1200 is the best I got but good fun
got to 1667, liked the game and its connection to the theme was a bit confused in the beginning, thinking the point was just to fit in the box, as soon as I figured out you need to fit the cat as precise as possible, the game was even more enjoyable and fun :)
Such an original idea, its very good! :)
This is so cute!
Interesting game! The best part is fitting perfectly, so it's good that it's rewarded with points. I liked it better when the cat was larger than the box. The numerous cases where it was the opposite where kinda underwhelming in comparison.
window not run in menu?
My highest score is 520. The game is pretty fun in general. Pretty neat conception.
Wow, this game reminds me of a cartoon called Catdog where the main character has a similar setting.
@bayunyoubi What?
@sevansevan Good news, I have increased the probability of long cats!
This game is very charming. Sometimes it's a little difficult to determine the boundaries of the box accurately, but I love the aesthetic and core concept of the game.
Very nice! Funny idea to boot as well :)
The main menu animation takes to long when I want to restart the game :)
And I miss purring on successful sit fits.
@endurion Push "x" on keyboard or the B button on controller to quick restart after a game over to skip the title screen
A super sweet and pretty fun little game. The gameplay is simple and fun. The visuals is good and very sweet. The audio is okay, but could have been better. Overall a good jam game. Well done.
Fun! I can't get enough of the 8 bit sounds, great work!
Very cool idea and execution!
1251 was my high score. Game is a lot of fun and is very simple. If this was a mobile game I would probably play it all the time haha. Great job!
Very cute and fun game, love the idea!
Super cute :cat: ! I found the controls pretty zany, which I like. It takes a bit of practice to get the right coordination. Its a cool combo of needing to brain correctly and have the right reflexes.
Great entry for a compo! I like the graphics and animations. The cat is cute. It's a funny game. Definitly had to play it when I read the title :D
@jd698 Maybe more effort than its worth, but you can get TIC80 for android and run the `ififitsisits.tic` file with it...
fits_phone.jpg
Cute little game. Love the simplicity but also challenging. Keyboard was a little hard to get the feel for until I played a few rounds.
Weird, how is it that we are not getting highscores yet? Let me solve it
Edit: I failed, I couldnt... 1494 current highscore
Absolutely brilliant! So simple, but elegantly executed (sound, graphics/style, controls) and very 'fitting' with the theme. I could 'sit' down and play this for a long time. (Even more fun with CRT mode enabled!)
This is super cute and kind of addictive!
Nice one, that was cool. very relaxing to play. Started to get in the zone and judge the size better the longer i went. Good job
This was 5* for theme and innovation for me. I love a game that nails the theme with simple, original gameplay. I don't have a cat, but I've seen enough cat videos to appreciate the weird accuracy of this. The game felt very polished and well-designed. I don't really have any critical feedback, and my guess is that you probably hit the game experience you were aiming for, right?
Ok, maybe my only feedback would be that the tiny boxes are really tough! I consistently can't get the cat's bottom in if I stop the head even a few pixels too soon.
Play_3.gif
@defrag You've got more wiggle room than you think! A successful fit depends on the bounds of the cat's **chest** and butt, not his head and butt
Thank you for the kind words!screen4.gif
Extremely fun! I love the sound effect boops :D
Super cute game! Love the cat!
Cutty kitty meow meow meow. This time there are a lot of cat on the judum. We are no exception
What a long cat!
There's a lot about this one that is very satisfying. Getting the cat to be the exact perfect length is 🔥
Long noodles, short noodles, always sits but not always fits - Ancient Proverb Really enjoyed the game loop, the art is super cute and the cat's walking noises are 100% cat
simple but cute game! it was hard to get the timing the first time but once you get used to it, its really smooth
I love the idea of this game, the way you incorporated the jam theme is really cute and innovative. The game itself is simple but there's surprisingly a lot of depth and strategy. To get the highest score, you need to take risks and pay attention to both sides of the cat. Sometimes you want to stop the head first, sometimes you want to stop the tail. It's a really cool reaction game and I had a blast playing it. The only part I found a little iffy were the hitboxes, I felt like the cat's feet hitbox was slightly bigger than the sprite. Fantastic game, I got a high score of 2155!
Love the style and the word play "I sitted but did not fitted" hilarious, fun concept and addictive to play - only real criticism would be that the colliders sometime feel unfair. Great job
3471 score! Quite good I would say.
cat.jpeg
A simple yet very enjoyable game. Good stuff. I really appreciate the quick restart button. Very nice work!
I cute little game that only reinforces my belief that cats are liquid. Amazing work!
Lovely game idea, very fitting with the theme as well! The sound effects were on point and there was something pleasantly hilarious about the cat's body extending at times. Also, won't fit, ass too big :(
This is so cute!! I love this game so much
It's so addicting :D Really cool idea! (z is a bit of an unfortunate keybinding for quertz keyboards)
@timo5034 Press `ESC` and in options you can bind any key on your keyboard to a gamepad button! No gamepad required.
What a stretchy chonker! I really enjoyed the concept and how frantic it gets!
03-10-2023_17-33-49.png
This is brilliant, the game is simple, but addictive. However, the best part is the whole idea, great job!
Thank you, @tricky-fat-cat , your feedback means a lot to me <3
This is super cute and such a fun approach to the theme. Another fun level would be where the cat is moving in a spiral movement just like cats often do.
I don't know why, but it took me couple of tries to figure out that I need to stop the front of the cat first, but once I got into it, I had a lot of fun. It would be cool if the paws connected to the "stopped" body part stopped moving, I think that would be even funnier! Anyway, very original take on the theme, well done. And here is my score:
2023-10-03_20-11-02.png
Cute little game. It's fun to play, although I suck. The control was a bit weird. On my computer the arrows and 'a' and 's' worked instead of 'x' and 'y'. Still fun to play.
Cute game, but it could do with some relaxing music. >///<
3382 is my best score for the moment ! I very liked the game, nice work !
Too cute, I love cats :D Maybe a cute music would be insane It's a simple game but i love it, it's really fun et I always want to improve my score Nice work ! I download it !
super cute and easily replayable! love the concept and had a lot of fun playing! i agree that if you ever come back to the game, it would be cool to add a background track, but that's about all i could think of. great work!
Super cute <3 and a great fit for the theme!
Aye another tic80 user! This little game is so addictive, well done. The purr sound effect is also really good, I'll have to look to see how you did it
@alec my very first tic80 game ever! thank you for your kind words <3
So simple and addicting! The perfect combination!
I got 1748!
Untitled.png
Amazing. This is the best game so far. It's got all my favorite things:
* cat
pepp.png bonus pic of mine fittin' and sittin' on my media server
Awesome game! the sounds effects fits pretty well! very well done game!
I fitted and I sitted! A great simple game, and fun too :)
@technonugget Nice score! And what a pretty cat!
Such a creative game! My cats would love this (I say as they're currently bombarding the new amazon package box I have). 1848 was my high score D: My cat sabotaged me when he jumped on my shoulder :((
Simple but efficient ! Pixel art is cool ! Maybe a music background will be fun !
This is such a unique take on the theme I would have never thought of this being a thing, the game has a good combination of both challenging and simple at the same time, it took me a little bit to figure out what the controls did but once you understand the game is really fun and challenging, the sounds effects were also really nicely made and fit so well with the game, great submission!
I really like and find it amusing how the cat can stretch and shrink.
The rules are intuitive, but it becomes easy to make mistakes when aiming for a high score, which adds an enjoyable twist!
Ahaha so thaaat how it feels to be a cat! Very fun game, sound effects fit just right. Movements was a little tricky for me, I always forgot what to press to make the cat do what I need him to do, but once I got used to it, it became fun and challenging, I enjoyed this cat-like experience)
I got a score of 1064 ^^
Simple game, but was pretty cool! The concept alone is amazing, really like how the points are based on how close in size you are to the box, adds a nice risk vs reward, great entry!
Very creative and cute game. The only thing missing are cat noises. Great job and congrats for submission!
Really solid game. Excellent example of a polished experience imo https://youtu.be/UUIFkHIFgYE
Excellent concept, but I had to buy a ruler for this :)
I assumed that because 'a' was left arrow, then 'd' would be right arrow. Took a few tries to figure that out it was 's'. Might make more sense for 's' to be halt instead of 'z'
@scott-steffes yeah tic80 has strange key binding! It's effectively a gamepad with `a`, `b`, `x`, `y` and directional controls, but they're mapped to the keyboard as `z`, `x`, `a`, and `s` and the arrow keys.
Since I made both the directional controls and the gamepad `x` and `y` buttons share the same functions, we get the strange `a` and `s` keyboard bindings. I chose not to alter the bindings from default to preserve functionality with physical controllers. If it's an inconvenience, you can rebind the keyboard controls in the game's options menu by hitting `ESC`!
Really cute game, GG ! It's a really fun entry.
Thanks for submitting the game to the stream! If you wanted to watch it again in the future heres the vod timestamped to your game
https://youtu.be/OMFzVKOU-1I?si=0HjFcEBokjup6e1z&t=553
The controls coordination was a bit hard for me but otherwise it's a very funny game! Nice take on the theme!
Really cute and unique game, purrfectly fitting the theme. My highscore was 1440! Great work
AHAHAHAHA I can't believe it! Not even 5 minutes after publishing our game I told my girlfriend "dang! we missed an opportunity! If someone has made a game about a cat and called it "if it fits I sits" I'm gonna have to give them 5 stars on the theme". And here you are. I'm going to try your game now
EDIT: Not the best score but I consider myself satisfied Screenshot 2023-10-05 181538.png Very nice game, when I thought about this idea I was considering it more as a flex the limbs to make the whole cat fit in a box top-down, but this is a quicker arcade version, very nice!
Really funny and crazy, good theme use!
Well done! Take a candy! :candy:
@sbeif great minds think alike ;-)
Fun idea that fittts the theme, simple and effective graphics. Two elements that could have improved the fun: a) it's the kind of game that lends itself well to quick die-and-retry. To lean into this, not having to go through the title screen would be nice. (EDIT: as @cheesepencil answered you can, but I didn't see it in the itch page at first) b) we don't have much time to enjoy the purr animation. Lengthening that time seems at first contrary to the spirit of a), but maybe the player would have to press a button to go on to the next level, which can be done quickly. It would also add a way to interrupt a run
Good job!
I FIT AND THUS I SIT!!!! [i fits and sits.png](///raw/adc/24/z/5fd4b.png)
Great game! Had TOO much fun. That box wasn't going to defeat ME!!! Super fun, thank you for the entry <3
@najjaman Thanks for the feedback! It looks like your sentence got cut off for item "a)", but I think you might be asking if there's a way quick restart after losing? Pushing `B` on gamepad or `x` on the keyboard should start a new game without having to sit through the title screen. I really should have put it in the UI but didn't have time.
I like the idea of a button press to advance to the next box!
Really nice and cute game!
My cats' butts are too big. But they are still cute. Love the game!!!
Really solid entry! A simple mechanic with excellent implementation, and nice time pressure and difficulty ramp. The only thing I felt like I missed was a clearer understanding of where exactly on the cat/box I was measuring to, but that's a nitpick. 10/10 would be a hefty chonk again! 1508 was my high score.
A cute simple game, congrats on your first tic80 entry :)
Very cool and unique game. I like how you interpreted the theme. Amazing job!
1201 on my first play because I was way too aggressive on a tiny box...
good: - simple, fun concept - good delivery on the theme - nice polish with menu, consistent art style, sfx
bad: - maybe a bit too simple? I don't have any suggestions for what to do with the core gameplay mechanic to add more interest though. :/ I guess it being a score attack makes it replayable, it probably gets harder after the point where I died like a n00b - no bgm
Thanks for letting me play this! Excellent job!
Here's the VOD on YouTube to watch the gameplay, just skip to your chapter on the video! https://youtu.be/-eCnQ8GAhN8
Perfect fit for the theme! :D
Good idea on switching the sides the cat comes from, and having the cat be sometimes longer or shorter than the box, as it forces you to be on your toes and choose quickly whether to stop the front or the hind end. The speed increase made for good progression, too.
The aesthetic part is great, it makes me want to try and make a TIC-80 game myself. The graphics are clear (cute cat!) and the sounds are fitting. It might use some simple music track playing in the background, but with such a quick turnover between playing / restarting / trying again I didn't really have the time to miss it much.
Also, I wouldn't say it is too difficult, but it does ramp up rather quickly with the speed. It's not too tough to get a great fit, but I don't think I ever could get a perfect one. If anyone manages that, I congratulate you.
iifis.png
@lcstark "perfect" fits have a 1% margin of error (in the favor of the player) but due to the logic I'm using to calculate success (jam quality code) you're far more likely to get "perfect" fits on very large boxes than it is on medium and small boxes.
I hope you have fun with tic80! If you've already used PICO-8 you'll find many similarities - and a few differences, some welcome, some not!
This was fun to play, I like how it got faster and faster. I would've liked some cute cat sounds :)
This game is very fun and very cute!
sittedbutnotfitted.png
Very cute game, fun to play and trying to get the cat to fit perfectly.
SO SILLY !!!!!!! AWESOME !
so funny and silly game,,love this one
A very addictive and exciting game! I want to put the little cat in a box!)) I liked it, at first I didn’t really understand how to put a big cat in a small box, and then I saw the rules in the main menu! A very interesting idea!
haha long boi
On a serious note, this is a very fun, cute game. The timing is harder to get right than it looks, especially as the game speeds up, or on those occasions where the cat is actually shorter than the box it needs to go in and you have to try and remember to stop the back end first, not the front end. I got exactly one perfect fit and was very happy with myself when I did so.
The only real complaint is a lack of music, but I understand perfectly if you couldn't fit it in before the deadline. Overall, great job! 10/10 would sits again
longboi.png
I don't get it why sometimes I'm losing. It seems that it fits but somehow it not sits... :( But it's a clever idea and I had fun with it, cool game :)
Loved it! Cute and simple, well executed.
I love how seamless and "finished" it feels. That, combined with the unique idea and fun gameplay make this just great, overall!
Brilliant entry! Very simple but super fun and challenging. A really nice mood too. I had a smile on my face the whole time. My absolute favourite feature was the steps sound that becomes faster and faster. I've seen picture of the x3 perfect placement, but I never got it. So maybe that was too strict, or the bounds of the cat not very clear.
Anyway, absolutely great submission. It's everything a game needs to be.
Such a cute game! My cat also loves trying to squeeze into boxes of any size, it's really funny. I love your game <3
Super simple, well executed. I liked it. I think it's too hard to get perfect, but maybe when you actually do the reward is super high. The "one more round" kind of game.
had a blast with this one, looks simple but its really addictive.
Lovely ! The idea is very funny, and well executed. The art style looks nice. I got better after a couple of tries :) GG
@cheesepencil Finally got some time to rate some games. :) Very fun and simple that as others have mentioned can be a little addicting. Difficulty ramps up nicely with the cat's speed increase. Also definitely a fairly innovative idea which I can appreciate! Nice work!
It's incredible how you've been able to create this marvel in just 48 hours! For me, it has to win the award for the best theme, by a long shot! Moreover, it's not just that, the game encompasses everything: graphics, music, and most importantly, fun! It seems like a well-rounded game, and my congratulations for achieving so much in such a short time, impressive! Great game!
I really enjoy playing this game! My best score was 243 points. In the beginning, I struggled to learn the proper game controls and didn't make the right decisions. It took a while for me to get the hang of it and start scoring points consistently. Keep up the good work!
Simple but nice game, I enjoyed it, congrats!
- Interesting unique experience. - I failed many times over and it was really annoying seeing the title screen for like the 10th time, and the sound starts to sound like laughter. - It took me very long to understand what is going on. I somehow found using left and right confusing, and thought I'm stopping the front of the cat and the end of the cat. Then I thought you have to make the cat the same length as the box, and I was confused weather the front of the box counts as valid space. Then I figured out the cat had to stop above the box and had to fit inside it. I think the title is a little confusing, because even if the cat fits it doesn't always sits (if it doesn't have to move and fits, it sits). I only ever got 2 success in a row, I once got good points (270) but I didn't understand why, as to me it didn't fit well unlike some other times when I got low score. **edit** also I guess the gif (and the main screen) show the cat extending not directly above the box but outside it's vertical "goal points"
That's one hell of a cat! Impressive original take on the theme. Loved playing this on stream, it's just so much fun! Only thing I would add is to indicate the hitboxes/edges of the box more. Other than that, gameplay-wise it's perfect.
@ellaris I'm sorry the instructions were confusing, I'll do better to communicate the rules and buttons better next time. For what it's worth, you can skip the title screen when you game over by pressing "x" on the keyboard or the "B" button on an xbox controller.
Thanks for giving it a try!
Very innovative and fits perfectly with the theme. I got really confused with the arrows. I never knew which side to choose and it was always the wrong one.
Nice! My high score is 1095, after a few plays =). I really like the take on the theme, and the cat theming =). I was a little unclear at first as to how much of the head/tail/misc parts counted, and had a few times I failed and thought I should succeed, and vice versa, but then mostly got the hang of it (and stopped trying to go for a perfect fit ^_^). Some more cat-like sounds would have been nice.
Really interesting concept, don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this. My only comment would be perhaps a bit more leniency on the contact points on the side of the box, but other than that great game.
It's super cute with simple yet great idea! I love the pixel art and the cat purring sound when sitting correctly ฅ(^•ܫ•^)ฅ
Cool idea. I kept hitting the wrong arrow though! sometimes pressing left would move the other end of the body to the left, other times it would start scooting to the right. I assume left always makes it shorter? I definitely assumed it would scoot the direction you press.
Cute art, though I have the minor-est of gripes. Why the need to show the cat's butthole? I'm no prude, but given the position of the cat's other leg, it simply wouldn't be visible from this angle, ha!
@100th-coin re: butthole
i was kinda reaching for that humor rating, but it's too late for me to chicken out and patch it now
Very cute and I love the idea ^^
Smart and fun idea! I don't know why some people are bothered by the controls, left and right made sense to me (I mean, left for left is kind of straight forward).
Man, this is the perfect jam game concept. Such a simple concept, fits the theme, polished and satisfying to play.
Even though it's quite simple, I think a *slightly* more developed version of this, maybe with some obstacles or different shaped cats/boxes etc, would be an excellent time killer on mobile.
Even divorced from the limited space theme, this is just a very appealing and marketable concept. I think it'd do well.
Nice and simple. It took me some bad tries to understand how it works. (Pushing arrow keys stops the cat, and not moves the cat).
It's a nice idea to have the cat coming from left or right, and to have some cats that are already small. It adds a little variety.
This could totally be a mini-game of Wario Ware or things like that.
Nice graphics too, especially the "back" of the cat.
A brilliant idea, and a perfect fit (pun intended) to the theme! It's amazing how complete a game you've created from such a simple idea! Great work!
very original idea. at first I didn't understand what the game wanted from me. it would be nice to have a training screen where I can try operating them. there are 2 buttons, but I couldn't understand when to press them... the moment I figured it out, it was just great. good game, thanks for it
Снимок экрана 2023-10-18 221705.png Very nice theme interpretation, well done!
I love games that give me some kind of completely new set of controls, well done.
So polished!
At first I was trying to fit the entire cat, including the head. Only after I realized you only had to fit the paws.
Longcat is long, but this one is only as long or as short as necessary.
Flexcat?
Schrödingerly long cat, both long and short at once, until you press the button?
So many questions.
Elegant, nice mini-game!
