Super cool idea! The bounciness of the characters feels cool too.

Super cool idea! The bounciness of the characters feels cool too.
Hilarious game! I turned on the background "the only thing they fear is you" and it was 10/10!!!
The utter chaos without any chance to keep track which character is mine... gave up after a while
That was just hilarious. Well done!
I relish the chaos. Also the text feed was hilarious - that really made it for me. Nice!

Took me a while to realize the objective, but this was quite funny! I wish you had more time to see what else you could've done with it. Good work!
That was really fun (and brutal)! Love the touch of the dialogue on the side as well
I love the idea, love the dialogue. Did not love playing it... the controls were not my favorite. That being said, I think it's a clever game, and a hilarious premise.
Mac user here. I can confirm that the Chrome tab that had itch loading the game crashed before the game could load. As always, good job on submitting to the compo. I can't imagine how you guys do it.
Thanks @daniel-davis-music -- that's valid on the controls. I personally liked how the tank controls turned out, but the game around those controls was last minute and the NPCs make it really hard to have control over your character.
Haha! I thought that was a good idea. It took me by surprise at first. I do wish it were easier to tell what character you were controlling after all of that chaos hit (though that might have been part of the game). I love the personality you brought to the game with the dialogue, that was really neat. It definitely could have benefited from audio but I know how it is. Great job!
Great entry - great humor :D Maybe you can add some fun sound effects and music at a later date :)
Really like the art direction, lost track of my character right as I was attacked lol
hilarious! i definitely have had to use that shoulder technique before... but someone got disembodied outside the elevator and all hell broke loose.. Screenshot 2023-10-03 203520.png
Haha thanks @nikolaj -- sometimes body parts would clip outside the box, I wasn't sure how to fix (or if I wanted to fix). But hell breaking loose sounds about how I programmed it :)
I don't think I got the entirety of the concept (the description of the game is quite vague) but making my way to the elevator button was a fun challenge :)
At first I wasn't sure what to make of the game. Elevator opens, gotta push through those people, wow big deal. Then the mayhem started and it was hilarious. Controles were aweful tbh, but even that firts the box of pure chaos you try to navigate through. The dialogue on the side made it so much better, and the end when you finally reach the button just topped the cake. Not a game for anything outside a jam probably, but this was a great experience. I would have loved sound though.
BAHAHAHA I love it! well done!!! some audio would have been real cool! it was hard to read and play but that just takes time. great game <3
This was very funny and also the feed was very creative and fun as well, but lost my character like 7 times and then i just gave up would be nice if I glowed somehow or some way to keep track of which charater is me. But very funny game indeed laughed a good one.
I had to read through the comments to understand what to do. After I got it going it was really fun trying to force my way to the button. I lost my guy in the shuffle a couple of times. The text feed is awesome.
I had to play it a few times, I lost who I was and I didn't know what was happening. I played again for a final time and managed to reach the end, a funny little experience with a wild ending. Well done!
EPIC entry - You can't image how I burst out laughing when the attack started. I love it and will play this entry again after I finished this comment - Nice Job!
I guess I missed something, or maybe the game is more of a narrative thing than a mechanic-based game? I suspect that I am supposed to wedge my way through the bedlam in the room, but I have utterly no idea of who I am. I did chuckle reading some of the quips of the super-violent fellow passengers.
Funny little game, took me a while to realise how to get to that button but really funny when I did get to it.
@defrag -- Yeah, the game was originally supposed to be a narrative game with some mechanical things thrown in, but I didn't really get to the content part until Sunday afternoon (the chat system took most of Saturday). The get-to-the-button-through-hoards-of-npcs quest was the best I could come up with at the last minute.
Sucks you weren't able to add sound because it would've really helped with the style of game you made. If you work anymore on this game, definitely add sound effects. I wonder if having only sound effects without music would suit the game better. I think highlighting the player's character and the elevator buttons would make things much easier to understand. Since elevator buttons are by the elevator doors in real life I didn't even think to look on top of the screen for those small things.
Great use of the theme, though. I love the idea of an elevator mosh pit!
Thanks @killerb -- the elevator buttons were a last minute addition, but they definitely needed to be more visible. I'm split on highlighting the player character though, I kind of like the idea that you're just another person in the crowd (although the original story concept is missing).
I had no idea what I was suppose to do. But liked the dialogue, pretty funny. Cheesecake?
funny lil' experience! i think the way you're showing dialogue & drawing a line to the speaker is an interesting layout
This is supremely silly and I adore it for that.
Not the cheesecake!
Ha! A simultaneously obvious and creative concept for the theme. It was fun just trying to keep track of myself in the jumble.
Things turned out pretty funny once everyone went nuts xD As others mentioned, I lost very quickly who I was.
I managed to reach the buttons fairly quickly and thought what will come next. Well... nothing but still a pretty unique and funny idea!
Attack!!! Haha! Felt like that one Captain America elevator scene
That's just too funny, great job! Really cool idea, fantastic game. I wish there was music. People, make music for your games! Especially a game like this, you need some silly music!
LOL that ending! Literally made me laugh out loud. Loved the chaos of the elevator fight, the character texts popping up, those made me laugh a lot. I liked the design of just being another person in the crowd, it added the challenge of refinding your player character after the initial chaos (I managed to find myself again based on the color and some tactical wiggling). I think the physics system also made it funny, at one point there was so much squeeze going on that the head of my player character managed to fly out of the elevator (it came back though, no worries), that's the beauty of a physics-based game like this, I think it's great. Getting to the button and figuring out when to hold back and when to push through also was pretty fun, that triumphant feeling when you made it out of the corner at the bottom left to the top of the elevator and justice is nigh. Wonderful game and take on the theme, great job!
@kasmilus -- Haha yeah I missed the chance for some killer elevator music! I started to look at music an hour before the deadline, but realized I didn't know my audio software well enough (and had never added music to a game in Godot before). So I skipped it and spent the rest of the hour fixing last minute issues.
@captaindreamcast -- Thanks for playing! I love games with quirky controls (think Katamari Damacy or Getting Over It), and it seemed like it'd be fun to have that in a crowded elevator. One idea I had to make it easier to keep track of your character was to let you talk any time with the space bar (so it'd show a line to your character). I also tried to make it easier to push NPCs out of the way with your character, but never quite figured out the physics for that. Just meant you had to wait for the NPCs a lot.
Hilarious! Sadly I couldn't find my character in the bedlam (the text in the top right distracted me long enough to lose track), so I restarted and gave it another go while paying better attention. It also turns out you can just wait to press space the first time until after you've already reached the button, which makes the whole thing a lot easier :P. Some have complained about the controls but to me they were part of the fun. Definitely needs sound!
This was definitely unique XD It was also very funny! It put a smile on my face for sure :D I am not sure if there was supposed to be any skill behind getting to the buttons, but just rotating and pressing up got me there eventually. It definitely felt like I had 'limited space' XD Thanks a lot for making this quick experience!
Lol I love this. A crowed lift was an idea I had for the jam as well and I love how this came out. ATTACK!
Hilarious! Not sure if there is much I can say that hasn't already been said. Love the dialogs! Buttons could be more obvious, for some reason, it took me longer than it should to find them. But otherwise very well executed and hilarious idea, love it!
Fantastic. Really fantastic. It's so simple, yet it embodies the theme so well - the best I've seen. I'm not claustrophobic but the game REALLY starts giving you some of that feeling. Also the humorous chat messages are great. Really nice job. Obviously audio and more content would be amazing.
The twist at the end is super cool. I think I broke it since I managed to get to the left edge of the screen without falling.
Thanks @jose-bonilla! Originally there were going to be more ways to get kicked out of the elevator ("lose the game"), so I based the fade on character position instead of scripting it. Works here most of the time, but means you sometimes get stuck listening to screams for eternity :)
It was funny at first and then I didn't know who I was anymore. Was it missing being able to hit or shoot others, do something? I know time was short, the idea was good
@lincolnsalles -- Nah, the only controls are the arrow keys. I tried to fix the physics to make it easier to push NPCs around with the movement keys, but didn't quite get that working right.
Losing track of your character (especially while reading text) seems to be the biggest problem to making the game accessible / pick-up-and-play. Having the player blend in with the crowd was important thematically, but I have some ideas to balance that with making it easier to keep track of things.
Phew, did it. Would have been a lot easier with strafing, but since the game as-is is finishable in 2-3 minutes, I don't mind. The "attack" definitely surprised me. Other than that, I liked the simple graphics, and I didn't mind having to track my character. Nice take on the theme overall, I wonder where you could have pushed it with more time. Good job!
