my opinion). It feels like it can introduce a new fish and before I ever see a bad fish of it's type it's already introduced yet another new fish. Not good for early play but maybe works fine for once you've gotten better at it.

Those dang skull fish! :tasha:

LD53 — Delivery

Brass Monkeys by johnnysix 2023-05-04T00:27:14Z

I gave it a few tries but couldn't win. Pretty impressive that it can be placed on a phone! It had a very N64 feel, nice. The models were also good. The controls were a little floaty and felt like the jump was too high, but I did like the jump flip.

Beelivery by Jejkobb 2023-05-04T16:35:33Z

Wow, this is such a solid entry. The mechanics were so solid and intuitive. I was holding my breath trying to make it through with my honey at times. The difficulty and time to complete were perfect for a jam game. I could even play without issue on my weird resolution monitor even though the sides of the game were cut off on full screen

Elevander of the Emu Express by Honest Dan 2023-05-03T23:34:40Z

The game just looks amazing and the dash/fly mechanics are perfect imo. I did not like how often I hit my head on things, it would have been nice to have a little bit more head room in a few spots for me. But on the flip side, feeling like a lot of punishment up front makes you learn fast. Despite seeing several other people play it first, it was still very engaging to play and fun figuring out where and how to get the deliveries done. Scored 6,333 on first Normal play.

this is so good. i love the transition of the end to the start.

Hat Game by marcmagus 2023-05-06T16:25:16Z

@jimbly @josemwarrior

I made a quick web version of the game to play for those of us with limited access to a printer (with permission from marcmagus). It doesn't track score, valid placement, or anything like that. It's just placing, flipping, and rotating the pieces on the board. You'll still have to read and follow the rules.

https://thebooksnail.itch.io/hat-game

I would still recommend printing it out on card stock for those who can since it can be more enjoyable as a physical game, especially for multiplayer.

Hat Game by marcmagus 2023-05-09T02:21:05Z

Solo 21 piece quick play score: 18 (next highest shape score 9, for a diff score of 9)

In my play, I rarely did knots and the ones I did do were simple small circles. Counting up the points was surprisingly difficult due to losing track of what I counted.

For solo play it would be nice if there was a score range in the rules to compare of how well you did. Example: diff score of 1-10 novice, 11-15 advanced, 16-20 expert, 20+ master (just guessing at numbers)

I had to read the rules a couple of times to get it (which is normal for board games with me), I want to say the scoring example was well done and very helpful.

Alternative gameplay idea, place all tiles without gaps. Why is this so hard?! Interesting to see how few flipped pieces used to get it to work, trying to add more always resulted in gaps.

Package Punk by Pomo 2023-05-03T23:50:21Z

So far a personal high score of 7. 8 feels within reach for me but I'll need to try several more times. The game looks and feels pretty great. This is one of those games when I see others play, it looks epic but when I'm playing I'm so laser focused I'm not paying attention how cool it looks. It feels like some randomness to the game with the package bouncing around and getting caught on things, but that's not totally a negative for the game. The random bounces adds some extra stress and feel to the game and playing it a few times you start to get a feel for where they spawn locations are so I you can tackle them slightly better than just brute force dragging. Though when a package gets stuck, I cry. Of course needs all the things you don't have time for in a jam: saved highscore user name, a way to get back to title screen, etc. But otherwise I can't think of any suggestions to make it better, already fun. I'm sure there could be a few tweaks to the controls to make it feel a little more smoother, but they are pretty impressive for a jam game.

Spaced by Holtzzy223 2023-05-19T16:18:11Z

Music is great. I loved the aspect of avoiding objects while delivering and seeing objects bounce off you, at first I thought it was a normal over world map going between levels, then I realize, wait, this is part of the game! The ball was frequently way too fast for me, so some balance of speed would be good for me. I also had some rare slow balls but I'm guessing that's just a bug.

Unspecified Postage Service by EmeraldAlkemist 2023-05-09T17:28:56Z

Nice, love the box damage and bouncing around felt nice. I would have liked the movement to be slower, it felt a little random when trying to hit something just right and I would just brute force my way past instead of trying to be precise. I would totally play more levels if they were there.

Postcat by ne_sofa 2023-05-19T01:05:19Z

Nice, I've always wanted to make a runner game. A+ on art and intro. Nice little nod to Dino Run in game as a store front? I would recommend making the obstacles stand out a little more to let the player know they need to jump over it and it's not background art, I ran into the mailbox thinking it was background art on first try. Maybe a light color border around obstacles?

Parked? by o_sim 2023-10-08T15:50:10Z

Controls felt great. I think I only got 1 star on most maps and 0 star on a few, so it could have been slightly less punishing for a jam entry imo. I felt like I didn't have a good idea on what ended the stage successfully, maybe would have been nice to have the parking spot light up when I was fully "in the spot" but then still need to stop moving. Great entry overall. I really like the more puzzley type stages.

LD55 — Summoning

Protect the Summoner by khaotom 2024-04-21T20:04:42Z

Great concept. I was both amused and frustrated at the summoners always standing on both sides of me. It didn't take too long to learn to kite the summoners to get the in defense and not worry about having them stay in the summoner circle the entire time. I wish the summoners didn't get hit by spawning in eyes until their eyes opened, giving a little warning, otherwise they were always being hit when walking around by spawning in enemies, but didn't make it more difficult, so it might be too easy if you had warning

Readybuns by rosypenguin 2024-04-16T12:55:36Z

Played on my phone! Nailed the graphics with your constraints. Good innovation and I like the theme interpretation. The honking sound effect was a little harsh for something you hear over and over again, but I imagine that's a hard problem to solve.

Songbird Symphony by TheBookSnail 2024-04-16T12:45:36Z

@save-sloth-studios, the original idea was do have other birds be attracted by your good singing and would fly away if you did bad. the better you did the more potential mates you would "summon". that ended up being cut due to time :slight_frown:

Demon Lord Revenge by Fataljg 2024-04-16T13:21:26Z

Loved the ground effects while walking with the distance attack, very nice touch. Made me wish the trail could be used an attack or if circling an enemy triggered something. Having 2 weapons to switch between was a great addition to this type of game, I only wish I could switch faster, maybe intentional for balancing?

LD56 - Serpent Surge by rayriver 2024-10-10T21:48:16Z

I thought it was too hard at first but was able to finally not die after the 4 play through. So maybe the difficulty is actually perfect since it kept me playing to try to get a best kill combo early on.

Petri Plate Potpourri by Wendel Scardua 2024-10-13T18:16:25Z

At first I was clearing plates but only later realized I was doing it for the "wrong" reasons. Thinking red or angry faces were bad. I thought that could have been better messaged (for those of us who don't read the instructions  ) BUT I figured it out without making any mistakes in the early stages, so maybe it's the perfect amount of slow progress to let the player get a handle on the game play. Very nice game loop with increasing difficulty. It didn't occur to me right away until the later levels that your time carried over into the next stages.

First play through made it to plate 8 without any mistakes until panic selecting on 8 due to running out of time. Second play through made it plate 7 because I didn't realize incorrect guesses carried over and was being more careless for speed. Third play through made it to 10, I did have some mistakes I was surprised at where there was a single color one I was sure was the imposter but wasn't, I realized I need to be more careful at looking at matching traits.

Clearly lots of replayability for the game.

Ant Simulation by Suchista 2024-10-22T17:41:45Z

Snail away by Thomas_Bringer 2024-10-13T16:43:52Z

I am biased, but best game of the jam. :snail: I've played around with similar mechanics in the past but you did such a better job than I did. More fun and complex than I realized it would be. I threw it off the table so many times with the tall guy, I couldn't help but go for deep court shots. There is a large curve for understanding the players, abilities, spin, and object placements that is great for replayability, though that might get missed by most people looking for a quick playthrough. This is an ambitious game that you managed to pull off! gg.

Squirrel Family by CamComDuck 2024-10-07T23:10:42Z

GG on first LD! Art is cute. Sound effects are everything I want in a jam game. My general nitpicks are due to the limited time frame you probably already know about, hit boxes are unforgiving (It's nice to give the player some wiggle room to make things seem close but still survive as opposed to seeing a big gap and still dying), an audio queue to go along with the owls decent could be useful as it both adds stress and gives the player feedback as to what's going on. I really struggled with spacebar as the action key, I kept trying to jump with it. Adding key bindings for arrow keys along with WASD is always a nice touch for left handers and is usually just a quick add on. I did have to restart several times due to ponds being underground. Good job with button feedback and in game tutorial info, two things often left undone on jam games.

The art and animation is top notch. The music selection fit really well (good job crediting it). I loved the human peering in the background, it took me a minute to even notice it. Overall mood was perfect. I did get stuck several times and it felt kind of lucky to get the boxes to stack. Doing a couple of simple levels with more dialogue from this gruff jaded mouse who has seen some stuff would be been a good addition.

Mouse movement is a bit jittery which I think is part of why it gives some motion sickness vibes.

The idle sheep bah, is award winning onomatopoeia. Taking the time to add colorblind support is amazing for a compo entry. Sheep rolling and art design adds a fun ascetic. Good play time for a game jam imo, might be a touch too hard for people trying to speed run a ton of games.

Great compo entry, love to see it.
