LD54 — Limited Space

IBrexout by radmars 2023-10-03T07:24:20Z

This game has such an amazing vibe!! There's some energy about the whole aesthetic, visuals, and music, I can't put my finger on but it's excellent!

Discovering how to actually defend god's wrath was fun, realizing that the game is really a reverse-breakout game. And the space running out in your world fits the theme pretty well!

There are some strange physics collisions and the movement for some reason did not feel very precise.

I got scared by the sudden ending screen, the goat head and loud noise was scary  !!

Overall, great job!

MIROH by Wendel Scardua 2023-10-04T15:01:25Z

Great use of limited space, really amplifies the pressure from tetris by adding another part outside the tower building to have to focus on too!

First Home by Mocadium 2023-10-03T06:54:35Z

Wow! Love the idea of a sliding puzzle combined with the vibes of unpacked. The vibes were so good, I felt bad whenever I had to box in and trap the cat or baby to just move the rest of the furniture around lol. Also love how the sliding itself was implemented here, in a turn based style where you can see where the furniture will slide to next. I think the puzzle game mechanics weren't too innovative and got a little bit stale which led to the story and vibe really carrying the game, but design wise I think that was a good move to a degree, having comfortable puzzles with clearer solutions. Overall great job! Congrats!

Terminal Noise by fusionnist 2023-10-04T01:26:45Z

I really enjoyed all the twists and turns with trying to discover what the mechanics actually were. as a rule discovery game and a sort of dungeon crawler it's great. I think I maybe softlocked myself on Level 18 by replacing the ladder with a yellow cross. (OH nevermind I forgot about the maroon orbs LOL I'm going to keep playing) But gosh I love it a lot, I loved how single puzzles would span multiple floors. Reminds me a lot of Void Stranger! Super amazing job

Soffie's Tiny Garden by FTZ 2023-10-04T00:26:32Z

So awesome. I love the level design, how it ties to limited space theme, as someone who plays lots of puzzle games it was interesting to realize how the mechanic exactly worked (like that flowers adjacent to roots will sprout regardless of the root direction, a little unintuitive but makes sense after a while). I think the puzzle designs became very elegant, especially the last two levels. I feel like the mechanic doesn't outstay its welcome through the game either. Overall, awesome job

Cubic by Afra Gerami 2023-10-03T04:07:10Z

I love this minimalist puzzle game! Reminds me of Jelly is Sticky! This was incredibly made, feels amazing all the way through, incredible audio. The one puzzle mechanic is something I've seen a lot of, but the difficulty progression and level designs were amazing. Overall, Great job!

The Heap by Profugo Barbatus 2023-10-04T02:07:07Z

Hi Score: 141 Trying to manage all the tasks coming in was pretty fun! Often when playing I'd end up dragging something to a spot but it not getting registered, but aside from that it was nice! I'm glad you were able to get a tutorial into the game in time too! Ah and i love the art! Congrats!!

Buttons by BuzzyBee 2023-10-04T16:16:26Z

I love that the player character has a green outline indicating when they can use the J ability again! I think it would be nice next to the W+A+J to put a directional arrow maybe, I got stuck for a good while figuring out why I couldn't make the second jump after that sign. I love the backtracking too to reach the final room! Great level design!! Overall great job!

Blocked by zimny11 2023-10-03T04:31:13Z

I love this game a lot! Especially since I relate, I also made my first puzzle game for this jam. Just going to ramble about stuff. - The factory style of puzzle reminds me of Zachtronics games like Infinifactory! - I think there's a lot of QOL to add like being able to speed up the playing phase and swap between phases more smoothly, but that's not so important for a jam game! - The game was pretty intuitive to me at least, I was able to understand what was going on without reading the instructions first lol. That being said making a clearer distinction for the player as to what phases it is may be useful, I did not even realize there was text in the top left telling me what phase I was in until I was done playing. - Many moments where I was just one space off or needed just one more piece created a really fun and intense sense of aporia, which is great for puzzles and revelations! - Some surprising level design was very fun, like seeing A1 for the first time. - To me the game mechanics did not feel very unique or innovative but the level design makes up for it!

Overall, Great job!!

Commission Hell by crow_seeds 2023-10-03T06:37:44Z

Overall very lovely game!! I love the idea of having to follow the restrictions of a commission and the canvas as the limiting parts to match the theme. And the feature to compare to other pieces of art is very satisfying too.

Firebounded by tucan 2023-10-04T07:02:15Z

I want to be really honest, limiting the movement space of the platforming character in order to match the theme, it was a bit unique but felt strictly less fun to play because of the ring of fire around the character, the changing size is a nice touch though. I think finding a way to balance this a little better (what if the player maybe had brief moments to break free of the fire?) might make the game loop more exciting! That being said, the art of the game is wonderful, and the music is a great fit for the vibe! I love the story and want to learn more about the world, the concept of a paper princess trapped by fire is so cool! Overall good job!

M8B1674-00D4 by a327ex 2023-10-04T06:32:49Z

The game is so satisfying! I love how the space is generated. The game fits the theme very well but unlike many where I feel like I always want to escape the limited space, it feels very good here! Very fun for a short playthrough!!

Sheep in Wolf's Clothing by ottos 2023-10-04T01:54:56Z

Really fun game, love it! I was expecting a game with more puzzles and maybe RPG is a better descriptor, but I loved it the whole way through regardless, dialogue and art and music and the whole vibe all are so amazing

This is fine by Vincent7 2023-10-03T03:44:24Z

This game is so sad in the best way, I love the story and art so much and I want to know more and see more of this world, the gameplay gets a bit stale but it's interesting to discover what choices cause what actions through a single playthrough, and the game feel is incredible. Thought it was a little unintuitive at first that there's 1 round for each character you control but it made sense in the end. Overall, Great job!

To Hell With You! by Sean Esopenko 2023-10-04T01:01:00Z

I love how the game is a little like a tower defense and speedrunning platformer game at the same time! Realizing what to actually do was confusing but ended up enjoyable!

GARBAGE SIMULATOR by Brandon McDonald 2023-10-04T01:07:43Z

This was really fun! I love how you switch views from the truck for driving and dragging trash. I couldn't figure out how to actually put trash in the vehicle or why I had to rotate objects but had fun regardless! The day night cycle was interesting too. The tutorial was very useful to have as part of the game! Overall great job!

invenStory by Roroto Sic 2023-10-04T15:17:12Z

Congrats on the game!! The lack of any tutorial or control guide, or explanation for what was what made it a bit hard to figure out what was going on, but I also liked trying to guess out what the game mechanics were! I found myself just picking up and dropping items to figure out what PV, ATC, or DEF changed. (Still not sure what PV stands for haha) The game looks pretty similar to Backpack hero although I haven't played that before, so I tried to guess from there what to do. The idea of the inventory space and moving items is very cool, but it seems like items can stack on top of each other, also was interested by the fact that I could rotate items, not sure why I can do that though. I love the black and white pixel art! Overall great job!

Limited Space (Button) by Tesla Dude 2023-10-04T15:36:34Z

Fun!! The 2d platforming has some jankiness like preserving momentum even after death, respawning in the ground sometimes, and textures in the foreground and background that look the exact same, nothing polish cant fix though! I love the story cutscenes and the artwork, and the lore of the space crystals! The unique twist of limiting jumps got interesting once I reached levels that actually required me to jump more than 3 times. One thing I really suggest you should do is add a cover image for your game here to make it stand out. Overall great job!

Tear the Path by foufoufou 2023-10-03T07:15:06Z

(游戏真的非常好!!! My Chinese is no good, sorry!!) I loved this game a lot. I kind of liked the hard difficulty, it fits with the story and themes! The visual, audio, and overall vibe of the game is great and unique, I love the player character. Games where you draw the 2d platforms will always have a little bit of janky feeling, but game overs always felt deserved when they happen, which is good! Overall congrats on the jam, great job!

VoidChamber by Volnick 2023-10-03T06:21:57Z

Love how the theme was integrated for this game, I think a small downside of the emergent game dynamics is I found myself holding down Q pretty much the entire game, and the quick movement led to me always being at the edge of the limited space which led to some janky 2d physics. The art and music are amazing! Overall nice job!

Slideworld by XRy 2023-10-03T20:19:38Z

@walaber I totally agree it should somehow be more clear what can be interacted with, tried to add a little of that with the black selection corners but I agree players probably need more feedback, thank you for the feedback!

Slideworld by XRy 2023-10-03T20:20:57Z

@mr-bluecap Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback! There was so much I wanted to do and couldn't finish, I think I needed to spend better time planning my planning because I spent a whole day just thinking of ideas haha

Slideworld by XRy 2023-10-03T20:25:17Z

@chasells Thanks! Yeah I wish I had more time to design levels around that mechanic, I also feel bad realizing I used one puzzle to introduce two mechanics at once: both moving multiple ducks as well as moving separate sliding blocks of the same color at the same time. Definitely want to fix that in another version. Thanks for the feedback though!!

Slideworld by XRy 2023-10-03T20:26:11Z

@afra-gerami thank you for the feedback!! :hearts: I'm glad i added a skip button, although really should have thought of a reset button too for convenience, haha

Slideworld by XRy 2023-10-03T23:02:48Z

@phaix yes, that is an intended mechanic (which you need to use for a level towards the end)! I'm glad you brought up the confusion though, it might be a good idea to highlight where the door is even when blocks cover it or find an alternative! Thank you for the feedback!

Slideworld by XRy 2023-10-03T23:03:07Z

@stefan-b thanks!!

Slideworld by XRy 2023-10-04T06:26:01Z

@panda-king-976 just to clarify, you know everything you need to know to beat stage 7 once you get there! I'm really sorry if it seems like it's impossible since there is a leap in logic you need to make but you can do it!! I believe in you

Slideworld by XRy 2023-10-04T16:52:22Z

@recher Thanks for the tip, I opted out of audio! I didn't use puzzlescript, but the pixel art graphics are inspired by it, yes! I hope you can try to reach the final level 8, and skip if you need to!

@xeniarta i'm glad you came back to beat level 4!! That's the hardest one for me too, I ran out of time to balance the difficulty, so for some reason level 4 out of 8 is the most strenuous, LOL. Adding a move count is a great idea too! Thanks for the feedback!!

@zach-rouhana Thank you for the feedback! I totally agree on the buttons, somehow I thought to make a skip button but not a reset button? LOL, I wish I could go back and change it.

@panda-king-976 I'm really glad you figured it out, level 7 is my favorite in the game haha, it's interesting how it's either one of the easiest or hardest levels for some people

@random-storykeeper Wow hi! Somehow, I remember your name from years ago on soundcloud, lol! Thanks for the feedback, I agree level 4 is too tough compared to everything else. I also think the colors are a bit of an issue, especially since colorblind friends may have a hard time playing, maybe I need to use unique textures as well. I realized a mechanic I didn't finish implementing can cause problems with moving the perimeter, I might go back in and fix that. Thank you for the feedback!!

@stevenjmiller Thank you for the comment! My hope was that the main twist would be a big surprise and change how you see the game, maybe the space isn't so limited after all!

Cat Games by alzhu1 2023-10-04T16:02:27Z

I thought it was nice that there was always a little wiggle room, you're always given more jumps that you actually need in each level, which made it relaxing. The art, music, and sfx were implemented very well! And including the UI with instructions is great! I'd say the only small downside is that for me, the game was not very exciting or interesting to play, but creating an accessible and playable game is a great feat in and of itself! The game feel is great and the limited jump mechanic doesn't outstay it's welcome either. Overall, great job!

Mini Architect by Mr Bluecap 2023-10-04T06:48:57Z

This is awesome! The UI is very intuitive, it felt to me like a cooking game and house planning game combined, so cool! The graphics are wonderful, the vibe is immaculate, I think the time pressure might be a little too much, and I'm not sure if some impossible requests were impossible on purpose (or maybe I am misinterpreting them), but I kind of liked having to judge a request first to determine if it's even worth my time to try and help the customer out, that kind of thinking shows how invested I got into the world of the game after playing through a few days, overall such a good job!!

Don't Touch The Pylon. by Ezard94 2023-10-04T00:53:16Z

Love it a lot, how you choose your own difficulty with waiting. Very unique, great job!

Lights by epicpants 2023-10-04T15:23:21Z

Not sure how to access your game if you have one! Your source code links to an empty repo

Princess can jump by Xeniarta 2023-10-03T03:13:32Z

I love the humor and fun story of the game! The game is not very innovative as a platformer I think, but controlling the character felt really nice even with the limited jumps and integrates the theme in a very unique way! Overall, Nice job!

LD55 — Summoning

Cat and Box by benpigchu 2024-04-16T09:17:15Z

this game's concept and execution are totally on point, super awesome!!

Summon Rift by Jottap 2024-04-16T21:51:05Z

I was a little confused but had a lot of fun! The structure is a bit like a fun clicker idle game! I love that you can summon army members on top of each other too!

Glyphwalker by Papaver 2024-04-16T19:17:23Z

The audio is so well done!! My favorite level was #5, and #2 was so great at teaching the summoning shape!

Summation by CodeChomper 2024-04-21T07:27:14Z

Having to anticipate the chaotic movement of the enemies is pretty interesting! It's so unique to see something that in my opinion is more like a puzzle game with an action twist instead of an action game with a puzzle twist.

Sheep Tunes by kazuo256 2024-04-19T10:32:57Z

The game looks and sounds wonderful! I was not very sure how to control what I actually played and how to encourage more or less sheep/wolves to follow, but it was very interesting

Demon At Duty by TevasLiutauras 2024-04-17T16:24:43Z

awesome game!! One thing is i wish i could see the range of how far the demon moves before clicking, sometimes i overshoot where i think the demon can go versus where it actually goes

Words of Power by nsadie 2024-04-16T19:02:23Z

This is awesome, I'm so glad to see someone else make a game about summoning with words too!! I love the atmosphere and mood, and the specific requirements to make a summoning occur, and the fact that it can go wrong, is perfect!

Lucky Little Darlings by Emiliabea 2024-04-17T01:47:17Z

Cozy wonderful vibes!! The world and story are great too!

The Duke's Cartographer. by Wolfier 2024-04-18T01:40:56Z

Really interesting concept, I like it!! Loved the aspect of getting to peek at other places based on the edges of a tile, and map out tiles without having to visit them.

Sinful Scoops by Blue Pin Studio 2024-04-16T09:38:00Z

Amazing game!!

Hentoad by Nazorus 2024-04-17T21:46:32Z

Played it on android, it's amazing! Loved figuring out how to use the characters together to my advantage!

Harod: The Eternal Summoning by KPidS 2024-04-16T17:47:53Z

Had a ton of fun with the story and the multiple endings!

Démon Puzzle Attack by Roroto Sic 2024-04-16T19:36:18Z

Amazing!! The art style is amazing! Sometimes I noticed when playing blocks might get misaligned off the grid and become immovable but otherwise was perfect! I'm still curious what the UI on the right side means, like the bomb icon. Also just holding down the raining blocks button and watching more fall down and clear themselves was fun!

Crossworld by XRy 2024-04-18T00:22:22Z

@beebster-games @nsadie The word association is done with a Web API request in Unity, the API utilizes [Word2Vec](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Word2vec) word embeddings (natural language processing). Basically, the API can use that and calculate the distance between word embeddings, which can be translated into meaning the semantic similarity between words. I thought the mostly intuitive yet sometimes strange correlations it finds between words is kind of like rituals where you have to summon creatures with incantations!

@nsadie if you're able to share the weird graphical artifacts with a screenshot let me know, hopefully it's not something that might trigger epilepsy! I never saw that when testing the game out (granted, I did not have a lot of time for testing, LOL)

MEOWTERSPACE by Tetracold 2024-04-19T10:45:43Z

The style is so out of this world! I love the wide variety of UFOs too! Although, I did find the first kind the most useful, I'm wondering if there's some ways to make even more synergy between the UFOs to encourage mixing them together

Astral Tale by Oznarox 2024-04-16T19:08:50Z

Very chill game! the platforming is floaty, simple and fun!

Solomon's Apprentice by Carlos Garcia-Perez 2024-04-16T09:10:27Z

Awesome, I summoned a demon! It is pretty small but intuitive and fun! I wonder if different methods could summon different kinds of demons!

Amazing Gamble Life by xuanqiuyun 2024-04-17T18:39:39Z

This game is super addicting, i love discovering everything you can get in the game! I did stay in Day 1 for a very long time, forgetting to progress the game LOL but it was a lot of fun!

Amazing Gamble Life by xuanqiuyun 2024-04-18T06:07:39Z

My friend needs to know, Is there a dinosaur in the game? Thanks

Also, it's not very relevant, but I found a lot of joy in using momentum to throw large objects like the animals up and out of of the play area into the sky.

nice short game :D

Duck Spawner by Myse 2024-04-16T09:20:02Z

it's so much fun to see a huge crowd of ducks all look from the left to the right to follow your cursor!

Fellwand by Albatross 2024-04-17T01:26:39Z

I actually love how crazy the movement can get in this game, going from platforming normally to realizing you can just bounce from the far left to the far right in order to climb was cool! I also really appreciated the tips that would occasionally appear on the top left! One thing I wish was clearer in the game was understanding when I've been hit and maybe having more chances to get out of the way, rather than the health bar dropping to 0 and the game closing before I've realized what happened

Demon Doodles by Storeyware 2024-04-18T06:31:12Z

I loved seeing the variety and creativity in the game! Was amazing!
