This game looks really cool. The intro is nice and the world looks great. I ran into an error which crashed my game when I tried to fight a minor blaze. Everything else looks really cool though.

A real-time card battler with a bunch of cards, cut scenes, awesome graphics and great music. Very impressive for a game jam entry! I can definitely see this concept being expanded upon.
Neat little game with cute graphics and music, creating great mood. I'm scared of the amount of work putted in it during 3 days given. Great submission, thank you!
Wow! This game looks great! It's pretty fun to collect elemental cards and make a strategy to fight the enemies. I think it would be nice to teach the enemies' elemental properties in the tutorial in a more graphic way rather tan just text. Great work!
Wait the tree had animals next to it, did they die? noooo. Wow the art is magnificent, love the music too, visually its one of the best in the jam, but the game has some problems, its too fast paced for a card battle, seems there is no strategy involved just collect water cards and attack the flames, and sometimes its hard to drag the cards into the slot. Fits the theme well though.
Crazy scope for a game jam, yet delivering on so much of it. Very impressive.
Art is amazing, the code holds up and you can tell a lot of work and passion went into this. Intro/outro videos are very well done too.
Gameplay very interesting but the strategy (and lots of comfy art) gets lost due to the stress of everything happening in real time. There's no time for me to read the cards, appreciate the art, understand special abilities etc - just quickly grab 8 sand cards, throw 4 of them at each enemy (no time to calculate how much dmg i actually have to do), rinse & repeat.
In short, incredibly impressive (and great-looking) game that could reach even higher with just a few small tweaks. Ping me if you keep developing on it - i'd love to try it again!
Great game! Has a distinct style. Audio, Graphics and cutscenes are especially good, they are very well done and quickly get you into the mood. I had my fair share of fun with it. Gameplay mechanic lacks in polish, though. Right now it boils down to "run to the nearest card pool, hit space 8 times, run to the enemy, use all the cards, repeat". But proof of concept is there and I think that with some improvements it can be a really fun game! Thanks for the experience!
The graphics look great. In the beggining I thought it would be better for the game to pause during combat, but after learning the basics not pausing added intensity. Getting to an enemy in range was a little buggy. Very cool.
One of the most beautiful pieces of art across all the games in this game jam. The gameplay is fine but could be better. Don't understand some game design choices and balance. You can just take only sand cards and beat all enemies. After 5 minutes of 1-2 enemies spawning at the time, the Game hit me with 10 mobs at the same time.
Literally my first ever attempt to create music 💪😎🌸
Such an indepth game for such a small amount of time! The story telling was so good, the battle mechanic was really cool, and the artwork and and music were great! Took me a hot second to realise i couldn't leave a battle mid way and keep the damage to the enemy. The type advantages could've been explained only in the case of the special one, the fire and water were self explanitory of course :p Overall amazing!
Beautiful art! Nice game idea. Would probably nice if time stopped while you are fighting, otherwise you don't have much time and end up just spamming whichever cards.
@digitaldude555 No no no, they didn't die, they scattered and are safe in a new place! I'm sure! But the spirit wasn't so lucky, it stayed till the end, our brave warrior :(
So touching :crying_cat_face: Music, graphics and the mood are so wonderfull! So about mechanics, it is very good idea with drawing cards from different places of the nature, I understand that you just didn't have much time to implement it the maximum way! I wish this game has post-jam version and will be polished to your best conception.
Screen Shot 2022-04-06 at 10.55.19 AM.png I was only able to get the sand cards how do you get the other ones?
@PurpoAppo Other cards can be obtained from water and select flowers. But looking at your score you are doin' fine with sand alone. Nice :)
An interesting game. At first I didn't understand and couldn't miss the cut scene, but when I started attacking enemies, I realized what was what according to the logic of the object maps. We need more tutorials at the beginning
Really sad game :crying_cat_face: I loved the mood overall. The graphics and especially the music fit really well! I think animations could (like the tree burning) be improved but you can't ask more than this game in a jam!
There are things I would change with the gameplay though. To be honest, I didn't even read the description of the cards because I could just spam them like there is no cooldown to get more cards. I just put more cards to attack superior enemies, that was all my strategy. Another reason for me not reading description of the cards was that the game is fast. While you are fighting, the enemies still attack the sacred tree so there was no time to read/strategize.
Time stop is a must when fighting I think. Also a cooldown to collect cards or in a way, make the cards more scarce may be cool. Also our spirit could have it's own HP to use when fighting so instead of our tree, we could get hurt (But I think this idea would not fit the story for the ending, maybe a second ending that we die?).
To make the game more detailed, there could be like upgrades for our character or even the tree itself; simple as being able to hold more cards or increase movement speed. I would like to be able to repair/heal the tree with cards or maybe something else like orbs that you can use outside of the fights to do cool stuff like building walls to make game last longer.
I wouldn't say the game is that much innovative but definitely combines some good mechanics with a sorrowful :sob: story, beautiful aesthetics and music so you guys pretty much nailed it, well done! *I will go cry now, my spirit is burning...*
Great entrance! The art is great, you can see a lot of work there. The music is excellent too, I think they achieved a great atmosphere so that the gameplay feels very good xD, the card battles are a great idea. I think it's a concept that you can continue working on and polishing, good job!
Great work with Cardsystem
Really impressive game for a jam! A feature rich game delivering an emotional story. Really well done. The only thing that was a bit unfortunate was that it felt like the best strategy to just throw random cards at enemies as quickly as possible. Maybe freezing time during encounters or limiting the card ressources would've helped to make me try and optimize my ressource usage. But since not fully killing everything in one go restores the enemy back to full I was being pessimistic and threw as much at them as I could. Also the cards could use some more separation between flavor text and what they actually do as it was kinda difficult to parse at a aglance. Still incredibly fun to just throw around cards that you picked up. Love the idea of cards based on the terrain that you pick them up in. So much potential to evolve this further!
Very cool idea, and nice execution for such a short time. The graphics are really good. And I wouldn't expect more than one card per each element, but you surprised me
