I absolutely adore the art you put together for this. It took me a second to realize you could hover over the ingredients--opened with random clicking =); However, I figured it out quickly and got in to the challenge!

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-04 19:51

@omers YO! Thanks for the review - it's our pleasure :)

linnea-isaac 2022-04-04 19:52

It was fun - slowly started to figure out how it works and warm up to it. I guess the inevitable part is that they'll always end up with more and more conditions to cure! It's expensive being a pharmacist.

My main feedback would be to start off simpler: just a couple ingredients and just a couple conditions to show how it works, then slowly unlock more complicated cases as the game goes on (I was quite overwhelmed at my pantry)

The art is delightful, and the idea is very fun. I'd love to see a v2 which lets you ramp up!

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-04 20:00

@linnea-isaac In the beginning this was the plan, but due to the limited timeframe we had to cut off functionality. With every feature we cut off, a piece of our souls died. ;(

davide-rossetto 2022-04-04 20:02

Love the art! Very stylized and very consistent! The mechanic was also neat, great job! :v:

julienlussiez 2022-04-04 20:06

The art is really great. It was fun to find cure and disease.

nakami 2022-04-04 20:12

Nice Entry !

It's easy to understand how to play and what move to do. I like the way you have to discover the cure and affliction of each ingredient. It's no very ethic but it's fun to experiment on patient x)

forgin-bits 2022-04-04 21:35

Loved the art! I hadn't see at first that we could buy ingredients, but I had fun healing these poor villagers! Would have loved some music though :)

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-04 22:06

Unfortunately, there was not enough time to integrate the sound. Although we really wanted... How many villagers were cured?

midblue 2022-04-05 00:15

Hah!! I loved this! I love when the solution is also the problem — it makes for a really fun gameplay loop. The only thing I wanted was a hotkey to open/close the shop, since I spent so much time browsing it.

ashley-ware 2022-04-05 07:37

Loved playing! I really like the art style you chose, it feels like it fits the vibe you were going for (if that sentence makes sense?). I only wish we could see customer's afflictions while browsing the store, cause it was a bit rough opening and closing the menu so often. Other than that, great game! :)

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-05 09:44

@davide-rossetto @julienlussiez I agree - we have the best artist in the world :)

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-05 09:47

@nakami Disclamer: No rednecks were harmed during the making of the game. All the stunts were done by professionals. Do not try to do this at home. How many people have you cured? (the number in the upper right corner)

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-05 09:49

@midblue Hotkey is a good idea. It hadn't occurred to us, but we'll definitely consider it in the future

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-05 09:54

@ashley-ware I agree that the logic of the windows and the UI proved to be a challenge for us. Came to this solution not to turn the main screen into an "Excel spreadsheet". But it seems to me that we coped with it and created an intuitive interface without any additional cues

bohmann 2022-04-05 10:34

Wow what a beautiful art and gameplay, excellent LD work! Got 15 patients healed and after discovering all effects game starts to be too easy, you always use 2 not diseased ingredients and never use some other helpless ones. Overall game was made fantastic. One minus is that this game does not macth LD50 theme, or i'm blind didn't see the idea

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-05 11:36

@bohmann At first we wanted to make more different diseases and more complex chains to heal. But a team of 4 people physically couldn't do more in 3 days. So we had to make the balance simpler - so that it could be played without an additional tutorial. Because the balance is simpler, it's easier to heal. But try to play without Mushroom and Old Boots. I assure you - every next potion will be just a " delay the inevitable " :)

anaxie-studio 2022-04-05 11:40

I really like the concept and the art is just gorgeous! Overall pretty fun, I enjoyed figuring out all the recipes. I could imagine this as a bigger visual novel/mixing mix game like Coffee Talk. :relaxed:

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-05 11:43

@anaxie-studio Yes, she has the potential to do that - I agree with you. How many cured?

ottos 2022-04-05 11:47

Wooow!! I really enjoyed this one! Good job!! <ЗЗЗ I really enjoyed figuring out how each ingredient affects the patient. At some point I really wanted to start making notes, which I consider a good thing! I really enjoyed the artstyle of the game! Very simple, but very nice and clean. It's a very good attempt! Thank you for the game!

snory 2022-04-05 11:47

I was looking forward to play this game since the day I saw a print in the channel because it looked like taking care of someone as it is in my game.

But in the end it is something totally different. I liked how each cure fired back with disease (I think this is what make it inevitable, right?) which create a nice game loop. Not sure if the ones with the "?" were random or just hidden and I had to figure it out.

Graphic is really good, I like this kind of graphic. :)

What I missed is some challenge, I did not feel any conflict or call for action. Maybe to put some timer somewhere? Also I could sell all my hearts for money and then it would restore my hearts and I could start again.

neitri 2022-04-05 11:47

I did not expect this when I clicked the link, this is actually super fun, simple, but hard enough to be engaging.

xedur 2022-04-05 12:01

The art was certainly a delight. I think your game could have also greatly benefited from any any background music or audio. With a jam entry, you could have been lazy like I was and just fetch some CC0 materials. Even if audio isn't being rated, having audio makes the overall experience better.

I do enjoy these discovery type games where you need to mix and match, and learn of positive and negative side effects. Nice work!

anaxie-studio 2022-04-05 12:01

@Andrey_Zhukov I cured 7 before writing down my thoughts!

zolar 2022-04-05 12:42

Cool little game! This is fun to play. Especially if it gets worse and worse.

A feedback point would be: Why do you need a shelf *and* a shop? It would be so much easier to have the shelf with all ingredients and you pay as you use them. Browsing the ingredients would easier, too. Now you have to switch to the shop which is a bit unclear because you have to scroll.

shess 2022-04-05 13:03

It was a hilarious game, and even though I was relatively lucky in the first half, starting from maybe patient 6 was an insane juggle of cures and poisons :D Awesome graphics, by the way. The modular system created so much variety with a handful of assets, and every shape is distinct and pleasant to the eye.

skyeward 2022-04-05 14:36

Fun, doodle god-y approach, good art. Well done!

akitl 2022-04-05 15:28

you make all this arts ?! its realy good work !

ukulelefury 2022-04-05 16:58

:) Very cool game! The art is incredible! The idea of balancing treatments and side-effects is really good, and it's very interesting to think through when playing! A couple simple sounds and a simple free music track would have really helped the overall feel though! But I really like this game.

roronoacherry 2022-04-06 16:19

Fun and the interface is very intuitive, nice entry!

owca 2022-04-07 13:54

I love the art style!

xiris 2022-04-07 14:28

Woah, that is beautiful game. Seriously. I would love to be able to create amazing art like that. As others said - I would love the start to be a little bit gentler. Also a tutorial would be useful ^ ^. Over all great game!

polymathld 2022-04-07 14:29

Really nice and intuitive game concept. Feels like it would work just as well as a tabletop card game, which is a sign of a solid design. I do wish there were some satisfying sound effects, that would add a lot to the game, but I know it's Ludum Dare so some things inevitably fall by the wayside. Game looks great and is otherwise polished and fun to play. Nice work!

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-07 14:31

@owca Thank you, our artist is happy every time his art is praised. :) How many villagers have you cured?

gabriel-dias-oliveira-de-almeida 2022-04-07 14:49

I really enjoyed your game.

The sounds, the art, the HUD is completely insanely good! Congratulations to all the people that worked in this things!

The game design is really cool, because you have to think it through and it's not boring and it's not SO FAST that you got crazy.

I think this game could be a amazing commercial hit!

Congrats for the amazing game guys :D

vidu 2022-04-07 15:05

Your art is absolutely stunning ♥️ love the overall look of this game ✨

owca 2022-04-07 15:06

@andrey-zhukov I stopped after 18 cured villigers without losing any heart. After few tries the game becomes pretty easy.

martenscedric 2022-04-07 15:30

Pretty good mechanic

sofignedova 2022-04-07 15:56

Very beautiful! If you bring the mechanics to mind, it will be cool! As a beautiful prototype, it's a cool thing.

borabee 2022-04-07 16:13

Hello! I really liked the concept and artwork of this game! However, I could not play it properly because it didn't fit my screen, even on full screen mode. Reading the comments, no one else seems to have had that problem so I don't know what happened :( I'm playing on windows 10, chrome, 1366x768px screenchrome_cSfeeuxeAR.png Just commenting to let you know of this issue!

someoneman 2022-04-07 16:14

Literally unplayable. Even in fullscreen, some important things are offscreen.

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-07 16:43

@borabee @someoneman We would love to fix this problem, but unfortunately it's too late to change anything :( The only solution at the moment is to change the resolution on your desktop, for example 1920*1080

borabee 2022-04-07 17:19

@andrey-zhukov I see! I will try that trick and play again later! Thanks!

gbgames 2022-04-07 20:03

As everyone said, the art is very nice and stylized, and I found the various ailments to be quite humorous (kissing disease?).

Earlier on I was worried that I was going to inevitably run out of money, but once I discovered what each ingredient did and wasn't guessing at some anymore, I found that the challenge essentially disappeared. I healed 29 before I decided to stop because I realized I was doing so well that I was not having problems with money anymore. Maybe the ingredients could increase in price as you use them? Maybe the boot/mushroom especially since they have no side-effects, and so you're more inclined to use other ingredients to save money?

On the other hand, it was like a perpetual puzzle in which I could calmly figure out what combination of ingredients would counteract each other AND heal the patient. I could see it being featured in https://www.youtube.com/c/ChilledOutGames

zimny11 2022-04-07 22:22

Awesome game. Really fun to play. The art style is very nice. One complaint. The shop screen covers up the bobble image with diseases. Also, I was expecting that giving up on patients would have bigger consequences. That are minor things. The game is simply great.

P.S. Is the title a nod towards "Papers, Please"?

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-08 08:34

@gbgames You guessed right. The price increase for using the same ingredients was one of the mechanics we cut off in order to finish the project on time. And the balance has been simplified, too, so that players can enjoy gameplay during the LD review Thanks for the very detailed review of the game.

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-08 08:38

@zimny11 I put a passing reference in it that it sounded like "Kill Me, Please." But I didn't tell anyone that, and one of our developers thought it was a reference to "Paper Please" the whole time. So you're partly right :)

zimny11 2022-04-08 08:40

@andrey-zhukov Actually. "Kill me, Please" with similar mechanic to your game or to "Papers, Please", sounds really interesting :P

arzi 2022-04-08 08:47

It took me a bit to figure out how it works, but a really cool little puzzle game! Great art too!

simba 2022-04-09 16:23

I loved the art style you have going on! I had a lot of trouble figuring out your game. A tutorial, even a written one, would be an amazing addition to an otherwise super creative game!

ehon 2022-04-10 10:51

Wow, awesome game! As some people mentioned, a tutorial would be cool. It also crashed my graphic card apparently, not sure if it was a random issue or there is something with the web build that caused that? Otherwise, 5/5 entry for me :D

doot 2022-04-15 14:17

Really good idea and beautiful art!

As other said, it's quite cryptic at first without tutorial but it's very pleasant once you understand how the game works.

Nice job!

haayaargh 2022-04-19 14:23

Your game has a clear and simple concept and is well executed. It was clear from the beginning what I have to do, and in UI-heavy games, it isn't always obvious. I didn't understand everything; I don't know what this 5/5 or 8/8 meant? It is like health and reputation? It never dropped below 4/5.

I didn't feel the theme there, to be honest. Narratively you could say that they are sick so you delay their inevitable death, but there is nothing like this in the gameplay.

I can see a lot of potential there, given some upgrades and further development, so if this is what you want, then fingers crossed :fingers_crossed:

andrey-zhukov 2022-04-20 13:30

@haayaargh Thank you, that's really interesting and helpful feedback.

thecritterscove 2022-04-20 21:05

Really awesome job on the art! That must have taken a lot of time. I do like the concept, but once someone understands how to play and tests what does what, it becomes easy. Maybe a market with rotating goods could help? So the player would need to ration what ingredients to keep on hand. But ignoring that issue, it's a great jam entry. Nice job!
