Yeah thats intended. Its a stealth game you are supposed to sneak around them and hide behind cover or wait for them to sleep at night.
Fun concept! Took a couple tries but managed to win.
Agreed @tengusheath that the enemies are too fast -- they can outrun you if they ever spot you during the day, and at night you can unfairly die if you walk into a monster's aggro range and then it turns day, since their aggro range is larger than your night vision range.
I did like the inversion where during the day you can see a lot but it's dangerous to move, and at night you can't see anything but it's safe to move towards what you saw during the day. I found myself scouting during the day and then rushing down the items I found during the night, which was a fun loop.
tough stuff. bit of strategy though with the night seemingly (if well planned) being safer than the day to pick up key items and such due to monsters being asleep. Maybe if you had a short dash or something at the cost of a little hunger (to let you make a narrow escape if you are running into some food or just at the edge of night and need to stall). otherwise, yeah, the monsters will wreck your shit
I had the key - and died a couple feet away from sweet retirement
Pro tip, don't try to pet the lizards! Even when they are sleeping! The sound effect when being chased is perfect! And the feeling of escaping when being chased feels great. There's some food I thought was a coiled snake? But you can eat it and it won't kill you. I feel like the stealth mechanics work really well, the stealth part of the game could be messaged to the player in a way to get the players mindset around it instead of trying to treat it like a different type of game.
I really liked this entry, the more challenging games always keep me interested longer. I agree with the sentiment that it might be too unforgiving though. I like that the art style is consistent and I also liked the variety in the enemies and fruit. Good job!
Legitimately so scary hahaha I found myself planning out routes during the day, then doing them at night- fun mechanic :)
I loved the art style of this game and it was super fun to play. I thought the ai of the monsters were really cool too.
Solid game! The premise and mechanics of the game are so interesting and I agree with others that the way that you flipped how people usually move in games (move around at day and sleep at night) adds a way of playing I have never experienced; it's super cool! So impressed with how you came up with this idea for the theme. I would never have thought of it!
Loved the mood and concept. Nice twist to a survival game.
Awesome graphics and music!.
I agree with everyone that the monsters are too fast, and I get that it's a stealth game so it makes sense, but maybe you can have something like you can sprint, but the hunger bar goes down faster while doing so? That way it still requires some strategy to run away, and it's not just guaranteed or too easy.
I couldn't beat it, but I got the key one and then when daytime hit I was in the middle of 3 crocs so, no chance for me haha. Pretty fun game!
I won! Yay! Day and Night Cycle with the theme works really well. Some more sound effects could have been cool. Otherwise a solid game.
i loved the animation for day/night cycle, and the lizards are super cute and colorful! game itself is pretty challenging, but i like it though.
Fun game! I don't agree with the commentators that said the enemies where too fast, since you can avoid them by being careful and abusing bushes/night. However, I think some indication of which direction to go would have been useful.
