Stingy Seating by stevenjmiller 2023-10-13T21:16:17Z

Tough! I got to level 4 and then watched stevenjmiller's video :) Huge congrats for managing to make a puzzle game during the jam, well within the theme, and a challenging, consistent one at that! And the graphics were good. Very good job (And not being able to go backwards didn't bother me, I know I'm in a puzzle game :p)

A Parking Story by Gao Ming 2023-10-06T00:38:46Z

You've aced the mood with the graphics and the engine sound :) The bandages are a nice touch. Coherent game, well executed. Good job!

Bon Voyage by binroot 2023-10-12T19:28:10Z

Good idea for a narrative game! I didn't understand that you were supposed the watch the survivors go through the rest of their days until they died, so I quit the game a few days after the rescues. The graphics and lack of interaction weren't compelling enough to keep watching, sorry :grimacing: If you take the game further post-jam, would love to see it :)

Fit by mahalis 2023-10-13T20:29:49Z

Very good graphics! Pleasing to play on that side. The audio doesn't match that polish, sadly, so it feels tacked on. I liked the game idea and had fun playing it. The gradual speed-up is enough to make it challenging. On the execution side, however, I was confused because I had to press Right on the keyboard to go to the left, and that was frustrating because I had to mentally map these opposites, and my last-second dodges almost always failed. Good job, looking forward to play your next games :)

Canals by leparlon 2023-10-12T14:13:28Z

I like this radical ecologist take on the theme! Could be a good basis for a puzzle game. GG

Hope Falters by Jeremy Ryan 2023-10-15T17:44:41Z

Wow! Masterful level design. And very good execution on all sides. 5/5

Rectangular rhythm selection game by A.Bond 2023-10-12T14:57:59Z

That was fun! I liked how the changing constraints made it necessary to change strategies and discover more about the system. Finding the strats made me feel clever like a good puzzle game does. I'm wondering if you were literally winging it when making the game (since you said so in a previous comment) :D Anyway, that statement being part of the setup to the game kind of adds to it. All in all, a good game!

The Dude with a Wolf, a Goat and a Cabbage ~ A modern interpretation by CaptainDreamcast 2023-10-12T14:37:57Z

I was not expecting this AT ALL. Hilarious, very good job :D

Whack-a-Soul by JavaSaurus 2023-10-15T18:12:15Z

Good juicy graphics, within the theme, with cool music. What more could one ask for? Good job!

Just why? by Donitz 2023-10-05T23:55:43Z

Brutal and excellent. The game is very solid around the theme. Except for the font, the graphics perfectly fit the mood. The pause/checkpoint mechanic was unexpected and I tip my hat to that. It allows to take breaks, readjust the hand position, and play the game for longer while keeping the challenge intact. Good design here. Very good job!

If I Fits, I Sits! by cheesepencil 2023-10-05T23:30:38Z

Fun idea that fittts the theme, simple and effective graphics. Two elements that could have improved the fun: a) it's the kind of game that lends itself well to quick die-and-retry. To lean into this, not having to go through the title screen would be nice. (EDIT: as @cheesepencil answered you can, but I didn't see it in the itch page at first) b) we don't have much time to enjoy the purr animation. Lengthening that time seems at first contrary to the spirit of a), but maybe the player would have to press a button to go on to the next level, which can be done quickly. It would also add a way to interrupt a run

Good job!

Give Me Money by kairuma 2023-10-06T00:50:36Z

Simple, yet it had me play longer than I thought ^^ Nice

Spaceport by freeworld 2023-10-12T15:30:59Z

It's hard! I got to 7. Liked the music, graphics and mood, these work well together. What I found confusing about the routes is whether they remain after a ship has used them or not. Sometimes it did, sometimes not. Good job overall!

Shipped Off by fnelix 2023-10-12T15:16:59Z

Good take on the theme and good execution! I found the physics when placing a container on a boat quirky at first, but then I understood it as "I'm a docker, I have to be careful" and then I was fine with it :) GG

Super Low Memory Bot by LaserPanzerWal 2023-10-13T20:52:41Z

Cool! I got surprised by one of the early levels in which difficulty suddenly goes up, but reading in the comments that it was solvable gave me the courage to plow through it. I stopped at the first level with a box because I wanted to move on. I don't understand why the level replays? The audio fits the mood, but it gets old fast and I had to mute it to keep playing. Consistent aesthetic, I liked the lore and the puzzle design was interesting. Very good job!!

Corridor Duels by nyxkn 2023-10-12T16:25:18Z

A bit repetitive, but interesting. I especially enjoyed the music. Good job!

Mechanizyn by Lincolnsalles 2023-10-15T05:31:36Z

Same as @killerb  Cool tiny game! The animation on the fly is excellent. Keep it up :)

Limited Leg Space by spacecadet 2023-10-15T17:56:02Z

The struggle was real, I didn't manage to finish the game! Cool take on the theme though. I didn't find the level to lean back until my 4th run. Could use some UI feedback on this front, like changing the mouse cursor when an action is available. I felt powerless in my first runs, and diegetically annoyed in the following ones. I like this graphic style (you've played my game so you know that already ^^) and the tense audio was coherent. Good job! An unexpected and very welcome entry.

Petits Chats by FullSaphir 2023-10-13T22:21:34Z

Oooh des potits chats ! S'il y avait un prix pour la thumbnail la plus efficace tu l'aurais haut la main :D I love this simple game idea which is actually fun! I'm impressed at how the setting (= cats) and how we can relate to the situation do the heavy lifting of making the game fun. Clever. I was confused at first because there's no way to tell how long the line should be or how much remains of it, but after failing a few times I got the hang of it. What's more punishing is that the bed's playable area is not very clear (is it the center of the circle you draw?), same as the cats' hitboxes. The timer is very tight. So overall the execution is very raw, but the experience being fun nonetheless tells something about the core idea's strength. And it's the only game that I tried that I immediately sent to friends :) (The other games I liked I'm buffering into a top-N list.) Good game, good job!

Limited Space in Space by Fifut 2023-10-06T00:26:54Z

Nice game! Good take on the theme. Congrats

Homeward by Wuppos 2023-10-12T19:17:43Z

Charming :) I played through 5 runs, my biggest score being 122. I don't know if I explored enough to find the packing mechanic meaningful: on all my runs, there was no point at which I really was constrained by inventory space. Still, I enjoyed the game :) Will take a look at your previous entries too since cute graphics seem to be your thing!

Auto-Pilot by woona 2023-10-13T22:43:30Z

Very good job on your first LD! An original, interesting idea that works, with good graphics. I don't know how much ability to complete depends on randomness. I made it after 4-5 runs, it seems that the only viable strategy is investing in attack, looking for those Destroyers even if that means rerolling, and filling the blanks with the other ships. Reselling seems to never be a good option, but I don't expect a fine-tuned game economy from a jam game anyway :D So the gameplay is not deep in this jam version, but it definitely has potential! And I'm very receptive to the FTL aesthetic and game design so I'd be interested in following along if you go further. Big congrats!

Indcosmus by milq 2023-10-18T15:55:52Z

Challenging game, I nearly finished level 2, will get back to it soon :) So far I've seen only 3 mob types, and I appreciate how you managed to place them in varied situations. I wish it the levels were shorter to make up for the difficulty, but I guess it's part of the challenge. Nice work on the backgrund music, and nice graphics even though both don't contribute to making a distinct mood. Good job!

Bit Golf by badcop 2023-10-06T01:22:36Z

Great idea, very well executed! The control scheme was intuitive: literally the first I tried did what I expected. I don't remember how RLE was introduced (or if I discovered it by accident) but it was timely. And I love such tiny games with a coherent, funny lore :) The one improvement I see would be having more of the levels' text have meaning, rather than a pure compression exercise. (Obviously that would have been harder to make!) Good job, congrats!! Definitely one of my highlights of this jam.

Limited Spacebar by IngeniousPhoenix 2023-10-12T16:09:38Z

I didn't find the game very fun as-is. Since stages are static and there's a finite number of them, it was too easy staying near the center of the screen and just wait there. The green dots didn't represent enough of an incentive to chase them. Still, it's a cool idea. Some ideas for improvement: having obstacles move, more randomness in the patterns, making the bonus mechanic more engaging (maybe de-spawn after some time?). I enjoyed the music! Interesting entry overall. GG

Limited Grades by Triangle Point 2023-10-13T21:32:06Z

I liked the pixel art, the jetpack and the vocal instructions. I didn't understand the game the two times that I tried unassisted. Then I read the comments and understood there was a boss. I was seeing the health bar (and I was wondering whether it was my health or some kind of large elevator light), the white sheet with the face and the grades, but nothing moved. On one of the later runs I saw a monster with staples, but not on the first two runs. Same for the fist. I didn't understand it was a fist until run 3. And it was stomping me on one of the runs, but on the one where I got A+ it did nothing. Also, the Play again button didn't work on the web version I played. Congrats on finishing this! :) I can't say I liked it overall because I left me confused, but I'd be happy to see other games with your art. Cheers!

GridBlocked by KillerB 2023-10-15T05:46:19Z

Cool! It's basically Unpacking, but in reverse, and you're an assassin. This game will probably get us all banned from ever entering the US. At some point a shuriken and a bomb fused to make a shuriken-bomb, I was impressed by this newfound destructive power. The concept is neat, I didn't mind the short length. I like games with no fillers. The last two levels were enough to showcase that it can actually make for interesting puzzles. The dark audio was coherent with the setup text on the itch.io page mentioning Deus Ex, and just like that we have a mood. The sprites and font too, now that I think of it. Good job on all sides!

Elevators Go Boink by sudocoffee 2023-10-12T18:57:14Z

Phew, did it. Would have been a lot easier with strafing, but since the game as-is is finishable in 2-3 minutes, I don't mind. The "attack" definitely surprised me. Other than that, I liked the simple graphics, and I didn't mind having to track my character. Nice take on the theme overall, I wonder where you could have pushed it with more time. Good job!

Feng Shui Struggles by Nozomu57 2023-10-06T00:10:11Z

I'm having a hard time with the controls :grimacing: Good take on the theme though

Running out of space by Tal28 2023-10-13T20:19:37Z

Good job on your first LD! :) A simple but interesting game that I enjoyed, I got to 51. The increasing pitch and shrinking space manage to build up the tension, and not being able to go backwards with the ship makes anticipation interesting. The small but sufficient variety of debris was a good touch. I would have appreciated a little something, even just a line of text, to have some narrative glue as to why destroying asteroids widens the space ("Lost in the outskirts of space aboard a trusty old ship, you do what you can. Delay the anxiety of your inevitable doom by destroying all the debris you can. Enjoy it while it lasts" or something). Another idea more on the GD side to spice up interest: presently, there's infinite ammo, thus no downside to spamming the spacebar. It's a first-order optimal strategy, nothing wrong with that, but the player input to execute it is annoying. Either lean into it by allowing to shoot by simply holding (and maybe, as downside, the debris splits into parts? I don't know, and it's one more feature cram into the 48h, hard), or add a downside to shooting (e.g. a cooldown, more manageable within the time limit) to deepen the tactical aspect.

Disco Seducium by najjaman 2023-10-06T00:20:26Z

@caryoscelus Thanks for your feedback and for playing this on stream! The music is supposed to be synced to the beat, at least on the machines I tested the game on. However I know that it's not enough to support all configurations, because I didn't factor in the audio delay. Godot has docs for that but I didn't have time to implement it.

Disco Seducium by najjaman 2023-10-06T00:20:31Z

@cheesepencil I'm happy to read this :) Thanks!

Disco Seducium by najjaman 2023-10-06T14:18:24Z

@greytyphoon Thanks for the feedback! The physical WASD keys are labeled ZQSD on AZERTY keyboards. Using them would have meant either an even weirder input scheme for AZERTY users, or some way to detect/define the keyboard layout. I didn't like the second option because I'm already putting a menu (character selection) between pressing Play and playing, it could have worked though. The biggest issue with ESDF is that people are having a hard time mapping that input shape to the vertical layout of the keys in the UI. Seems obvious in retrospect!

Disco Seducium by najjaman 2023-10-12T14:21:35Z

@sudocoffee Thanks for playing and for your feedback :) I'm using physical_keycode already, the key issue (pun intended) was that it's not enough to tell which keys are pressed, the game also has to display them. Skipping WASD entirely solves it :)

Disco Seducium by najjaman 2023-10-13T10:07:01Z

Bosquet Bounce by najjaman 2024-05-03T23:00:31Z

@steffo oh shoot! Thanks for the report. It's Open Sans, we're using the Regular and Semibold variants. But I don't think emojis are included in it :/ That being said, I will uploading a Linux build next week! For this jam I'm developing on a Windows machine but I do use both. Plus I didn't expect people to actually find and play the game ^^
