@ausstein I left the hight score easy-ish to get so we can have a bit more fun ;) Also I for sure will play your game on stream!
I absolutely love the surfey music!! I think adding a bit more complexity to the game mechanics would make it more engaging and memorable. It's also a bit hard to read when enemies are "at" your depth and become interactive, so maybe a secondary indicator (like having them overshoot their scaling up to like 110%, at which point they become damageable, then they scale back down to 100% before they can damage you, or something simpler like set alpha to 0.5 until they're interactable). Nice job on this game! I appreciate the polish throughout, especially for things like having a leaderboard.
Tried a few times and couldn't get past 500ish. I just couldn't get used to the controls. That song bops though! Nice job!
OMG had so much fun dodging the shark lol. Great game!
Once again an awesome game! I only got to 746m so far but mark my words, I'll get that high score
The difficultly level to playtime ratio on this game is perfect! This one of those games I wanted to play several times. Online leader board as well?! I struggled the most with the pufferfish, always shooting at them right before they could be hit. I could never tell if it was just me or if the timing of when they became in focus was different from other enemies.
1708 Highscore is done!
The game is hard and fun. I like movement and overall idea with controls. Great job.
Nice.
Gamepad control is needed for this game. :video_game:
Good game, however turning feels kinda sluggish, good game overall
There we go!

Great game there @arthurds :D I would like to tryhard it and beat @stefan-laimer to it, but he's going to crush that leaderboard everytime... Great guitar solo btw :guitar: :guitar:
@cocapasteque Damn right I will :D

@ausstein @stefan-laimer oh ffs! I really fucked up by leaving this side hugging strat in. 5k? bloddy hell. I will give a serious attempt eventually. Didnt have much time to since was fixing bugs and today I streamed for 8 hours. Makes me happy to see you guys like the game so much!
Amazing and addictive game! The leaderboard for sure is a plus I should have in my game too! Well done my dude! *Tamo junto* :muscle:

Addicting! Rather simple concept yet very addicting - possibly thanks to the leaderboards which just push you to do better next time. The mood was great, the graphics and the music worked well together and it was like... music to my ears? The one thing I struggled with a bit was telling when the different types of fish were finished spawning, ready to get hit. Looking forward to grinding my score a bit more later tonight!
very addictive and will be competiting on that leaderboard later for a top 10 position
@arthurds Yeah, the side hugging strat is pretty good :D
Pretty fun little game! I like it when you have something with just a few simple buttons, but it's a challenge to master it.
Thanks for bringing your game by my stream Monday night to check out! If you'd like to watch me play again you can find the highlight at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1005053842
COULD NOT GET PAST THAT 500 MARK!!! was a fun game with a scoreboard to add a competative edge to it. Really good fun. the Art and feel of that 60's vibe was spot on
the game was really fun, i think that the mechanic of turning the cannon is definetely useful but i coudn't get used to it.. also, for going backward, it felt intuitive, if i wanted to keep rotating in the same direction, to switch from A to D and viceversa like you would with a car lol, but instead it wasn't like that
But that's just me not getting used to the controls
Great game!!
This game is no joke really addicting. I won't lie. The whole idea and leaderboard thing could have me playing for hours! Good job!
Pomo!!!!! Ahhhh so fun, so addicting I wouldve played this for an hour if i had the time today!
Doing what I can to destroy the ecosystem.

I had a lot more fun with this game than I originally expected. When I opened it up, it took me a few runs to wrap my mind around how to move and aim at the same time, but after a few rounds, I felt like a master whenever I managed to snipe a squid across the screen. So yeah, a few rounds in and I felt like the best Deep Sea Trip player in the world!
Then I saw the leaderboards and I was like "meep". Some people here were very, *very* dedicated to achieve highscores. A good sign of a good game, if you ask me.
So yeah, at some point I hopped into Easy mode to play leasurely and see what else was there to see. So, top points for having a variety of enemies with different behaviors yet predictable patterns, which kept the game fresh and never unfair. And the thing past 1000 meters below? A genuine good surprise!
Also, I happen to be a sucker for beach-like music.
Great game! It's a very lit artillery game with movement and a good variety of enemies to keep one on their toes!
I also want to take this opportunity to thank you again for playing our game that much last time. Your highscore will be my wallpaper until LD period is over
Anyhow, keep enjoying the jam! Lots of creative, fantastic games out there! :whale:
I managed to get to 1000 on Baby Octopus mode, and promptly died haha! Here is the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1003973156
Cute jam guys, great art, very suiting music. Good job!
This game was a blast! Like you saw on stream, I actually didn't know you could turn your turret for a while, although I did manage 830m with just that technique.
I initially thought I could just turtle in the corner since it would mean I only needed to turn 90 degrees. Outside of having to dodge occasionally, this worked out well. The problem is that hitting enemies far away is quite difficult doing that, and missing shots vs a squid will definitely ruin your day.
It's fun when it gets super hectic and your goal is just to run around in circles collecting as much score as possible before you die. I really enjoyed this game and the leaderboard was a great addition!
This game is bloody hard, I won't make it into the leaderboard with my vulgar name. The coordination between left and right hand is tricky. The hit boxes are a little unclear by times. The enemies look and behave different. It was really intense and I might have used some swearwords a few times. Nice job!
Hey matey, thanks for submitting your game to stream! I enjoyed playing it, here's the vod, I hope the feedback helps!

This makes me want to eat more sushi just to get revenge on those fishes! Very cool game. I enjoyed playing it several times. The graphics are clear and fit the game very well. There are various sometimes hard, but fair mechanics. The music fits well and isn't too tiring. My only wish is that the sub could turn a little bit faster. Overall a great game, that I recommend everyone plays!
Here's my playthrough: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1007430228?t=1h5m16s
Haven't seen this idea done before, pretty rad game!
The skill ceiling is so high on this game, I felt that I got better during my time with it but I could improve so much more. Nice job!
We played the game on the [stream](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1007202934?t=01h12m57s) and while my GF had the hard time with inputs, I had a lot of fun playing it. I have no idea how the guys got so many points in leaderboard, but I will definitely beat this one! (someday)
Surfer rockin' arcade shoot em (and avoid em!) up that packs a fishy punch!
What a really fun deep sea dive shooter! Love the art and really dig the music. It's fun and fast and really matches the arcadey action that is being presented.
The enemies are really well designed, nice bold colours and recognisable shapes help you quickly identify what you're going to encounter once you've learnt their patterns. Hit boxes on the enemies could perhaps be adjusted but it might be down to our missile being quite small, a smidgen bit bigger might make the game easier overall but it could make it more enjoyable/accessible too so it's a tricky balance.
Movement of the sub is a tricky one, you want something that doesn't mean you're zip zooming around able to avoid everything in sight but also not so much you feel like you're steering a barge/or big ol navy boat. I think what you have currently is great, but maybe some tweaking could be done to just give you just a smidgen more control. Again, it's a tricky balance so if it's the right sort of control you want to give the player then that's the intended play experience!
Overall a really fun rockin arcade game that has a very "one more run" feel! Would be quite the quarter muncher on an arcade (which I would love to imagine as being one of those biiiiiiig ol chunky beasts where you sit in an actual sub haha!)
Great entry and good job to your team!
Awesome game!Really fun :)
[Thanks for submitting your game to the stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1006873415?t=00h30m06s)
Glad we were able to crack the top 10 (for however briefly, I'm sure).
This game was a lot of fun. It was surprising how much being able to move your sub and turret simultaneously added to the complexity. I still maintain that the swordfish were a liiiiiiiittle too thin to be fair, but maybe I just suck. :stuck_out_tongue:
Since you asked for a Youtube Video under my Post,
here are some Record attempts Including a PB ;)

@ausstein Thats super cool man! Also I did make a patch for the game! Made it easier to see when enemies are vulnerable when spawning and FIXED THE FLIPPING SHARK!!!!
@arthurds new version is soooo much easier Record on the first attempt @stefan-laimer

I also recorded it but uploading takes time

"Pomo Makes An Entertaining Jam Entry" (Always Sunny Intro). This was a lot of fun man, super simple and enjoyable. All the pieces were put together well! fun to play and watch other people panic under pressure lol. Great work team!
Thank you for letting me play your game on stream! [Here's that clip.](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1007876502?t=2h19m33s) I seem to concur with everyone else--love the beachy/groovy music and mood, appreciate the large leaderboard (even though easy mode is much more my speed), and would like more indication when the enemies are hittable (though I know you changed it after I played, I'd still have some issues with just the blur amount changing as it seems to in other play clips -- because who has consistently sharp vision? not me). I found myself failing to hit and therefore re-aiming just to miss the fish when they were able to be hit. Otherwise, as you saw on stream, I had a tiny misread of the menu thinking that I would toggle the modes with the button below Play instead of directly jumping into the game on easy mode, but altogether this is fun and functional. I didn't get far enough to encounter any bugs, just fish and a whole lot of the whirlpool sides. Great job on the jam!
Nice work! The controls felt much more intuitive than I initially feared; I liked that the enemies had quite generous hitboxes so even if my aiming was perfect, I could get somewhere. Moving the submarine felt definitely a bit slow once the enemies started piling up more, though, so ultimately I think the game could benefit from mouse aiming. Nevertheless, it was good fun!
Hello! Your game was played on stream ( https://www.twitch.tv/ursagames/videos ) on 5/05 (Day 3 of LDJAM streams).

The online leaderboard is a great idea. I had a lot of fun competing with a friend. It took me a few rounds to get familiar with the controls. The music is also spot on, great job!
Deep Sea Trip.... What can I say? The difficulty is tuned just right for those challenge seekers hunting for the top spot on the leaderboard. The music? Super fitting to the hectic gameplay. Enemy variety? CHECK. Art is fantastic as well. Honestly one of the few games I've found myself truly pursuing the high score outside of the keyboard cowboys haha. Great game!
BTW... Went ahead and took that top spot for myself - NickPea&theBean Capture.PNG
@ausstein @stefan-laimer just wanted to give a quick FYI of the comment above
ffs...
It looks very interesting. I like games about the sea and its inhabitants. Recently I was in Montenegro and scuba-dived, it was very exciting! I saw a stingray fish. It seemed huge to me. It took me several days to get there. First, I drove by car. Then, I took the trains from the Czech Republic ( I booked tickets on https://www.dbauskunft.com/de/ if anyone wants information). It turned out to be not only a sea trip, but also a trip around Europe. Does anyone have any games about this?
