Man, the production quality of this is amazing! Y'all hit it outta the park. I did find the music loop a bit annoying after a while tho, haha. But seriously great work :)

duckwings 2023-10-03 01:17

The jelly rectangles are a neat platforming mechanic with a lot depth. I can see this idea going far if you continue with it.

aolriki 2023-10-03 01:27

Muito bom e inovador. Quando pensei sobre o tema, nunca imaginaria ver um jogo assim. Bonito e muito bem feito, parabéns.

gorglomux 2023-10-03 14:48

The game is gorgeous. Really. I really liked the looks of the space blocks! In terms of level design i feel that the camera is a little bit too zoomed in, and a little bit of coyote jump would feel awesome ! I really like the leaves particles in the background!

branquelo 2023-10-03 15:19

@hjalte thanks a lot! The music was made by us too, our sound designer tried to make songs in a 8 bit style, but yeah, it is a little annoying haha.

@duckwings thank you so much! we thought first in putting a jetpack, or something like that, but after some thought, the idea that you have a limited space to fly sounded better.

@aolriki Muito obrigado pelo feedback! A gente demorou MUITO pra decidir o que fazer, e acabamos até atrasando a produção, mas no fim conseguimos completar. Valeu mesmo!

@gorglomux Thanks for the feedback! There are some details in the character movement that we could change in the future, like the speed in the space block, for example. But thanks a lot again!

golovco-adelina 2023-10-03 15:50

the pixel art is absolutely amazing!!!

sun0837 2023-10-03 16:26

I love the pixel art!

tavevil 2023-10-03 16:28

Awesome entry, The game feels and looks super polished!

I do wish that you had the option to move the camera just a little bit, so you can sort of inspect what's coming up.

and I think it would help make the mechanics feel better if every time you enter the space blocks it slows you briefly to allow the player a buffer to start floating. instead of just falling straight through if you're not just constantly holding down space.

otherwise, controls are tight, and the art style is even tighter!

Great work!

azokal 2023-10-03 16:48

I love the pixel. The control work well. It took some time to understand how to really understand the movement in the black zone. But it was fun. :)

philocode 2023-10-03 17:29

As the other said, the art style is amazing and really well executed. For me, it took a bit to get used to the controls in the black zones and some platformer features like coyote time and jump buffering might be missing to make the experience a bit smoother, but I am not entirely sure whether that is true or not :D I really liked your interpretation of the theme and found it quite funny, well done!

jozgames 2023-10-03 18:11

Lindo de mais o jogo, parabéns!

cosmogonicfrog 2023-10-03 19:06

This has a great vibe and very clean movement. I felt very proud of myself when I figured out that you could jump on the thing that produces the laser beam. Great job! :)

flob.png

wuppos 2023-10-03 19:26

I always love platformers and I think this was a really good one! I made it to the end in only 66 deaths. How did I do? :D

Knipsel.PNG

The level design was on point, introducing new elements step by step and giving players a chance to play around with them in an easy environment before making it harder. Overall the game also had a very cohesive feel, with the art, music and gamplay mixing really well. One thing hat bothered me where the levels where you could not see where you were going off screen. Especially the last level, with all the lasers, suffered from this. The acceleration within the bubbles was also quite fast and therefore hard to control, but honestly that was also part of the fun :)

Really great job! I enjoyed this one a lot :D

branquelo 2023-10-03 21:31

@golovco-adelina @sun0837 thanks a lot! Our artist work pretty hard on making the game look good, and we are glad that you liked!

@tavevil Thanks a lot! And thats a great point. We started the game a little too late, so we didn't have a lot of time to feel the mechanics, and, when we were making the levels, because we were used to the controls, we didn't feel a lot of this, so it's great to see some of this kind of feedback, thanks a lot again!

@azokal Thanks for the feedback! The blank zone is really hard to get used to, but we are glad that you liked the game overall!

@philocode Thanks man! As i said earlier, we didn't have much time to polish the movements, but we tryed to make the movement as good as possible, and, maybe, in the future, we can polish them. Thanks for the feedback!

@jozgames Obrigado pelo feedback cara! É bom ver BRs aqui no Game Jam tb!

@cosmogonicfrog Thanks man! And yeah haha, firs we though if we make the pipe kill the player, but then we opted to stay this way, so players can jump on them to pass through more easily

@wuppos Thanks for the feedback man! You did great! Thanks for the feedback on level design, this was the first time i focused 100% in game and level design, so it's good to see that i made a good job hahaha. About the camera, yeah, i think it would be better to make them a little far from the player, some levels, like the one with the platform that moves, if you could see them before, you could prepare to jump. And the acceleration it's something that we are hearing and we are thinking to change to something like, up and down acceleration having a limit, and this limit beign slower than the one right now, and making the left and right acceleration faster, so player can jump from one space to another easily too.

Again, thanks everyone for all the feedback, we are happy that you'll liked our game!

camilleb 2023-10-03 22:04

Great job ! Had a hard time figuring out how the mechanic works, but it was fun :)

branquelo 2023-10-04 02:38

@camilleb I'm glad you liked it. One of the most common feedback are the mechanics, specially the movement inside the square, so we are taking note to work more on this in the future (in this game or in the games that we're gonna make in the future).

xeniarta 2023-10-04 03:39

Such a nice game! Art is beautiful, the colors just wow, and overall mood, falling leaves on the background. Interesting interpretation of the theme, it stands out, and main idea is unusual. And I liked how professional the game was guiding me through increasing difficulty. Game is wholesome and polished, really fun to play, and gives such warm nostalgic feelings.

magnanix 2023-10-04 09:46

This was a masterpiece! Loved everything about it :D Good art, good SFX, good music, all great! The interchange in mechanics to make puzzles was well thought out too. Made me feel like I needed ghosts running around (a la super meat boy) when I died for motivation and adjustments! Took me 20+ deaths before I realized you can stand on deactivated lasers... got so close without touching them at all on the last level, haha. Amazing work! score.jpg

tutti-ankka 2023-10-04 11:31

Solid feeling platformer! I'd prefer that moving inside the floating areas was a bit faster, so that you can make longer jumps. Music also got a bit repetitive, but other than that it has a nice feel, juicy graphics and animations!hscore.png

pickydogfish 2023-10-04 11:35

This is a really nice platformer. The movement feels nice, smooth and responsive. While in the "limited space" the acceleration was hard to control, but that's what made it fun and introduce a level of mastery once you got a feel for it. The game also looks really nice and cohesive, with some decent music as well (although a bit repetitive). As some people mentioned, a level when a player is forced to step onto a deactivated laser would be nice, but other than that, great level design!

Also here's the score from my playthrough: score.png

vhalenn 2023-10-04 11:50

The style is pretty cool, I liked the iteration over Celeste mechanic but some jumps like in the second level are so hard ! Good job !

matthartley 2023-10-04 12:48

Amazing quality and art. And very fun to play, well done!

eliyud 2023-10-04 13:18

A genial and gorgeous work, overall! I only have to say GOOD JOB! It's a masterpiece! GG!

m0rph1y 2023-10-04 16:33

I like the visual part of this game, and also idea is pretty cool, but controls in this game made me mad. And soundtrack is pretty annoying, but overall 8/10

okshirl 2023-10-04 20:28

omg I love the art in this one! the mechanic reminds me of the celeste one but done in a different way. I think the music was cute, I feel like if it wasn't in such a short loop I'd be jamming to it! I didn't quite catch that you could jump again in the square until I saw the other comments but that made it easier, I think it has to do with the way this mechanic was introduced. But I think the jump felt good which is crucial for a game like this, and once you get the mechanic down, moving through the squares felt satisfying. Again, great art and sound track, good job! p.s. also a webgl build would be nice and maybe moving could be in wasd as well for us 60% keyboard users hehe.

zubspace 2023-10-04 21:15

It's a very polished game for sure. I'm not the one who gives up easily, but you nearly had me on the last level:

Flob.jpg

I like the pixel art and the color palette. The backgrounds and the animations are top-notch. I think the controls are a bit too unforgiving, but with a bit of practice it works.

Good job overall!

hakro 2023-10-04 21:25

The art style is really great, I loved it. It's got really a nice moody atmosphere to it. Very nice entry overall.

diego-teran 2023-10-05 05:20

That was hard! Really enjoyed the level progression. The art is beautiful too.

It made me feel old seeing everyone else's time, it took me like 20 mins and 100 deaths

svenerik 2023-10-05 05:52

High level of polish in this one~ I enjoyed the overall vibe of it a lot, the graphics are superb quality pixel-art! Audio fits the overall package, it's all a little jolly adventure to go through it, although it took a bit because I'm not really good at these kinds of games, yet still went on with it - which speaks for itself.

Superb entry!

ategon 2023-10-05 07:51

Thanks for submitting the game to the stream! If you wanted to watch it again in the future heres the vod timestamped to your game

falestress 2023-10-05 17:11

I'm terrible at this type of game, I died twenty times when facing the first encounter with the green barrier I really liked the graphics, the music, the animations Very good gamefeel :)

Really good game ! GG team !

chybby 2023-10-06 05:59

Took me some time to get used to jumping across from one limited space to another but in general the movement felt really smooth and satisfying. I liked how everything looked with the black spaces in particular looking really cool.

chrome_CCq3aQCodL.png

eggtillius 2023-10-07 03:18

gorgeous and fun !

benisu 2023-10-08 07:56

cool celeste reference, and love how you guys allowed for moving inside those blocks instead of the straight-line motion only in celeste. top tier pixel graphis, and nice (although agree with some others, a bit repetitive) music, and also satisfying sound design. gameplay was fun, but i would have liked to maybe see a little bit more experimentation with the limited space theme, which in this case i guess is the translucent blocks. i'm wondering if there is some way to design levels that rely way more on those blocks instead of traps/etc. for adding difficulty if that makes sense.

vidu 2023-10-08 08:00

Very very beautifull but the space mecanic is barrely impossible to understand and control for me ! But the game seems amazing ! Congrats !

netarion 2023-10-08 08:06

Good arts and gamefeeling, didn't get the idea at start and nor for the theme. As theothers, the music is too repetitive. Goodjob overall

powerofsin 2023-10-08 08:09

A nice hard platformer with very solid production values :D

flob.png First attempt took me around 12 minutes and 60 deaths but 2nd run was cake.

Having mostly figure out how the game controls, I got to say I am not a fan of the way momentum works while in the limited spaces. I don't feel enough in control when exiting it due to the crazy speeds one can accumulate vertically. One would expect horizontal movement will also speed up, so it's a bit counter intuitive when it's so unbalanced.

My design instincts are telling me it should completely ignore gravity while in the limited space and you can move freely in all directions, as if it was a top down game, with space bar maybe giving a dash. Maybe you had it as a concept somewhere during development but it got scrapped? I am assuming so since the sprite inside has full 360 rotation that feels like it would swim more than just fiddle with gravity.

It looks and sounds gorgeous though xD

axlplosion 2023-10-08 10:25

I haven't played many platformers before so I couldn't quite make it to the end before it got too difficult for me. It is quite fun though! I like that the levels are pretty short, and introducing new elements (like the moving platforms or the lasers) one by one works really well.

The only things I would improve is the game feel and some of the more difficutl parts in some levels, but that's really just me nitpicking things that you only figure out with playtesting anyway, so for a jam game you've done a great job here, well done!

simonlarsen 2023-10-08 10:33

Very nice entry. The artwork is very polished and the parallax and falling leaves do a lot to make the environments feel alive. Impressive amount of levels as well. The controls felt a bit finicky which made some of the levels much harder than they should be. I don't think this game screams "limited space" but great job nonetheless.

constance 2023-10-08 11:16

Very awesome platformer! The art style is really cute and squishy, I love it. The sound and music are really great too, really fitting with the squishiness look of Flob, although the music is a bit repetitive but it's tolerable. It took me a while to get used to the control inside the space (or liquid) blocks, but then it was fun and enjoyable once I got a hang of it.

My suggestions are add a little of coyote time for the player and look ahead time for the camera, because it's kinda hard to see what was going on ahead. And slow down the movement inside the liquid blocks a bit, that would make the controls more forgiving and easy to get used to.

Overall, very great and polished platformer guys! I had quite an amazing experience with it.

kasmilus 2023-10-08 12:22

Really good graphics (animation, colours, background, everything is really sweet!), good sound, I enjoyed the squishiness of the death sound, music is cool and fits perfectly. Core gameplay idea is nice, I like it, I enjoyed the general feel of how the character controls but I have two complaints. One is camera - I'm not sure what exactly it is, maybe it's too responsive, maybe too floaty, it just didn't feel right. I guess it would be better to have a small rectangle in the middle of the screen where your character can be without the camera moving at all, not sure, would need to try it but it was a little bit off. Second and bigger issue is with how precise the game requires me to be. It might be a personal preference and some people prefer it the way it is now, but too me it just doesn't feel like I can master controls here. The character starts falling too quickly, I was hoping I would be able to slow down a bit more in those black spaces but it requires me to jump in with a very small velocity otherwise I'm always falling off the other side. I felt like I just wasn't getting better at all as I was playing. With platformers like celeste I felt the difficulty was huge at times but I was always able to master that and improve, here it was mostly frustrating as the velocity was going up really quickly and not slowing down fast enough. I appreciate the way levels progress, it's well thought-out.

Cool game overall, but not as good as it could have been with some minor tweaks :)

branquelo 2023-10-08 20:40

I'm marking everyone to be easier haha

@xeniarta @magnanix @tutti-ankka @pickydogfish @vhalenn @matthartley @eliyud @m0rph1y @okshirl @zubspace @hakro @diego-teran @svenerik @ategon @falestress @chybby @eggtillius @benisu @vidu @netarion @powerofsin @axlplosion @simonlarsen @constance @kasmilus

Thanks a lot for the kind words, for all the feedback and the critics.

We, as a team, are very happy that you'all enjoyed our game. We heard all the feedback, about the difficult, the controls, the song and etc., and we decided to make changes to the game, but we decided to progress with the game, and post in on Steam.

We are going to try to maintain the core, and upgrade the game to be bigger and better.

Again, we appreciate all the positive comments, all the love our small game received, we are very happy. s2

milq 2023-10-08 22:15

Outstanding game! I adore the reference to Celeste, although it showcases distinct mechanics! Brilliant implementation! The level design is fantastic and the art is sublime! My only critique would be the music; it doesn’t quite align with the artistic style and can be a bit repetitive. Aside from that, all I can say is congratulations to the entire team! A truly marvelous game!

lincolnsalles 2023-10-09 04:50

I came across your post that suggested it was something much simpler, because it was just level design squares. The graphics are beautiful. Very good level design, although I struggled in some parts later on, but that's because I'm terrible at precision platforms. It really deserves a Steam version. Only the music became annoying after a while because it is very short and repetitive. But I know that time doesn't help.

amunonra 2023-10-09 16:33

Wow, this game was a challenge for me, although I managed to get through in the end. I bet Kaizo players would love this one. Definitely needs practice in precise controls. I liked the gameplay idea of the lasers although this required more frequent hitting of the spacebar xD Character, art design and animations are all very fitting. I would complain about he repetitive music though. All in all nice game

notnasiul 2023-10-10 16:21

Oook, I'm not repeating the whole level, sorry! :D But platforming is decently solid, graphics are great and the gravity-inversion mechanic is cool! I wish there were control points mid-level, but I understand it's not that kind of games, and levels are small with that in mind, right? Well done!

kepsert 2023-10-10 18:02

Beautiful graphics, lovely sound effects! I personally found the "limited spaces" to use my special powers a bit hard to control and I couldn't quite get used to it even after specifically trying to practice the controls! (I also sadly didn't finish the game cause dinner has arrived, but I'll be sure to revisit later!) Level design was solid, at least up to the point I made it so far haha. The controls WERE very responsive which I loved! I did lowkey miss a coyote-jump though, but that might just be a preference thing? Either way, fun entry, definitely some of the most fun I had during this jam!

I wish y'all the best on a steam release! Keep in mind though you're up against Pepper Grinder, published by Devolver Digital, releasing in 204 :D

sparklingsushi 2023-10-10 19:35

Congratz of finishing the project! It wasn't so easy for me as for others but i finished the game and it was pretty fun ride! See ya on next jam!

Olá, mais um 🇧🇷 aqui :)

bloing.png

branquelo 2023-10-12 17:48

@milq thanks a lot for your feedback. I'm glad that you liked my level design haha, it was the first time i was 100% on game and level design.

@lincolnsalles Thanks man! Thanks for liking my level design, and thanks for the support. We are working right now on a "revamp" of the game. We're gonna try to make a bigger version, but not too big. We are trying to launch on december! Again, thanks for the feedback

@amunonra it's a little bit hard for everyone, so, don't worry haha. When i was testing, it took me a couple of trys to make the level doable, bot not very easy. About the lasers and the black box, we thought about other ways to control, but in this amount of time we took a safe route haha. Thanks for the feedback!

@notnasiul yeah, the levels are, like, one big challenge in a small room, so mid level checkpoint wouldn't be necessary at first, but in future versions that we're making, it would be a nice touch. Thanks for playing our game and thanks for the feedback!

@kepsert thanks A LOT for your feedback, i'm glad that you had fun playing our game. The Coyote Jump was a common complaint, so in the Steam Version we are already doing a lot of quality of life changes. I'm gald that you liked my level design, as i said earlier, it's my first try on this kind of field, although i studied and played a lot of games, so this made it a little bit easier haha. Thanks again!

@sparklingsushi thanks! and it's normal, some people are more used to hard 2D platformers, so i'm gald that you played it all!

@kuviman GG and thanks for playing our game!

strangeryann 2023-10-15 12:24

very good-looking game

the character's cute, the animation's on point, level design's good

it's way too hard imo tho!

I gave up at the level with the 3 weightless zones at the top and the 2 at the bottom

it's challenging and interesting to control the characters but moving around the weightless zones I found really tricky

also the green gate zones are a bit too punishing for my taste

definitely for the experts, this one ;-)

good going though, thanks for the xp :grinning: :sparkles:

bloodbane 2023-10-15 13:56

Nice platformer with alternate space. I guess that space is the limited space here. I had to try couple times until I understand how to use that space to get to the exit.

branquelo 2023-10-16 05:22

@strangeryann Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, the weightless zone are a little bit tricky, we're making a new version, and we're gonna change this. It's hard to balance a game on 72 hours haha, but thanks again for the feedback!

@bloodbane Thanks! Yeah, the limited space is the space where you can fly. We tought about the character beign a creature that lost his powers, and he could only use in these limited spaces.

tetracold 2023-10-17 21:36

I really like the sprite work it's very nice!

The way the theme is integrated is pretty creative!

the way the main mechanic was implemented however left me a bit dissatisfied tho. When I started to get better at controlling the character I started to see the appeal, tho I do think the character falls way too quickly and I often found myself making way too short jumps when trying to exit the squares, causing me to fail. I eventually got somewhat used to the way the momentum works and I managed to do it to the end, tho it made the experience not as fun as it could have been and left me wishing I had a little more control over the character.

Also, as some others pointed out but the music loop is a bit repetitive, a longer track would be really nice

the game could be interesting with more polish!

chaoli 2023-10-18 05:28

Very well polished game! The pixel art is impressive, and the sound effects are quite good. I had a hard time passing the last two levels, but overall I enjoyed this game.

flob-score.jpg

sgtweirdo 2023-10-18 12:58

Great jam entry! Couldn't get through the level with the two moving platforms, that last jump requires an annoying angle and timing combo I wasn't able to hit. The gameplay felt quite nice, the power areas can be unforgiving, you managed to add quite a number of level elements too which I appreciated. Music loop I endured the same as others. Overall well polished, lots of stuff inside, no jank. Great entry!

adamcyounis 2023-10-20 06:24

Heya! Thanks for sharing to the discord. I appreciated the level of fidelity you put into the game's effects and little things like the background leaves. The music was a bit repetitive after a while, but the SFX were quite good. I felt that the colours and setting were gentle and satisfying though the gameplay was perhaps a bit too difficult by comparison. For the most part the game was implemented well, mechanically, but I would say the tuning of the level design, buoyancy and camera control were too finnicky to really get a good flow going in the span of my time with the game, especially in the later levels where the goo lasers would appear on screen with no time to react.

Still, I was able to finish and I did feel like the amount of levels and diversity among them was well scoped.

Thanks again for sharing and good luck in the jam!

jvdwijk 2023-10-20 20:25

Solid platformer! The vertical movement did seem a lot more violent than the horizontal movement, which made the game a bit difficult for some jumps. Good submission!

aaln 2023-10-22 15:27

**Hello there, these are notes I took while playing. Yeah, it's not much...**

- Cute, and charming - Nice display of mechanisms - WELP, I'M BLOCKED (I couldn't jump high enough.)
