A great little arcade cabinet game! I enjoy the way that it forces you to split your attention between two tasks--I'm a decent tetris player and a decent maze-navigator, but when combined it turns out I suck at both.
I love the overall aesthetic choices and simple, yet clever concept--nicely done!
This was such a fun spin to Tetris. I love the maze idea along with it. It really fits the theme. I also think the art is very cute. I think the controls on the keyboard at times were a little awkward, but a fun play. Nice job on the game :)

The love-child of pacman and tetris. I love it! Some nice thought behind the palette choices and fine spritework!
This game is so clever! I loved that it's an actual NES game, that's so neat! Really loved the concept :)
It's really awesome you took two completely different genres and combined them to something completely new. I needed some time to get used to managing two tings at the same time. Love the NES aesthetics. Very original, great job.
Impressive as usual, legit NES game with intresting mechanics!
procedural generated maze?! music/sfx were spot on. i kept forgetting how to spin :ohno:

Saw someone streaming it and decided to give it a play! Absolutely fantastic game, incredibly impressive choice of engine and smooth gameplay making for one of my favorite picks so far. No critiques, Got a "error windows.localstorage getter forbidden in a sandboxed document without the "allow same origin" flag." after tabbing out, didn't impact gameplay.

I get too focused on the tetris aspect and keep dying. Oh well xD Someday I'll do better than 72

Honestly one of the best submissions I've played, and it being playable on nes makes it all the more impressive. Such a clever idea that I'm surprised I haven't seen it done before. The art is also really nice - good use of the nes palette.
What a fantastic feat! Making a nes game in 72 hours, really ? The game is beautiful and the controls are very intuitive, amazing work !
Reallz nice idea and execution! Love the art and music.

Great use of limited space, really amplifies the pressure from tetris by adding another part outside the tower building to have to focus on too!
Super fun game. I really enjoyed it and the level of polish was great too. Awesome work!
Really fun! I loved the split attention aspect of the game. Played on stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1942871170?t=0h18m16s
The most shameful tetris plays of my life. 10/10
great game. "New in the Old" is almost a theme of its own.
Nice entry! Loved the changing maps! And Tetris/mazes was a great idea! Too bad I'm horrible at both of those! XD
I am just too bad for this  but great combination of two basic ideas making it super hard and innovative.

I loved your take on the theme! Managing the two systems was so much fun and caused me to think about what I was doing, I found it wasn't exactly clear that the blocks hurt me but that might just be me, really nicely done!
@ethan-g but the blocks don't hurt you, you only lose by hunger (only if the board is filled and you can't place more blocks the hunger bar would fill faster to end the game sooner). Are you thinking it hurts because of the flicker? Because the flicker is there just to circumvent a hardware limitation - the NES can't show more than 8 8x8 sprites on a single scanline. So if I don't flicker, some of then would be actually invisible.
Thanks for letting me play this! Excellent job!
Here's the VOD on YouTube to watch the gameplay, just skip to your chapter on the video! https://youtu.be/-eCnQ8GAhN8
Really addictive game. Looks great, feels responsive, love that it flat out works as an NES game. The mashup of genres works surprisingly well. Fantastic job.

Really cool mixture of games that works pretty well but I do think the maze and the polyominoes needed to interrelate slightly more. But it's a lot of fun to play and I love the art + music.
The fact it should run on real hardware is so cool, great work :)
I really enjoyed this! Having to balance the two games was interesting, though it felt a bit turn based switching from one to another. I feel it'd be interesting if the tetrino pieces could have interacted with the minotaur while falling. I wonder too if the amount you move could have impacted how fast the hunger rises? really liked that you chose the minotaur theming, it suited great and I liked the character :)

Great expansion of the Tetris genre! Took a little while to get used to the controls to avoid accidentally messing things up, but when I did it became very satisfying and addictive. I love the extra puzzle element of trying to avoid blocking your maze path. And the graphics and audio are perfect for the NES style
I had a little trouble reading the controls page - I think the lack of real descenders and ascenders in the font and the clustering of inputs was a little confusing. One other thing I'd have liked to have seen is modern Tetris quality of life stuff like pressing up to skip a tetromino to the bottom, and then it would be nice for the down button to move the tetrominos down a little bit slower unless you hold it down (I accidentally pushed it down too far a few times - usually when switching between minotaur and tetrominos)
But other than those very minor gripes, a really, really enjoyable entry that I'd love to see developed further!
Managed to get 164 🎉
Score of 164
Wow, I liked everything about this game. The audio, the graphics and the gameplay mechanics. Really well done how tetris and survival combined together.

Of course Pomo had to go back and beat my high score. :stuck_out_tongue:
Such a well-realized idea, this is probably one of my favorites of yours! Great job.
Had a great time playing this on stream! The addition of bigger tetris pieces really messes with you, and having to plan ahead to make sure you will have a path through the maze is a great mechanic. Nice work!

HTML emulator doesn't seem to accept controller input :(. Tried it in Nestopia and got "Unsupported or malformed mapper" when loading :(. Similar error in Nester. Nesticle95 didn't run (why do I have so many old NES emulators installed?). Finally seemed to work in FCEUX =).
This was really brilliant! I loved having to balance building up for a big combo but blocking off my own space to move around, that felt really good. At first I thought that the falling blocks would hurt me, and this was exacerbated by the flickering of the block/character when overlapped, but I quickly realized that was likely just NES sprite flickering, not actual feedback. My best score: 297 (second attempt). (edit: oh, sweet, that's top of the leaderboard!)

I didn't expect to be so addicted to a game made in 3 days, what a good surprise. I loved the game, at first it seems simple and not very innovative, but when you play it shows what it really is. The soundtrack is very good, the game is challenging, changing between pieces and characters is difficult but it's a great mechanic, you feel like you're in a mix of Pacman and Tetris that makes you want to try more and more ways to survive. Great game, congratulations!!

Miroh2.png Miroh3.png great postjam changes! managed 293 on new version (in the same run i accidentally trapped myself too) xD i think it would be dope if the apple blinks a bit before it disappears, there was a couple times im just 4 centimeters away and it despawns right before i get it lmao
overall very fun game, and clever use of theme!
Lovely graphics, and addicting gameplay. I consider it damn impressive that a game this solid was made for the NES in just 72h.

I love this kind of game developed for an old gaming platform, it's an amazing challenge. Normally I'd play it with the emulator on my almighty nds, but it runs black screen on the nesds. I had to play it in the browser. Great game. The combination of mazes and tetris is very creative. For a nes game it's pretty good.
Nice. Another NES game.

I love games mixing genres, and this was just one of those jam pearls you keep playing later. Muito bom, parabéns!!
Interesting mix of tetris and maze. But I don't know if it works very well in the long term in gameplay. I don't think it's very fun, but technically it was very well done for a jam

oh! ping me on this because I have my mister now, I am busy atm finally rating all the games I played but I will have another go on my fpga later
@alexrose ping! I'm not sure if it *will* work on MiSTer but it probably should; I tried looking it up and apparently it does support the mapper I'm using (mapper 028)
