LD50 — Delay the inevitable

The Fall of Mezentople by vgel 2022-04-05T13:54:38Z

@jess-from-online Thank you for such detailed feedback! I am already having a lot of ideas for ways to slow down and emphasize how the map updates to close that feedback loop more and earlier. I'm glad you enjoyed the experience! We may update this one, and will definitely keep iterating on this idea in the future :)

Heal me, please! by Andrey_Zhukov 2022-04-04T19:52:57Z

It was fun - slowly started to figure out how it works and warm up to it. I guess the inevitable part is that they'll always end up with more and more conditions to cure! It's expensive being a pharmacist.

My main feedback would be to start off simpler: just a couple ingredients and just a couple conditions to show how it works, then slowly unlock more complicated cases as the game goes on (I was quite overwhelmed at my pantry)

The art is delightful, and the idea is very fun. I'd love to see a v2 which lets you ramp up!

I Know What You Did Last Ludum Dare! by TentacleMax 2022-04-04T19:25:41Z

I love how it looks, sounds. The vibe is great, and I had fun with trying to scurry my mystery gang around. Wish I had a little more time or maybe a bit bigger window to select my charas - maybe it's just my trackpad, but I couldn't get too far.

Neon Force by Pascal Fitzner 2022-04-04T19:39:14Z

Same problem with the mouse sensitivity, but it had me trying a couple times despite that. Yeah maybe having alternating colors, or the inside of the gaps could be darker would help with visibility. Trippy vibes tho

insolation by hologramvin 2022-04-05T15:07:16Z

I like it ! I wasn't sure at first if I would keep being confused, but it slowly set in. The prose was a good balance of puzzling references to things you don't know and explaining the setting. And I got one of those moments where the dialogue and music line up and you get a lil chill. Pretty awesome for such a short project, and I'd def play a longer 8bit exploration horror game about sun-madness.

I would love to see the sun on the screen somehow, at the end. Or in a longer game, like out a window or something, as a constant, silent companion. I think the suggestion of the sun worked here for a prologue. It left me ready to go back into that setting and find out what's going on/linger in that ambience more, so I think that's a success!

Game User Experience Manager Simulator by jess from online 2022-04-05T14:47:09Z

I like the oppressive productivity manager interface. To see what it would say, I spent the first bit entering my own user# and trying to delete all the options/run out of money. Turns out you don't need any help losing money :) I had fun. It took me a little while to get the hang out it (I'm a terribly slow typist, so deleting two options at once while reading was challenging for me given the speed of the cursor). I ended up resetting to explore more because my long user backlog made getting back into a round a bit slow and frustrating.

Once it clicked, it seemed a interesting twist on a text adventure. More pressure, but also some sense of interaction with the mystery player. Lots of opportunities to have interaction between you and the simulated player. I wish there was more! And the visual design and theming were great and sold the micromanaging, rat-in-a-cage vibe.

Game User Experience Manager Simulator by jess from online 2022-04-05T15:15:53Z

@jess-from-online It def made me want to go looking for ways to get around it/find secrets. I think just having more levels, commands, and meta story interactions would be great - feels like a first level. I'll be looking out for it ! :)

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Forging Through Fire by ryusui 2022-10-04T05:07:11Z

I liked the puzzles - after a while I realized that you can stand right by the button and then step to see what the fire pattern will be and step back on if it would hurt you, which allows a bit of exploration rather than trial and error

I was getting a neopets vibe from our protagonist and in general - v nice. Really liked it overall

Alone by creepyounguy 2022-10-03T23:28:15Z

tough stuff. bit of strategy though with the night seemingly (if well planned) being safer than the day to pick up key items and such due to monsters being asleep. Maybe if you had a short dash or something at the cost of a little hunger (to let you make a narrow escape if you are running into some food or just at the edge of night and need to stall). otherwise, yeah, the monsters will wreck your shit

I had the key - and died a couple feet away from sweet retirement

Trick or Defeat by Feraligatr 2022-10-03T22:54:39Z

Spooky - got me in the mood for the season for real

Did y'all make all these assets and effects for the jam - it's packed!

Hot Celestial Bodies by Mr_DanH 2022-10-03T22:44:04Z

Great art - I wasn't sure how the dates were going, but it was nice to see I'd made some matches by the end. I don't care for emotional support fly - that's a red flag for me - so I just got rid of it regardless

I missed the SSR two times ;-;

Escape from The Aquillus by Alex de la Cour 2022-10-03T22:48:03Z

I like the look and the controls are good. There were some spots where there wasn't much to do but wait out the timer though.

Eucalyptus by Coderah 2022-10-04T04:29:34Z

Of course, you didn't get to get the whole system out, but by the end I was starting to realize a little how the memory system worked. I liked the fmv / rotoscope style and a game like that with movement (even not truly free movement, but point and click style scrolling) would be pretty cool

And I loved the song :)

You dreamed big but also put something out. It would be interesting to seeing iterations on some of these ideas

Countdown by rowen 2022-10-03T23:17:15Z

There were some bugs yes, like I kept getting stuck between the red box and the battery box next to the timer. Anyway, I beat it and felt strangely compelled to keep playing until I did. Love it
