Oh my god this was really good! I really like that old-timey flickering effect. I want to know how you did that.
Just a couple nitpicks before I give this a full score. On the operation where I had to remove both kidneys I removed the right one first and then when I went to remove the left it wouldn't let me so I did the right again and the left kidney swapped out with the right one and removed the right one again. Also, in the last operation I removed the heart and nothing happened. I don't know if there was supposed to be an ending and the game just broke, but if there was something else I didn't end up seeing it.
Now for my score: Overall, I gave it a 5. I thought it was a well put together project, and I'd love to see it developed further.
Humor and mood are such easy categories that seem under utilized in LD. 5's for both of those.
5 on graphics. Again, I feel like a lot went into this. If this was all made in the game jam I feel like I have so far to go. I love seeing stuff like this and just thinking "I will probably never be this good".
I gave audio a 4. I liked the music, but I didn't really think it stood out. Not a bad thing. It does what it's supposed to.
For fun and innovation I did 3 and 2 respectively. I did enjoy the game, but as far as mechanics go I would've liked to see more game play than just "click to do thing". When I think innovation I think innovative mechanics first, then theme second.
Again, I really did like this and would probably play this if it was a full game (or at least watch streamers/YouTuber's react to it ).
The UI design on this game was great! Aesthetically a kind of gumshoe style low lighting to this game, some really strong language (for younger players), but overall a humorous game!
Played along with Rincs!
Fun game, gave me a good laugh. I love the sock guy! Also, the vibe with the little screen flickers and the sound effects, great mood! I did lose a night because I took out the wrong kidney, it said the left kidney and I figured the body was on its back, so that means my right, right? Turns out I was wrong :D But after realizing that, it was no biggie!
Interesting concept, and a nice change of pace from all the reaper and farming games!
I thought the "imaginary"? friend was pretty cool. I like how you did the graphics for the tools, and despite it all it still feels cohesive. I had a fun time.
@vipaka i updated the content warnings to include a "do not play if you're under 16" cuz yeah, humour is pretty dark.
@rincs thank you so much for-to playing my game!
@kepsert @sliphtrex yeah, the night 2 kidney bug i figured that a minority of players would actually encounter that bug, so i didn't bother to fix it
@reflextions thx!!!!!
That was morbid.
I'd love to see an expanded version of this with a little more interactivity, I think the dark theme and weird artistic decisions [along with the writing] go a long way towards finding a darkly comedic balance with a lot of potential for crazy scenarios. Also probably one of the better applications I've seen of film jitter and grain I've seen in an LD game.
There's a very fun dynamic to be had here with the sock character pulling you along into increasingly more strange and dangerous scenarios, and the artstyle of a more palatable 3D body with the most egregious wounds covered by stylized paper or comic art was a really neat idea. I feel like in such a short time you managed to put together a very stylish MVP for something bigger and I feel that there's a great commercial game and story just waiting to be crafted out of this.
I did run into a couple minor bugs but all in all, the only complaint I really have is that there isn't more of it... yet? :eyes: I'm asking for more content because I enjoyed it, and definitely not because there'sasockbehindmeandhehasaguntomyheadohplease.
The mood category was made for this game, amazing, i am usually to inpatient for story games, but this one, i enjoyed very much, i'd suggest a option to make the text move quizker when you press z though, would be nice
@anchorlight :) (but fr thx for the nice words! i plan on making some sort of prequel to this, if not as a game maybe as a comic. And as for the film grain effect, this is the part where you go and thank technology connections for making his 16mm films readily available to the public. i took serious notes on how everything looked in hopes i could recreate the style.)
@noeloskar that was actually a problem on debugging, didn't have time to implement it.
5/5 for the graphics and all the visual aspects, I really like how the images are put in the 3d world, this game is really a piece of art.
The dialogues are really good.
Good job to you!! :v:
5/5 wish it was longer! ^^ Great writing
Weirdly entertaining. Could perhaps have used a bit more gameplay, but else a very well made game. Well done.
A narrative-driven organ harvesting game with Mr. Socko as the imaginary companion... I wonder how this got made in the first place. But still, it's great.
