LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Boombox by auxC 2021-04-30T15:20:38Z

Probably one of the better games I've played this jam! The different types of chests/boxes were a nice touch, the music - especially the percussion, added a nice bit of suspense. The controls were smooth. The moving keys in hard difficulty went a bit too quick for me at first but I managed to get used to them. Curious to see what else you'd be able to do with this concept. Highly addicting!

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-28T04:02:26Z

This was AMAZING. The graphics, the gameplay, the dragon, the dialogue. I loved every part of it. I don't usually give out full star reviews cause that means it's peak performance and I won't ever be able to rate anything higher, but this deserves it. 11/10 would play again.

The Bottom of the Snow by Enver Arco 2021-04-28T15:09:25Z

Took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to do but when I got there I had a fun little run with the game. I loved the seal, they're now my best friend and will never be replaced. Unfortunately I couldn't find any fish and kept dying at some point, was I unlucky or just a bad player?

+ Seal + Survival aspects + Limited maps (I dislike getting lost on huge maps) + Audio effects were great + The combination of gameplay, audio effects and graphics set a nice mood.

- The survival aspects were a bit confusing at first

Aye! Aye! Captain! by Lumous 2021-04-29T05:27:09Z

Just gave this game a run and it was a fun little experience.

+ Blobfish escort + Blobfish upside down + Blobfish yeeted me + Blobfish in general + Controls felt smooth + The soundtrack used was fitting + The anglerfish were a fun concept

I definitely would be interested in another version with some more information regarding the areas. Could totally imagine some narrative about the different types of fish, plants and just the ocean in general!

Deepest Dungeon by Andreadbx 2021-04-28T14:29:59Z

+ Absolutely lovely graphics + Atmosphere was really well done + Different enemy types was interesting + Different abilities + Gave me some old-school Diablo vibes

- Animations are slow - The aoe from the magic enemies felt HUGE

Thank you for your entry, would definitely enjoy getting back to this if/when you manage to tweak things a little!

Cart go brrr by Sapazu 2021-04-28T13:56:08Z

The opening screen was genius, loved in!

The graphics were simple, and pleasing, as were the mechanics. I had a blast trying to improve the distance I made the previous round and ended up playing the game repetitively for quite a bit. Killing bat-sounds was a bit too loud for my liking.

Thanks for your entry!

Snake Oil by OrdiNeu 2021-04-28T14:58:11Z

Cute game! I really loved the different characters. The slots game was interesting and even though it was just a matter of clicking some buttons, I quickly got addicted to it hehe. It was satisfying watching the points you'd score grow as you got more and more upgrades. Some feedback to show how much credibility you lose would be a nice addition, but I'm pretty confident you already considered that hehe.

If you're going to continue working on this, I'm curious to see what improvements and/or variations you might be able to come up with. Thanks for the entry!

Tap Trick by Salman_Shh 2021-04-28T14:41:18Z

Amazing visuals, I loved the presentation. Gameplay was smooth and felt satisfying. Sound effects, absolutely loved them. The one downside was that for my slow brain, the levels went a bit too quick to find out/learn the path to get all the hoops/coins. All in all, great submission though! Thanks for entering!

Sheltered Deep by ThorPalsson 2021-04-27T16:22:26Z

Interesting game! I really enjoyed the vibe the moment I spawned inside the shelter, even though it did take me quite a while to realize there were doors which I could actually open. The atmosphere was suspenseful and when I ran into a first enemy it spooked me quite a bit. Got lost in an underground shelter with potato people, quite an experience! Highlights for me were the graphics and the dialogue!

Chicken Robot on Mars by Koroshi 2021-04-30T14:40:13Z

Cool little twin stick shooter-like game! The controls were smooth and I appreciated the sound effects, they worked well with the graphics you've used. The falling section felt really unfair however, with no indication of what was going on or - enough time to react. While I wanted to try and get further into the game, I felt like the falling section was too much of a trial and error rather than a segment that involved skills/something I could get better at.

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-04-28T05:12:34Z

@ismael-rodriguez Thanks for the response! It might have been me who designed the levels and I must admit; I am a fan of hard 2d platformers and might have gotten lost on the part where not everybody has that experience hehe. While we obviously want people to try and rate the original release for testing/rating purposes, if you ever feel like giving the game another go, we have already released a first post-jam release version with nerfed levels (especially world 3, after which the difficulty goes down by a whole notch). Either way, once again thanks for the comment, highly appreciated!

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-04-28T19:46:39Z

@notpresident35 I'm glad to hear that, even when pointing out the difficulty! It was a hard challenge to make a decent amount of levels in the limited time we had. If we ever decide to release a bigger version of the game anywhere, I'll definitely take into account all the feedback I've received and build in multiple difficulty modes. Thanks for playing!

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-04-29T03:58:56Z

@chris1919 Thanks for playing! I believe (judging by the gap you mentioned) you have played the jam release and we appreciate you rating us based on that! We did however find out that some things are simply a bit harder than intended on our already punishing game so if you do ever feel like giving it a second go I could recommend the post-jam release! It's basically the same, just some levels were slightly nerfed (including the gap in the key levels). Enjoy! ♡

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-04-29T05:48:24Z

@peace-of-cake-games Thanks for playing!

118 deaths over 51 minutes actually seems like around the average of... people who have actually beaten the game! (Their first run that is haha) I'm glad you enjoyed it! If you happen to revisit it, let us know what your best time is :D

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-04-29T10:07:33Z

@jesterseraph Hey there! Thank you for taking the time to watch our game from the side! I was wondering, if I may ask (not meant to be intrusive and you're in no way obliged to answer); would there be any alternative methods that would allow you to try the game yourself? I personally am a fan of accessibility and if there is any option to allow people to play the game when they otherwise couldn't, I'd love to take a look at what we could potentially do! I'd love for you to experience the game as well, if that's possible in any way.

Nonetheless, thanks for the feedback, we highly appreciate it!

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-05-03T22:41:57Z

Quick update from me as one of the devs:

I would've loved to reply and comment to pretty much all of the comments in here, but unfortunately right after the games jam ended, life moved on again! Busy times while also recovering from the intense weekend AND testing other LD games left me with little to no energy to actually reply. I did read literally every single comment and I appreciate all the input we've been getting; I'm going to take the feedback we've received through this channel to see what we can do to do even better in a potential full game.

Thank you all for your time and most of all; thanks for playing!

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-05-05T01:01:39Z

@candlelight I saw you updated your comment with an improved time! That's going pretty well it seems! I'm especially flattered that you decided to give our game a full second playthrough, much amaze  Are you aiming for a specific goal or are you satisfied with your current time?

@kaminos Thank you for the amazing comment! First of all, I'm really glad that you enjoyed our game this much. But on top of that, I'm so grateful for comments like these as they are straight up encouragement and motivation for our team to see where this could go. Thank you so much! EDIT: I totally didn't notice the nickname there, whoops! I just realized we've met in Twitch chats multiple times! Now, realizing you've worked on Crust (a game that our team absolutely loved, and I believe might have been the first game one of our teammembers actually shared on our discord for others to play) I'm even more flattered by this comment

Oh and by the way, for the two of you- and basically anyone else who is interested; we've now got a community discord (we're still working on building it up but we'll get there!) You're free to join by clicking [here](https://discord.gg/hfWDz7rzUT). We're hosting our speedrunning competition there, but it's also the easiest way to stay involved with updates and possible announcements!

Deep Sea Trip by Pomo 2021-04-28T13:19:15Z

Addicting! Rather simple concept yet very addicting - possibly thanks to the leaderboards which just push you to do better next time. The mood was great, the graphics and the music worked well together and it was like... music to my ears? The one thing I struggled with a bit was telling when the different types of fish were finished spawning, ready to get hit. Looking forward to grinding my score a bit more later tonight!

Hellevator by baconn00 2021-04-28T02:43:05Z

Lovely game! One of those games I'll gladly open up during a break to see how far I get. Straight forward, slightly challenging and fit the theme. Well done!

Captain Zapdash by Nazorus 2021-04-28T14:05:02Z

Game name checks out!

I think I'm addicted, would like to see more variations to the levels! The graphics were actually amazing, I'd say and the gameplay felt amazingly smooth. Was I supposed to drop down a lot of depth upon getting hit by an obstacle btw? Anyway, would play again!

Game-ception by Herbyvor 2021-04-30T14:58:03Z

I liked the idea of multiple layers of levels, quite innovative (based on my own experience!) The level design felt a bit unfair at times, sometimes I fell down and lived; felt like a safety net, just to find that there was no way back up - I literally would have to walk into spikes or wait for the timer to run out to continue on a lower layer. I adored the "Warning signs" that indicated the arrow shooters. The controls/jump felt smooth, but I did notice that sometimes I was unable to jump upon landing cause I'd have a little bit of a bounce rather than immediately hitting the ground.

Thanks for submitting your entry!

Elemantic by nohac 2021-04-28T14:21:31Z

Overall an enjoyable game!

+ Cute, funny graphics + Different enemies with different mechanics + An obvious combat-counter system most people will recognize nowadays (and otherwise; quick to learn in the first area). + Interesting concept where you can combine buffs into a stronger buff + Controls were easy to use (even though shooting with mouse would've been a nice addition!)

- Audio was a bit repetitive - At some point I was under attack near the entry of an area, accidentally walked into it, and ended up back at the ENTRY of the previous area. Felt like a big setback.

? Balance seemed a little bit off, but was definitely not a dealbreaker to me!

Thank you for your entry!

Never Ending Cave by Tudypie 2021-04-27T18:55:53Z

I enjoyed this! The graphics were nice, had me immerse in the game from the beginning. The sound effects were top-notch, especially the elevator sounds, I thought they were so nerve-wrecking. I've tried a couple of other horror games from this jam and this one is the first one that had me at the edge of my seat, especially after I encountered the monster for the first time. Gameplay wasn't necessarily innovating, but great vibes, great setting, and surprisingly intense. Curious to find out how the game would proceed from here!

Surface Level by javi7 2021-05-01T05:47:03Z

Enjoyable game, highly addictive - simple, smooth controls and a challenge. I felt like every single time I went through a run, I was getting better, but my score highly disagreed. My favorite part is when I activated introvert mode and just didn't have any customers at all hehe Cute graphics (I love myself some pico 8), catchy audio and a high score system are my favorites in this entry!Wherethemcustomersat.JPG

Low Notes by mhorth 2021-04-27T19:27:39Z

Most unique take on the theme I've seen so far. I love myself some rhythm games and would definitely like to play this some more if more songs were ever added! The one issue I found is that, at times, I had a hard time seeing which notes would be coming in first, besides that, a fun quick playthrough and it made me want to re-do tracks to do better the second time

Deeply Dazed by HangerGames 2021-04-27T19:12:34Z

Unique game! The visuals were really pleasing and soothing to the eyes. The puzzles were interesting but as mentioned before; whenever I got stuck I would just randomly try out different values till I got it right - a sliders that forces people to actually find the right values themselves could potentially fix this? Either way, I enjoyed the game quite a bit and it was a refreshing change from the other games I played so far, a much appreciated change. Keep it up, looking forward to more content like this in the future!

Roots game by BoClow 2021-04-28T13:50:51Z

Sweet and relaxing game. I could totally imagine an added leaderboard to this eventually. Kind of a zen experience right here and I'd gladly play it again!

Crash Falling by SirMilkman 2021-04-27T16:26:42Z

My type of game! It's simple, but it's one of these games I'd just like to open for a couple of minutes during a break to try and get a new high score. The graphics are minimalistic, and I really appreciated them. The lines in the background really gave me a sense of falling down the entire time. You know it's a decent+ game when you die and you just don't want to quit as you want to do better than your previous run. Thanks for making this!

Hyperball Tachyon by RendahGames 2021-04-27T19:46:33Z

I must say, this was surprisingly fun! Especially thanks to the bounce mechanic and the level design - which had a nice curve and was challenging in the right ways. Besides the glitchniness and the somewhat wonky controls, I feel like this could be quite an awesome game, especially with your level designs!

I did need some time to realize that "bouncing up" is now done through pressing x and not by holding up as the game told me to :D

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Strata by Skyeward 2022-04-06T13:32:35Z

Lovely entry!

Had a lot of fun playing this. Everything just seems so polished from the tile wiggles, to the roguelite elements, to the animations, to the graphics. I'm utterly impressed. I loved the different enemy types. Immediately recommended the game to some of my friends haha.

Oh, I'm not sure if it was me, but I DID feel like some of the 2nd layer's enemies would hit me while I was behind them. < Only critique I have, everything else was top-notch! Looking forward to your entry the next jam!

Baking Simulator 2022 by Sarah 2022-04-08T01:51:20Z

Fun submission!

The humor was there, the zoom function was a great smart addition and the graphics were minimalistic, clear, and cute! The colours you used are so soothing!

Stallar by Wendel Scardua 2022-04-06T01:41:03Z

I love how you made a NES game, I'd love to play it on the NES just for the sake of it haha.

I actually had to come back to change some of my ratings cause I was thinking some more and realised how good you actually stuck to the theme.... Beating the game is inevitable.... but you can delay it... Genius take, I love i!

Return to the Glade in the Sky by AdroitConceptions 2022-04-06T00:35:25Z

I loved this game - what a unique experience. I'd love to see more of this! The audio was a bit stale, but it didn't bother me at all. I loved the starry background and the way the bridges came together! Simple little platforming puzzles in an isometric world. Really intriguing, please make more content! :D

The Lars Mission by Honest Dan 2022-04-08T00:33:10Z

Amazing game!

Had the pleasure to finally play it early today and I'm glad I did!

**THINGS I LIKED:** - The audio, it was amazing, the intensity, it felt so hectic and I was just Kreying my gasms while pogging my champs. - The different "minigames", nice variety and not too easy at all! I loved the missile thing with the coordinates, great concept! - The lizard. I love them. - The main menu, both the button feedback AND the little dudes on the background. - I liked the 5/5 goal rather than running a timer.

Top notch submission! Had a good time playing it!

Ydunian Prune by MateusBoga 2022-04-10T21:25:04Z

I was addicted to clicker games but got over it. Now I'm addicted again!

Dig Dig Joy by Nyunesu 2022-04-08T00:34:50Z

Cute little game, addictive too!

**THINGS I LIKED:**

- The graphics. I loved especially the cute pixelated playable character. The particles were nice too! - The simplicity. Easy to figure out. - The different upgrades. - The way enemies worked. - Leaderboards.

Thank you for the submission!

Night Frights by TheInkSkeleton 2022-04-16T14:24:49Z

I'm just going to tell you straight up; I'm usually a horror game viewer, not a player, but I sure did enjoy this game. Even though the controls were easy (very responsive btw!), the mechanics with the different monsters were interesting. Gave me a couple of good scares!

You did a great job setting up the mood. Great submission!

Pig-ment: Eat n Die by AguaHervida 2022-04-05T17:30:20Z

Very cutesy game!

I hope I understood everything right cause I'd been quite confused but I believe I figured it out haha. + I like the mechanic where you shrink in size as you go, using this to get through smaller gaps, then picking up collectables in order to grow again (and thus delay the inevitable?). + The graphics are insanely cute, well done in a pico8 context. I was able to make out the differences between objects without any issues. + Controls feel responsive. + Game is straightforward and it's clear what your objective is.

- For the first while I had no idea that I could move to other screens, so I got stuck for quite a bit trying to make myself small enough to go through the crops at the starting screen. - The restart button doesn't seem to work, I had to restart the game every time I lost.

I did find that I was able to go off the screen on the left side and just walk around the water to victory, so I did win the game!

Seed Of Time by theStoff 2022-04-05T17:45:56Z

Great entry!

I love myself some twin stick shooters, this is my kind of jam! I feel like it's somewhat difficult, especially when I lose half my lives by accidentally dashing out of bubbles or missing what feels like really close dash-distances. HOWEVER, I love the challenge in that!

At first I didn't realise the black stuff on the floor was damaging me, I thought I was running into some sort of bug and I just couldn't figure out what was hitting me. Took me a while!

**JAM VERSION NOTES**

PRO(S): + Amazing. STUNNING, art (This includes sprites, animations, everything) + Responsive, TOP-NOTCH, controls + Soundtrack is AN ABSOLUTE BANGER. + Different enemy types

CON(S): - For some dashes it felt like I'd have to be precisely on the edge/walking into the border in order to make them. - Sometimes when I entered a bubble I'd wait for it to shoot me manually, decide it takes too long and tried to active the dash myself while at the same time I'm manually shot, causing me to immediately leave the bubble. I think maybe a slight cooldown would be neat there! (Even if it's just 10-15 frames or so).

Extremely Exteme Sports by kuviman 2022-04-05T11:57:33Z

I LOVED this! The graphics, the audio, it's so bad it became good and I love it and I can't help but score you highly there LOL. The gameplay is addicting, fun, responsible and the highscore addition has me addicted to trying more and more. Unfortunately I had to play by myself, will co-dev if she'll play with me some more tonight. Lovely submission Kuvi!

Walterfall by Ulisses 2022-04-15T17:37:06Z

Hiii!

Thank you for the submission.

Cute art, fitting soundtrack (even though audio is not part of your categories, it does help set the mood, good job!), responsive controls and a somewhat addicting score chaser. I could see this working really well as a mobile game. Walterfall.PNG

I was chilling in my top left corner when out of nowhere it said game over, sadly. My fingers were tired of spamming mouseclicks at this point, I might try again later!

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-21T14:51:28Z

Finally got around to playing the game! Aesthetically perfect, mood is just perfect! The gameplay was enjoyable, albeit at some point I was just randomly trying out routes rather than trying to "puzzle" my way to beating things, not sure if that's the gameplay you intended! The map was a nice touch, I still managed to get lost all the time, though :D Thank you for the submission and good luck tonight!

Horde of Methuselah by mrjeremy 2022-04-06T00:24:47Z

Lovely entry!

It took me a while to get the right start going, but it was worth the trial and error and once I got there... FINALLY!

I'm looking forward to what else you could do with the concept, I think you have a pretty neat start here!

Cat in the Bag by JoshH 2022-04-11T14:00:46Z

Lovely submission! I've never seen something like this before and I liked the idea of the cat in the bag dealing with handing out the right items, smart design there! An incredible take on the theme, different than what seems to be the majority during this game jam - which adds to the innovation in this game. The audio kept the adventurous mood going which added to the nice aesthetics of adventuring (which I was suppose you were going for!)

All in all, it was a fun playthrough and a pleasant surprise!

Inevitable Slap by Jacinto Mba 2022-04-05T18:08:11Z

I LOVED this concept. (Also, I like how it's based on an actuality without picking sides)

Music's chill, graphics are just good enough, the physics are not perfect which makes them more enjoyable and suiting to the models. I would like to see bigger levels, perhaps variations, obstacles, I think there is actually quite some potential with this concept!

By the way, I tipped over a statue, moved it in front of Bill, stood in front of the statue, left to watch a movie. When I came back 2 hours later, Bill was still walking into the statue. Love it.

We Need To Talk by Doot 2022-04-05T20:35:28Z

Great entry! One of my favourites so far!

**PROS:** - Sort of a typing game. - Great visuals. - Very responsive controls with amazing user feedback. - I felt the intensity grow as the speech balloon got bigger. - I loved the "dialogue".

I'd usually add a cons list too but I honestly can't think of anything that's different than "Would've loved more content!" which is obviously not the most fair con to add as a gamesjam review :hearts:

Carpe Diem by Pomo 2022-04-05T12:06:31Z

Loving the aesthetics! Controls are responsive, the graphics are intriguing and it's generally an addicting game. The difference in themes throughout the "levels" was cool too. The game I never knew I needed. The LD page seems to be missing some text, however? "The game has an online leaderboard, so do your best! But beware, you are only eligeble to enter if you use the"

Cyber Skater by Syafire 2022-04-14T10:39:28Z

Hello!

This game was surprisingly addictive. Surprising amount of art throughout the level with faux colliders (I just went around them through automatism and it was only when I got to my 3rd playthrough where I noticed most objects don't have any collision LOL. I still went around them, nonetheless.) The UI looks great! The upgrades in the shop seemed rewarding and were worth grinding for, killing the aliens quicker felt really satisfying with the new upgrades. The audio did get a little stale after a while but it didn't quite take away from the sheer amount of willpower I needed to buy the last shop upgrade.

I'm sad my run died to an alien munching me from basically across the screen LOL (Exaggeration).

Thank you for the submission!

The aliens have grown S T R O N G E R.

STAY by etrealjunior 2022-04-05T20:50:12Z

Lovely entry!

I absolutely LOVED the graphics. The different gamestyles were interesting and a nice change of pace. Overall, I think this is a really strong entry!

Inevitable by MatchaMaze 2022-04-06T19:09:19Z

This game is an intense mood which I think a lot of people who have struggled with these things can relate to.

The visual representation with the looming thoughts that pop up all the time feels insanely accurate, and together with the music and sound effects, it set the mood for what you tried to do here perfectly. To me, this was perhaps the most innovative 'game' this jam. Thanks for sharing!

NOT YET by TheGreenWorm 2022-04-15T10:02:46Z

Great submission!

The audio was engaging/intense which fit really well with the gameplay/graphics/mood. I loved the different boss art for each stage. The different segments were unique and it was fun to learn them as I went through them.

Ctrl + W is the "Open bookmark" shortcut on Microsoft Edge, which was a struggle LOL Perhaps something to keep in mind for future games when picking the controls :D

You Are A Bomb by Benjamin Halko 2022-04-08T00:20:56Z

Lovely little game!

I love the simplicity in art, music AND gameplay. It's highly addictive! Innovative concept with smooth and response controls. I'm not sure if the level was randomly generated? Let me know! I didn't quite pay attention to that part haha. I loved how the bomb actually blow up the stage rather than just themselves, great little touch!

Thanks for sharing this game!! <3

Definitely not Titanic by Charles Viau 2022-04-06T01:36:22Z

Lovely entry!

I really liked the simplicity of the graphics, and the cutscenes too. Adorable. The voxel style was just amusing to me, loved it! I did like the ratio of barrels vs hole as the game went on, as I feel like the game might've become stale if it went on for much longer, this felt like the perfect duration of a single round! Could imagine adding increasingly harder mechanics and/or a score system or something! Thanks for submitting!

Future me problem by noskro 2022-04-05T12:22:24Z

Enjoyable little game! Loved the physics and trying to get a perfect stack without letting my pile drop was INCREDIBLY ADDICTING. 9/10 would play again. Audio was ambient too!

When I was in full screen mode, the button barely fit in the screen though, not sure if that was an issue or my end or a common thing!

Wormageddon by MatterLinx 2022-04-05T19:53:30Z

This is literally a hidden gem, absolutely LOVE it. Need to return to this when I've had enough of rating games haha. Definitely a 5/5 for fun, among others!

**PROS:** - Graphics are just so simplistic yet so great, the way everything is animated is just perfection too. I was easily able to read the enemy attacks through their animations. - The roguelite elements are diverse and a great addition. - The different attack patterns for the bosses, hell yeah!

**CONS:** - I couldn't buy this on steam.

HANG UP! by Jesse J. Jones 2022-04-05T20:14:00Z

I just saw the game on another LDers stream and immediately decided to give it a go - no regrets!

**PROS:** - The graphics are awesome. - I loved especially the sound effects. - Typing games? Hell yes!

**CONS:** - No in-game score counter from what I could tell. - The game gets a little stale at some point.

My bar was still completely full but I was getting a bit bored (Sorry!) after about 10-15 minutes in, so I let the bar run out. Nonetheless, still some of the most fun I've had on an LD game so far! Thank you for this wonderful submission!!

HANG UP! by Jesse J. Jones 2022-04-06T14:26:07Z

@kylazaur Haha, it wasn't a problem at all! It was greatly enjoyable, one of my favourites this jam! Will follow your team, looking forward to your next games!

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-04T21:28:26Z

@ludumdaredevil Oh! I should be on Unpublished for now! Hmmm. Well, it's not quiiiiiite ready yet, but once it is, I'll personally tag you! Thanks for stopping by <3

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-05T00:15:10Z

@ludumdaredevil It's released! HAVE FUN BESTIE!

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-05T01:46:38Z

@mavvy Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Did you end up beating the entire game? And if yes, did you google the little giraffe fact? Asking for a friend!

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-05T02:05:53Z

@ludumdaredevil Thank you! I know you've been reading our posts, I hope it was worth the wait haha

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-05T15:52:02Z

@weirdybeardyman Thank you for the comment! Much appreciated! For the Carl level, hanging doesn't regain your dash/jumps, I might look into a way to make this clearer though! Either way, all obstacles on these levels are made to require a specific single/double/dash/ledge jump order to get through the platforming sections :D I tried to not reuse the same order in a single level. If you ever go back to it, I hope you'll be able to figure it out! You were so close to beating it :D

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-05T22:26:36Z

@learus To put it easy; I've been joking about making a giraffe game since LD48 and as a meme I posted on the LD feed, before the event began, that I would make a giraffe game no matter what the theme would be. Fast forward to 3am my time Saturday morning as the event begun. Barely awake, on just a can of energy drink, and that's as far as my answer goes. I don't quite remember how this happened. :D

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll be dropping additional content as post-jam stuff over the next weeks, levels, music, and mechanics mostly. Just thought I'd let you know in case you're hyped to have more content!

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-06T03:42:53Z

@zwodahs Thank you <3 For that segment, I believe you'll want to walk off, dash to the right, then jump up! Maybe that helps :D

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-06T17:15:58Z

@leiv-erik Thank you for the comment!

The dash thing, that's weird, haven't encountered it before! Do you have any info on what platform/browser you played it on? Would like to check into it :D

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-06T18:04:36Z

@leiv-erik I see! That's an interesting issue haha. I'ma try and look into replicating it. Thanks for letting me know!

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-06T20:32:05Z

@ocwal Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it!

If you're interested in moving on (you totally should, the 3rd world has a banger of a soundtrack!) you could always just go back to the actual main menu, and then "Continue Game" :D Unfortunately, I forgot that the escape button in webplayer would minimize it so the options screen won't open on the webplayer - you should be able to refresh however, save files should still be working! Then, if you get in this situation again; you can still get back to the lowest floating platform to the left, just a short jump into a dash and you'll be there :D Good luck! Also, thank you for playing <3

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-06T20:52:44Z

@javve Thank you so much! Hah the amount of game, we pumped out content like crazy! It was worth it <3

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-06T21:59:36Z

@papabirb I'm so glad you got to play it! :D For the part where you got stuck; ledge hang doesn't refresh double jumps/dash, it's more of a wall-hang than anything else. The trick is to jump once from the right side, dash into the ledge grab and then you'll still have your ledge jump AND your air-jump left :D

As for the pause problem, I haven't seen nor heard this one before! I see you were playing the web version, what browser did you use? :o

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-06T22:45:10Z

@renge Glad you liked the art! No worries, we also thought it was a pony at first, even the dialogue thinks it's a pony :D

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-07T13:25:43Z

@alexrose Thank you! ♡ The original plan was to have 3-4 levels for each dialogue but time constraints :( Glad you did still enjoy it though!!

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-07T13:37:31Z

@alexrose Haha that's true but that would imply we didn't have a bunch of extra mechanics we wanted to put in there :D I HAD SO MUCH PLANS (moving (ledge bite) platforms, keys, buttons, conveyor belts, more enemies, portals, bouncy pads, jump refreshers, time rewind, the list goes in haha) but that's part of the challenge, setting the right scope :D

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-07T14:19:31Z

@xeke-death Thank you so much! I'm not sure if you ended up playing on stream, I was lurking but had to leave for work eventually! Will def check out the vod if you did :D

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-10T08:17:16Z

@agrimes Oops, sorry! The future patch will be adding a "YOU HAVE GAINED DASH" pop-up there, something you can't just skip :) But yea, you get a dash there (shift/alt or east button on gamepad). If you feel like giving it another go; it does auto save after each level!

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-11T19:54:15Z

@frogman Thank you so much for your comment!

The ledge is a bit of a hitbox issue, I'm currently working on a massive content patch which should be dropping later this week in which the issue will be fixed! I'll look into the spiders/text as well, thanks for the feedback!

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-13T15:44:35Z

@johnnysix No giraffes or animals were hurt throughout development of this game <3

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-13T16:29:45Z

@mathglo Oh no! I thought I had all of this covered haha. I'll look into it some more! Thank for letting me know <3

Also, glad you enjoyed the game!

KEEP THE POWER by caudatecoder 2022-04-07T20:06:42Z

Touching message in the end!

That message also immediately increased the depth of the game for me, instead of what I first thought was a bit of a memey game suddenly turned into an expression of emotions and I really appreciated that!

The gameplay was simply, but interested, it was cool to try and balance out the different points and seeing how each of the categories would respond to certain event choices and murdering cops/journalists.

Outrun the Darkness by FlyingKaida 2022-04-07T00:21:24Z

Great little submission! Very high on fun, will definitely have to play more of this! I love the feeling of sprint-jumping or running up slopes while sprinting. I'm not sure if it's intended, but I absolutely love it!

I'm not sure if sometimes it was requirement to fall down in order to spawn on top of the platforms, but it if was hats off to you! I loved how it pushes you to actually reach the inevitable, losing energy when you fall!

Paddle Panic 🚣‍♂️😱 by Marlon 2022-04-18T19:26:54Z

Lovely game! When I heard this was a game about mashing I was like "Okay I'm in". The audio is enjoyable, albeit a bit repetitive - but not in a bad way. The gameplay was addicting. Was there any scaling? I feel like I couldn't get as far up the river the longer the game went but I might be wrong!

The biggest con was that my keyboard was slowly sliding backwards while I was mashing space. Thank you for your submission!

@JoZion, your turn!

Unremembered by White Rice 2022-04-05T18:00:20Z

PROS: - I really enjoy the art for the game, especially the grandma and the different objects. It's simple, cute, adorable, and looks pleasing on the eye! - While the concept of disappearing/falling platforms in platformers isn't quite new, linking it to a grandma forgetting things is a really unique theme on the take. - Music really set a dark mood which fit surprisingly well for the take on the theme.

CONS: - Most of the cons I had are related to bugs. Sometimes when falling I'd end up getting stuck into the object I dropped on. - Sometimes objects wouldn't reappear after resetting. - I ran into an invisible wall at the part where the painting was moving up and down vertically. - Some of the moving objects would stop moving after resetting. - Sometimes I would spawn slightly in the ground leaving me unable to jump.

I did really like the concept though, and I'd like to give it another try it you guys perhaps get the invisible wall out of the way! Would like to see what the rest of the game brings :D

Snake 2.0 by Facundo Santos 2022-04-05T18:36:45Z

As a person who used to love playing Snake on my old Nokia, I can safely say (after almost an hour of playing this): This is the game I never knew I needed.

**PROS:** - Flashy graphics with nice colour schemes. - A BANGER of a soundtrack. - Projectiles that makes you think twice about just going in a straight line constantly.

**CONS:** - I encountered a glitch where, sometimes, if I fatfingered two buttons (I think?) I would sometimes die on my own hitbox.

I really struggled on the 2nd level and grinded it for so long, but the enjoyment for me didn't get any less. Will get back to grinding this later but now I need to reprioritise my evening a bit haha.

Life Finds a Way by Mopifish 2022-04-06T17:53:07Z

Loved this entry!

**PROS:** - The audio is opted out, so I suppose it wasn't made by you yourself, but the choice of audio was great and made the game feel intense, great mood! - The talking face 'animation' was beautiful, LOVED IT! - The different tools were interesting and I loved the variety. - The variety and build-up in difficulty was appropriate for me. - The amount of years was a fun way to keep score, made me want to keep trying to beat it, too!

**CONS:** - As things got more intense, I had a hard time picking up tools properly, as I automatically just kept placing them on top of each other. Perhaps an option to pick them up with keyboard hotkeys would've been great! (Actually, I just realised this might've been a design choice to make the player be more thoughtful with where they'd drop the tools

I also ran into a single glitch once were I froze the game. During a dialogue bit, I either dropped or pick up a tool somehow (I don't remember how or what I did) and then I was unable to click to progress the dialogue.

**CONCLUSION:** - Awesome enty, variety, and replayable to people who enjoy these kinds of multitasking games!

Penguin Snoir by Sarah Alexa 2022-04-15T18:08:28Z

Hiii!

Interesting little game, I've slowly been starting to appreciate these kinds of games more and more (maybe I should finally give in and get vampire survivor?)

The theme is definitely in there, gathering clocks to delay the inevitable: your defeat (I suppose?) With the art and audio you've combined, together with the gameplay, I feel like you've set up quite an interesting mood. Definitely way different than all the death and "apocalypse" trends I've been seeing a lot this LD.

The gameplay itself was very simple and there's not much else to be said; makes me wonder what kind of additional options you would've come up with to make the game more unique, had you had more time!

I really liked the white border around the penguin by the way!

Oh, when you have a repeating sound effect such as the snowballs being thrown, it's always nice to vary the sound effect a little bit. I'm not sure how it works in construct but in many engines you're able to play a sound and define its pitch; in those engines you could play the sound effect with a random pitch change of 5% of the original pitch every time and it'll quickly stop it from sounding too repetitive. Might be worth looking into for Construct as well if that's something you care for!

Thank you for your submission!

Penguin Snoir by Sarah Alexa 2022-04-15T18:41:19Z

@sarah-alexa No problem! I'm sure you'll figure the pitching out :D On Unity it indeed takes a single line of code, I can't imagine it's much harder on construct, but then again, I know nothing about it haha.

I read somewhere that this is your first jam in a long time, shared the game with some of my LD friends, hopefully you make it to 20 ratings!!

Doof Doof: Destroyer of Worlds by BurningApparatus 2022-04-15T20:24:29Z

Helllooooo!

I just played your game and honestly, I thought it was quite a fun and enjoyable experience. It was not quite obvious at first that the bullets were bullets; I thought they were materials I had to catch. Imagine my surprise when the game suddenly restarted. That's when I realised they were bullets, and the white bar at the top left was not an XP bar, but a health bar.

Besides that, it was a pretty innovative little submission and I'd love to see where you would go with this. The audio fit the gameplay well, even though it did get a little stale after a while, but it didn't bother me too much. Cool concept! Keep it up!!!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Careful Caverns by Josh6680 2022-10-04T15:09:40Z

Interesting little game!

Even though I must be honest, I was mostly appealed by the gameplay; it made me keep trying cause I wanted to "do better" every time I died. In a way this gives me the getting over it, or jump king, kind of vibes. Rinse repeat, learn, get better, and I'm all in for it!

autoball by torcado 2022-10-04T23:58:16Z

No words, amazing entry! I love this! I would totally pay money to have this on mobile. Thanks for this great, unique, innovative, chill, submission!

Office, Time loop and The End of the World by zimennik 2022-10-04T00:09:09Z

Was playing along while Rook played on his stream. I loved the humor in the game and the gameplay was simple enough for my tired brain to manage to enjoy it after this hell of a weekend haha. Graphics were good enough for what they had to be. Thanks for the submission!

A Space Polka in Ten Parts by eerongal 2022-10-04T00:10:13Z

That polka really got to me haha. Started playing and suddenly we were 50 minutes in the future, addicting gameplay, cute graphics, simple, everything I love in a chill post-LD play and rate session <3

Destroy Blocks by mdotedot 2022-10-03T23:57:02Z

Amazing take on the theme! I really enjoy simplistic game like this! Responsive gameplay, simple/soothing graphics, chill gameplay, even though 10s is not a long time, with this game it still felt like plenty of time! Only downside I can think of is that the music got a bit repetitive. Great submission!

Lovely graphics Amazing graphics Best graphics

Oh did I mention I really LOVE your graphics? On top of that, I've to say I really adore these graphics. Oh and then, the graphics, top-notch!

Anyway, I've grown addicted to typing games like these, and this game is feeding it perfectly fine. Nothing but praise for y'all, great job!

The Potion Shop - an LGBT story by Gabriel Dias Oliveira de Almeida 2022-10-04T15:15:01Z

Really atmospheric, really nice mood, the dialogue was adorable. As for gameplay, I tried multiple times but got love 4 times in a row which is when I was like; alright, it's hardcoded, but only upon reading other comments I realised there are meant to be more types of potions. Perhaps a check what potion you used in your last run would've been great! I feel like this game has a lot of potential, imagine adding additional mechanics to the recipe (stir the pot, heat the pot) rather than just the amount of potions required :D Thanks for your submission, Gab!

10 Second Mixtape by Scott Steffes 2022-10-05T13:33:58Z

Interesting concept with some cool concept and I got to create some TERRIBLE music which was great. I just wish I could see the actual (musical) notes next to the letter, would've helped me make some AWESOME music FOR SURE. Anyway, The Great Steeds or whatever they were called was the best bands I've ever seen.

I've been looking forward to your entry ever since I saw you drop your first images on the feed!

Lovely simple art, mindwarping puzzles well designed, a soundtrack that matches the aesthetics, and mostly, a TON of fun! Another great submission by you once again, thank you!

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-03T23:44:08Z

@clonze Haha thank you! Yes, our audio guys insisted so we can't possibly say no, now, can we!? As for the lag, it shouldn't be happening on WebGL either, may I ask what browser you played on, and did you happen to try an alternative browser?

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-04T00:12:24Z

@clonze Ah right, that'll do it. Chrome has some issues with WebGL games in some cases - it will probably work better on other browsers, Edge or Firefox for example

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-04T14:50:59Z

@hekateras Hey! Thank you so much for the comment. I'm so sorry you got stuck, I thought I had it fixed but there turns to still be a few pixels when you dash that will get you stuck. Sadly, loading the game doesn't work in WebGL, it's an oversight :( Sorry for the inconvenience, but thank you for playing!!

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-04T23:18:47Z

@ruruie Thank you for playing! And I'm so sorry, can I make up for this by quickly releasing a build that allows you to jump on the robots? :D

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-05T16:57:06Z

@frogman Thank you for playing! There were indeed some parts that'd force you to wait unfortunately, as I started building levels I realised how hard it is to build platforming levels that would cater to all audiences' skill levels :D I tried to work around this by adding additional routes at places where players were most likely to get stuck, but there are too many different speeds at which people go through the levels to get it 100% smooth sadly - I'm glad you enjoyed the game either way! I'll def take this with me as feedback for future level design shenanigans :D

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-05T19:09:58Z

@finde Thank you for playing! To raise you one better, I watched Mundo/Yirsi do ALL of the soundtrack basically on the first day haha. They went CRAZY and did an AMAZING job!

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-06T14:00:56Z

@oakhardt Thank you for playing! I'm going to spoil that the dog WAS meant to be more dangerous but the time limitations got to us :D He was supposed to jump after the player, using waypoints, throughout the level, until it lost sight haha. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it <3

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-06T16:20:59Z

@sven-schoeling Hi, thank you for playing! Just had a question regarding the joystick drift :D What controller are you using? I believe the current code is set to a deadzone of .15f and if you move a stick past that in either direction it'll immediately set itself to 1 in that direction, just trying to figure out if this is a controller specific thing I need to look into or whether it's a thing in general :D Thank you!

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-06T16:23:19Z

@0x-void-x0 Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it! As for the waiting times, this is definitely something we ran into as a problem throughout the weekend sadly, we changed to being able to deactivate invisibility for that reason and I added alternate paths at places where I guessed most people would run out of invisibility, sadly, after watching a lot of playing play, I did realise it wasn't quite enough :(

On a positive note! I can assure you that the speedrun strats have basically no waiting periods, besides the power-off-gateway levels where you have to hide from the drones :D

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-06T16:56:54Z

@sven-schoeling Thank you for the headsup! :D I'll try with my own xbox360 controller as well - haven't ran into any issues with my series x controller. Appreciate the feedback :)

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-10T13:45:59Z

@bluishgreenpro Hi! I submitted it the other day but I think I had fallen asleep during the stream haha. I'm technically still interested, but time's a bit limited on my end, sadly. I could try and stop by whenever I see you're live/I'm available at the same time and then depending on the queue size we can perhaps work something out? :)

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-11T17:15:52Z

@icylava Very good time haha, gg indeed! Are you going to aim for world record? It's at 3:17 right now.

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-20T18:10:48Z

@coleslaughter Thank you so much for playing! Always a pleasure to hear from you ha. I'm glad you liked enjoyed the game a lot! I'm terribly sorry about the last jump, though! It's those little moments where I, as the level designer, am aware of all ins and outs of the game and sometimes tend to forget that other players might not see things the same way as I do haha. The eyes have a smaller hitbox than its visuals, so when I was playtesting it I would basically just walk into them slightly, then jump - rather easy.... if you're aware of the hitbox. Oops. Definitely something I need to improve on, but will take that, and your other pointers, with me to future jams!

Unfortunately I couldn't find the time to read a lengthy review on your game this time around due to an injury, but I'm def looking forward to your next LD entry (you guys better be joining again!)

Swapwood Quest R by Saturnyoshi 2022-10-05T16:53:53Z

Very solid and polished entry, as usual from Team Bugulon! The game really reminded me of a game I used to LOVE in the past, 10000000, as in, match 3 to use attacks/do things etc, but then as I went on through the explanations I found out how much depth it has. I love the gameplay, I love the different enemy abilities, I love the setup with the timer where you can see how much damage you need to deal to break through shields etc. Top-notch graphics, audio, and whatnot. Seriously great entry, thank you!

#1 Button Presser by Jvdwijk 2022-10-04T22:10:11Z

Interesting/fun concept! Nice voice acting! I liked the multitasking idea, the graphics set for a great environment, but I couldn't quite get used to the asteroid game. I don't remember what the original asteroid played like, but as for my nowadays taste in games, the minigame, to me, felt really slow and somewhat unresponsive. All in all a very fun game, nonetheless, I'll just have to accept I'll forever be bad at it haha

ShipIt! by Joey Van Lierop 2022-10-04T15:35:58Z

Such a cute game with great aesthetics! I loved the multitasking aspect you put in there, and albeit the music was a bit repetitive, I was so focused on gameplay that I didn't even notice it until I just sat and focused on the music. A sort of high score system would've been great! Nice entry, thanks for your submission!

Blades of Doom by Benjamin Halko 2022-10-05T01:06:27Z

I think I've already told you plenty of times; you had a banger of game for LD50, and a banger of a game again. Lovely. Thanks for your submission!

Blades of Doom by Benjamin Halko 2022-10-05T01:17:13Z

Also, check your highscores haha. Thanks for the great grind experience!

Downpour by chris1919 2022-10-05T13:48:53Z

Very interesting game! I did see the inspiration of 6FU like you had mentioned haha. The mechanics were interesting I liked them. The level design felt a bit repetitive though, however, there were some really interesting jumps/segment in there too! The audio was soothing and set up for some great aesthetic. Also loved the SFX!

The Method Equator by AdamPhoebe 2022-10-04T17:10:46Z

Really cool and neat aesthetic, I LOVED the oldschool vibe. Took me a bit to get into and even then I seemed to have struggled quite a bit; sometimes I randomly died and I still couldn't quite figure out why haha. Anyway, I shall get back to this to figure it out fully later tonight!

The World Ends Ten Times by SomeCodingGuy 2022-10-05T01:23:21Z

Good job on what I believe (correct me if wrong) your first entry! I managed to score 3500+ on my 3rd run and that's where I'll leave it haha.

PROS:

- Responsive controls - Smooth gameplay - Clear UI (albeit not necessarily fitting, I did find the placement/usage of it very nice!) - I liked the take on the theme, 10 seconds, but also 10 lives, nice!

Potential points of improvement:

- Sometimes the spring shot me up really far and I couldn't see where I'd end up haha - Perhaps a quick reset button that allows me to restart the game from gen 1 right away.

Acid Rain by osh.studio 2022-10-05T17:43:44Z

These aesthetics are AMAZING! Level design was cool and the gimmick, well thought out!

CATS AND COFFEE by Graylure 2022-10-04T15:24:42Z

Lovely graphics, really adorable!

Things I thought were great: - Colour Palette - ^Graphics as a whole (I loved the usage of pixel art here) - The "multitasking" gameplay - The simplicity of the UI

Things that I would've loved to see: - An endless mode with a difficulty scaling (I would've played this for hours to get THE best score in the world haha)

To Catch a Wizard by badcop 2022-10-05T17:11:53Z

Catchawizrd.PNG

I REALLY liked the platforming puzzles. Even though it was easy, it was fun, and it was built well enough that each time I got an upgrade it properly unlocked a new path - a small metroidvania if you may, which are surprisingly hard to design properly, yet you did it! The graphics did what they were meant to do. The small downside I found was that aiming the magic was a bit off, especially in the bossfight I felt it. I had moments where I was 100% confident I shot right at the enemy orbs but NOPE :D Probably mostly user error/bias though.

Thank you for your submission! Might get back to speedrun it later!

Void Well by Helzinko 2022-10-05T00:07:41Z

Lovely color palette, lovely art, lovely music (albeit a BIT repetitive), very responsive control, fun gameplay and an interesting take on the theme. Got nothing but praise for this game, thanks for the submission!

Jekyll and Hide by Gangrue 2022-10-04T23:28:09Z

Very fun take on the theme using characters I feel most people would be familiar with! It suits the theme so well haha. The levels were challenging, and I loved how killing a specific soldier turned him into a dead lab-guy. Thanks for the submission, added it to my list to get back to later, to finish!

10 Second Traffic by Grandblood 2022-10-04T00:04:11Z

Very enjoyable game! I LOVED the little sound effects haha. Controls were very responsive and the gameplay was simple, yet addicting. Interesting upgrades too, "WANTED" felt overpowered though hehe

Switcheroo by Prologi 2022-10-04T00:14:53Z

Thank you for your submission!

U.F.O.: Unconventional Farming Operation by SMilfred 2022-10-03T23:08:39Z

Very cool game! Minimalistic, but very neat. I love games like these!

PROS:

- Very responsive controls - The vibe of graphics/music and everything meshed really well - High score!

Points of improvement:

- Little bit unclear on when a crop was full grown (Maybe some simple user feedback such as a small + coming out of the crop?) - Music did get a little repetitive

First LD game I played this jam and already very satisfied!

Thanks for your submission!

LD52 — Harvest

Dead End Job by fatPenguin 2023-01-27T12:08:11Z

Finally got to playing this, just in time to rate before the rating period ended! - I played on the jamversion :)

Pros: - The controls were very smooth, responsive. - Even though the audio you used wasn't yours (I believe?), y'all picked proper audio to set up a nice mood fitting to the game! - Adorable graphics, cute models, nice animations. - Puns, there were puns! - Overall, good/polished looking game!

Things that could use some improvement: - Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, I ran into the issue where gameplay became somewhat stale; it became a matter of running away from hordes of enemies, to then turn around and quickly strike once, then rinse and repeat. - I felt like there was a little bit of a wind-up time to the attack, which didn't quite feel in place with the rest of the gameplay being somewhat fast-paced. (Basically, after pressing the attack button there seemed to be a little delay before the damage actually came through, which is perfectly fine, but when the rest of the game keeps going at a pretty high pace/no breaks/rest, it can feel a little rough around the edges here).

Glitches(?) I ran into: - Dialogue box (while scrolling through it), kept clipping to a different position. - During dialogue I vaguely saw the x-box controller Y-button clip into the corner of my screen here and there, decided to press it - skipped all dialogue (I couldn't see what the button would do, it just showed itself a little bit in the bottom left corner of my screen every now and then haha). - After the previous point happened, I got into the game, and the bat's dialogue box never disappeared. It was there throughout the rest of the game. - Sometimes when I was walking into direction x, then got to a stop and attacked, I would randomly turn and attack in direction y.

All in all, a very cutesy and nice submission! Great work!

Typefarmer by Antti Haavikko 2023-01-11T11:46:19Z

My teammate Moonizz showed off his high score so I had to go and beat his high score!

Lovely game, the graphics did what it have to do, the music was catchy and a bop (albeit slightly repetitive), and I do love myself some typing games. Some words had me confused haha, interesting choices of words at times! The one issue I ran into is that sometimes it would consider me typing the first letter of a word while I was still in the middle of another word, but keeping my eyes open on the visuals helped me out there!

Thanks for the submission!

Typefarmer by Antti Haavikko 2023-01-11T12:43:55Z

@antti-haavikko It's okay he's not invited to our next jam LOL Jk jk, I'm trying to beat him back but I'm running into a light problem where the game sometimes thinks I'm typing a different word than the one I'm actually typing, trying to figure out how to get around that and then I'll get back at him!

Hex-Yield by AndideBob 2023-01-27T11:52:15Z

Lovely little entry! It had so much going on! The graphics/audio together set up for a great, chill, mood. When I first looked into the description I was looking forward to playing a game with similar mechanics to one old favourite game of mine, but it was way more than that! I loved how there was a form of strategy involved on how placing tiles in different locations could score you more "points" etc. Unfortunately I did start running out of patience and ended up just randomly clicking tiles to see what happened, but had fun nonetheless!

One thing I'd love to see in a newer version (if not in the new version already): when you have selected a tile and the new "build options" show up, allow the player to click anywhere and/or on another tile to close this menu, rather than forcing them to click the cross every time.

Thank you for your submission!

HarvesTurnip by Colisan 2023-01-10T13:37:47Z

Great graphics. Great sound effects. Engaging gameplay. Addictive game. High-score mode.

Three hours later.

Probably my favourite game this jam, so far!

HarvesTurnip by Colisan 2023-01-10T14:37:04Z

@colisan Yea he knows the consequences; he takes top1, no spot on our LD53 team. It's up to him now :D

Squirrelativity by cassowary 2023-01-11T12:02:56Z

Always happy to play your games! Had a great time puzzling this in the early morning. The graphics were clean, and pretty, did exactly what they had to do. The different colour contrast in squirrels felt really soothing. The highlighting system on paths was impeccable as well. The audio, soothing, chill, especially with the little bird chirping sounds combined (they were in the game right? Or were they in real life? :D). The puzzles themselves, I loved them! I felt like they were slightly easier than your last game's puzzles, and therefore right at my level haha. I was able to solve up to level 14 without breaking my head; looking forward to continuing later on!

Thanks for your submission!

I have no words after playing this, but I do have high ratings LOL

Click On Fish by Pomo 2023-01-10T17:04:33Z

Hello I killed some bad fish.

Simple game, highscore mode, did it for me. You had me at the headless fish lol. Music got a bit repetitive but idc, thanks for the submission, will grind highscore later!

Click On Fish by Pomo 2023-01-10T17:10:04Z

I forgot to add I really liked the voice lines as well.

Forked Up by Paroxysmal 2023-01-09T22:01:45Z

Yooo what a lovely entry, right up my alley! I saw a post on my feed and immediately bookmarked your game in advance, glad I did!

- I might be biased as someone who loves these sort of palettes, but I LOVE the graphics. Brings me right back to the device I grew up with, they're well done, do what they need to do, and are simple amazing, great job! - The audio, totally great, too! I miss a little bit of music, which I assume you might've been able to add if it wasn't for a COMPO, so I can let this one slide haha. The sound effects were chef's kiss. - The gameplay was simple, responsive, and very smooth, not much to add here!

I did feel like it became a little bit of a grind and for some reason my head couldn't wrap around the "Items I own" vs "Required". I wonder if it would've been better to show what I was missing as well? It did take me a second to figure out what to do, I had a controller connected so I don't know if that altered the "How to play" screen, showing what keys to press, but I was actually playing on a keyboard, a bit confused pressing my A, b, and x buttons haha.

Great submission, thank you so much!

Night Job by AdamPhoebe 2023-01-10T03:32:40Z

Played along with Rincs!

Fun game, gave me a good laugh. I love the sock guy! Also, the vibe with the little screen flickers and the sound effects, great mood! I did lose a night because I took out the wrong kidney, it said the left kidney and I figured the body was on its back, so that means my right, right? Turns out I was wrong :D But after realizing that, it was no biggie!

Interesting concept, and a nice change of pace from all the reaper and farming games!

Carrot by itsBoats 2023-01-09T23:56:02Z

Another amazing itsboats game! It's simple, but polished. Straight up addictive. Cute graphics, interesting gameplay, and a high-score addition. Always a blast playing your games! I usually try and add points of improvement but I can't really think of anything so there's that. Thanks for your submission!

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-10T00:10:48Z

@calzone407 Thank you for the very kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I did have plenty of level design ideas left but unfortunately not enough time to implement all of them next to my programming work :D Perhaps I'll release an extra-content patch in the future! No promises!

Also I do want to quickly defend our music guy a little bit here haha, there are in fact 3 separate, full songs, in the game! :D But the one track that plays during gameplay might be most noticeable as this is probably a longer game experience than plenty of jam games ^^ Once again, thank you for playing! I've added your game to my list!

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-10T00:13:33Z

@jaonewguy Thank you so much for the amazing review! I'm glad you liked the level design as well! Mind sharing what engine you use? Perhaps I can give you some pointers! I've actually been thinking about doing a little level building tutorial- for the last 2 years, but never got to it. I should do that one day.

For the transitioning movement, I'm not sure what you mean? Perhaps the thing where if you hold both left/right the character stands still and therefore it feels a bit glitchy if you swap quickly? If that's what you mean, would you have any suggestions on what would feel better?

As for the slow fall, it's mentioned upon getting the first soul, but it's directly underneath the throw explanation - I should've made it more obvious that the first soul gains both abilities haha, whoops!

Thank you for trying our game! <3

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-10T00:14:01Z

@la-bread Hi hi! Thank you for playing! Mind if I ask what part bugged out for you? If it's gamebreaking it's something we might need to look at :)

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-10T00:16:01Z

@calzone407 Haha no problem! Yea I guess you do spend most of the time in the gameplay itself! There's one song in the main menu, and another song in the intermission screens as well (I think the intermission one might just be my favourite haha)

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-10T00:47:20Z

@deepfreeze Thank you for playing! The high-pitch sound, I just noticed this as well when playing through the webbuild, I'm not quite sure what it happens and still looking into it - it's not in the windows build which is the exact same build so I'm still a bit confused by it :(

Thanks for your comment, I'll make sure to fight the other programmer and have him look into the collision code some more, seems like more people have been getting stuck in floors here and then :D

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-10T15:15:34Z

@lila-pause Thank you for playing and thanks for the comment, as well! Mind if I ask what browser and controller you were using?

I found that sometimes my Xbox Series controller wouldn't work on Chrome- I'd have to reconnect the controller, refresh the browser, then make sure I didn't tab out or clicked outside of the actual embedded Unity screen. It was weird and I'm not sure what the problem is there! It might be worth seeing if my "fix" works for you as well :)

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-11T14:23:36Z

@rulrite @lukski-lukilj Hi! Thank you both for playing and dropping a comment! Seems like you both had similar issues with not being able to throw the scythe upwards; may I ask which browser you were using?

Usually you have to hold the up button (W/Up arrow, or left stick up/d-pad up on controller) and then press the throw button, but I assume you tried that, I'd like to investigate further ^^

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-11T14:31:17Z

@rulrite Ayy thank you! I'm going to hook up my switch pro controller and give it a try myself during the weekend, thanks for the headsup! :D

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-11T23:26:37Z

@yorsh Thank you for playing our game! We appreciate all input <3 I do quickly want to point out that the levels and menus were done by me, and me alone, while I could've possibly made less levels in return for more animations, I don't think you'd want me (as a programmer) to work on art haha. I'm glad you enjoyed the game nonetheless, and we'll definitely see how we can spread out our priorities a bit better in future jams!

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-20T18:34:36Z

@melektaus As usual, very impressive haha! I love watching your runs, it's people like you I built in a speedrun timer for :D

Human Harvest by Gregormack 2023-01-10T18:01:02Z

Enjoyable game!

The game itself is very gorgeous, great job to the artists! The upgrade system is cool and I felt like the upgrades were interesting enough to make it worth adding. Smooth and responsive controls and I did love the contrast between the gameplay music and the shop music. Great music, too- albeit I did feel like the gameplay music got a tad bit repetitive after a while.

I didn't keep playing so just out of curiousity, is there any ending to the game I should go back for? :D

LD53 — Delivery

Juggle Mail by kuviman 2023-05-02T11:00:49Z

What a lovely entry as usual. I love how smooth the juggling feels without making it exceptionally hard and / or moving the mouse up every time you want to throw a letter upwards. The mailbox bit was an amazing addition to the earlier version I played during development. Lovely graphics as usual (iconically Kuvi) and the audio design is chef's kiss. Very fun addictive, looking forward to play more. Also, got to love the different game modes! Solid entry!

LD54 — Limited Space

Meowspace by GameRaccoon 2023-10-03T15:08:43Z

Meow?

Very cute game, literally fits the theme too, love it! The graphics were cute, maybe it would've been cool to add a bit more life to the game somehow though? Slight visual effects or something, not sure if it would've fit the vibe though what do I know, I'm not an artist :D Controls were very smooth and responsive, dashing felt good. The audio also was a great pick, and even though opted out (assuming it's not your audio) it did add to the mood really well!

Congrats!

Door Slammers by gagouman 2023-10-03T00:12:50Z

I really loved the concept and simplicity of this! Even though the graphics were fairly simple, the gameplay felt, to me, slightly addicting (I couldn't stop going for a little while haha). The mechanics did feel a little off (pizzas needing 500 degrees which was hard to keep unless leaving the door closed meant I'd just lose a bunch of other orders) and the RNG on the materials available felt a little bit unlucky sometimes. If fleshed out a bit more this could be a lovely little high-score-arcade-like game!

Tetrominated by Peter Jonsson 2023-10-02T22:22:22Z

I'm a big Tetris fan so I couldn't say no to trying this! Very cute little Tetris-like game. Enjoyable.

Graphics and audio were nice, nothing spectacular, but they did what they had to do for this type of game (huge fan of simplicity and old-school vibes). The extra twist was very interesting however as others have mentioned, it was hard filling lines while only having 1 shot to drop blocks on the sides.

Controls were very responsive, but my finger did get tired of not being able to hold the button so I had to give up eventually :D

Explosive block was a nice addition too! Maybe I missed it, was there any indication whether a block would be explosive?

Thanks for your submission!

Flob the Bloing by Branquelo 2023-10-10T18:02:20Z

Beautiful graphics, lovely sound effects! I personally found the "limited spaces" to use my special powers a bit hard to control and I couldn't quite get used to it even after specifically trying to practice the controls! (I also sadly didn't finish the game cause dinner has arrived, but I'll be sure to revisit later!) Level design was solid, at least up to the point I made it so far haha. The controls WERE very responsive which I loved! I did lowkey miss a coyote-jump though, but that might just be a preference thing? Either way, fun entry, definitely some of the most fun I had during this jam!

I wish y'all the best on a steam release! Keep in mind though you're up against Pepper Grinder, published by Devolver Digital, releasing in 204 :D

Critter Crunch by ScrapMetal 2023-10-03T13:43:35Z

Critter Crunch.PNG

I think I got all of them!?

Congrats on your submission! First of all I want to let you know I was vibing to the music, lovely guitar (played yourself, based on the profile picture, I reckon!? :D ) The graphics were really cute and well done for what they did, close to a perfect score from me in this game's context! Would've loved to see a couple of visual effects on top. The game concept itself is interesting, it took me a round or two to realise I could hide from the "monster" by going into the spaces on the sides. Having to send in different sized critters through the small "hallways" to pick up the other critters was interesting, albeit a bit hard to control (but that's just a dev thing where I'm not used to the mechanic haha). With some more time perhaps an introductory level would've done great perhaps!

All in all, it was a quite enjoyable short game experience. Thanks for your submission!

Turn it ! by Kaimon 2023-10-02T22:29:39Z

Very cute little puzzle game! The idea is very cool and the aesthetics are great. (It's just so... simple, yet elegant.

Even though I did lowkey ruin the puzzle elements eventually by just standing on top of a block, jumping while rotating, and basically riding those to the finish (in the levels where possible), I still enjoyed it hehe. Did you have any potential extra mechanics in mind? Just curious!

Thanks for your submission!

Inferno Collapse by Zerbu 2023-10-03T15:17:36Z

"Have a nice day" laughed at that one haha

Controls were smooth, but the way the character controlled felt a bit hard especially on the smaller blocks. This is not a big issue, and could be a skill issue instead (something I'd get used to) but I wasn't exactly motivated to keep grinding to get better at it cause it put me back a level everytime. I loved the aesthetics of the game, nicely done! The general gameplay concept was also very enjoyable.

Thanks for your submission!

Hazel & Hector by cassowary 2023-10-03T14:21:46Z

Yooo always happy to play your games every jam!

Once again a very fun, little, enjoyable puzzle game. The hare animations were cute, the audio was nice and cozy. Controls were easy to use, however I do wish it would've been possible to move both hares at once (while waiting for the first one to move) but this might just be the speedrunner tendencies in me and I can imagine it'd mess with both the "pushing" mechanic but also the undo. I'm surprised by how you manage to come up with entertaining puzzle ideas every jam! Keep it up <3

Gyronimo by pepnou 2023-10-03T11:30:47Z

Loved the graphics. The control felt very responsive, but it felt like there was some accel- and deceleration on the player controller which, in combination with precisive moment and spikes and all (or jumping over keys to avoid them) - which basically turns it into a precision platformer - felt very unfair at times.

The mechanic was very cool, I recently played something doing pretty much the same on itch, but in that game you were only able to rotate on top of specific "orbs" floating on specific locations in the levels. Being allowed to rotate the map / flip gravity wherever you want, but a limited amount of times, was a nice touch and added a different type of puzzle element to the levels.

Enjoyable game, thanks for submitting!

Robo Rush Hour by michaelaranda 2023-10-04T21:56:08Z

Robo Rush Hour.PNG

Very enjoyable tetris-like game with a twist (in both gameplay AND narrative)!

The graphics are really neat and clean, from the tetrominos to the UI (very neat!). Game was very self-explanatory which is always nice (I'm personally not a fan of long tutorials!). The tiny screenshake when "dropping" a block was magical, too.

Music was nice, soothing, and very well-made, but during my first round it really got me in this "chill/soothing/relaxed" mood so I was just casually taking my team, looking at positioning, just to realise there was actually a rather tight timer haha. Sound effects were totally on point, and together with all the animations / effects made the game feel very alive.

One thing I did struggle with was seeing the exact blocks and where I'd have space to place new ones, but I have no suggestions on how this could have been altered besides a top-down view; which would've been out of place and not worked with the design you were going for.

Very nicely done, will try and improve my score over time!!

Already got it improved! can do better though!!

Robo Rush Hour by michaelaranda 2023-10-05T16:14:25Z

Hello! I'd like to report a bug! (Sadly no video). I was grinding to improve my high score, but then train 8 came in. Looks like one of the tetris block fell off the platform and was on the tracks, triggering the "Robot in the middle zone" for each train, having them leave right away (taking a life from me) :D

If I Fits, I Sits! by cheesepencil 2023-10-03T14:27:26Z

Lovely game idea, very fitting with the theme as well! The sound effects were on point and there was something pleasantly hilarious about the cat's body extending at times. Also, won't fit, ass too big :(

Rafty Crab by kuviman 2023-10-03T00:17:40Z

A classic Kuvi game, fun as always! Loved playing a little with Jerem's viewers and I feel like I've gotten pretty good at it already. Looking forward to seeing this in the scorechaser's tournament :)

The Giant's Globe by Jvdwijk 2023-10-03T14:13:48Z

Hi!

Thank you for your submission! First of all, the controls were very responsive, always a good thing! I also really liked the way to scroll through the different levels, nicely set up (even though at some point I jumped out of a level where I probably wasn't supposed to and ended up going back a level). The graphics are generally nice, but I feel like there was a lack of variation in the inner tileset, making it feel really repetitive (repeated pattern, so it makes sense). Besides that, based on the graphics I've seen throughout the game, I feel like there's a mismatch between how the artist intended tiles/assets to be used in the grand scheme of things vs how the level designers used them. The player character was very nice.

As for the game concept itself; I think it was really smart! Picking up your mechanics as you went and especially the part where you could pick them up in different orders but ALSO the fact that you have to use both before you get back to the first one. Unfortunately I didn't get to finish the game, (I might go back) but I'm hoping at some point there are levels with duplicate mechanics (jump dash jump for example).

Congrats!

Tiny Shelter by rasboy 2023-10-03T11:43:24Z

LOVELY art!

The assets, the animations, just everything about it is great.

The gameplay itself has a lot of potential, but in its current state it was a little bland, but as you mentioned- limited content. I can imagine this being a great little cat-shelter-management game with some more polish! Keep up the great work and thank you for your submission!

Safe Space Passage by Kepsert 2023-10-03T19:26:14Z

@cheesepencil Thank you for playing! <3 If you feel like finding the end (and watching the final cutscene), you could skip through the levels (and mash through dialogue) uses F2 :D

Safe Space Passage by Kepsert 2023-10-05T09:53:07Z

@sbeif Thank you for playing!

Also funny how you mention it- I did NOT submit giraffes as a theme, it's basically other people memeing around my LD50 entry (which does in fact use an unusually shaped giraffe- completely different from this game, though!) :D

I'm glad you enjoyed this game!

Safe Space Passage by Kepsert 2023-10-09T11:03:19Z

@tero-pulkkinen Not exactly! You can 1. Rotate that collision box and 2. The collision box takes different shapes and is independent of the player, which means the player can set themselves up on differrent positions in said box, which is required for the little puzzles.

Wizard n' Slims by rickylee 2023-10-03T15:02:41Z

The graphics were AMAZING. The field, the UI, everything just worked so well, a genius work of art. At first I didn't quite understand what to do though, I just spammed 1 and somehow made it to lvl 40-45 or so. Tried to focus more on upgrades on the second run made it all the way to lvl 100+ using just "Extra missile damage", "Extra missile target" and "Heal 1 health". Audio (even though not done by you I believe cause opted out) was a really good pick to go along with the game, which did add to the mood a lot! The vibe I'm getting here is a turn-based protocol delta and I'm loving it. Congrats on the submission!

Fun Ant Game by ElmoEinstein 2023-10-03T14:49:25Z

Congrats on this submission! Very nicely done for a year 9 dev! Have you been doing this for longer? The graphics were cute and all matched together well. The gameplay idea was there, interesting, especially the parts where linking specific "buildings" would increase the effects, but I feel like it could've used some more balancing. At some point it felt like a waiting game to get to my next building, but not much was going on at the same time- not necessarily a point of critique (especially considering the limited time that is a game jam), just my personal experience there! As mentioned before, a little visual feedback would be nice, but I did notice whether things were buffs or debuffs simply by looking at the numbers haha. The audio itself was sort of repetitive, had to mute it at some point, still good job on getting the audio in there esp as a solo dev!

Besides that, we really enjoyed the scrolling tutorial, very interesting setup and we loved the little pixelart on the last slide!

Thanks for your submission!

Limites Spatii by Jamtempisto 2023-10-03T13:21:43Z

Limited Spatii.PNG

Very simplistic arcade-like game, thanks for your submission!

Controls were very responsive. Besides that it was mostly very basic though! I would've loved to see a little check around the sound effect so it doesn't stack when you pick up to scores at once. I was also somewhat expecting every formula I picked up to change the player block a little, forcing me to pick up another equation next, but in the end I was mostly just colour coding to score points haha. Can definitely see the game mechanic going places if fleshed out some more!

The Carver by Cymusi 2023-10-03T14:35:15Z

Very fun game, very intuitive to play, very genius concept! Well done. The graphics and audio matched perfectly and brought me back to oldschool gaming eras (floppy games haha). I literally can't think of anything else to say, work of art right here. Congrats!

Prickle by Kultuk 2023-10-03T12:14:51Z

Very cosy puzzle game!

I absolutely loved the graphics (including the wiggle animation when you beat a level). Simple-to-understand puzzle game with an interesting take on the theme. The audio helped set the cosy vibes. Even though I'm terrible at these kind of puzzles (and ended up bruteforcing some by just trying different things over and over) I had a great time playing this game, will recommend it to my team!

KeyBound by AgrMayank 2023-10-06T11:46:07Z

Keybound25.PNG

Very cool / interesting concept! I loved the retro-style lighting, the music fit very well (good pick!). Controls were very responsive, but I do think the platforming controller itself could use some work (especially the getting stuck on walls was really painful haha - are you using the in-engine physics system for this?)

What frustrated me a little bit was the quick-paced feel of the game, with the timer inviting me to speedrun it- but then there's a massive chunk of text on the middle of my screen, while the timer is running, that I either have to click way (leaving me with only one hand ready on my keyboard to speedrun the game) OR play with the text up. Even with that though, I did have a fun experience grinding the game for a little bit! Might get back later to try and get to 24 or maybe even 23 :D

KeyBound by AgrMayank 2023-10-06T12:07:28Z

@agrmayank Haha it definitely was very inviting to keep trying! In the end when I learned the route well enough, I decided to just play with the text on screen to avoid losing any time there :D

As for the wall friction, I'm not sure if it's something you've done already, but you could try adding a physics 2d material with 0 friction on the player's collision box- the default physics material on a 2d collider has like 0.4 friction which is what gets you stuck on walls. Perhaps this helps!

Blueberry Boy Makes Space by nujank 2023-10-03T11:21:00Z

Hi! Left your tab open from stream before I went to bed and finally got to try it! I could imagine this being an old-school DOS game! Also I didn't realise the checkpoints were checkpoints, I thought they were some kind of saw so I just kept jumping over them :D

+ Controls are very responsive + Graphics are minimal, but very cute, much appreciated (I'm a sucker for simplicity haha) + I love the way the entire map shows the entire time + Lots of different, consistent, gimmicks + Each "room" felt like its own, unique, challenge + Lovely jump sound effect (and also the crunchy death sound haha) + Rather solid level/room design

Things that I would've loved to see:

- Slightly quicker cycles (at some points it felt like the waiting time for those "swap blocks" for example got a bit tedious) - Jump on space (even though jumping on up arrow does fit the aesthetics) - End-game timer in this sorta game would've been great! See how long it took me to beat

Overall, an enjoyable experience to me. Thanks for submitting!

LD55 — Summoning

Re5ummon Me! by jerrre 2024-04-15T17:40:02Z

Very unique and cool mechanic! UI worked well, the abilities and well, the entire gameplay was very interesting! Enjoyed it! The only thing I really wanted in this was a fast-forward or an auto-play button with speed-up functionalities. Maybe I missed it? But I didn't feel like there was a real reason to have to press Resummon me for every attack, so it became a bit tedious as I started reaching the 60/70+ health range :D

Great submission!

EDIT came back to the game: turns out I died on the last round previously haha. Sad it's not endless, still a great submission!

I'm calling a winner here, brilliant game! Polished, responsive, fun mechanics, interesting upgrades, good level scaling, amazing art. Great entry!!!

Hi! Just wanted to let you know the current link leads to your "EDit Game" page (inaccessible to us) rather than your actual page :)

12 Vengeful Ghosts.PNG

I loved the graphics, the bullet hell design, the narrative, and the soundtrack is a BANGER. I felt like sometimes the dodge didn't work as intended, or was I just doing something wrong (I'd dodge forward to go across a line of bullets, to just "dash" right into it on point blank range? Maybe I just pressed it too late haha)? Either way, great entry!

Souls 'R Us by Aarimous 2024-04-15T02:10:29Z

Fun little resource management game! Watching a horde of demons walk around on the screen was very satisfying. The voice clips were fun! Game ran smoothly too. I could totally imagine this game to be expanded, but you've already mentioned this on stream yourself!

Grats on the submission, you've done it!

Summoners of the Rings by Thoastbot 2024-04-15T12:22:45Z

Color me addicted! I've been playing this game for too long at this point, for its simplicity it's very addicting! I love just (re)arranging my rings to summon big monsters. Game is pretty self explanatory, but hard to master. "Matchmaking" seems a bit rough sometimes, but for a compo game, very impressive! Will get back to this later, I want bigger monsters.

Great game albeit it started getting a little laggy idk why. Fun management game, smooth, tight UI, lovely graphics, cool soundtrack. Another Boats classic.

@nickcherns Thank you! I'm a sucker for trying to go without tutorials, hoping people will figure it out by level design- but it was somewhat hard on this one with a mechanic that basically gives the player mostly unlimited freedom haha. I'll definitely look for means to improve the introduction, however!

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-15T02:56:14Z

@pilottk Thanks for playing! I wish I could've continued the story some more (I have ideas!) but I had to let go due to time constraints / "scope creep". The idea of spawning a tunnel slightly higher is smart! Maybe the bottom line just below the player's feet?

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-15T02:56:42Z

@joua @aarimous @cibums Thank you for playing, and I appreciate the kind words!

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-15T02:57:43Z

@mrventures Thank you for trying the game! In level 2, once you pick up the orb, the little clock will light up and you can now press shift or c (or west button / trigger buttons on controller) to summon (or destroy) a time/space tunnel. Once you've got that going, feel free to see what it allows you to do :D

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-15T03:24:36Z

@decadedecaf Thank you for playing! These comments make my sleep deprivation feel worth it!

@myse I guess the harder than anticipated in this case would mostly relate to art haha. It took up a lot of my time (to make it look somewhat good!) which I would've otherwise loved to have spend on narrative / my other gimmick ideas :id:

@cheesepencil Thanks for playing! Do you have any feedback on what I could've done differently to make it more obvious?

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-15T03:31:09Z

@mrventures I think you might mean level 3?

Level 2: Level2.gif

Level 3: Level3.gif

If you hold either up or down when pressing tunnel, it'll place a vertical tunnel :) I'll look into finding a better way to showcase this for post-jam as I've heard more feedback on this. I was hoping the gap in the ceiling would be enough to trigger dormant gamer instincts haha

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-15T03:32:39Z

@breakfastgun Thank you for playing! Don't underestimate yourself, it's a rather unique (or uncommon at least?) mechanic, so it'll always be a bit harder to get used to! I did try to set up the game so that there's no (or not many at least) input sequences and most of the level design will give you some time to set yourself up, otherwise if a level deems to rough but you'd still like to see what next, you could press F4 to continue :D

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-15T03:54:03Z

@andrewkennedy These levels were also the most fun to design, I'm glad you liked them! Now I'm sad the other 2 gimmicks I had at the ready weren't working properly, I think you would've enjoyed them hehe.

Regarding the background, thanks for the input! Art is definitely my weakest side here (takes me a long time to get something looking decent), and I wanted to get some parallax going, but I couldn't make it look right at all and at the point I gave up I had already spent too much time on background art to justify making yet another background :( Post-jam, perhaps?

Funny how you mention the theme btw, I actually downvoted tunnels as I despised it- didn't even think about the irony here until you mentioned it xD

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-16T03:51:34Z

@zee-yuen hi! Thanks for playing! Am at work on phone rn so hard time typing but the game does have autosave if you want to try more! ♡

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-17T10:17:37Z

@nardandas thank you for playing! First of all I'd like to let you know you were quite a lot quicker at figuring out the levels than most people, the execution was a bit harsher but that's mostly a design thing from my end that needs improvement haha. Limited time gives limited time for playtesting (if any at all).

There are some things I'll be looking to implement after rating period including but not limited to a killbox buffer after removing tunnel. Sorry for the stressful moments, I'll make sure to use it as feedback in the postjam / future jams, however! :D

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-19T14:39:01Z

@euler-moises Hey! Thanks for playing! All sounds and audio are made in Famitracker, my favourite of the trackers out there :D. But there are other trackers you might like better. For Famitracker, if you're looking to try it, I recommend googling the v5 beta (not on the actual famitracker site)

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-19T15:03:06Z

@justcamh Thank you for playing! Trust me, I did have secrets in mind but time constraints haha, couldn't even finish the narrative :(

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-20T14:56:35Z

@digital-bacon Thank for you playing!

Ending up inside a wall was a common thing haha- should've thought about the design a bit more, there! The post-jam fix has the horizontal tunnel spawn a bit higher, and there's a buffer on the kill-call when inside ground (so you have some time to jump out of a tunnel while in ground)- hopefully that solves the issue for future players! :D

Infernal Ascension by Cosmo8 2024-04-15T03:34:44Z

What a lovely entry!

+ The controls were responsive +++ AMAZING visuals, the art style, the effects, everything + Interesting gameplay + A cool variety of mechanics

I would've loved to see some additional platforming, and perhaps some changes to the numbers here and there(?), jump felt a bit too floaty for my liking and I believe there was no coyote time? :( Not a big issue though as I don't think the game's meant to be a straight up platformer.

Did take me a while to realise the little demon followed my mouse, that's my own stupidity though :D

Great entry!

Cauldron Crafters by cibums 2024-04-15T11:25:29Z

Cute little entry! I enjoyed watching my BIG FIERCE MONSTER be just a cute looking slime. The chaining of items to get different effects created a bit of a puzzle element, had me thinking at times! Responsive game/UI. Did you have any plans for more (both positive and negative) side effects on items?

The Wizard Games by nickCherns 2024-04-15T02:52:25Z

The Wizards Games.PNG

+ Cute sound effects + Responsive controls + Typing game + High scores + Simplistic graphics which do what they have to do

Things that I would've loved to see (these are bullet points, not minuses :') )

- Difficulty scaling - Even a slight consistent background noise OR different pitches on SFX - Different key settings - Lower starting volume

Overall, pretty decent first entry! Well done!

The Scroll of Greed by spratt 2024-04-15T11:42:35Z

The Scroll of Greed.PNG

Fun game! Often ran into dead ends and died cause... greed haha. The graphics are adorable, the - I think procedurally generated?- rooms were configured nicely. Very simple, very enjoyable.

Bumpastic by simontzky 2024-04-15T12:49:50Z

Fun game, interesting puzzles! I wasn't quite smart enough to find a proper strategy for each level and ended up bruteforcing my way through, but I had a good time. Audio/graphics (although not yours I believe?) were a good fit with the gameplay and added to the mood. Responsive controls, clear design, well done!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Stacked Creatures by Kepsert 2024-10-06T19:34:48Z

@good-enough I did make it! :D Not my proudest game, but I'm just glad to still have been a part of it <3 Lemme add your name to my spreadsheet for games to play, already!

LD58 — Collector

#1 Card Collector by Jvdwijk 2025-10-06T23:20:35Z

Played this for way longer than I'd wanted to... I just wanted to find a specific card!

I'm going to be honest, the art is definitely not the best, the gameplay itself is not the most intriguing, but BOY did y'all manage to simulate that feeling of collecting trading cards well. Absolutely brilliant. It had me GRINDING to get the next pack and it gave me an actual dopamine hit AND YET I WANTED MORE. Nicely done, my favourite addiction simulator in the jam so far (no but actually, managing to capture this TCG effect so strongly is very amazing!) Good job!

To The End Of Time by Kepsert 2025-10-06T22:47:46Z

@jhonny111 I noticed the same thing hehe- pretty painful! There are plenty of controls we've prepared however, let me note them down on our pages, thanks for the reminder :D

To The End Of Time by Kepsert 2025-10-07T22:20:42Z

@automatonvx Thanks for the feedback! The WebGL issue we did find, for some reason the exact same input setup works fine on Windows and in Editor, but breaks in WebGL (among some other issues we had found in WebGL in the last 2 hours when we were testing, more info on this on the game page :D)

I agree that the gameplay might've gotten a bit repetitive, we might've been caught up by scope creep a little there hehe. I guess I could've sped up the entire clock, in general, though!

As for the bossfight with no setback; this is intentional for the game jam in this case, we usually try to build in SOME sort of failsafe so people of all levels within the jam will be able to in some way experience the entire game. Our post-jam version (it's already ready, but we'll wait to upload it till after the rating phase) has a bigger penalty. Not sure if I can get myself to finish the bossfight as we intended, even post-jam, though hehe

Thank you for playing!

Skillector by Stellar Lily 2025-10-06T22:52:16Z

Cute little game, responsive controls, does what it says on the tin! The soundtrack was lowkey a banger and I might've ended up playing this game for longer than I had expected to! Pretty close to perfect hehe... only thing missing was the possibility for a bigger WOOSH! (Or did I miss it!?)

Seven-Day Bargain by Megurt 2025-10-06T22:25:10Z

Very cool graphics / audio / mood! Really brought me back to the old times! The game was pretty intriguing and I admit I played a couple of rounds (I was more addicted than I'd like to admit). Game was responsive, the sound effect were CRUNCHY as hell, and even though I.. don't think there's a lot of skill involved (it's really just luck? Correct me if I'm wrong!) I just couldn't help but play more. Well done!
