LD57 — Depths

Skellevator by Kahztein 2025-04-09T03:04:20Z

Interesting! I really like the combat mechanics, I struggle a little in the beggining with so many enemies but as soon I mastered throwing the sword (which is pretty enjoyable) I was able to make progress. The animations are pretty cool too, nice work!

Directive: Downwards by ThePelranthean 2025-04-09T03:36:37Z

I like the graphics and the grappling mechanic, I had a little fun with it. The concept is interesting and I would like to have more levels to play. It should be a fun game if you continue to develop, nice work!

Neon Crawl by ping78 2025-04-11T22:13:16Z

This is a fun experience! I love the colors and the transitions between levels, and I like how you made the Unity Webplayer fit well on itch.io UI!

I found it a bit hard to control the player in the beginning, especially using the mouse to look at the enemies. I tried a few tactics, but it might feel more intuitive if the character looked in the direction they're moving (something I also missed in my entry but I understand better now ๐Ÿ˜…).

Overall, I really like the replay value, and it's a well-polished game. Nice work!

Sound the Innersea by tukisboolukis 2025-04-11T21:52:30Z

I like the art and the overall atmosphere, especially with the shadows in the background and the fog that creates a feeling there's something hidden behind, like monsters, love it! The sound also helps a lot to create this mood, and I liked the SFX's too.

About the gameplay, I struggled a bit at first to get used to using space + RMB, but once I understood it, I was able to make progress and it became quite easy. I also liked the effect when your energy runs out, it gives off a strange, eerie sensation. At the start, it was fun to kill enemies, but after a while, I realized I could just go downward and avoid them entirely, as they didn't seem able to damage the ship from behind.

Overall, it looks great and creates a strong, immersive atmosphere. Nice work!

The Greater Depths by bacontree 2025-04-11T00:12:22Z

I liked the concept and atmosphere! The character design and the narrated story are nice too, it reminded me a little bit of Dear Esther. The sound design and ambiance works well, especially when encountering a ghost.

I had to restart the game twice because I fell off the boat and couldn't get back on, but once I stopped messing around, I was able to make progress. I felt the intro was a bit slow, and the other character moves slower than the main player. The ghosts are too fast also, which frustrated me a little bit.

The focus mechanic and its visual effects are pretty awesome, really enjoyed that. Overall, it's a good concept and an interesting story, I like it! Good work.

Captain Death by Sarah 2025-04-10T23:18:54Z

I liked it! I struggled like the others at the beginning, but once I figured out the controls, the game became fun. I also think the initial line length could be a bit longer, or maybe having more fish near the water surface, that would help players get a better feel for the controls.

I really liked the art, and I loved the little secrets like the fog and the hidden star (I got it!). It was cool to find out.

When I had multiple segments, I sometimes felt like I didn't want to set the directions for all of them, but it was manageable by just clicking any random spot for the others.

Overall, it's a fun game with cute details and chill background music. Good work!

Fear of Sea by UnidayStudio 2025-04-09T03:53:31Z

โ€‹Impressive that you used your own engine, and within 72 hours! I like the light changes when going deep, and the water effect is cool. The controls could be smoother, using the mouse to see where I'm going, but it's quick to get into it. Nice work!

Hollowspire by simex 2025-04-10T22:42:26Z

The art style is pretty cool, I love how it works well with the interactions and how progressively the new styles show up. The craft system is an interesting idea, and how it enables upgrades depending on depth. I just felt the miners who already have a craft item could leave them for the others, and I was wondering if those items would count for everyone or just for those who pick them up. In the end, I opted not to craft things because I like the power-click mechanic ๐Ÿ˜…. Nice work!

Sea Devil by Tom3y 2025-04-09T03:16:08Z

Very cute, I love it! The storytelling through light spots and the concept of ascending from the depths instead of going deeper is really interesting. The art is amazing. Nice work!

Sound Of Ignorance by xorfe 2025-04-11T23:08:30Z

I love the art style and soundtrack, unlocking a new part of the music was awesome. Combined with the particles, visual effects, and animations, everything looks great and creates a cool, immersive atmosphere.

At first, I was a bit confused because I didn't notice that the path extended behind me, but thanks to the text hints I got it and made progress. I also liked the effect when you start bending the environment and the music fades out, and this is a cool mechanic for discovering items.

I'm not sure if I reached the end or missed something, but I couldn't quite follow the last instruction when the music box changed.

Overall, I enjoyed my time playing and love the art and sound design. Nice work!

Focal Depth by parkuhrmd 2025-04-10T21:58:57Z

Awesome entry, love it! The atmosphere and how the sound creates a strange feeling & helps you find the next step is a great detail. I found myself taking a moment between oxygen connections just to take pictures and appreciate.

The depth of field can be a bit tricky to manage, and it's not always clear why the focus isn't in the right spot, but the mechanic itself is awesome. The menu with the collected species is also a great touch, I love the art in it.

Overall, it felt like this could be a full game, and it's well-polished. Great work!

Blackout Protocol by eggsscrambled 2025-04-09T00:22:14Z

The atmosphere and the background voice are really cool, and I was fearing the creature all the time. Nice work!!

Trench Diver by Hatherton 2025-04-09T02:45:43Z

I like the game's idea and atmosphere, the controls are intuitive, and the art style is cool. I did feel the enemies were a bit too fast for the beginning of the game, I tried using the bullet but gave up after a few attempts and just started to run. The upgrade system is a good idea too! Overall, I found it interesting, nice work!

Belials Bellybutton by Kujoen 2025-04-09T01:25:44Z

Love the atmosphere! The treasure indicator and the light changes in different depth areas are very nice. It's always good when you have a tutorial that explains how to play playing. Amazing job!

Hooky Fish by DurkaGames 2025-04-11T23:55:52Z

I had a really good time playing, it felt relaxing and motivating at the same time. I love the art style of the fishes and the animations, the game loop feels nicely balanced with the upgrades. At times, I struggled a bit between spawn rounds, but I noticed it helped me to grab some upgrades and find the last fish easily. In general, nice work!

Dancing in the Depths by nrankin13 2025-04-10T21:27:37Z

This is pretty funny, I felt like a Hollywood paparazzi bothering my Dogman friend. The 3D sound is an awesome feature to give a sense of direction, it's a funny experience. Nice work!

Anglerfisch by Arluci 2025-04-12T00:24:47Z

I really like the atmosphere and visuals, super impressive! I managed to collect all 20 fish, but would be good a tutorial or explanation at the beginning to help with the controls. The dash mechanic is pretty helpful, and collecting the fish was a fun and relaxing experience, except when sharks were nearby. The hidden spots were also a nice touch and even saved me a couple of times.

In the shell hiding spot, when I tried to exit, the character slipped under the terrain for some reason, but when I went back in and tried again, it worked fine.

Overall, it was a good experience with beautiful visuals. Nice work!

Mariana's Secret by Tirtstan 2025-04-09T01:42:49Z

The map is interesting and keeps me wanting to explore the areas. Also, the lighting effects on deep areas and the bubble powers are good elements. Good work!

Dead Reckoning | LD57 by Radjax 2025-04-09T00:52:46Z

Amazing effect on sonar pings! I liked the music and the atmosphere, especially in the dark areas with enemies nearby. One minor point: I felt rushed because the rescue time continued to count during dialogues, but it didn't impact the experience. Overall, a nice execution of the theme. Well done!

Depths of Discovery by CamComDuck 2025-04-09T00:35:34Z

Really good to see another perspective on the submarine idea ๐Ÿ˜… I liked a lot the upgrade system/options and how progressively you can improve it with the new fishes discovered. Also, the map indicator of depth and the line with the previous best score are good elements for understanding the current location on the map. Nice work!

RepliCore by Nick Halstead 2025-04-09T02:31:32Z

I like how the game progressively introduces new mechanics. The puzzles are very interesting & combine well with the clones, and the character's animation when another clone lands on their head was a cool detail haha. Nice work!

CONFESSION by pavlov36 2025-04-09T00:43:37Z

Interesting story and visual concept. I like the puzzles, especially the compass one, and the story and exploration of the theme got me. Amazing job!

Sub-Aquatic Explorer by Steen3d 2025-04-09T01:15:44Z

I enjoy the turn movement and how the fish moved along, the light transition between depth levels is cool also! I miss more interaction and exploration of the scenario. Overall I felt it was a good idea and a good first entry for a Jam, nice work!

Deep Blue Descent by pabloa31 2025-04-09T02:53:54Z

Thank you all for the feedback, It will be really helpful! We had more ideas that we couldn't implement due to time constraints, I'm considering working on a new version with those improvements to see how it turns out. I really enjoyed the process of making it and the exploration side of it. For the JAM version, we had some hidden spots with secret fishes, but we felt it would be good to have more elements like secret creatures, treasures, or more hidden places.

Ad Light by jtap 2025-04-08T01:47:49Z

That's cool for a first game project. Well done!

The Descent by eke223 2025-04-09T02:11:23Z

I wasn't ready for the shop animation ๐Ÿ˜‚ I liked the mechanics and the upgrade system, and it's pretty satisfactory to see the rope pushing you back. Maybe an upgrade that allows for faster returns to the surface would be nice, especially in deeper areas. Overall, it was a fun experience, nice work!
