LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Don't protest me! by KuKuRammus 2022-04-09T11:46:47Z

I made to 120 days! I liked the simplicity of the gameplay, it was really easy to understand. Though the game was pushing too hard even I made the best choices (I think?) and spammed the hell out of money printer, it felt like it wpuld be impossible to score beyond ~150 days. I wonder if RNG is a big thing in this game. *Maybe I am missing something...*

There is a bug or something with the enforcement card, the cooldown didn't seem to work and it's effectiveness was a bit randomized I think. Sometimes it felt like the card was useless and sometimes it was a game changer, I didn't like how inconsistent it was.

Music getting louder when you are close to losing is a really nice touch! I liked the art and sound effects a lot, really stylized. Use of theme is good and both the humor and the mood is pleasant. Well done!

The Ancient Time Tree by darkboulevard 2022-04-05T00:04:26Z

I really liked the fluent/fast gameplay! Though the introduction font was a bit hard to read.

Tide of Rot by ryusui 2022-04-07T09:53:30Z

I like the gameplay, though sound effects gave me an headache (Too loud maybe?). Also, I would like to play as a smaller character with smaller hitbox in this kind of bullet hell games. Fun though, good job!

Evacuation of Zorkid by SIGILL 2022-04-05T00:41:48Z

I had fun. It would be really cool to have some song or audio though!

I have to defend my town but they only gave me an arrow by xenok 2022-04-05T00:10:44Z

Fun game! Aiming visuals are a bit glitchy but definitely links the theme!

MOTH by Beefsock 2022-04-06T15:10:44Z

I really liked the atmosphere, visuals and audio fit together. Well done!

Seed Of Time by theStoff 2022-04-05T01:03:56Z

Stunning art, link does not work though.

Crowd Control by ModdingMachine 2022-04-11T11:57:27Z

I didn't get the point at first but after I lost for the first time, I just wanted to replay and experiment with it. I made a high score of 172, my strategy was to separate angry/swearing/sad peoples with the normal guys and it actually worked for a time. It is really innovative and weirdly addicting. Good job! Now I will experiment with it more :v:

Burning Spirit by dotPoozer 2022-04-08T09:04:41Z

Really sad game :crying_cat_face: I loved the mood overall. The graphics and especially the music fit really well! I think animations could (like the tree burning) be improved but you can't ask more than this game in a jam!

There are things I would change with the gameplay though. To be honest, I didn't even read the description of the cards because I could just spam them like there is no cooldown to get more cards. I just put more cards to attack superior enemies, that was all my strategy. Another reason for me not reading description of the cards was that the game is fast. While you are fighting, the enemies still attack the sacred tree so there was no time to read/strategize.

Time stop is a must when fighting I think. Also a cooldown to collect cards or in a way, make the cards more scarce may be cool. Also our spirit could have it's own HP to use when fighting so instead of our tree, we could get hurt (But I think this idea would not fit the story for the ending, maybe a second ending that we die?).

To make the game more detailed, there could be like upgrades for our character or even the tree itself; simple as being able to hold more cards or increase movement speed. I would like to be able to repair/heal the tree with cards or maybe something else like orbs that you can use outside of the fights to do cool stuff like building walls to make game last longer.

I wouldn't say the game is that much innovative but definitely combines some good mechanics with a sorrowful :sob: story, beautiful aesthetics and music so you guys pretty much nailed it, well done! *I will go cry now, my spirit is burning...*

Save the Reactor by Old Man Dave 2022-04-05T00:23:59Z

Really innovativ but I found the gameplay a bit too hard, also font gets broken when full screen.

Sands of Time by TheMentalSheep 2022-04-05T00:34:30Z

Just finished the game, level design is a bit confusing. But concept and application of theme is really good!

CryptoHunk Market Platform by jabsatz 2022-04-05T11:42:01Z

It was confusing at first (Probably because I have never done trading lol) but I liked the overall experience.

Escape Grades by naplz 2022-04-05T05:28:27Z

Lol. Good one.

CinderWoods by kirypto 2022-04-05T06:59:53Z

Really cute graphics. The gameplay was a bit confusing at first but when you get the hang of it, it's really fun. I think a pixel font could be better in the UI.

Bitboy by Proxy-Games 2022-04-07T07:10:09Z

I was like wow, this game actually has a really fun yet simple gameplay and a really humorous setting. *Spoilers after this*

I didn't give much meaning to those "delete" buttons at first but when I saw the first glitch, I was like â—Ž_â—Ž

Then saw the "An unexpected WebGL error occurred" screen and I thought that it was the ending screen until I checked the comments, dude I was wrong. I thought that refreshing the page would just reset the game so that's why it is inevitable but nope, there was more.

The 4th wall/meta part is made really good with the atmosphere. Music and the glitches gave me goosebumps. It is the only game I played which nailed both the mood and humour at the same time, great job!

What, You APE? by PixelTaku 2022-04-07T10:04:39Z

Creative and unique game on the theme! I really liked the humor and the gameplay was a bit confusing at parts (I didn't really understand the boss fight) but mostly simple. Maybe (if not already) the game could start slow and get faster by time so the difficulty is more dynamic. Well done!

Impossible Journey by Thulyo Araujo 2022-04-05T03:32:11Z

It is really cool to see games written in Java. Graphics could be better but I like the old school vibes here.

TimeCave by Karahan 2022-04-05T00:55:30Z

Thanks for all the feedback!

We tried to apply the theme in story and mechanics. I agree that fade away screen is a bit long. Not being able to cancel your jump is definitely intended but you can change the direction before releasing the charge.

I put the white flag especially there because I thought people would give up there :smiling_imp: There is a checkpoint just a little after that point.

Unfortunately, the tiny bump collision bugs are not that easy to fix because of the graphics (not using tiles or anything).

Have fun!

TimeCave by Karahan 2022-04-05T11:43:24Z

There is an arrow pointing top, maybe try playing it on fullscreen if you can't still see it.

TimeCave by Karahan 2022-04-05T12:04:18Z

Hey, there is a checkpoint. Thanks for the feedback!

TimeCave by Karahan 2022-04-14T07:54:01Z

Thanks for all the feedback! I agree that trajectory lines and linear progression of the charging bar would make the game a little bit more easier and intuitive. Though death on collision is definitely the core mechanic of game, I don't think the game would have any depth without it. I think the correct way to make the game a bit easier is to add more checkpoints so it's easier to progress.

I wouldn't say death is random, there are some tiny collision bumps but they shouldn't affect the gameplay much. Game definitely requires you to build a muscle memory to understand how long your jump will be.

About the theme, you "delay death" by using waterfalls and the ending/plot is about "delaying the time" which is definitely inevitable. :fireworks:

Silentio by Emulization 2022-04-07T06:26:17Z

The art style is really unique and cool! Also I liked the mood a lot. Though the gameplay could be a bit easier I guess? Sorry for my skill issues :)

Crime Time by bodCodes 2022-04-09T11:29:08Z

I liked that you can strategize by just not moving to stop time, it definitely gave the game depth especially in scenarios that there is no way to escape. Music and sound effects were nice, graphics were not bad though I had some issues with game resolution/scaling when changing it. This game reminded me of a game called Monaco, really fun overall!

Time Dash by Agyrzstar 2022-04-05T01:06:01Z

Simple controls are the way to go! I really like the minimalist approach visually.
