To do this in 3 days is really an indicator of skills. This game is one of the best I've seen.

Nice use of the theme! The weightiness of the controls contributes to the tense vibe you're going for. At the same time, I found it difficult to meaningfully strategize since the sharks move so much faster than the submarine, and they're very difficult to see. The audio balance jump-scared me a bit as well, which might have been intentional, but it might be good to even it out to build tension as well.
Oh, and something that I almost completely forgot to add in this page (and at this point I'm too scared of the deadline to hit edit and mess something up by accident) is that the game was entirely made using Cave Engine:

If you don't know the engine, it's an easy to use, fully tested, feature complete, 3D game engine written in C++ and scriptable in Python. Feel free to check it out here:
It was very good to create this project using it.
very nice use of theme and very pretty graphics... i also love the controlls
The game looks very fun, but the controls aren't adapted for ZQSD keyboards so it was a pain to pilot the submarine ^^' Definitely impressive for 3 days tho
this is incredible, i might actually try cave engine
Wow, full good looking 3d pipeline in 72 hours , this is huuge!
Whoa the game turned out to be pretty scary! Easily the best looking 3D game I've seen so far for the jam, and the fact that you used your own game engine? Mind blowing, huge congrats!
Love the look, love the vibe. Odd that the mouse movement just controls your view inside the sub, instead of moving the sub view. Made it a little difficult to move, since you had to coordinate WASD and mouse movement in order to see where you're going.
Really cool game, I think the compass led me astray though, I ended up back at the surface trying to find the next chest. Very impressive for three days, Controls were easy, but I think you should be able to tilt the nose of the submarine to follow the mouse so you can look down and gradually descend
This was an amazing accomplishment for 72 hours!
That was a really nice game, good intuitive controls! The only thing I couldn't find (maybe I'm blind) was some kind of health meter or indicator how many times I can get hit, even if it's an overlay with some red to tell me I'm in trouble. But it took me a minute to notice the treasure radar, and that was a really neat feature! Good luck with the jam :)
I managed to beat it. It's a nice classic 3D first person collecting items game. I really liked the dramatic sound effect when the shark kills you.
Here is my list of things that I think could be improved:
- The controls feel a bit heavy, I think that it's because the movement of the sub feels like it's done with impulses than forces: there is no acceleration and the sub stops immediatly when I release the button. - I think that the cockpit is too big to see where you are in tight areas. - The Shark/Ground/Depth indicators should be moved to the center of the screen, below the Oxygen bar, or made part of the sub's cockpit interface. Maybe it's because I'm playing on an ultrawide (21:9) screen, but I am distracted by looking at the corner of the screen to see if the shark is coming, or that I'm not hitting the ground. - Maybe add a screen tint or a sound indicator when the shark is approaching at top speed. I died countless times suddenly without knowing why (I assume it was the shark and I wasn't looking at the shark distance because I was focusing on the Oxygen level).
Good work!
Impressive that you used your own engine, and within 72 hours! I like the light changes when going deep, and the water effect is cool. The controls could be smoother, using the mouse to see where I'm going, but it's quick to get into it. Nice work!
amazing looking game, almost looks like a AAA game, and all made in 72h is crazy, especially making it in your own engine. super impressive, great submission!
Controls feel great and the game looks amazing! I thought the oxygen mechanic deincentivised the searching mechanic a little bit, maybe making it drain a little slower would make exploration a little more enjoyable. But using your own engine is really impressive, good work!
The game looks and sounds great. The gameplay is simple and pretty fun. Overall a well made jam game. Well done.
Pretty pretty cool! Great underwater experience. Mood is spot on!
I do have a few pieces of feedback though: the biggest one being the inability to see very well your surroundings / maybe additional camera switches like in racing games (e.g. seeing your car from the outside) would help this. I also felt it to be a bit puinshing, but that's okay. A way to light the way forward would also be awesome.
Overall, a cool starting point for a great experience : )))
