Great game guys Out of the box Idea, Simple Controls, Immersing game play! Keep up the good work :v:
Loved the chess game play feel. Felt like the controls could be a little bit more responsive, got a little frustrated when i couldn't click my characters.
Great game. Like the previous comment, the controls feel a little weird. sometimes when i click on a tile, the character moves to it, other times 1 tile before or after. Also the enemies move a little too fast. There doesn't seem to be an end to this game too. But besides that, great game, art and sound effects. Would be nice if you could add some form of level.
This is a great game, maybe a bit too hard because I was quickly overwhelmed by the number of enemies. Love the sounds and graphics!
The art is nice and the chess-like idea is a good one.I think it is a bit down on the gameplay side because it was really hard to keep up with the enemies.
I can't get this to run on macOS Catalina (10.15), it immediately returns a "This application can not be opened" message and fiddling with the binary permissions / using nwjs directly did not work either :(
Wow that's super cool. It's like a real-time game of chess. My only complaint is that it's too difficult. Maybe reducing the speed of enemies, or the spawn rate would help make them game easier in the beginning.
@tkers We uploaded an HTML5 version to the itch.io page, try running it directly from there. Would love if you could reach us back with some feedback about it running on Mac!
@fornaree The HTML5 version is running perfectly, thanks for the upload!
Loving the art style and sound effects, this game looks and feels like a neat and complete package. The units are balanced in a certain way, but I felt that the game was a bit too fast-paced to really get into the more strategic component. Great job for your first LD, congrats!
That was you first jam? Man this game is awesome (maybe my favourite?)!
My only complain is that the game is too fast. Like, really fast. I can see this as turn based or with a pause option.
Everything else is marvellous: music, art, the application of the theme, the twist of be chess but real time... perfection!
I love everything about this. I hope you continue to work on this one, i love chess but this is something else hahaha
The audio/visual quality is very good. I really love pixel art when done well. But what stands out the most with this game is the creative use of the "Chess" environment. This game mechanic is definitely thinking outside the box, and I will most likely come back and try this game again after a few days. Good job!
I like the chess like game. This is fun. It is a bit fast tho. I recommend you to slow it down. Other than that, awesome atmosphere and amazing art!
I think the game would be a lot better as turn based with no time pressure.
Very good, graphics and art are really good. Maybe it's too fast, I'd like to think more about my tactics and my actions, maybe you could add an option to slow-down time ? Overall it's a good entry for this jam!
I love this! Use QWE keys for quick play!
Good chess-like idea for this jam. I think you have an solid base to built upon !
The idea is great. But enemies move too fast and eventually I don't have enough time for taking a decision.
cool!!
Very Nice game. During game-play I was using the knight at all time since it was the easiest way to beat the enemy, however at some point my knight stayed gray (Cool-down animation) and could never used it again. Besides that it was a really fun action chess game. Great job!
what a cool game! A little difficult to command everyone with mastery, but there is nothing better than training. It is not? I loved the ambience. Your musician is to be congratulated and I liked the little game over melody with that Arab instrument. I really liked the color palette and the simple and concise art. Clean and accurate gameplay.
Congratulations for the game!
Very neat pixel art and sfx, the two come elments come together to make for quite a polished game! I had fun playing it, but for some reason the players wouldnt go backwards. Not sure if it was a glitch, or me messing up the controls. Good work though!
@euler-moises The music wasn't made by ourselves, but by Antti Martikainen, you should definitely check him out, it's super worthwhile.
@alex-adedge Currently we got some issues with units moving backwards, I'll try to bug fix them today, as they mess up the nice movement feel that we initially had
@spirits Seems that you have found another bug! It seems that units very rarely go on cooldown and don't comeback. Thanks a lot for reporting, I'll look into it!
@julienlussiez @bilalch213 @tkers had some good insight about slowing the pace of the game, I already tuned down the difficulty since the first release, but it seems that slowing down some more, or some bullet-time would be nice! Thanks everybody <3
I liked the mood and style of this, and the concept was really easy to understand. I was overwhelmed quickly myself but otherwise it felt like a great idea to build on and balance.
Ha, that was surprisingly stressful. Chess, but EVERYTHING IS MOVING. It was definitely an interesting mechanic, though the movements didn't seem to particularly like me and by the time I managed to actually get my little warriors to move where I wanted the enemies had already passed. Definitely approve of your bullet-time idea for an addition. You could always ramp up the difficulty depending on how long people manage to stay alive. But overall an interesting idea, well done!
Really cool game! I agree with the comments about getting overwhelmed and having difficulties to control all your units, I wonder if this would be better if it was turn-based. Also I always used the Rook in my attacks I didn't feel like I needed the other units, this could have been improved with some punishment for overusing a certain unit. Overall Great game! Music and Art were clean and beautiful.
Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on my livestream!

I really enjoyed the chess-like movement mechanics. It didn't require too much of a chess knowledge, but still added some fun restrictions to the game that made it challenging. Switching between the characters would force your brain to have to rapidly switch between the different movement modes which was challenging but rewarding.
