LD28 — You Only Get One

lights out by Waterman7 2013-12-17T20:52:00

Great mechanics and visuals. Took a while before I understood that you could charge your shots but after that it was very fun to hunt down and kill the enemies. I would love to see levels or some kind of progress.

Princess Kingdom by ncannasse 2013-12-16T12:24:00

Very nice game and awesome graphics but I got stuck at Castle Level 3 and couldn't get past the fire.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Up n Down by syawqy 2014-04-28T11:43:00

At first I was very sceptical since it looked half-finished but when I started playing it was actually very fun! The physics are great and I love that it's not about how many moves you do but just about getting up up up. It's a very satisfying feeling just pushing the ball upwards through the blocks.

I think the ray behind the ball is very nice and would love to see the rest of the graphics in the same style. It's a bit annoying that clicking sometimes highlights the page.

Captain John's Buried Treasures by martijn 2014-04-28T10:49:00

Very nice!

I had some performance issues but other than that I enjoyed it very much. It's a very satisfying feeling wrecking havoc with the bombs and it was funny the first time I got squashed by my own greediness.

It would be nice to be able to go back a level since I accidentally jumped to the next one.

Beast Emerging by adcrusher 2014-04-28T15:08:00

Perfect graphics and sound. Really solid work!

It was exciting to see the monster transform. Things like that makes you want to try again.

Beneath The Lab by Techblogogy 2014-04-28T11:36:00

Very cool and I love the Portal inspiration, especially the audio. :) Unfortunately I wasn't able to get past the level where you are supposed to put boxes on three green plates. I just couldn't find the third box! But overall this is one of the best submissions I've seen so far. It's the kind of game you want to play, with innovative mechanics.

Mayoran by zorfmorf 2014-04-28T14:29:00

One of my favourites this LD! Very ambitious but still feels complete. Great atmosphere and I loved the ending.

Pyramid Escape by MrJavaFrank 2014-04-28T13:59:00

Nothing happens when I run the .exe. Too bad since it looks really fun!

Ben is the Surf Ace by lessmilk 2014-04-28T11:27:00

Oh, took a while before I realized you're the 12 games in 12 weeks guy I've seen a couple of times on Hacker News. Your work is very inspiring. :)

Anyway, I like it. The graphics and audio are very fitting but it would be funnier if the difficulty continued to increase. I got to 341 before giving up.

SurfaceDare by Skabunkel 2014-04-28T10:56:00

Short but enjoyable. It took a while to figure out how to move in the water but once you knew it it felt a bit like QWOP with equally as hilarious things happening when you failed. Smooth graphics. Good job!

Deep Down by Cheetoturkey 2014-04-28T10:42:00

I like the concept but it felt quite rough. For example the collision detection went completely bonkers and made me float around in the walls. This persisted even after I died.

Thinking in Minecraft terms I thought I could build myself a shelter but that didn't really work since the zombies spawned inside of it. :)

Anyway, good job!

the Attack - Beneath the Surface by Franklin's Ghost 2014-04-28T12:01:00

The gameplay is not very fun but the graphics and audio make up for it. It's like watching contemporary art. I would love to see an adventure game in the same setting.

The Dead rest Beneath Us by flrn 2014-04-28T11:02:00

Very nice graphics and physics but I wasn't able to even get close to saving anyone. It felt like I was missing something.

Surface Layered Balls by leddkire 2014-04-28T14:09:00

This is a really nice and simple concept that I bet can make interesting levels and puzzles. I was however not able to get past the level where you need to stick the ball to the wall (the one in the first screenshot). I could never get to the door in time before the ball turned red again and fell down.

Good job anyway!

Mia and the Mole by Foofur 2014-04-28T11:08:00

Nice! Lovely graphics and music. Unfortunately I think there was a bug that made me start immediately at level 10 without any instructions. I didn't realize it and just thought the game was really hard. When I finally beat it the intro text appeared and I started on level 1.

Anyway, really good job! The mood is a fiver on this one.

There Is Gold Beneath The Surface by JulianMH 2014-04-28T13:55:00

Out of all the games I've played in this LD this is probably the one I've spent most time with. After a while I stopped caring about not destroying cities and eventually managed to upgrade everything.

Overall a really solid game. I love the parallax effect.

Gravity by jsmars 2014-04-28T11:20:00

Awesome job. Very unforgiving but also very addictive. The graphics are the best I've seen in the competition so far. Overall it feels very complete and polished.

Miner Grievance by Jack 2014-04-28T11:53:00

Cool game! The destruction is satisfying.

I don't have a gamepad so I played it on the keyboard and unfortunately the controls (WASD + Left Shift) isn't very intuitive and made the gameplay less fun than I think it could be.

Overall I think it's good though and I would love to try out the multiplayer since it feels like it would fit the concept perfectly.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Galactic Paperboy by Aaants 2014-08-25T11:03:00

Best graphics I've seen so far! Very polished overall and fun gameplay with satisfying physics. Amazing job. I find it a bit hard (keep crashing into planets straight away) but I will give it another try now. Very fitting music as well. All I'm missing is some rockety sound effects. Again, amazing job! I'm impressed.

Monochrome by Retr0spectrum 2014-08-25T14:53:00

Solid platform mechanics which feel nice. Simple but good graphics and music/sounds. I really like the idea of a parallel world you can access on the fly. I think you can do a lot with the concept. It's annoying that you need to replay from the start since it's pretty challenging and requires trial'n'error. Good job!

BeatGarden by Pfeyffer 2014-08-25T09:48:00

Fun mechanics and very nice graphics! I can imagine this would make a great tablet game.

Connected by DarkEngineer 2014-08-25T10:54:00

Same problem here.

QOT by eruiz00 2014-08-25T10:26:00

One of my favorites so far! Innovative, fun and addicting. Finally beat level 1. :) Will give it a go on my Android tablet later. Very well done!

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Valley of Trolls by johannesl 2014-12-09T18:31:00

Confusing at first but as soon as I got the hang of it I was hooked and played several games. It's a simple concept but you still need some solid strategy to win. The feeling of mustering troops for a mission is great and after a while the logistics just come natural. The time limit is a great touch on something that would otherwise probably feel stale and slow (like waiting for each other to make a move). I also like that you move at the same time and not every other turn. It makes it very intense.

Nice graphics and pretty fitting audio as well (although the sound when losing a village is a bit loud). It's also very ambitious to make a multiplayer game and I'm impressed that you pulled it off. A couple of matched had 3 and even 4 players!

I would love to see this become a fully featured game with a lobby, ranking and ladder etc. It reminds me of KDice (a multiplayer version of Dice Wars) but without the crazy randomness. You can't blame it on the RNG if you lose in Valley of Trolls.

Kubism by Znurre 2014-12-09T18:08:00

Great mechanics and well executed. Very fun and innovative!

I also beat the highscore. 110540. :)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Eschaton, Dark Forest of the by Tygrak 2022-04-05T11:21:53Z

Very unique style. The mood and graphics remind me of Inscryption, in a good way. Regarding finding stabilisers you can use echolocate (Q) for them to send sonars. Will definitely play more!

At Least You're Not Extinct Yet by shizuka 2022-04-05T09:13:54Z

This is great! I love how you intuitively start sorting them out by gender and size, making it a pretty creative challenge. Very satisfying to try to breed a creature as big as possible. Good job!

I'm Not A Robot by Turkey 2022-04-04T13:24:52Z

Way more fun than expected. :)

Love Finds A Way by Dining Philosopher 2022-04-05T16:29:05Z

Lovely graphics and the gameplay is unexpectedly deep and challenging. I had to do a lot of thinking planning out the routes and detours. Bonus point for those sound effects!

Sheep Heard by ChrisAntem 2022-04-04T20:35:30Z

Ok, this is great! Very unique mechanic that feels confusing at first but brilliant once you master it. I don't think I've ever seen something like it before where you need to take into account the travel time for the "movement" to apply. Great graphics and music/sfx as well. Love how the sheep are rolling. Overall an awesome game!

All Will Be Dust by Matt Heinrich 2022-04-05T16:42:23Z

I'm a fan of wave shooters so this was right up my alley. Really good graphics and mood. One thing I also think was cool was that "corpses" of the enemies actually blocked other enemies, adding depth to the strategy. I would love to see a version with more weapons and enemy types.

The Journey of the HMS Theseus by Tad 2022-04-04T20:29:43Z

Great graphics and fun gameplay! A bit annoying that the command sometimes didn't seem to register but worked around it on my fourth attempt and managed to get to shore. While I like that you can finish it it kind of defeats the "inevitable" part of the theme. But still, good job!

Annihilation by Schuster 2022-04-04T18:20:53Z

This is great! Very fun and satisfying mechanics. Nice graphics and a good twist to the "prevent the exponential spread" concept with a planet as the arena. Would love to see a version with even more powers.

Tetro-Cleaner by daniFM 2022-04-04T20:53:15Z

I love this! Very interesting idea that I haven't seen before. I got to 480 or something (love that double sword). Imagine a multiplayer version where one person is playing regular Tetris and the other Tetro-Cleaner.

The Greedy Pirates by Rolly 2022-04-05T11:35:20Z

Very cool take on the typing game genre! You typing to shout commands make so much sense. Great graphics, sound and mood. As another commenter said, a FTL game in this style would be awesome.

Ticking Clock by FlipKING78 2022-04-04T14:44:11Z

Very meditative and the controls feel really fluid. Good job!

Horde! by Fear Games 2022-04-05T10:40:58Z

Great game! The graphics are good and the camera angle creates a unique feeling. I love how you keep building up your horde and how they help you eat more brains to build an even bigger horde. Kind of sad that it ended after 300, since I wanted to see how it looked when I had like 10000 zombies. It would make a pretty cool idle game where you initially have to hunt down brains yourself but then have such a big horde that they do it automatically.

Summer Vacation by roryh 2022-04-04T12:58:40Z

I played this way more than I thought I would. At first it was really frustrating but once I understood the controls and that it was actually turn based it became quite fun. I died many times at like 7 wood and stone before I finally managed to build a shelter (the trick was to place your campfires easily accessible to pick up the wood and stone when it burnt out).

Unfortunately I accidentally pressed Escape after building it which froze the game in the HTML5 version. However, I don't know if there is any more content after the shelter.

Good game anyway!

Burning Spirit by dotPoozer 2022-04-05T11:15:36Z

A real-time card battler with a bunch of cards, cut scenes, awesome graphics and great music. Very impressive for a game jam entry! I can definitely see this concept being expanded upon.

Volcano by ABRDs 2022-04-04T14:17:37Z

One of my favorite entries so far! Once I realized you could gather things Katamari Damacy style it became really satisfying building up huge balls of items to drop into the volcano. I think this concept could really be expanded upon in a full game. Really good music and nice graphics too.

InevitaBallistics by JHax 2022-04-05T16:36:02Z

A nice little game! Good graphics and music/sfx. I especially liked that the rockets are drifting so you actually have some chance to outsmart them by planning your path. Multiple levels offering different types of strategies added longevity to it. Good job!

Planet Saver by PashaLoban 2022-04-04T14:27:49Z

I felt it ended too soon (thought I was way ahead at score 33) but I really like the mechanic of the earth spinning. Solid graphics as well. I'm imagining the same concept but where you build and need to attend your own structures on top of it. Good job!

Forest Runner by Tharbakim 2022-04-04T17:44:52Z

I like what I see but I presume something is wrong since Estimated Lead says "Hours" and no enemy ever spawns. Or did I misunderstand something?

Captain Starforce by extar 2022-04-04T18:35:30Z

Great graphics and music/sfx! I couldn't figure out what to do once your cargo was full though. Any pointers?

NAP GUARDIAN by nethead 2022-04-04T15:02:31Z

Amazing graphics, sound and general feeling. Took a while to get used to the dashing mechanic but now I feel like a ninja. I like the stress of having the money but no time to go shop because you're busy fighting, and when you finally find a gap you go on a shopping spree just spamming down. Very satisfactory. :)

Look Up! by Cinar 2022-04-05T09:44:56Z

This is really nice! Moving your cannon on an arc gives the asteroid shooter concept a fresh feeling. I never got the nuke to work before I died but maybe I have to upgrade more.

Good graphics but I think some chunky sound effects would really do a lot for this type of game. If the game had more upgrades and weapons I could imagine myself coming back to it to play a few rounds now and then, so you're definitely on to something. Good job!

Loose screw by Codexzier 2022-04-04T19:37:38Z

Pretty nice game! Like a single-player Overcooked. Good graphics and a very nice tune. I cheesed by letting three of the machine break and then just focus on one. :D

Trash Panic! by Defrag 2022-04-04T13:17:05Z

Those sound effects. :D I have no idea what's going on but I like the chaos and physics!

CinderWoods by kirypto 2022-04-04T19:58:21Z

Very nice! Good graphics and satisfying feeling when harvesting, building and stopping the fire. Managed to get to 21239 on third attempt. Love that Wilhelm Scream. :D

My idea was also about stopping an exponentially growing fire so feel free to check it out if you want to see a different take on the concept.

Anyway, great job and good take on the theme!

The Fire Will Die by PolymathLD 2022-04-05T11:06:50Z

A beautiful game, both graphically and emotionally. If a game is 5/5 mood this is it. I'm so glad to see there will be more because I need it.

Kessler by EagleV 2022-04-04T16:18:58Z

Pretty fun game that is kind of a relaxing bullet hell. I love how other satellites and debris can crash into each other. Looks spectacular and fills a function. I had several situations where I thought I was toast just to have other things crash into the obstacle and save me just as I was about to hit it.

Bacterial Protection by Tiny Pig 2022-04-04T14:39:18Z

I agree with mgear that I wish there was some instructions outside the intro (just in the text below on itch would be enough). I had to reload twice to watch it again.

Anyway, I like the concept but felt it was very hard (or I was doing something wrong) and my blue colony never really grew beyond 5-6. Would love to get some tips for strategy and try again. :)

Hydropy by lantto 2022-04-05T17:06:41Z

Thank you all for the great feedback and comments! <3

@chrisantem 44644 is the highest I've seen so congrats to your friend!

@dining-philosopher That sounds strange. Did you only cut the first stage of the trees? The only thing blocking the lava is water which you spawn by cutting down all stages (last stage is palm trees).

@extar Hm, didn't it zoom out revealing more trees as you cut them down? Eventually lava should erupt which gets slowed down by water. The more you cut down the faster things grow and the bigger your cutting radius gets. So the goal is to cut down as much as possible (through all stages of trees) and create barriers of water.

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

I Have Put The Creature Into My Gun by Jezzamon 2024-10-07T12:04:43Z

This is amazing! Great concept with massive potential. I was sad when I realized that I had found the end and really craved for more content with more creature types.

Fireflies by manabreak 2024-10-07T21:14:33Z

Beautiful and amazing! The music glitched out and stopped in the room after the math problem, which was sad because I really enjoyed it.

Badabees by tanis 2024-10-07T19:12:16Z

Really frustrating at first but after a while the commands became second nature and I managed to snatch second place on the leaderboards. Great job! There's something really satisfying with letting your muscle memory work like this.

Pirate Bact Blaster by Phobos001 2024-10-09T11:36:08Z

Very satisfying feeling when shooting! I would love a more fleshed out version with more weapons and power-ups. Really cool that you made it in Rust with your own renderer as well. Kudos!

Pollinator's Path by voidraizer 2024-10-07T15:21:09Z

This is great! Took me a while to realize that you didn't have to one shot it. Honestly, I kind of liked having to plan out the whole thing in advanced but overall an intriguing concept anyway.

Honey for the Winter by adjo 2024-10-09T11:29:29Z

I didn't fully understand what was going on but it was intriguing nonetheless. The calendar thing at the bottom was very cool and it was really satisfying seeing the bees follow you when on a search.

Tribal Tribulations by multiplexor 2024-10-07T14:59:34Z

Overall very fun! The platform mechanics can be a bit frustrating but when it works it's very satisfying to shoot your followers and try to make them come with you. I agree that it needs a checkpoint system though. It felt really rough having to start over.

Sammich by ColeSlaughter 2024-10-08T22:29:38Z

I don't even need to tell you how amazing this is because you already know it. Spent so much time trying out different strategies but had to settle with a seventh place. Would love to see how @meep did it!

theSWARM_ by 0x0961h 2024-10-08T10:08:22Z

Made it to Wave 15 before it felt stale. I wish there would be more power-ups and enemy types. With that said, there are a lot of things I love about this - the perspective, the graphics, the sounds/music and the fact that each wave has a different objective. Oh, and it was really awesome to see the swarm growing into this big organic unit that was too big to destroy and always eventually came creeping up on you when you were doing an objective. Great job!

Screenshot 2024-10-08 at 12.02.48.png

Critters, Conjure, Cannonade! by PureGarlic 2024-10-08T12:18:26Z

This is great. Very satisfying to break the bottles, fill up the cauldron and then release the swarm on the level. I love the sound effects.

Kill them with fire by Krabban 2024-10-07T14:46:30Z

Definitely scratches that Vampire Survivors itch! High score: 176.5

Quantum 47x by jordantanner 2024-10-09T11:32:35Z

Unfortunately it doesn't work with Magic Mouse on Mac. It doesn't register the left button when holding so you can't shoot. Too bad since it looks like my type of game! I will see if I can get a chance to play it on PC and will rate it then.

Tiny Escape by Loig 2024-10-09T11:24:01Z

I didn't fully understand the behaviour of different enemies but I still found it fun to try to get as far as possible. I can imagine this being a great mobile game. I especially liked the sound effects!

Microadventure by cagibi 2024-10-07T21:28:09Z

Wow, the level of polish! Nothing bad to say about this. Defeated the Tardigrade and instantly wanted more. The sword mechanic was really satisfying as well.

BOILERMEN by diabolical-sloth 2024-10-07T14:30:47Z

I love this! Very interesting mechanics that creates a lot of unexpected situations. Graphics and sounds are top notch as well.

Tiny Legion by Pedryx 2024-10-07T11:47:50Z

Really cool concept! I love breeding games with DNA transfer. It's very hard though and I'm not sure what the optimal strategy is. I seldom get past round 3 and have the most success when I don't combine anything at all, which seems counterintuitive.

Ladybird Samurai by ellaris 2024-10-07T12:16:42Z

I really like the combat mechanic. It's very satisfying to kite and line up the enemies and shred through them in a flurry. I also like the challenges, forcing you to approach each level in a different way.

Goldfish Husbandry by gnats 2024-10-07T15:11:15Z

The breeding mechanic is a bit unintuitive but I enjoyed just messing around randomly since the graphics are so pretty to look at. Great job!

Tiny Flings by Shoalmuse 2024-10-07T21:34:23Z

I really liked this! The gravity factor makes every puzzle interesting and it feels satisfying to see your guy move along the trajectory you're aiming for. It would make a great mobile game.

Micro Mayhem by Derly 2024-10-07T21:17:50Z

This was much cooler than I expected. Good job!
