The pixel art style and the music creates a mysterious and intriguing supernatural atmosphere. The town really seems to be shrouded in mystery and otherworldly elements, despite being that short, congrats!

Congrats for your first game. I like the art style. A small suggestion: it would be easier if the click position would be the stem of the leave and not the center.
Cool vibe. Love the art and the humour. AGS was my first entry too!
I was able to play it on my phone! :open_mouth:
Thank you so much for the feedback!
@mr-deku Haha, I'm glad I managed to create a somewhat coherent world. Thank you for the kind words!
@mar-zockmeister Thanks! I totally agree about the mouse cursor - felt myself it was a little off.
@adam-jewell Thank you! Yeah I was positively surprised how easy AGS was to use.
@thebooksnail That's great to hear! I had no idea if and how all my uploaded stuff would work. Guess I'm a mobile developer now lol =)
The atmosphere is great and I like that the game encourages you to make another try since on the first walkthrough I did complete the delivery to the *being* :) The dialogue is nice and art fits the atmosphere. But I got stuck on the quest line - how do I get the peppers? I click on them and our hero just states "Hot peppers". What can I do? Talking with the gardener doesn't give me peppers, and I tried talking to prisoner after this dialogue and I definitely don't have them ^^' I would really appreciate it if you gave me a tip so I can finish the game! Also, as others mentioned, cursor is a bit funky to get used to, but I really love how you made it unique.
I love the aesthetic of this game a lot! Fun to have a more narrative game jam game. My one suggestion would be to angle the leaf in the opposite direction and make the part where the "click" occurs the top left of the sprite, so that it follows the conventions of other cursors!
Nice game. Great art and sound. Controls were easy and they worked. I played through it a couple of times after my first play through since I didn't do anything correct and the spirit did it anyway (no spoilers). Only criticism would be, like other have mentioned, about the leaf. I had fun thanks.
Loved the dialogue! The ending made me legitimately sad. I too couldn't figure out how to grab the peppers, or get a hat, and would definitely play again if there's an alternate ending. Great job!
Cute game!
First off congrats on your first jam! That is a win on its own. I really like this art style, it fits the gameplay and story well. I was getting a little bit a jitter on a the character walk but it might have been from running it in the browser.
Even though you didn't make the music your selections really brought the whole game together!
Really nice game, the art is really good and the way the character and the screen move fits the mood well. I'm not sure if there are different endings or any secrets, but it would be nice if there were some.
Excellent for a first game. Very good vibe and cool story. As others have said you could flip your mouse pointer icon and make the point more obvious. Nice one :)
WOOT WOOT first jam! Heck ya :)
Welcome to the club of crazy game devs who love the punishment of stressing themselves out for a "fun weekend thing".
Things I liked: Fun dialogue and you managed to create a whole little town with some lore and everything! It functioned as expected, classic point and click style adventure.
Things to consider: Mouse cursor was deff wonky lol took me a hot minute to start the game. Some sort of indicator would be great to let you know if something is interactable, like a white outline that appears when you hover over things that are clickable.
Ultimately so stoked for you - hopefully get to see you grow at the next jam!!
Nice game reminded me of games like Freddy the Fish or Pajama sam, I loved the art and green blob character :) . I tried my best but I got a bad ending :'(. Good job!
First off, congratulations on completing your first game jam game and for doing it solo too! This was my first time making a game solo and I can now appreciate just how much more work there is to do.
I think you wisely chose a good-sized scope for your game that is relatively simple in terms of game mechanics, but allowed you to focus on the experience via your artwork and narrative which were both excellent. This town had a cohesive quirkiness to it that made it fun to speak with the locals and fit within the story.
I can see the delivery puzzle that appears to exist and presume it would result in a "good" ending, but unfortunately I was unable to figure out how to complete it. I suspect the first step was related to collecting the hot peppers, but the best I could seem to do is see the text box "hot peppers". Despite being unable to figure out how to achieve that, it was still a great experience and you should be proud of your first game jam game.
Nice to see a point and click adventure. Wasn't expecting the dark turn at the end, but I did like the art and sound. The selection point for the mouse pointer seemed to be in the middle of the leaf; moving it to the tip would make selecting things a bit easier. Also, maybe add a highlight to something that can be selected when the cursor passes over it.
Bonus points added for the herb puns
An excellent entry: well done!
Very cool that you were able to complete a game for a jam !
I think I would have improved movement speed a little, i felt a bit slow, And I also weren't able to properly do the side quests (I don't know if it is possible ?)
But the game has a nice atmosphere with interesting graphics, and having a coherent game cession without any blocking bugs and an easy restart button is pretty neat !
That was a cute lil adventure, I enjoyed talking to the characters, though I'm confused cuz I think I'm missing something.. The characters seem to give me quest lines, like bring me peppers, or a matching hat, or tell the troll to stop throwing rocks, and I know where all of these would be, but the dialogue options don't seem to change, and I can't interact with the characters in any different ways. Don't know if this is intended or I just didn't understand how to play xd Anyway, I really like the graphics and writing, nice first entry! I hope you'll come back for more ^^
This game looks beautiful, it has such a distinctive style, yet it also pays homage to all of the great retro point and click games. The mood was also weirdly melancholic, you managed to strike very enchanting atmosphere in a game where you basically walk from point A to point B, delivering some seemingly innocuous seeds in the process. The characters are quirky and endearing, I really liked how they would have something to say if you approached them close enough, a lovely little detail! The ending was a bit weird though. Without spoiling anything for future comment readers, I think it came out of nowhere and it was a big contrast compared to the rest of the game. But, such is life, I guess, one moment you are in a beautiful wonderland, the next one who knows where you might be. Lovely little project, good job on making it!
Congrats on finishing your first game! Shoutout to Cuddles' grandmother
I'm so thrilled to receive all these comments and congratulations and feedback. THANK YOU so much!
@kanity @afroant @josephldooley @bit-flipz @tomtomgome @fupi I hear ya about the endings / side quest! The truth is that I didn't have time to implement the "good ending". So I left these "objects" (peppers, etc) as just part of the environment, but did not have time to make them more meaningful. Ultimately, they ended up quite pointless for the submission - sorry for that!
@hcs-hades Haha thank you for the kind words! Totally agree about highlighting the interactables on mouse over, in fact I did try to figure out how to do this in AGS, but had to prioritize other things .p
@camden-obertop Thanks for pointing that out - it's obvious also from other comments that I really need to improve the mouse cursor. So this is my no.1 thing to fix.
@digital-bacon Glad to see the puns were not completely hated ;) I neither deny nor confirm that I might use puns in my next submissions as well.
@milano23 @oradimi @str8griz @team-gaivot @jasonsumm1 Thank you for the kind and constructive words! I'll try my best to return the favor and give feedback to your games as well!
@sodoj Thank you for the feedback, and especially the constructive parts, really appreciate it and agree that I could have packed in some more hints along the way. Tough balance there, to show or to tell -,-
@ollie-d Grandmothers rock! (or at least, they should!)
Awesome little point&click game ! Very enjoyable mood and the lore feel deep ! Congrats on your first game !
Cool to see an AGS game, it's been years since I've played one. I had no idea they worked in browsers now.
The cursor was a little difficult to use. I think if you mirrored it horizontally and move the actually clicking part more to the tip of the leaf, it would be a bit better. Also, it would be nice if the cursor could change colour, or get a different outline when hovering over a clickable hotspot. Or you could have a tooltip, or make the hotspot itself do something, just so there's some indication that clicking will trigger an interaction.
One of the characters gave me something, but I wasn't sure how to access my inventory and see it.
The perspective on the background was a little confusing. I wasn't sure if the brown lines were tree branches I was climbing or a path I was walking. Apart from that, I quite liked the style of the graphics and thought they suited the game well.
Overall a cute little game with an amusing story, though it does feel like it could have had a bit more content, maybe an additional ending. I'm sorry that my arrival led to the destruction of the town though. :p
Nice graphics and art. Love to see more narrative games. Here is one suggestion. The leaf cursor is too big which makes it hard to click or to select a dialog box, maybe consider making the leaf cursor smaller or make the tip of the leaf the cursor instead. All in all, it is a really good try. Congrats.
Hello fellow first-timer! I really like what you did with the worldbuilding and atmosphere. The story is solid and the ending really threw me for a loop (in a good way!). The villagers are fun and quirky and fill the world with life. Similar to above comments, for future games I'd suggest practical fixes, i. e. working on making the movement a bit smoother&faster (though it might have been bc i was running in browser?) and making it a bit clearer which parts of the environment can be interacted with. Hope you have fun creating more games in the future :)
Cool! Nice try! I like the atmosphere. Hope you have fun and willing to see your next game!
What a magical atmosphere you've created in your game! I like it very much! Thank you!
I love the art style of this game, and the mood is indeed magical, as others have pointed out here. Certainly no nerdrage on my part. Good job for your first entry. Hope to see more from you in future jams.
@hakro @shuimen @sayurinyooko @gamebuilder @lee-haochen Thank you!! :)
@david-yates I agree with everything you said! Thanks for taking the time to give feedback, it's very much appreciated. I really want to prepare and plan more for the next jam, and following all the feedback is a decent starting point. And yeah, AGS has a web port (Emscripten), and I was shocked when it literally worked after just following instructions I found in the thread. Especially because I basically didn't know what I was doing. Somebody even said they could play on mobile which was something I didn't even plan for :D Could it be... could it be magic...?! Haha.
@konfekt Thank you for the kind words, and for taking the time to play! I really need to rate your game + a few others before the time runs out here.
Nice little story. It had an unexpected ending. I concur with the cursor feedback. I managed to speak to the Gardener without seeing him at all, thought I was talking to the plants. The game could use some sound effects even if simple and few. I could imagine hearing some footsteps or perhaps a hiccup. What I heard from the music was pleasant but perhaps some option to tune it would have helped.
Good job, welcome to the jamming.
