LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Mini Menaces by block97 2024-10-08T03:04:40Z

Super cute concept, these really are TINY creatures! I like that there is invincibility after hitting an enemy, but I feel that the invincibility is far too long, so you can run through multiple enemies and only lose 1 life. I also really like all the different types of enemies and powerups, but I quickly lost track of what all the different things do, so maybe some initial explanation would be helpful. Great job finishing this in half the time as well!

Space Critter Rescue Mission by pvg 2024-10-07T01:41:05Z

Nice googley eyes and shooter game Dr G!

Cheeese Watch by Yorsh 2024-10-07T02:19:29Z

I really enjoy how simple the mechanics are, but how complex everything else is! The art/sound is amazing, and all the extra little things (particles/screen shake/etc) really add up to a great game!

Beachfront by DecadeDecaf 2024-10-07T02:16:15Z

The sounds and graphics are adorable!

Squirrel Mail by Boudichon 2024-10-08T03:12:07Z

"Only 10 levels"? Thats so many, give yourself more credit for one weekend! I'm glad to finally find someone else who went with squirrels as their main tiny animal haha. Super enjoyed this puzzle game, and I found myself actually getting stuck and having to think about some of these, which is not common on game jam puzzle games usually. Great use of the tiny animals theme, but just a note it did feel like placing the tiny squirrels was a bit tedious because of how many (30+ every level) and how they they are. I also think resetting should have been introduced first, in case of a soft lock on the level before its introduced.

Drawer Sheep by RoyRosta 2024-10-08T03:40:02Z

I love a good sheep game! This feels like a super polished and well-rounded short puzzle game, not something made in a weekend. I think clarity would help greatly with making things feel less trial-and-error and more like a puzzle of sitting there and thinking about what to do. More arrows, really on everything (blocks, sheep, paint, ground, everywhere) would be great, and also help with colorblindness accessibility. I'm also not sure if this was a bug, but every time I wanted my sheep to start moving, I would have to flick the "start" switch many times, and it seemed quite random on when they would start moving. This was quite frustrating particularly with how trial-and-error many of the puzzles were.

Creature Crusher by BlackCat508 2024-10-08T03:17:10Z

I actually really enjoy the animations, they're super clean for how short of a timeframe its made! My main feedback would just be accessibility, just because games that rely on seeing specific colors and tiny shapes can be difficult to differentiate. I found the shapes looked all too similar, which may have been the point, but I think giving them something more differentiating would have helped.

Beetle Battle by unkilledshadow135_Alex 2024-10-08T03:22:21Z

The graphics and animations are amazing and super clean, I just unfortunately couldn't get the controls to work on the itch site. If there is a patch for that I'd love to re-rate the game!

Destroy these tiny creatures, they are nasty and swarming by HangoverGames 2024-10-07T02:26:45Z

Really creative take on the theme, I like the message that anything can be a "tiny" creature. Only recommendation I may add is some way to lose the game.

Squirrel Family by CamComDuck 2024-10-08T17:31:51Z

@dingbat @plasmapuffs @xsil Sorry the game was a bit too difficult - the owl and rabbit are supposed to be challenging and "scary", but I may have leaned too hard into the annoying rather the scary. Thanks for playing and leaving feedback, and I hope you enjoyed it!

Squirrel Family by CamComDuck 2024-10-08T17:34:14Z

@thebooksnail thanks for finding me on here too and leaving super nice feedback! I really wish I thought of the idea for a sound effect for when the owl starts hunting, that would have been really helpful. and yeah that darn spawn logic still has the bug for not spawning all the required items...

I remembered for colliders you were either supposed to make them much bigger or much smaller than you think to help with player. unfortunately I remembered wrong and made them too big, so thanks for the reminder on that as well!

Squirrel Family by CamComDuck 2024-10-09T23:28:35Z

@nimbushead I tried for too long to bug fix that, but seemingly I didn't think about just separating the buttons... that would have been so much easier, thanks for the idea for next time!

Squirrel Family by CamComDuck 2024-10-09T23:29:39Z

@loig I thought I fixed the rabbit rotating bug, thanks for bringing that to my attention that it isn't fixed quite yet. I'm sorry you encountered that one! I still have no idea what causes it :(

Squirrel Family by CamComDuck 2024-10-09T23:31:26Z

@sviborg @pvg @nazariglez @daniel-finch @ecaterina thanks for playing and leaving feedback, I hope you enjoyed playing as much as I did making it! the owl will not be hunted down, it is immortal :)

Candyland by GonnaFlyMethod 2024-10-08T03:42:11Z

Unfortunately the game and camera controls don't work on my browser, but the graphics look adorable and I enjoyed watching the shooting from the small portion I could see! If there is a patch then I'd love to re-rate.

Rhythm of the Tinymon-Catcher by DropMania 2024-10-08T02:59:24Z

I love a good rhythm game, and super impressive you got this done in a weekend! Other people may have suggested already, but my first thought would be to make the white boxes some kind of tiny creature to better fit the theme. I also feel like the initial level should be far easier (like you can't possibly lose) and the levels increase slowly in difficulty as you go, so you can still have a challenging game but hook people into the difficulty more as they go. I found it starting too hard for me to complete unfortunately.

Thief by the-dtg 2024-10-08T03:30:09Z

I love the cute graphics, and there's so many different options and possible endings! (or should I say, ways to die...) Great job on your first LD game!

LD57 — Depths

Revenge of the Slimomancer by Josh Riley 2025-04-07T04:40:47Z

super cute RTS! I got the same bug in the previous comment as well. I love the art and sound effects. Just a small suggestion to make it more obvious my slimes are damaging the enemies, maybe by giving the enemies a visible healthbar?

Deep Bat Rage by shadow64 2025-04-08T02:57:54Z

I also had a leaking roof during this jam so I feel you on that. The graphics, music, and sounds are all great! Don't beat yourself up too much on the gameplay part, this is a great starting prototype you could revisit to improve the enemies/use the health :) I also like the "you really hate bats for some reason" story, so could even further expand on that in the game too somehow.

BeltCo Mining Inc. by smilewood 2025-04-09T04:30:52Z

I think this game could have really benefited from some kind of playtesting before submitting, I unfortunately found the controls too difficult to manage and I was going days with exploring, running out of power, and not having seen a single asteroid. Just a few small balancing things that could definitely be fixed if you had a bit more time, overall fantastic job for a compo game :)

Heaven Denied by Dingbat 2025-04-07T03:46:14Z

this is a unique take on the depths theme! I enjoyed playing through the morality of the choices. I found it a bit difficult to click the exact right spot for the heaven/hell buttons though, and I had 2 X's on top that I'm not sure what they meant.

Clock In by leparlon 2025-04-08T04:11:36Z

this feels like a work of art more than a game (this is meant as a compliment). the seeming lack of choice is a really interesting mechanic I'd never thought of before really. I think the graphics played into it super well too. I found myself wishing for any explanation on what I was doing, why I was doing it, the differences in the buttons, and found that no explanation actually played into the theme better, so I can appreciate it more (even if that was unintentional). I think you could have leaned even more into the monotonous atmosphere, maybe adding the train ride back home too, having to click to turn off the alarm every morning, just more small "meaningless" and repetitive tasks.

Roots by gemcc 2025-04-07T03:54:17Z

I really enjoyed your art and sounds, they're very engaging! I'm surprised we have a very similar game loop, but your take on cards for upgrades is much prettier. I had a very difficult time controlling the root with my cursor, it always felt too slow to move anywhere or too fast to get to where I wanted to go. Also just a note, once I reached the lava, the screen went fully white and crashed (I was playing your itch html version).

Anteater 2 by Fernando Tonon de Rossi 2025-04-07T04:10:29Z

I love the anteater idea! I agree with the previous comments too, this would make a super interesting larger-scale management kinda game. Just a note, I ran into a soft lock where the ants all only wanted to go down 1 horizontal line at the top of the colony, and they would just continuously go down only that line infinitely, no matter how much I ate them. I think it would be cool to add some sort of specific resources the ants are digging/bringing back and then something you can do with that resource (maybe buy more ants?).

Wormin' Down by Cobear25 2025-04-07T04:17:22Z

I love the graphics and sounds/music, they really complement each other and the theme well! This feels like a great game to give a child learning addition, would make it much easier and fun to learn. My only recommendation may be to play with the viewport size, maybe a smaller or larger perspective could make for interesting game modes.

Revenge of the Ocean by tiar 2025-04-09T04:23:43Z

I love the cute octopus! nice work for such a short amount of time!

Abysm by APG 2025-04-07T04:32:08Z

I felt really cool when I got 2 tentacles with 1 teleport. Cute game, I love the art and the background environment!

Living Lift by Scrawach 2025-04-08T02:44:02Z

Definitely my favorite part is the bouncing slime! Great, simple game, with excellent execution!

Sticky's Aquarium by Salaro 2025-04-08T03:47:02Z

super cute, well designed game and beautiful graphics! this feels like a great "depths" fishing minigame! I think it would benefit to add some more explanation on how to play, either before the game starts or somewhere on this page/the itch page, including controls. I'm also not totally sure how to earn money, it seems like my frogs were running away and gave me coins? I will replay it if there are some more instructions provided, but it was fun to throw the fishing pole and do the circle fishing minigame!

The Last Fall by MizAless 2025-04-07T04:27:48Z

Super beautiful art and game! It was a bit of an optical illusion trying to follow my character's position with so much moving around them. The ending was quite funny, definitely surprised me! I have just a small suggestion of adding a life counter in the game, since it seemed I went back to the last checkpoint after hitting something 3 times, but there wasn't a clear indication of this.

Dungeon Chef by Clare_Chan1738 2025-04-09T18:04:50Z

the ability to skip dialogue is a small but excellent touch! I really like the art and music, it really complements the game design well. My feedback is the design of constantly having to check the recipe book is a little repetitive, maybe some way to "learn"/unlock recipes over time would help, so it gives the player time to memorize recipes over time instead of everything all at once to try and learn.

Depths of Discovery by CamComDuck 2025-04-07T01:40:34Z

@literato-games thanks for playing! if the submarine doesn't work, make sure to click inside the game window before using the keyboard. if this doesn't fix it please let me know!

Depths of Discovery by CamComDuck 2025-04-08T21:37:21Z

@fullbuff thanks! I'm curious, do you have any specific suggestions/ideas for polish to add?

A robot with funny physics goes down for a diamond by ToKto 2025-04-09T17:58:32Z

the sound effects and music are super great in this! congrats on finishing your first LD and game, thats a big accomplishment! just a small thing to note for your future games, learning how to adjust the screen resolution/scale/aspect ratio is a small but super helpful thing, I found it hard to read the text at the beginning because it's quite small on my screen.

From The Depths: Mining Meets Tower Defense by cdupe 2025-04-08T03:56:19Z

super impressive game, I can't believe you made this in a weekend! the genre combination is very interesting, I'd love to see this explored in a larger scale game in the future if you revisit this project. Just a few suggestions: some indication of where the enemies are spawning/where they are going, I got stuck in my hole in cat form and wasn't able to defend anymore, and moving turrets (the first turret I placed was completely wasted because it wasn't anywhere near where the enemies were coming/going). great work on this game overall, probably my favorite I've played this jam so far!

Deep Blue Descent by pabloa31 2025-04-08T02:35:04Z

We had a very similar submarine idea  its super interesting seeing a 3D perspective on it! I enjoyed the little fishes that follow you on the top level, I wish they could follow me down, or maybe have different fishes for each depth? My suggestion would be adding some type of map or way to tell the player where they have been, because I found myself constantly getting lost and reexploring the same areas.

931 by Kukatoo 2025-04-07T04:02:29Z

Your general theme and mood are excellent! I really like the simplistic "stay in room and fix everything" design (and btw the room is very well designed). I just found it a bit repetitive to read the laptop to see the problem, go hover over everything to figure out what to fix, repeat. The lighting and screen shake were great touches too!

You Know the Drill! by ludokai 2025-04-08T02:53:26Z

great execution on a simple concept! I especially like the shop UI, I spent a lot of time on mine and yours looks so much better haha. especially the bouncing text!

My suggestion is I felt the prices were a bit too high, and the mining speed a bit too slow. The overall vibe is excellent though, I could see myself relaxing playing this game.

LD58 — Collector

Genius Gallery by Silas Reinagel 2025-10-08T02:57:21Z

What an incredible game for a weekend game jam, your entire team should be so proud of their work! The modeling and music are professional quality, this is what I would expect a Steam game that I paid real money to look and feel like. For a couple small gameplay notes for the future, I think it would be very helpful to move objects after they are placed (even within the same exhibit, I understand if you don't want people rearranging everything for balance). I found myself sometimes accidently double click the furniture card which would select the furniture and immediately place it down under, and without movement after this was a bit frustrating. Also the ability to view your current museum and go back to the card selection screen to plan better would be nice. Just a bit of feedback to polish this already incredibly polished game! :)

Dragon Hoard by pres2300 2025-10-06T01:56:55Z

Cute game, I love the drawn dragon! Just a small bug I found in fullscreen mode, it seems the window doesn't fully scale with my monitor, so I can see extra playspace at the bottom, and I can push the yellow circles into it but my dragon can't go in it to collect them back image.png

Word Collector by thesnide 2025-10-06T03:02:51Z

Great idea, and super impressive for 2 hours! Just some small notes: I think I was still able to type words even when they were off screen on the left, and clearing my currently typed letters when I move to the next level would be nice because I always had to waste the first second or two backspacing my currently typed letters.

Sugar Crash Clair by epb9000 2025-10-06T02:20:41Z

I love the graphics and sound! I found a small bug where I could infinitely fly by quickly alternating spacebar/right key, just to let you know. I like the idea of collecting speed!

Circus Puppet Theater by Diralf 2025-10-07T16:27:31Z

Very cute graphics, and I love all the details on the animations! I would recommend adding some kind of UI to show what colors you have already collected, as I found myself running back and forth trying to remember the colors.

Garbage Day! by aero 2025-10-09T01:59:08Z

Cute game! The collisions seem to work perfectly, great job on that! (I always struggle so much with collisions). And the animations are all super precise and helpful to the gameplay!

The Tithe of Souls by massivejack 2025-10-07T02:12:33Z

I love Oxygen Not Included, and definitely can see the inspiration on the pipe mechanics! This game is impressively complex to make in just a weekend, very well done and congrats to the team!

Apple Basket by Zliebowitz 2025-10-06T02:51:42Z

Cute little game, and congrats on your first compo! Just a small note, I saw a sprint UI bar, but couldn't find the keybind for using sprint (or maybe it isn't implemented, I'm not sure). Your 8bit design is well done and easy to follow, great work this weekend!

Loaded Dice by Phoenix Fireflower 2025-10-07T23:44:41Z

Super impressive compo game! I especially love the music and sound effects and how well they complement the game style/mechanics. The tutorial was incredibly helpful and well done too.

Petals by AppoxGames 2025-10-06T02:33:15Z

The graphics are beautiful and the sound effects and music really complement the game well! I'm curious how it picks the pattern to place petals in, it seemed to always give me exactly what I needed haha. I enjoy playing it in the relaxing zen mode. I tried in the normal mode, but quickly lost and didn't see an easy restart button in the game (I just refreshed the tab and it was fine).

Fractal Collector by Tesseract 2025-10-06T01:50:05Z

I love a good math and puzzle game! I'm curious about how did you make the fractals graphics? I found the levels' difficulty ranging wildly from level to level, some levels I could solve in seconds and others I couldn't solve at all without hints. Maybe getting a playtester to try it out first or try ordering the levels from easy to hard would help especially for newer players!

Pollen Pusher by Quail Weaver 2025-10-06T02:46:44Z

I found the movement a bit confusing, but really appreciate the compass UI to help fix that. The art is super cute and sounds complement the bee well. I think its a bit too easy to get soft locked on a level, and feels frustrating when its the last pollen at the very end, but I understand this is my fault too haha. I think also introducing the R for reset earlier would be nice, as I was refreshing the page each time before learning the keybind. Overall, the game flow of slowly introducing mechanics is extremely well done and makes it easy to learn while playing, which is the best kind of tutorial! Especially for this style of puzzle game.

Coin Games by Jim jagers 2025-10-08T00:09:50Z

The ghost is absolutely adorable! The genre mix of arcade and roguelike is really interesting, I haven't thought about it much before but you played with it really well here. I think working on the UI graphics a bit more to make them easier to read/understand/see at first glance would be a great small addition to this cute weekend game!

Can you give me a hand gesture? by She Wrote 2025-10-06T01:53:02Z

I love the graphics and sound effects! I think adding some way to view the hand gestures already discovered would be very helpful. I found myself just constantly toggling each finger and clicking the check button, without much memory on what I'd already tried.

Predincament by Threeli 2025-10-06T03:07:47Z

Great art and environment! I love a cute and educational story piece. Next time, if you wanted to have more mechanics, I recommend working on all mechanics before starting the art, as the art will take up as much time as you allow it. This time around, the art really makes the game work though! As some small feedback, it wasn't clear to me within the game what the smile does, and I realized it only worked if a dialogue was closed. Some kind of visual feedback/note in game about this would clear that up easily though :)

In-A-Bottle by xsangyhix 2025-10-07T23:49:51Z

Cute game for a weekend jam! The lore is very interesting, I think it would be cool to be included/incorporated into the game more. Maybe finding lore pieces within the ships as you explore them?

Table Lord by noagard 2025-10-08T00:04:23Z

Great concept that you could build off easily if you wanted to! I was able to win on my first try. I liked the mechanics of upgrading and the random negative events to change the game a bit from the otherwise repetitive turn to turn. I don't think I found the use for bread, and I also think it would be nice if the opponent castles tried to fight back somehow, maybe by retaking land over time?

Fluff 'n Roll by CamComDuck 2025-10-07T20:08:39Z

@quail-weaver @mdotedot @epb9000 I have added a camera sensitivity control now if you would like to try again! If the minimum setting is still too high please let me know, I can reexport with a lower minimum. And thanks so much for playing and leaving feedback!

Fluff 'n Roll by CamComDuck 2025-10-07T20:10:16Z

@discomorphine thanks for playing and leaving feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I know about the sound loop bug (but cant seem to find the solution yet), is there any other bugs you noticed that can be fixed?

Swarm Surge by Rinevard 2025-10-06T02:16:25Z

I love the concept, art, and sounds! The concept of collecting soldiers is very unique and I found the gameplay fun, especially with the cute graphics! I found it a bit hard to tell who was on my team and not just based on the circle colors. I think it would also be nice to have the neutral people walk towards you or show on the map because I found I was leaving them around the map without knowing where they were.

body, birds, drop by tercs 2025-10-07T23:54:36Z

I appreciate the content warning, but maybe being a bit more specific would be helpful on it as well (I think about how movies on Netflix have that popup in the top left before the movie giving the warning categories like gore). I also found the camera to move way too fast for me to watch, I think a camera speed control would be very helpful. I like the graphics and music!

Collect It by Stef_Studio_7 2025-10-08T00:29:55Z

Cute idea, and I like the simple graphical style you went for! I think a smaller board and less game time may actually work in your favor for this game style, I felt it a bit too difficult to go up in levels with such a large board.

Paper Airplanes Collection by GeorgeBurg 2025-10-07T01:41:23Z

Very cute and simple game! I like the educational part especially. I may recommend picking a different font, especially for the book UI, as I found this one a bit hard to read.

Sewernir by plastus 2025-10-06T02:08:06Z

I love your art and sound effects! I think the mechanics were well designed and taught to the player, but I found it a bit repetitive just making triangles a whole lot. Maybe some way to differentiate the levels with the expected rope patterns would help with this? I also found a small bug where the purple circles sometimes got stuck into a corner and wouldn't move out, so I couldn't capture them. image1.png
